I have 3 pairs of the ballet shoes from Dollmore, they are super cute. xD I got this one: Dollmore.net :: Everything for Doll & more And I will probably make a petticoat for under it to poof it up.
That's a cute dress. It should work well with a petticoat and ballet shoes. I bought 2 or 3 pairs of the ballet shoes, too. She came with red, I bought the black and I think a white pair.
Lol, those are the ones I have. I'm not a big fan of the red ones. Maybe with a different outfit, but with her outfit I like the white/cream ones more.
The red shoes used to bug me. Paired with the green tutu, it looked Christmas-y. I've gotten used to them now.
Yeah, exactly. I use the cream with her, the black with my one off, and the red would probably look really good with a gothy kind of ballet outfit.
I made a swimsuit for my suntan Zinna. Here is my beach diva, working on her tan. So help me I've got an itchy finger. Dressing and posing Zinna was so much fun that I'm craving a new one. The money is earmarked for Raccoon's first guy, but I have a feeling another Zinna is going to beat him to it.
Cool! Can't wait to see her. I'm toying with the idea of getting Amaranth White Zinna. I don't like her costume, which is usually my impetus for sewing. Didn't Dollmore tell you (or was it someone else) that there were no new Judith girls planned for this year? If they had new ones in the works I would wait, but if not...
They didn't tell me that. I probably would have been on here crying already if they had. xD I have the White Amaranth. Well, I have both of them, but I like her. She's really cute. Although yeah, I really don't use the outfit. I made her a new one for a contest on here like 2? years ago. It was for the decades contest, this is the 1960s.
Yeah, that looks like something I might have worn in the 60s. Nice job on it! I see you have her in heels, but on the website it looks like she comes with flat feet. Did you buy heel feet separately?
Yeah, she has heel feet on, they don't match though. They might now. I'd ask them which white heel feet to get. Back then it was just one white, and it was crazy white, and not the same type of resin either. A lot smoother than the dolls. I finally got Elenora all dressed. I decided to cut off the ribbon from the ballet shoes and sew on a thinner ribbon. I think it looks a lot nicer.
Is this the Dollpire Dead Mansion Tara? I thought you got the Zinna. Or did you get both? The outfit is great and I do like the narrower ribbon on the ballet shoes. I might do that with mine. Well, I won't be getting the Amaranth White Zinna after all. I ordered an elf from Creature Doll instead. And now there's no money for a Raccoon guy either. I'll just sit back and hope for new Judith girls next year.
Nope, that's the Zinna. The Tara had the stitches on the eyes too. I thought about getting her as well, but mah wallet. Aww. Well, she's super old already, so I'm sure she'll still be around for awhile. o_o I got mine awhile after she debuted. EDIT: DOLLMORE POSTED ON INSTAGRAM THERE ARE GOING TO BE TWO NEW ZINNA'S.
Two?! Ooh, I can't wait to see them... I've been really looking at Tara for a while (Edgar's Atelier being my favorite, though Bitter Biscuit is a real cutie too), though I'll have to see where doll money is at the end of summer (promised I would not be ordering anyone new this year before the doll convention I'm going to)... and I'd always liked Tara more than Zinna as sculpts go, but who knows-- the right faceup and wig/outfit can make a big difference. I'll just have to see what doll I love the most out of those available when the time does come. I keep going back and forth between whether my priority is another boy (well, another pair of boys, for OTP shelling) or a Judith girl... they're just such beautiful dolls.
NO-O-O-O-O-O-O-O! I knew something like this would happen the minute I spent my money. Did Dollmore say when the girls will appear? All I can hope is: a) I won't like either doll, or b) I'll sell a doll or a bunch of clothing and be able to afford one.
There's a Tara too. I just like the Zinna's more. They put some of the dolls online, but not all so far, the Judiths are not up yet. Instagram post by Doll More • Jun 4, 2017 at 2:43pm UTC I'm guessing those two are the "Scents of the Rose" Zinna. Instagram post by Doll More • Jun 4, 2017 at 2:45pm UTC It's hard to tell with the outfit and the picture being overexposed, but I believe these are the "Beginning of War" Tara and Zinna respectively. EDIT: I emailed them about it. But I noticed the price tag in the first picture, those are definitely the Rose Zinna's.
Oh rats! I do like them. A lot. Any chance these were conference dolls that won't be made available except as one-offs?
Nope. lol Dollmore emailed back that they will have them up sometime this month. Which will bring my Zinna count into the double digits. @.@ My only consolation is that I've ordered so many that I have a high member rank and get a discount. lol
Darn it--where am I supposed to get money? I thought I had a buyer for one of my marketplace dolls but she has dropped out of sight. I want one of those Scents of the Rose Zinnas. Lucky me. I can still count my Judiths on the fingers of one hand. Double digits are never going to happen.
Oh, her fullset is beautiful... My favorite just sold out since the last time I was on the site... Well, now I know I'll be jumping on the remaining Tara if I can get the money before she sells out, but I'm not holding my breath... There will always be another one eventually and they're always going to be beautiful.
Okay, this is ridiculous. I ordered Scents of a Rose Zinna slightly over a week ago and today she arrived!!! I didn't get a shipping notice, and the last time I looked at my status (over the weekend, I think) there was nothing happening. My guess is this was a doll Dollmore took to the recent conference so she was already made. I can't share pics yet. No sooner did I sign for her than the dark clouds rolled in and it started to rain. It's way too dark in here to take photos. Plus I had to go back to Dollmore's site to see how to put the costume on. There was a short piece that I thought was a skirt but they show it as a cape. I didn't order any extras but they still sent me a gift: a black knit top for MSD and long black stockings, both of which I can definitely use. Her face-up is very pink. I'll see how I like it once I get her completely dressed. I might change out her wig. I don't know--I'll see.
Ah yeah, mine arrived yesterday, but no one was home. D: So my mom is picking her up for me on Monday, and I'll get her Friday. But yeah, same thing, they said they would ship in a week, but I didn't think the actual shipping would take so little. It went from Korea to California in two days. o-o
I got my Rose Zinna dressed, except for a gold chain and the flowers on her wrists. I couldn't remember where the chain goes. I looked at the website again and it appears to be a belt. As for the flowers, I got tired of tying bows so I didn't bother. The wig is that odd shade of blonde that seems to have a greenish cast. If I'm not mistaken, it's the same wig that came with my Zaoll Luv. I'll see if anything else in my stash looks good. The sky eventually cleared so I took a few photos. Still need to get them into my computer and see if anything is good enough to post.
Everything attaches with ribbons. So it's lots of bows--or lots of knots. The only thing that doesn't tie on is the jewelry belt. I tried a pink wig on her and I love how it looks. I'll try to get photos today (if the sun stays out). Edited to add photo. Here she is with the pink wig. IMG_3647 by Lorraine, on Flickr
Ooh yeah, the pink wig looks better. The only thing that I'm not fond of with the outfit is the cape with the corset combo kinda makes it look like she doesn't have a neck. xD I might leave the cape off.
One thing I'm finding about this outfit is that the corset sits high and makes her chest look even bigger than it is. The corset has boning and is really stiff, which makes her hard to pose. With the torso joints held tight like that, her upper body doesn't flex. Here's a pic without the cape and with the default wig. IMG_3611 by Lorraine, on Flickr
I'll let you try that with yours if you're brave enough. I don't think the boning is made of wire. Thank you! I like it, too. I also have a dark red wig that I want to try. It should work well.
I looooove that red wig. OMG. It's perfect. Mmm yeah, the boning is plastic. My guess would be a zip tie. That's what they use in cheap people corsets and it feels about the same. I'd say when she's not in use, put a rubber band around the top, and it should eventually form to her shape a bit better. I had about an hour to dress mine, and at my mom's house, so no spare parts or wigs. http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c...10211548793333690_733959793_o_zpsp0xjgkkr.jpg I laced it like I do for my corsets, and it sits almost perfect, but I'll still have to do a bit of gradual bending to get it just right.
@Kielin - How exactly did you lace yours? From your photobucket pic it looks like you tied it in the middle, but did you start at the top and leave the bottom unlaced or was it the other way around? I'll have to try that. I got my girl into a better position during this last round of photos (with the red wig). I pretty much forced her torso to bend and the corset bent with her. Maybe it will relax in time. Don't know if you noticed, but you can pull on the red ribbons in the lace channel on the flowered skirt and they'll gather the sides. There's a price to pay for the extra poufiness, however: two more bows to tie! My girl will keep the red wig. It's from LeekeWorld/DollGa and the color is called dark carrot. Frankly, I've never seen a carrot that color. Congrats on finally picking up your Scents of a Rose Zinna!
I laced it like I lace my own corsets. Without the shawl thing under it, it was actually sitting just about right. Here's how to lace it. http://corsets.matazone.co.uk/images/how-to-lace-a-corset/how-to-lace-a-corset.gif That seems to be a good guide all in one image. **And yeah, don't worry about having the right distance in the back like it says. It's actually really tight to her body, so you don't see anything under the ribbon. If you pull hard enough. Here's how you want to tie it off. Just worry about #11-14. How to Lace Your Corset If your fingers aren't going to do that, I tied it in a regular knot, then did the kind of knot you do on the doll's elastic, not sure what it's called. Yeah, I just didn't feel like tying more bows at 1 am. xD I know there are purple carrots. Not sure about red. It's really pretty though.
Thanks for the references. The first image looked simple and easy to understand; the second was confusing despite multiple images. I think what threw me in the second was the lack of any ribbon ends in the diagrams. I can see doing this on a doll if you use two lengths of ribbon: one that starts at the top and one that starts at the bottom so that they meet in the middle. That way you can cinch the waist as tight as you want.
It doesn't have any actual ends. You want to lace it loose and knot it right at the bottom, and hide that knot behind the grommet. So your 'ends' are going to be the loops in the middle. Here's a good video. Definitely easier on dolls! xD
I thought about it after I posted and it occurred to me that there must be a hidden knot in there. The video was very instructive--actually better than looking at the illustrations in the previous links. I'm only glad I never got into Steampunk cosplay, because I'd never squeeze myself into something like that!
Yeah. It keeps everything in place better, and looking nicer. This is how I have mine. IMG_1054.JPG I would have hidden the knot behind, but my hands didn't want to try that that late at night. xD I gotta get it more even at some point, but it's hot this time of year and I don't want to deal with much at this point. And, it's not that bad. I don't tight lace. I even have asthma and I don't have problems breathing in them, but I don't lace them much past snug. It's just nice not having fat bulges.
Definitely going to relace my girl's corset to tie in the middle. It's not so hot here, so maybe it won't try my patience too much. I'll take a pic when I get it done.
Lol, yeah, it's just insane right now here. 110F+, too hot. Been having to wait on painting my other Judith, cause I can't stand being out of the bedroom. xD
Dollmore has listed the two Beginning of War Judiths: one Zinna and one Tara. I love the face-ups, but have no use for the outfits. (And you'd think they could have finished the hats so as not to show a bunch of stray metallic threads on the forehead.) Luckily I have no doll money at the moment, or I could find an excuse to buy the doll and sell the clothing.
Oooh, yeah. The face-up is nice. I don't like those eyes with it though. But the outfit is ugly, yeah.
Hi! There are new photos of my Dörtje Elverdink and Fränzchen. and More photos here: /threads/in-vintage-frame.768592/ /threads/bohemian-mood.768593/
Was it MSD size? I always worry clothing that size won't fit Judith's bust. I wish Dollmore would sell clothing made for Judith girls. Sometimes I just need a break from the limited outfits that came with the dolls.
vermont chick: Yes, MSD size. I figured because of the kimono style/apron piece on top it would be fine, but I can tell Zinna filled out the material more than most dolls would! I usually just try all my MSD clothes on her some work just fine. Previously she was in a stretchy tank top and jeans.
