DollLove Baby Love (1/6 Dolls) discusion part 1

Aww, thank you so much!!! I love sewing cute little outfits for her And yeah, these little guys are pretty solid, though I was previously having some trouble with her legs and after researching decided to hot-glue suede her. Now she doesn't budge and will hold poses especially well, which is great for photography!

I'm so enjoying my YoSDs, though I don't think I'll be getting any more. I didn't realize how much fun tiny child things could be. I'm more into fantasy and steampunk-themed dolls.

Thank you, it was one of the things that drew me to her sculpt! I love steampunk and fantasy as genres, so seeing them as dolls is so exciting!! I love yosds cause they're portable but there's something good in every size~

No problem, Zephie is one of my oldest but dearest so I'm always happy to bring her back out! She's a Yiyi!

 

Yup, she's a You You! And yeah, I'm quite surprised at how fun and cute YoSDs are! I only have one now, so I'm considering getting another one so my girl has a friend her size lol

 

I've got 3 OT YoSDs, and so far my fave is the Doll Love. I have a dreamy-eyed You-you and she's super cute. I love the feel of the resin, it's got some tooth and grain to it. Also she poses nicely, when compared to my poor little Angel Fantasy guy.

 

A Wee Tiefling, YouYou is a great sculpt! I love her sweet little face. I think my next Doll Love tiny will be a dreamy-eyed YouYou.

Gah! I'm so bummed to revive this thread with such bad news.

I went to order a dreamy-eyed YouYou at Alice's Collection and noticed that Doll Love was no longer listed on their site. I immediately went to the Legend Doll and Dolk sites, and Doll Love was no longer listed on their sites either.

I contacted Alice's Collection about this and this is the response I got:

"Dear Rabbit ^^,

Thank you for your email.
Doll Love has discontinued all their dolls so we're not listing them on our site now, I'm sorry we're not sure whether they'll be back in the future or not...

I can't believe this has happened! I know Doll Love dolls weren't very popular, but I never thought they'd close their doors without any notice. I'm really sad about this.

 

Oh no!!! one of my most favorite dolls came from this company, I'm so disappointed

I'm going to treasure my girl even more now, that's for sure. For them to close so suddenly makes me hope that everyone's okay over there

It's very sad, as the potential reasons for the closing could be even more so. The best thing to do is treasure what we do have and be thankful we were able to have them and continue to enjoy what we have.

 

Doll love is changing into Guard Love, they have new bodies and many new heads. They have 2 new youyou and the body is so much better. So far i only see them in their Taobao shop but i planning to get the new yy in the future.

I'm a little disappointed to see that all of their old 1/6 sculpts are gone. I guess I'll have to try and find a dreamy-eyed YouYou in the marketplace someday.

Hello! I've been away from the hobby for a few years and was saddened to see that Doll-Love had closed and discontinued their old sculpts. The Guard-Love sculpts all look so adorable though, so I'm excited about them! I love that new body, too. I kinda wanna get one for my girl lol.

Anyways, my whole crew is getting ready to get a full makeover, and this girl will look completely different when I'm done with her, but for now, here's a little bit of my YouYou, Chiasa, as she is now.

Thank you for all the love for my girl! I had a question. I'm going to be getting her some new eyes and I wanted to go to a much smaller size. What would you guys recommend for YouYou? I was thinking 12mm, but I wanted to see some examples if anybody has them?

 

I have YiYi. I gave her 11/12mm silicone from Eyeco.

 

Wish I could help with your question, ChibiBel. But, all my Doll Love sweeties wear 14mm eyes.

Reviving this thread to ask if anyone have any of the new Guard Love dolls or bodies? I am especcially curious about the Elder Sister body.
(And possibly to suggest that the thread title is changed so that it comes up in searches for the company?)

 

I have a Guard Love Miegu on the 6.0 body, I love the smaller size

 

Lillith, sorry, I haven't purchased any of the Guard Love dolls. They are really cute, but I was a huge fan of the company's original aesthetic. The new dolls are so different now, it truly seems like it's a totally different company, not only in name but in doll design as well.

To change the name of the thread would certainly need to be discussed with the Forum Moderators. if they were to change the thread name I could see, perhaps, a combination of the two names, "Doll Love/Guard Love (1/6 dolls)".

It might make more sense, and would probably be less confusing, if you started a new thread for their new company name, "Guard Love (1/6 dolls)".

Note: When Cerberus Project left Luts and started their own company, the Moderators split the original thread into 3 threads: one for original CP Delfs, one for Luts' Delfs, and one for Cerberus Project's company, Fairyland.

The new dolls are very pretty, but some of them do have a disitnctly different look than the old ones.
I'll see about starting new thread, I don't realy know enough about the company to know what to include, but I'll figure it out.

Hey Kitty Writer’s Dolls, I see by your signature section that you are a big Doll Love fan. You are a Collector after my own heart. I love the old Doll Love sculpts, too.. I wish you luck in finding them.

I have such a soft spot for their 1/6 dolls. I’m still looking for Half-closed eyes YouYou, and a little boy, Zozo. I could kick myself that I didn’t get them when I had the chance.

 

Woo hoo! I'm always glad to meet more Doll Love fans! I have been able to find 11 unique sculpts since the company closed and I'm up to 13 total Doll Love dolls . The little ones are so cute! I currently have a YouYou, a Yiyi, and and YanYan ... that is a lot of 'Y's. I'm on the lookout for a Ke and an MK.

If I see a half-closed YouYou or a Zozo on my travels, I shall let you know!

As soon as I figure out how to share photos, I definitely will! I've been on this forum since 2014 and I'm still only about as tech-savvy as unsliced bread . I do need to make doll profiles for them one of these days - that kind of photo I have figured out.

I have this outfit set (ruffle bloomers)! I was able to find it second-hand. YouYou is so sweet! Do you happen to know why they chose to list YouYou as 'Grapefruit' in some places? Although, 'Sleepy Grapefruit' is a really cute name.

 

Kitty, that outfit is so CUTE! I was planning to order the Half-closed-eyes YouYou in that same outfit when I was informed by Alice’s Collection that Doll Love was gone. *cries*

Actually, I think the only seller I ever saw advertise YouYou as “Grapefruit” was a bjd doll store called Mint on Card. (I could be wrong.) But, MOC was very well known and popular, back in the day. I never knew the rationale behind that differentiation. But, clearly, it’s just a variation of YouYou. They had normal resin colored YouYou as YouYou. The white resin version was listed as Grapefruit. Go figure.

Sleepy Grapefruit is a cute name.

 

It is odd. On BJD Collectasy she is also listed as YouYou 2 or Grapefruit - depending on the post. It does seem that only the v. 2 is ever listed as Grapefruit though.

I hope you can find the outfit as well as your Sleepy Grapefruit very soon!
