    1. Planning is in full swing for DollAKon 2012, the doll specific program track for the anime and Japanese pop culture convention Project A-Kon.

      A badge for A-Kon 23 must be purchased to attend. No additional charge is required to attend DollAKon. Special events and workshops will require a registration fee.

      Our panel and event schedule is in the final revision. This year we will have 2 special events:
      Face-Up workshop with Kiki-chan78 and Tea Party with Zirconmermaid

      We're excited at all the events being planned and have included more meets based and additional contests on feedback from 2011. We have also added several workshops. Some workshops will require a supply fee in addition to the purchase of the A-Kon badge.

      UPDATE: 12/18/2011 - Workshop Topics
      We are still working on the final schedule, but I wanted to post a few of our workshop topics:

      Temp Tattoos and Piercings Workshop with NayNay_AnimeMom
      Felt Animal Plushies with VampElley

      All supplies will be provided during the workshops and will include a supply fee in addition to the purchase of an A-Kon membership. We will be pre-registering the workshops - look for the forms to go live on FaceBook in late January.

    3. I can't wait! Last year was fun. I will hopefully be bringing all my dolls this go around. I'd like to see a schedule of events. Will there be a sewing/clothing design contest again? Other contests?

    4. Emeraldwings - Our plan is to have the schedule live by the end of February. We will start releasing workshop registration information in January. Right now I'm trying to get everything to fit w/o having people in 2 places at once. I impressed myself last week by having Kiki in 3 places at once with only 2 panel rooms!

      We are planning 3 contests and one of them is a Costume Contest. The theme is giving us some issues as we're trying to tie it to A-Kon's theme of Yokai Busters. For the other 2 we're considering a photography contest and an original character contest. All 3 would take place on Saturday and we'd give out all the awards that evening following the Costume Contest.

      There is a small possibility we'll have 2 themed meets that include a little contest of some sort.

      Since I don't have a finalized schedule - would everyone be interested in seeing a list of topics for what is currently confirmed? There are a few panels I'm waiting to hear back from the leads, but 90% of the topics are set.

      liyanasilverleaf - I hope you get to come. AKon is a very large convention with a ton of stuff happening. My husband was at AKon 1, but I\'ve only been going the last 12 years. I\'d been talking with their program director since 2009 about an increase in doll panels and was shocked when I was offered DollAKon - it is so much more than I could have imagined...but AKon is known for listening to their fans and doing things big. It has been so much fun putting panels together and for the 2nd year we\'ve added so much based on feedback from this year.

    8. Looking forward to this already! I'm hoping I can make it this year- A-kon will be the biggest con I've ever been to. XD

      I'm interested in all the workshops mentioned thus far, I wonder if I'll have time to do so many!

      We're going to try and space the workshops over both days so they are not overlapping. We'll be having several meets and informational panels as well. As I get things firmed up with topics and panelists, I'll be posting the info. Our schedule is due to go live in February.

    29. Dolls of any type are welcome at DollAkon! Our only requirement for the tea party is that they be able to sit securely in an SD-sized chair. We'll have ties available if you need to strap your doll in for safety.

    34. Kelly and I can't decide if we're excited or just stressed...but either way: I'm so looking forward to next weekend.

      There is talk on the DFW FaceBook Group about a dinner meet. Any suggestions? For me Th or Fri would be best. Or we can do Sun since our suite is booked through Monday. A-Kon has a list of nearby food places, or we can find something different in Google:

    35. Oh my, at the risk of begging (and also at the risk of the Mushroom Peddler spotting me because she's already replied to this thread...), is anyone going? I'd like to preorder the wee Chaos kitty that Sarah's got planned as an exclusive for DollAkon, but I can't make it down there and it's pickup only. A dear person did me a solid and went last year to pick up a fullset blue Willow last year, but she can't go this time. I'm a fool for Sarah's sculpts;)

    37. I would really like to go in May as it would be my first convention and I have always wanted to visit Dallas.

      I hope I can go but I'll be in Colorado the weekend before and I have to drive back to Arizona and drop off some family members and then immediately head on to Texas. I don't want to fall asleep at the wheel!
