DollFamily -H and -A mini dolls discussion

I have a doll family SD girl. I don't know much about their MSD sized dolls but I'm very happy with their SD body. The posability is amazing. I will say that the head molds are not as refined as some companies, but the bodies are lovely. If there is a head mold you like definitely go for it. I purchased an SD boy for my hubby for Christmas because he liked my girl so much. She is very dependable, this is my third time ordering a doll from her.

I haven't had a chance to get pictures of my girl yet (she was off getting a face up) but I will try to post some later.

 

While I've never bought an entire doll from Family Doll, I've bought a body & it was excellent, stood right out of the box, was very flexible, held all sorts of poses. Very nice bod for the price. Truthfully though, compared to the price I paid for the body, the dolls seem very expensive. They're lovely but I'm not sure they're worth that price.

 

I have a Doll Familly SD (Xuan). He is older body type but despite that, I am very content. I think they are pretty much worth the money (If not more) because they are well made. I can´t speak about the resin quality as I am not experienced on that but I had no problems whatsoever.
And I also ardered from Dolls singing on ebay and I can recomend her too, I had no problems with her and she has good prices.

 

I have a Zhouyu msd from DF, I absolutely love him. The companys face up is gorgeous and he came very well packaged. As well as /great/ pose-ability. I'm getting my second Doll from DF, though it's a 1/3. My friend has ordered the Angel model after I showed her their store.

The only issues I"ve been having with my boy is one elbow sticks, but that's an individual problem, not an actual problem. The newer ones have him in more varying poses as I started getting more comfortable with seeing what he can do.

I'm in the process of ordering a Doll Family Wind, blank and in the NS-yellow resin, not the NS-pink which I've heard is rather quite pink, even darker than DoD.

XD Well as I've a preferance for red hair myself (I dye mine the brightest shade I can find!) I vote for red, but for contrast I'd go with the gold eyes. Up to you though.

^-^ Thanks. They're custom eyes from Adrastea here on DOA. I think her shop is still down right now as she isn't feeling well, but she took my order for his eyes along with my BBB Sprite's eyes anyhow, because she's awesome and I wasn't in any hurry. I told her to take her time, I didn't want to make her feel worse. She's done the eyes for three of my four guys now, I have some of her first custom eyes in my DZ. ^-^

I'll try to get them loaded tonight or tomorrow but I have a baby shower for my friend tomorrow so... XD

They fit REALLY well! He seems to be about the same size as my DZ doll except.... X3

When I'm pulling them up they sorta get stuck a little at the thighs, the waist does. I keep calling him 'thunder thighs' when I have to wiggle them up all the way, and he's got this cute sort of bubble butt so they get stuck there, too. Once I get them up though, they fit perfect around the waist, not too tight and not too loose.

 

I have that issue with Danihen. His hips and butt make it so that his flat DM pants don't fit over his thighs, and I'm too nervous to yank them over. That and there isn't really anything to pull onto, like the seams would rip >>

 

I sort of 'push' them. I hold his torso and put my hand around the front and the sides and push them up, so that I don't pull on the seams, and then I just give really small tugs to undo the bunching that pushing them makes.

 

I don't think pushing works.. might work better for the MSDs than the SDs I think... Here's an example of my new SD that I was able to push and bunch his pants up onto him x.x Still won't close. http://i31.tinypic.com/2lo4t50.jpg

 

Awwww!! Bad weather! I want to see pictures of his tats! I'd also like to know how that whole process goes... I'm tempted to get some MSC and then take some acrylics or something to my doll... Can it be acrylics or does it only have to be non-oil pastels?

 

chalk pastels and acrylics are good I believe. I need to get some from the store. I can't seem to find MSC or Testors Dullcote.

 

I used acrylic paint on his face-up. ^-^ Acrylic pains are fine, just be sure to thin them, or they gob. XP Really Umber? I got my Testors from the model cars section, which is the only place I seem to be able to find it. XD Hobby Lobby doesn't stock MSC. XP

 

I used Testors because it was all I had access to for a while, and it's better than nothing, but I did hate it - it yellowed and got dirty really easily. Some people swear by it, though, so YMMV.

 

I've not noticed mine yellowing or getting dirty easily. My MSC'd doll gets dirt on him way easier than my two with Testors, and one has a full body painting done with Testors over it. I think it just depends.

I like his face anyhow. And yours isn't bad! Possibly layer some more colour on the lips, as they seem to fade into the face, but perhaps you like a very nude mouth. ^-^

 

Yeah i know his brows are uneven, but I like the weird quirky expression they give him when wigged. xD As for the lips, yeah. I don't dig all that lip lining and stuff. He'll be getting a redo once i get some more acrylics and some pastels that are a better shade of pink. It was weird, i was trying to add some color to his top lip and it refused to take any of it. So I guess he was like "dude i'm good. STOP IT." and I let it be.

Well, you have to do more than one layer of pastels, because once the 'tooth' of the sealant is full, you have to spray a second layer and put more on. If you just keep adding tot he first layer, you'll start removing what you already put down.

Does anyone else like how defined the DF boy's collarbones are? I think it's a really attractive feature.

Edit: bought some ringdoll clothing. It'd fit if his badonkadonk didn't pull them so tight in the front.

I suppose no one looks or posts here now, and there aren't anymore DF guys, but I did take some photos of mine... In the snow even. He wants a long leather duster now. >->;



At least he had a hood... That he refused to wear. -_-

 

I own an MSD Rain and he is so adorable. It's so odd how these dolls seem to have characters of their own. Anyone else's DF doll totally opposed to wearing clothes? They all seem to have a mischievous streak to them once they arrived. Rain looked SO SWEET in the product pictures, but obviously it didn't turn out that way. Here's a picture of his default faceup.

 

KaywinnitLeeFrye, my but he's a stunning doll. Do you have more pictures of him anywhere? I've been hanging out for some owner pics of this little guy as he's on the short list for next possible doll. What's his body like? Is that his default face up?Oh and is that the NS-P skin?

 

Take spends a lot of time showing off his chest. >-> Which totally makes me want to find a modder who can work on his body and give it some definition a la the RS bodies I already have. Just some faint muscle tone. So yeah, they definitely are not clothes-wearing guys. X3 Awesome to see another DF guy on the board, that's for sure!

That's a really nice default face-up. I bought my Wind blank and painted his face myself, since I had a specific character and therefore look in mind.



Another spam shot of Take, just for kicks. X3 He had a hood on, but he didn't want to wear it. He's in the default DZ Mo-2 outfit, without the long sleeved shirt, it's in a box because it's like... Satan. Stains everything. Horrible item. But yeah. The fur on the hood was an awesome contrast.

 

Sure, I have some from a meet. My personal camera isn't set up yet for photoshoots. And yes, that's the default faceup. He's normal pink skin, yeah. He's REALLY pink in person. And his body poses really well (especially for coming strung so tightly). The body itself is slightly shiny and is very smooth, and the shape is pretty young. And trust me, you'll want to wait on buying him pants until you get him. His butt is ROUND. Sir Mix-a-Lot would approve. Here are some pictures of him.





I got those shorts from Crobidoll and THAT BUTT basically refused to fit. If you want more photos of his body/face/joints/etc. Just let me know and I'll take some.

 

Lol I know all about the DF guy's junk in the trunk getting in the way. I had to WORK to get those leather pants on Take. XD Once you get them up they fit fine, but that BUTT! XD If it were a girl I would understand, but guys should not have butts that curvy.

I've just seen this thread and as my Isis is a Doll Family, there goes some spaaaaam!

She's a Zi You on a female body (msd) and she has a makeup from the company.

She has a wonderful body, does the japanese seiza sitting without any problem (double joints), stands like a rock, and has such a beautiful face.

 

Yes, this company has a lot of beautiful dolls and the prices are super!
And the quality of them is stupendous.

I think it's a chinese company, but correct me if I'm wrong...

I might get another from them some time or other, they have a couple more that I like ^_^...

They're a pretty hardy resin. Alder's had her DF Rain for over a year now and she keeps saying "he stands like a rock". He's taken a few falls here and there, but he's pretty sturdy

 

ooo Isis looks pretty good! I just ordered Aio 2days ago, is there anyone here that has ordered her or have her? Im happy to hear about them being good quality, despite the favourable prices. But im quiet worried about finding her shoes as her foot measurements look bigger than regular msd?

 

I've had my DF guy for about a year and he stands fine (the double joints on mine just don't work though, must be me.) and his feet fit the Dollzone shoes I had on my RS guy before. I haven't taken any new photos in a while though, so I don't have much to show ya'll. I do plan on picking up a couple more of these guys though, but in the SD size, as they don't have any more MSD's that fit my characters. I do like their affordable price range also, it's very awesome.

Isis is a msd and her feet are slightly bigger and larger than my Serendipity's, but I had ordered msd shoes from Dollmore that are too big for my Seredipity and fit perfectly my Doll Family (even with thicker socks!) Her feet might not fit into the small shoes that unoas wear, though (but I can only guess, as I have no unoa)

 

I actually can't identify from the Chinese name which doll you have. XD I got my Wind before they had separated the two types of dolls.

 

That sounds good, I might go on dollmore's website and look for some shoes. I do not know how big are the shoes that unoas wear either. I have a luts delf boy coming too which I hardly doubt they can share shoes, apart from the fact that hes going to get boy shoes heehee!

Hey there, folks. I'm really, really hoping that I've got the right thread here. (I've been on the forums for a few years, but only rarely post anything...)
Anyway, I'm planning on getting a Ling Yin! Yay me! The moment I saw her, I realized she was perfect for the character I have in mind. That kinda-squared off face! That deadpan expression! Fantastic.

Anyway, my concern is what to get for her. Eyes, 16 cm. Easy, easy. But what about wigs? Do any of you have a Ling Yin? According to MoC, she's got an 18 cm head. According to another site, it's 20 cm. Can anyone confirm one way or the other? Also, with that size would you recommend going 6-7 or 7-8?

Im not sure Keels, My Aio has not arrived yet, but i ordered a 7-8 wig for her, I dont think it will be too big, if it is I will just put more stuff in the wig cap.

what is Line-A body 2? Mine girl is double jointed if thats what you mean. She wears Luts msd clothes fine.

wow! I cant believe what "not bonding" with a doll feels like until I received my Aio. I resented really badly that MSC destroyed my 4hr spent on her face up and even decided to put her up on sale after alot of modifications to try save what MSC had destroyed, changing clothes, and I still did not like her. That having said. Today I woke up afresh, thinking I might as well wipe her face and give her a new faceup for selling... I ended up falling in love with her!

Before she came, I had this idea built up wanting her to be a modern day egyptian goddess. The idea was a little too forced upon, unlike my 2 other dolls that were already here that readily accepted their names, Aio fought against it. She now is reborned as Alicia and I am in love with her sculpt once again.

Alicia is precious! I love her expression, and the sweetness, and everything about her! The wig suits her wonderfully. I'm so glad she managed to charm her way back into your heart!

Mahryna meanwhile... well, she arrived on Saturday. And she has been terrorizing me ever since. D: First it was that I did not have her wig yet. And then I had the NERVE to not have her glasses and gloves ready. The clothing I had gotten was, of course, terrible.

When I suggested she try wearing a sailor fuku, that was the last straw.



I fear for myself and my loved ones. D: She's already gone after the camera a few times. Until I get her something that "does not make her look like one of THOSE elves", I am not allowed to take pictures. T_T
