Jul 25, 2018

    1. Hello Everyone! Otakuthon is Quebec's largest anime convention promoting Japanese animation, Japanese graphic novels, related gaming and Japanese pop-culture. DollFest is an Otakuthon sub-event dedicated to both BJDs and Asian Dolls. The BJD community in Quebec is constantly growing and to celebrate this, DollFest was created.

This year DollFest will take place on the 4th and 5th of August.

    2. Sounds good! Are we allowed to set up for the market at two or a bit later?

    3. It all depends on how long it will take people to tidy up their belongings after the workshop but I can't think of any other reason not to :)

    4. Awww thanks for the info, Lawrah. I'm excited to attend!

    5. Are the panels mostly in French, aside from the ones marked bilingual?

    6. Hi! I'd be inclined to say there's a healthy balance of both languages.
All of the events that aren't marked bilingual (like the meetups and the marketplace) are usually a good mix of English and French.
There are two managers for DollFest, my first language is English and my associate's first language is French. If you find yourself at a vendor and you want to buy something but you're having a communication problem feel free to poke one of us, we can help. :)
We don't want anyone to feel left out.

    7. That is wonderful thank you! I am to be learning French starting this upcoming semester, but currently know almost nothing. Very excited :) Thank you!

    8. From the DollFest Facebook page:

We would like to thank everyone who came to DollFest this year. There were so many beautiful dolls that we could barely get all of them in one photo! Deep discussions were had about the hobby and we even got our hands dirty and explored faceups together. The marketplace this year was visited by a staggering amount of people, some of whom were on the lookout for their first doll. We cannot thank you enough for taking time during the convention to not only visit us, but for participating in our events, sharing your stories, and displaying your amazing dolls.

Knowing how much enthusiasm and excitement there is for DollFest inspires us to continue improving the event to bring more content in the future. Feel free to give us your feedback in the comments below, we would love to know what you would like to see for next year.
We are looking forward to seeing you again at DollFest 2019! [IMG]
