St James, how did I miss seeing you and your Kaspar?? We walked down the waterfront by the rapids too. I took my Dollfie Dream girl Miki with me to the falls but didn't have my camera. Hopefully my friends' pics of her will turn out! The sun was definitely in the wrong place on the American side of the falls for good photos. Linda S. galatia9
Oh, I saw you on the overlook thing then! I didn't even bother to take Kaspar out of the bag there because he would have been totally backlit. When we came back from our somewhat pointless venture to above the Cave of Winds, I was so sleepy all I could do was sit on a bench and watch squirrels, even though everyone was chatting right there at the bus stop. If I ever go back, I'm going in the morning - better light and less heat!
Some of Peak's Woods lovelies. I am still regretting not being quick enough to snap up one of them! Peak's Woods at Dollism USA by ??Anna??, on Flickr
Turtledove that is a cute picture! Anna, I stalked "my" PW girl all weekend...I didn't cave until Sunday...
I waited too long and the ones I really wanted were sold out by the time I decided! Which one did you get?
I love seeing the PeaksWood dolls in person. They are all so lovely. *sigh* I'm just now getting around to uploading some photos. I got to spend Monday in Niagara. It was rainy in the afternoon, but the sunset was sunny--so I got to see the rainbow(double) while looking at the horseshoe falls from the Canadian side. --Although I didn't take my dolls with me. It was kind of scary with all that rushing water--I was worried about my phone accidentally falling into it!--so definitely no dolls!
I did. That's probably why not many people recognized him. I do have his Shiwoo head, but it desperately needs repainting.
ahhh! I ended up purchasing the guy in white in you pic XD They were so beautiful in person, I was shocked how quickly the ladies went, by the end of the weekend all the boys had lost their partners hahahaha
Congratulations!!! I'd love to see more pictures of him - he was one of my favorites! Here's a picture of three of the Switch boys - Seowo, Soseo and Seolrok: Switch Boys at Dollism USA by ??Anna??, on Flickr I wish the lighting in the vendor hall was better. My images didn't come out as nicely as I had hoped
Everyone took such amazing photos!! I can't even....mine suck XD so I probably won't post too many here, but I'm uploading them all to my Flickr. Slowly. A small group at a time. I need to start a new Dollism list: things I need to do better. 1.Photos. One that didn't turn out too bad I was totally in love with this girl. If I had all the money in the world she would have gone home with me. Along with four or five Peakswoods and at least one Lati and one of these Dearmine cats!
Many of my pictures came out blurry and/or grainy, so I'm glad everybody with better cameras got all the good shots of the dealers' room and contest dolls already! I've got some fun snapshots to share, though. Hanging out in the sun-drenched glass atrium on Friday afternoon... Maitalia's stunning Volks Yukinojo & green Dollshe hulk Double your pleasure: SDink's and Whitemouthgag's Ringdoll Lucifers Cute kids A winsome trio at the room sales Robin (my Volks SDC Ryu) sharing fashion tips with VampireAngel13's Alex #3 Mr. Gorgeous Incredible Perfect Profile is arrowchild's Glorydoll Louis. It was an honor and a pleasure to finally meet them both after all these years! Robin & Ripley go cruisin' on that big white Harley, down Spring Street somewhere in Korea... I loved this odd little cutie at the contest table! Glyndon's Dollfamily boy. The girl with the winking cleavage, she rocked my other pair of soxx0rz off. After their Harley ride, on their way to the ramen shop, Ripley & Robin stop at the art gallery... [continued...]
It's been an exciting day! Time to refuel with enormous bowls of Toronto-style ramen. Ripley & Robin stop to eat with the most wonderful Soom Auber sprite. Jimmy (my Volks Rei-Tenshi) never misses an opportunity to dive into a bowl of ramen bigger than himself. Man's got a long night at the bar ahead of him, need to fuel up. A fabulous kitsune Jubei's totally edible Elias (Switch Waseon) Siriusstar's elegant Sabik Jimmy at the bar Robin & Ripley knocking back a few with MacaronTea's sweet Little Monica boy (that guy can drink an amazing amount of booze and still keep his sock-garters straight) ... ohh, and there's my new bro friend in the background, this scruffy jock type from Albany who was in town with some bro friends for the Bills game tomorrow. He gave me a cigarette and refused to believe I was really 44 years old and didn't quite get the whole doll thing. xD You always meet a whole cross-section of humanity when you go scrounging for a cigarette at a hotel bar. Sunday morning at the Tiny Triathlon: FunnyLori's Volks Yo-SD Eddie, whom I wanted to stuff into my bra and dash away with. ... But no dashing away, no, we had 3 hours to complete 3 feats of impromptu skill involving tape, scissors, a camera, and huge sheets of wrapping-paper that had to all somehow fit onto one doll's body. Ripley had the rotten luck to get chosen to be my subject. He came out looking like a sort of Chinese-Aztec runway model or videogame character. And for the third challenge, he had to somehow wear a headdress made out of somebody else's wrapping-paper outfit, so we just turned this sailor-moon-y ballgown upside down. Again he came out looking sort of Aztec. xD Epilogue: In the hotel gift shop, I scored the ultimate addition to my collection of weird snowglobes! It's freakin' gigantic Buffalo wings in front of a lighthouse and the city skyline! Chicken wings in the snow!! I want to die, it's so perfect. It's hard to decide whether my favorite swag of the weekend was the gorgeous metallic-chartreuse Enchanted Doll eyeballs or the chicken-wings-in-the-snow snowglobe. I realize that I am a very sick person. Great party!!
I did not take any pics as I was so out of it and stressed but it's great to see all these! also by looking through them made me realize how much I missed and did not see O_O JennyNemesis: Jimmy + Cocktail bar = Jan XD I'm so glad you brought him...lol he cracks me up! and ya, that Bloody MAry was sooo good! next time that is what I am getting XD
Thank you everyone who's shared photos so far! I would have loved to see those Crobi boys in person. Those photo sets look really fun!
OK! I DID see you, Jennynemesis! Well your boy anyway - LOL I got roped in as a judge in the mini-Triathalon. Loved that headdress
Ahh, I'm sorry I missed recognizing you, then! A near-miss. We'll remember to formally meet next time. Boy that triathlon was hard. Clothing design/crafting are not among my talents; I'm great at wrapping presents, though, so maybe next time we could get away from the fashion aspect and use that paper to make fabulous packages of our dolls. That one I could win. ^^ Oh, I forgot to add links if anybody cares to leaf through the entire Photobucket.... it's got three sub-albums (one per day). Fri: http://s16.photobucket.com/user/Pen... That's my Glorydoll Louis, Ciel I still swoon over his profile I'm so glad people got so many great photos. Most of mine turned out pretty grainy, (the ones that are clear are 90% people so I'll refrain from posting on DOA lol)
Love the Lusions in the strollers and Ripley & Robin on the motorcycle JennyNemesis!! Wish I could've gone to this. I reallly want to go to a big event like this again. Anyone know where the next one will be? It would be cool to go on a 'dollie trip' again, lol.....if my pocketbook doesn't hate me. Love your 'Lucy' Cheryl, and of course your Grant photographs LOVELY. I am stalking all the photo albums I can find on this event. Trying to get a glimpse of some Costume Contest shots.... Clara (mysticaldolldreams) entered her Saint as Jareth from Labyrinth. From the few pix I've seen Darling Elizabeth did a *phenomenal* job on that coat he wore. Anyone have any pix of that? I believe he came in first place.
Oh yes of course, Glorydoll! Thanks! He's just not someone I get to run into every day. He's like a long-lost blast from the past and I think he just deserves to be so famous for that profile. I remember we shared a good long squee over him (I assume that was your room). It was so hard to keep my brain together by that point on Friday night, trying to shop & socialize coherently was a challenge. I suppose exhaustion did lower my resistance-thresholds for shopping, because I came away from the room sales with a few choice trinkets. :3 ETA: Here's another link, I made a separate show for Robin and Ripley's photo-set adventures in the Gallery. : http://www.denofangels.com/forums/s...olks-SDC-Ryu-amp-Iplehouse-JID-Colin-img-hvy)
Chehime, I think earlier in this thread, or one of the other Dollism threads, the organizer said that it could be held anywhere that has a nearby airport. The only reason it was held in Buffalo this year was because the sponsor and organizers live in that area. Early on, I believe they looked at having it in Niagara. But, it was too expensive. So, it would depend on where the sponsors and organizers lived as to where another one might be held.
Ok, I'll only post a few pictures here, but I posted an album on my Flickr full of my dollie pictures from Dollism! Click here to see 100+ pictures from Dollism weekend! Switch boys! I took home that Waseon, the 2nd from the right. ;3 Soom mermaid girls! Awesome prop one of the Soom dudes was holding. EYES!!! I think this is a Dollmore lady? Correct me if I'm wrong! Nalisinko Workshop dress that looked like a delicious cake! Val Zeitler girl. Peakswoods girls. My Lieselotte & Williams taking a nice, family portrait with a couple of the adorable Angell-Studio little animals I won in Saturday's charity raffle. And my Lieselotte being naughty and taking pin-up pictures on the motorcycle. ^^;
I was happy to get roped into judging the mini-Triathalon because, honestly, those people were super creative and I was impressed!
Thank you for posting those! I was standing near you in some of the photos of SDink in the cafe area. I do remember you, but, omg, I begin to think you may be a chameleon! Lol! Pity I couldn't have my time back to say hello to you proper! XD
Next time I will carry a pen & some post-its and write everybody's name down! (As if we don't already have enough stimuli to juggle, while at a con... After taking in the sights and sounds and dolls and faces, the names fall out of the short-term memory pile... I would probably just forget to write things down, too.)
jennyNemesis I see you took pics in Miss Emily's room I was one of her roommates so you did get pics of my dolls LOL Also I remember running over to your group Friday cause of the Dollshe Grant doll OMG I had the Onulharu doll
A very BIG THANK YOU to all of you that took photos and posted them! Some gorgeous and cool photos! I love them all. I failed miserably at taking photos during Dollism for some reason. I think I was so busy working up to this event that when the time came, I sorta just fell apart. Ah well. There is always next time. It's hard to believe that Dollism has already come and gone … Wow.
@Pris84, did I already hug you enough in return for those Aero Bars? I finished both the strawberry one and the caramel one before the week was out. I am starting to get this deep Pavlovian association with seeing you + Aero Bars. : @Teleri, now I am sure we met without knowing! That Dollshe Grant had a big audience that day-- sitting near him was a great way to meet people. Muy guapo.
JennyNemesis, the YoSD Eddie was mine, it was great meeting you again! (It's been ages and ages since Gogadoll and it was kind of a blur in one of the panels then, when you checked my ID. XD) I kept thinking to myself that I should have brought one of my bigger more recognizable dolls down with me, but I was so tired of carrying them around before the con even started. The charmer on the contest table is Glyndon's Dollfamily practice head that she modified and made the horns for. She gave him teeth!
I didn't take too many photos of the vendors or anything (thank you to those that did! I sure wish I had), but I DID love the photosets - and took a ton of photos there! Here are a number of my Tiny Delf centaur Kai, who demanded to have pictures in a number of the photosets - his size or NOT. http://www.denofangels.com/forums/s...-NY-tiny-delf-centaur&p=11076479#post11076479
I still have pictures at the sets to edit, but I wanted to add a picture of my girl with the lovely bag of gifts I won, donated by the Doll North organizers, who hosted the Name That Sculpt competition. SaturnRose, starobot, and one other very nice person whose name I foolishly did not catch were all very kind hosts and organizers, and I had a blast! XD Thank you so much! And a full list of the items is on my Flickr.
Haha! It's probably my inner grandma coming out trying to fatten you up! I will gladly bring you Aero bars in as many flavours as I can find whenever I visit your corner of the world. You'll have to let me know if you have a favourite flavour.
Oh thank you! The Eddie I was pretty sure whose it was, but we had moved around during the morning, and "oh wait, I sat next to more than one person that day, what if it wasn't Lori's?", and my fragile memory didn't want to trust itself. ^^ Thank you for identifying the Dollfamily cutie with the teeth. He just has the neatest expression, sort of bashful but sort of blase, like a teenager. The caramel one was amazing. But y'know, they're Aero Bars, it's not really about the flavor, it's about the bubbles. I'm not even that big on chocolate per se, but damn, those bubbles! Addictive!
DearMine Picasso Bean in white resin. I loved the display DearMine put together - lots of cute! DearMine Picasso Bean at Dollism USA by ??Anna??, on Flickr
https://www.flickr.com/photos/111603693@N05/sets/72157648054868891/ here is a link to my album with all the pictures I took on my trip! There are a lot because we drove up! I had so much fun, I wish I had taken more pictures of the vendor room and all the lovely dolls I got to see!
Dollism Plus 2014 was so much fun! Unfortunately, as I've seen some other people mention, most of my pics from the vendor room came out blurry. These were the only ones during that weekend that came out halfway decent. Thank you to everyone else who posted and shared their pictures from that weekend. Amazing Cersei Lannister - an entry in the costume contest Another amazing entry for costume contest Wow - entry for face-up contest I love this - Groot! Salem relaxing in the hotel room with his fave chips Salem and Jinx posing on the cool motorcycle set Jericho outside at Niagara
VuDu, your Salem is awesome! How many alternate heads does he have? Love your Jinx too, those little cats are so cool! Linda S. galatia9
Some little girls at Dollism! My new Darak Ali, with LTF Bisou in her new dress, and Doll Leaves Lian still without a dress! [/IMG] Darak Ali on the very big bed in the photo area. California king? [/IMG] Bisou and Ali are joined by LeekeWorld Mabel who looks a bit rumpled after changing out of her Planet Of The Apes ball gown. I had so much fun making it! And didn't even take a picture! The Sushi Restaurant was absolutely beautiful. Amazing work and detail went into it. [/IMG]
Oh, was that your scary monkey-girl in the excellent circus-tent gown? If so, I'd say she deserves a big meaty bowl of ramen after all that hard work wearing that! Here: Again, blurry.... my camera was just not up to the lighting in that room. ;; But I figured, they're snapshots, not art shots....
Hi Linda, Thank you so much. Salem has the Dollshe faceplate system and I have 4 different ones for him at this point. I love Eve the Cat's critters too. I'm eyeing the dragon right now, although trying to design one of my own instead.
So many lovely dolls!!!! I will be happy when I get to go to my first doll meet well that is when I get the courage to go ^ ^
I took pictures of all the costuming, faceup, and modification entries and they are on my Flickr: https://www.flickr.com/photos/robbin_with_2_bs/sets/72157647630647498 I didn't get any pictures of the photography contest because my flash caused a glare. My entry won first place in the Masquerade Atelier contest. I was soooooo delighted. There were a lot of very creative, beautifully crafted entries so winning any prize was very meaningful. My doll's inspiration is Miss Havesham in Great Expectations by Dickens. She is MSD Narae with the Heartbreak face. I made her gown out of leather, lace, silk, vintage netting from an actual vintage wedding dress, wool, and misc. trims. I decorated her stand with table cloth fabric, and with bottles and glassware from the wedding feast on one side. On the other side are a mirror, a clock with a broken crystal (I made it from and old watch) and little book of Great Expectations. I put wool over it all to resemble cob webs. Her mask is heart shaped and the face is smiling, while the doll's face is sad -- which goes with the storyline of the jilted bride. Winning this was a huge deal for me -- I still really can't believe it. Doll Chateau Stacy was the prize for first place. She's an amazing doll. I've never won anything this cool before. Here she is relaxing in the hotel room Saturday night. She found this wig in my room sales stuff and claimed that. Now, she's wondering about some clothes... Here are 2 entries that I really loved in the Faceup and Modification categories: And here is my favorite picture that I took of the falls: I started pinning pictures on a Pinterest board but I don't have a lot on there yet. There is Flickr group for Dollism and there are some fun pictures there: https://www.flickr.com/groups/2695761@N25/
Thank you for posting the picture! I was so interested in all the dolls that I never slowed down enough to take a picture. All the entries were beautiful and it was interesting to see the differences in how people interpreted the contests. Congratulations to all who won and placed and thanks to those who entered. I only wish there were more categories in which to vote like there was for the couture contest. It was hard to choose one entry when there were so many I liked. Thanks again! I appreciate it.
I was fortunate enough to be a spectator for the Tiny Triathlon! I took a few photos of the entries in the first event. And a few of my favorite Costuming, Modification, and Faceup Entries. I wish I had taken more of everything, but I was running around that I completely forgot to! Photos here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/kitkaze/sets/72157647838096320/ I was BEYOND flattered that my Extreme Modification Entry won 1st, I did Groot from Guardians of the Galaxy. There were so many amazing things done it was truly hard to believe they all looked the same at one time! Groot-Final by foxwindstudios, on Flickr I won a Only Doll Jing Yu, here he is standing next to a MNF A line body. He's HUGE! 2014-09-23 17.36.18 by foxwindstudios, on Flickr But he has a lovely face! 2014-09-23 17.36.11 by foxwindstudios, on Flickr My favorite entry won 2nd by Bird of Hermes (I believe), the teacup! We're still trying to figure which of the other entries came in 3rd. 2014-09-20 15.41.34 by foxwindstudios, on Flickr
I posted all the contest entries on my blog. I really wish the lighting was better at the vendor hall! I had to max out all camera settings to avoid using flash, which resulted in very mediocre photos. But, at least I was able to get pictures of each entry (I hope!), except for the photography contest. It was impossible to do justice to the lovely photos with my camera. Dollism Plus USA Contest Entries
RobbinA --wonderful entry! Definitely deserving of a prize. Congrats! ---------- I finally uploaded photos of Dollism to Photobucket. They aren't great (I have a tiny old camera and just took quick pics of odds and ends--plus I'm not a great photographer). If anyone wants to download any of the con, feel free. I really liked your brief comments on all the entries. It was really nice to consider the things you pointed out. I also liked knowing how the entries placed. Does anyone know what the sculpt is for number 40 in the extreme modification? I really liked her and the modification was incredible. I also really liked her outfit. I wonder how the artists felt about modifying their dolls so much in this particular contest? I'd have had to have worked up a lot if courage! I thought they were fantastic.
