SapphireStargazer, thank you! I wasn't overly impressed by his company photos, but I knew I would adore any Gu Mi-jeong sculpt, and "in the resin" he is every bit as lovely as I hoped he would be .

Really, there are no words for how much I hate customs fees XD. I hear people say that they rarely have to pay any at all, but personally I have only once NOT had to pay any. It bugs me that there seem to be no rules either. Sometimes I get asked for proof of payment, sometimes I don't. With Theo I was lucky: they didn't ask me anything and charged me only 32 euros ($44). For Alexia, they have asked me for proof of payment, so they know I spent $500 on her. I am mentally preparing for a fee of some 40% . This is really the worst case scenario that is being played out. At least I know that I'm going to adore her, but - gah. It is really infuriating that in some countries we have to pay 40% more for the same thing.

Luckily I'm apt to forget all about the fees as soon as I hold the dollie in my hands...

I went to have a look at your box opening. I already thought Elise looked lovely, but she looks extra good next to Gabriel! They are a wonderful couple. I chuckled when I saw how long you have actually had an eye on her. It's very recognisable. I seem to mostly buy dolls that I noticed almost as soon as I entered the hobby (though in my case that is only three years ago :p). Theo was an exception.

VA13, thank you! He really needs clothes though. I have drawn the design, but I need to draft patterns (AUGH!) and then make everything... including bits of chainmail... eep.

I can relate to the fact of wanting to re-do part of a face-up :/. But trust me, you half-skeleton guy looks great!

And I totally relate to not having clothes. I have started selling dolls I don't have clothes for. I just can't find any (and can't make any lol)! I think that companies that sell dolls just keep popping up and no one is making clothes...or they don't make clothes for my dolls. Or they make the same thing everyone else makes. I have serious issues with finding stuff, especially for boys.

Dropping in with some yay - my Eve Liebe Klum who used to be on a modded Zaoll body and has been a head for 6 months (more like 8) will have a body again, hopefully by next week!

Dollstown shipped it out today!! I'm so excited, I have more grail bodies than I do actual dolls, and the Dollstown Elf body is one I've wanted since my first few months in the hobby, plus I'll have Tween back, I've missed him...He needs new stuff! At least a new wig, the one he has is...old. XD

Someone of Facebook was selling hers (she's also on DOA, I believe, the owner of CheekyLilMonkey) and including LOTs of extras and shipping and selling her for lower than Dollmore is so I PMed her and Dahlia is soon on her way home! Yeah, Im just a BIT excited now. lol I'm supposed to be saving for Dollism but I just couldn't pass up this opportunity.

I believe her name shall be Kana.

Hi, can someone point me to the section that has how to restring a dollmore doll? My girl can only sit and I have tried to restring her, and she is even worse off now then she was before I tried to restring her She is a Dollmore Cho... Thank you in advance.....

 

Now that it's been way too long...I don't know of any tutorials specific to Dollmore, but I've never restrung any of them any different than any other doll I own. One piece for both legs, one piece for the arms. Though I wonder if now they're stringing their dolls with two pieces for the legs as I have heard that twice now? I guess I'll be finding out first hand in September.

I have pictures of one of my boys who got re-modded over the weekend, and a new face up!



This is the one I call 2.5. I had opened his mouth a couple years ago but the way they're made made it hard to carve teeths, so he was toothless until this weekend when I added some in. Not that you can see them here. But I like his new face up so much better than the old one I had to use this one. Ignore his messy hairs, Alex doesn't own a brush.

He still needs a tiny bit more work on the face up and teeth, and he had piercings I need to reattach, but other than that, he's pretty much going to look like this.

 

Jumping in on this thread! Does anyone own a Malli or Monica? I'd love to see more owner pics of them, especially blank, but there don't seem to be any around.

And here, quick shot of Kana who is finally here. I have yet to do an actual photoshoot, but it'll happen. She has lots of clothes to try on and stuff. I also wanna change her eyes. I put these reds in, but don't think they work for her although I love them. She came with some pale purple (her defaults), so I'm thinking one purple and maybe a bright blue. And Tori might get the other halves so they match. Or she might be getting her defaults back in, since the larger size makes her look younger, like I want.

And can I just say I LOVE human hair wigs? Kana came with two of them. They are AMAZING. Definitely want to invest in a couple more. A long, white-blonde since I want her to have pale hair to match her pale eyebrows and white lashes.

 

Omg those ears. She's fantastic! I can see why you couldn't pass her up. I think pale would be a good look on her (and I always love a white-blond XD).

I also think you need a Kara Klum! Everyone does....everyone...

I do the marking down of prices in the department store I work at, and when I'm in the kids' section,
I always wonder to myself if those cute outfits would fit a Lusion.

A little late, but they look great!! I got really lucky at Doll-A-kon, I saw a Trinity in person. It's kind of lame but I walked away almost in tears...she was so pretty! I couldn't get over the hands! Amazing. I can't even.

If all goes well I'm ordering my 7th Kara Klum this weekend. It's been four years since I've gotten one straight from Dollmore, and almost that long since I've ordered a full doll from them. And I'm stupidly excited to be able to pick him up in person....and kind of nervous! I hope this works out right lol

Kyle Reese was my first Dollmore doll. Still have him, too. He's wonderful, isn't he? Mine is pretty floppy by now. I have to see about restringing him. Of course, it'll have to wait until I get more string.

And I still reeeally want to order a Trinity Elysia and pick her up at the convention. I'd get 10% off, too. Then again, I've been eyeballing Lusion Lillia lately, too. The fox set is just so pretty!

Didn't Dollmore put up somewhere that they would possibly be displaying everyone's dolls or some peoples dolls if you order for Dollism? I'm hoping because I'll be getting mine blank and nude he won't get displayed, I'd like to use his blank head for the face up workshop so I don't have to bring another one...I've got a blank Ryu and one that needs a new face up but I'm not sure I want to wait that long to do them and I don't want to buy anymore heads :\\

I'll have to bring him an Alex-wig and some clothes....omg I haven't even ordered yet, why am I thinking this far ahead?!

I need to get practicing on mods and wig-making too...for some reason I am less looking forward to making the wig than I am sawing the head in half....

I've wanted a Dear Doll since they came out with the line, but I don't really collect Human tinies (just Baby Alex) so I've never gotten one. I love the look of the body though. I'd like to know your opinion of her when she comes in!

My entire decision was based off me wanting to have more of a variety in my collection (half of which is Dollmore or Fairyland), and Dollshe was doing their sale of doom at that time. I like my Hound, but I often wonder if I would have liked a Dollmore boy more. Hound probably looks better with my PW girl though. Probably.

lol All Kara Klums are Alex!! ALL OF THEM! Unless they're Azrael. And for some reason I still sometimes call them Alex. I like to be confusing (even to me).

 

Quick question, what service can be used to track Dollmore's airmail shipping? They have a link on the website but it doesn't work. :<

 

I have no idea, I've only ever done EMS. Maybe google airmail tracking from Korea? Try USPS?

 

Ah I see. :V I tried all of those before and didn't get any luck. 8T It just shipped two days ago, maybe it hasn't been updated yet. If not, I'll contact Dollmore. ^~^

 

Welllll it's airmail, so it could just be slow. I don't think I've ever gotten anything from airmail out of Korea at all, just China (which takes forever - weeks and weeks), but it might take days just to start working. But again, I have no idea....someone else who has done it might know better. Maybe in the buying\shipping advice thread? That's helped me when I've been having shipping issues.

 

In sense I can join in here XD I'm stuck on a long layaway for a Lusion lol. I really am excited for her a Lusion been on my wish list ever since I discovered her. I know I shouldnt ask this but Dollmore should make boy versions of Lusion and Trinity. That would be more then amazing and they should know that a lot of people would dive after them XD I need to find a doll thats taller then the Lusion thats a boy. Only thing I been suggested was modding a Trinity to be a boy but I would hate to do that to such a lovely doll.

I love Narshas! They're so cute, I can't enough of them! Plus I actually love the odd size, I find lots of stuff mine can wear at Doll and Bear shows. Luckily he likes fluff. All those vintagey doll clothes are pretty frilly...

Lol it is a good thing he's pretty (he looks so cozy in that pic!)!! That arm thing that Noé does is indicative of all the bigger DMs. Or at least the Adam/Eves and Models. I think it's because the elastic is strung through the hands; when I put jointed hands on, which had an S-hook, that "Hound pose" stopped. And they stopped hitting themselves in the face, which I am not a fan of. I put Alex I(one)'s old DM hands back on him and he immediately smacked himself. :\\
I guess that extra tension is just too much. I do think DM has a learning curve...mine was so hard to figure out when I got him, and I was not the only one - doll veterans in the area still can't deal with Alex. Luckily he was my first so I had no choice but to learn him, I know a lot of people who sold theirs because they just couldn't get them to pose. I'm amazed I don't have more....I hate seeing them on the MP.

A month or so ago my Liebe Klum finally got a body again, so I (finally) got a decentish shot of him. Not that you can see the body...but it's there. He can stand and everything! And he looks a little more boyish than he did with the Zaoll body...it's way too curvy.

Actually, since he's so old, he might match Dikadoll Yellow if it's brand new, decently enough. Those are the hands I got for Alex, and up until recently they matched him pretty well. In one of the older jointed hand matching threads someone tried the hands on their Kara Klum, bought around the time I got mine, which is how I knew they'd work. The problem is, Dollmore did change their resin sometime in 2009. It wasn't drastic, but it might make a difference. Also, in my experience, Dollmore will yellow to a point and stop, DK does not...it just keeps on yellowing! So at this point Alex's hands are much yellower than he is...which is why he is no longer wearing them.

Well, that's not the whole reason...I missed his hands. And Alex III and several of my other dolls have jointed hands and I am a little tired of dealing with them so I had to ditch a pair.

Anyway, he might be ok with the DK NSY. Or you could go with the girl NSP and put them on Élise, they'd be closish to her. Possibly. It's been a while since I've had actual new Dollmore in the house. It does match Dollzone well and Dollzone NSP matches Dollmore when it's new. At least it did...before Dollzone changed their resin colors....I'm way off track now. Resin matching is one of my favorite subjects XD (and now that I say all of that I'm not sure DK makes hands for bigger girls....the smaller SD boy hands might work).

Anyway, my best friend had a Model guy at one point, and I swear they're almost identical to the Adams, just larger. So once you get him restrung, sueded in the hips and chest, I swear he'll be fine. The girls...are different. My Eve is a hot mess lol. But when I need her to pose she does it. They're similar to the guys but not identical. Like you mentioned I think it's all where the weight falls. And it's possible one leg may be a hair shorter than the other because I swear that's how it is with every DM I own regardless of size....

Yeah having Alex since 2008 I honestly don't consider what DM does as yellowing at all, but that's a term everyone understands so I use it. A local compared her "yellowed" doll, newer than he is, to Alex once, and we determined he was no where near yellow XD
My WS one from 09 is still my whitest doll I love their resin. Mostly it de-pinks, and then stays that way, unchanging. And since Alex was my first doll he did sit out in the sun multiple times before I knew that was a bad thing XD *fail*

Ha I'd wondered if it was the hip that had the issue but I've never bothered to measure or even look closely! I do find it hilarious that it seriously seems like all of them have the same leg on the same side be the "shorter" one!

March might have been before the color change. My Pado is from Feb 09, and he's the exact color and resin Alex is. They're the only two DMs I own (other than two heads made in 08) that are that color, the rest are the "new" resin. The new resin is....lighter. And pinker, and stays pinker longer. Not by a lot, for either, but enough that I noticed right away on my first with the "new". I have hybrided old and new and it's not different enough that I think it matters, but some people might have issues.

DK hands come with hooks, and fully strung! And once when I ordered I got them in a box, suspended by tape in another box, rather than having packing. It was the coolest and weirdest thing I've ever seen.

Here is a really really really old pic of Alex when I got my first pair. You can tell they're new by how they don't have black nails. Which is the first thing I did to them.

I just finished ordering my 7th Kara Klum X3333 Why do I need seven?! I can't even. It was so weird to order the exact same doll as my first...

 

No layaway for me, I have to have him paid off by July if I want him at Dollism, which is the goal. So I'm using my Dollism money to buy him, that way I won't be tempted to buy a doll there I really don't need (which I would do, because it would be there in front of me). I wanted another Kara Klum anyway...so this works great. I did kind of want to buy more stuff with him, but I am afraid of how much room I won't have on the way home from the convention as it is lol. Someone may have to get mailed.

The DK hands Alex has are the NSY. I do have a pair of DK NSP on my Dollzone\Mirodoll hybrid, and it's very close to those colors...but for older DM, NSY is probably best. They did match him very well when I first got them...he still looks like that...they don't. When I first noticed how yellowed they'd gotten I was kinda depressed and happy, they made Alex look pink again XD

I may be a tiny bit biased (because Dollmore is my favorite company. I know, you couldn't tell, could you?) but they have my favorite resin. And then Volks, just as heavy and yellows as slowly. I love the color, the feel, the weight, everything.

I ordered all my DK Jointed hands from Jeeryama (she's my hand dealer lol), and it took a couple months I think. Maybe one month. It wasn't that bad. And at least one of my pairs came from the MP. I got really lucky with that one, exactly what I wanted, less than new, with like, a two day wait.

So, I've clearly lost my mind.

Just made an order for a SECOND Trinity girl (Blue Voler Elysia), to be picked up at Dollism New York in September.

I shouldn't have but I've been admiring Elysia for so long, and there was a 10% discount... and a gift for allowing her to be displayed during the convention.

So, while my brain is going "What the heck are you thinking?!" the rest of me is going

 

Someone needs to tell Flickr that changing their layout all the time is not cool. I don't like going on there every-other-day and having to relearn everything. I was just there this morning for efs sake....and now it's all different.

Monique are by far my favorite wigs. Well, and Jpop, but they're the same thing so they should count automatically XD

Ha that's how I am about waiting. One thing that over-a-year wait from Dollshe did was make me pretty patient about waiting....anything under 6 months is fast! XD

Well, just paid my Elysia. I need to go into the corner and hyperventilate a little (Good LORD that is a lot of money to blow in one day! Even with a few hundred off!), but after a couple of days I'm sure I'll be climbing the walls waiting for September to arrive!

And yes, she does already have a name. Michaela Fairchild. And I think she's related to Victoria in some way, but haven't figured out quite how, yet.

 

I got my first dollmore today - mirror mirror tattoo hayarn - I adore her - but for the life of me can't get her to stand! its a bit frustrating but regardless, I can't stop staring at her amazing details

 

Oh, Stormlight, an ELYSIA! How wonderful! She has, quite honestly, the most lovely face I have ever seen on a doll. An absolute stunner. I'd get her in a heartbeat if she weren't quite so tall :p. I'm already looking forward to your photos!

Omg congrats, she's so gorgeous!! I've only seen pictures of those dolls they tattooed but they just look amazing.

As for the standing thing:
Make sure she's strung tightly enough. DM dolls tend to be a hot mess if they're too loose.

If you can, due to her tattoo work, suede her hip sockets and torso break.

Since she's your first Dollmore doll she might be hard to balance. They don't balance like a "normal" bid. I can't exactly explain it (other than to say they balance more like a human than doll), but it's something I learned after figuring out how to pose my first doll, and then getting two more SD sized dolls that were different companies but the same a as balance. I have doll friends who have been in this longer than me who can't pose Dollmore, just because they're a little different. Once you figure them out, they'll pose.


Genevieve ~ For real, I am so excited to pick him up from Dollmore!! I can't even. I was in the market for another Kara Klum anyway, but I was leaning toward second-hand until I was told about the deal they were making for those going to Dollism. I can't guarantee I won't cry all over them...imo they're the whole reason I'm in the hobby to begin with...

 

Oh, I just adore Elysia's face! Her open mouth and the teeth and her eyes and yeah, she's definitely one of the prettiest sculpts around. Although Lumie's eyes are just gorgeous, so big and haunting, which is why I ended up buying her first. But I always thought I'd eventually bring an Elysia home, too.

Dollmore's tattooed dolls are awesome! So much amazing detail! I'd probably never put them in clothes, or at least not much. lol Not only to show off the artwork, but I'd be so afraid of the tattoos rubbing off. Yikes!

Stormlight - agreed - it was hard to dress her... At the moment she is wearing short shorts and a shirt..... I'm worried too about the tattoos rubbing off - I even considered putting another coat of MSC over, but then didn't want to risk any damage... I might buy her some cute lingerie to be displayed in....

They really hold a special place in my heart >W< The first BJD (picture) I ever laid eyes on was a Dollmore doll, and looking through their dolls, I fell in love with my grail. -v- All dolls have since been compared to him. But alas, he was sold out even all those years ago D8 And only recently did I realize that there isn't anything different between the LE Haneol Moons and the regular model aside from resin color and the LE outfit, so that helps! Ideally I would love to own Evgeneia Haneol Moon and all his goodies but I will consider my life complete with a standard model Haneol. XD



Looking through those Lusion sculpts, I noticed how cute Orgel Requiem Daish is! ;A; What a unique, mopey face~

I am new into BJDs... On my research for my perfect doll I visited Dollmore, because of the Zaoll Doll, but then I saw the mystic dolls there. I fall in love with the Stardust Mermaids. I am not sure, if they're large or mini dolls, so pls be free to say, if I am wrong here
I really wanna see some owner photos of those mermaids and I am curious, if a mermaid is too hard to handle for a newbie. What do you think?

I love my dollmore Adam Sion Yoon. But he has such a peculiar face! It makes for a very interesting faceup challenge.

 

Hi electro! I believe the Mystic mermaids are technically minis, but their tails are rather long so I don't know if that makes them long enough for this thread! I had a local friend with one though so I can send you some pics when i get home!
And from handling her and my Judith girl, which is very similar, I must say that those mermaid girls are on the advanced side, but don't let that discourage you! You just have to spend some extra time getting to know her.

They're definitely Minis, I think their upper body is the Judith body? Those are Dollpire Kid hands for sure.
elektroeule I'm not sure I've ever seen owner pictures of them (though now that I type that I might have seen a box opening for one), I hope you can find some! It would be great if you ended up getting one. They look amazing on Dollmore's site.

Super bummed the mermaids are minis, guess that's another thread I'll have to stalk while I sort out doll priority plans (faceup for CJ, body for a floating head or 3...) but speaking of CJ, guess who's wig and pants arrived today?
