Doll North @ Anime North 2024

Feb 18, 2024

    1. Is anyone going to Anime North (Doll North) in Toronto?

    2. I am going to try my best to do so!
I had to miss it last year (due to some work-related shenanigan I couldn't get myself out of). This year, I aim to make it!

    3. I am also hoping to make it this year.

    4. i'll be going! i hope my newest dolls make it in time :sweat

    5. I'm planning to go to Anime North in general and stop by the doll-con section, but I don't know if I'll bring a doll.

I was thinking of bringing my vinyl dollfie since she's less susceptible to sunlight than my resin girl (still scared to take her outside tbh) but I can't think of a good carrying system.
One that wouldn't get tedious after the long day and would also allow her to be a little visible without me having to hand-carry her all day.
I'd like to get the new Volks clear carrybag but I don't know if it would ship in time -- plus it's kind of expensive, and I'm not a fan of the lack of top closure.

    6. I'll be there but I'm also part of the con staff (not part of Doll North though). I'm hopeful that I'll find some cool outfits for my boys like I did last year.

No idea yet who's coming with me. I kinda have a lot of choices (I'm at 81 full dolls right now). SD's have become the majority of my collection but they're tiring to lug around. I have some a good number of short SD's (50-ish cm) and some I'd like to bring would just be awkward because of wings/extra arms/giant tails/taur parts. I have a lot of rare/unusual/little seen dolls, too, and like to bring out those boys as well.

    7. I generally only bring one or two dolls with me to Anime North because it is a lot to lug around, so I understand the dilemma of trying to figure out who to bring. I have a hard time deciding and my collection of BJD's is somewhere in the mid- to high-twenties. I can't imagine having to choose from 80+.

    8. I'll often ask people if there's a doll they want to see since so many of mine are on the less seen side of things. It also helps me to decide on who to bring.

    9. I'm going to Doll North this year. My friend and I are selling items in the doll market again this year. I'm not sure who I will bring with me. I have a pair of Souldoll Centaurs I should get out again. Not sure if I want to carry around that much resin again. Have to go though my list and see who hasn't been yet .

    10. omg - it's almost upon us, isn't it! I have to go through my dolls and figure out who I'm bringing this year.

My usual travel doll is my MSD-sized Customhouse Yeondu, but I haven't made her any new clothes recently, and she's worn all her outfits to Anime North already. I did get a new bjd about a month ago: a Yummysweets Lotus in lavender resin. I might bring her.

    11. Yep, AN is coming up fast. And I still don't know who to bring. probably smaller dolls only because I'll need to carry them with me on Sunday after room check out and nobody wants to be lugging around 20 pounds of resin for several hours as you try to get last minute shopping done.

    12. I feel all of that. :D

    13. I think I've settled on 2 mature tinies, Zenzi (Lume Zero) and Itzal (Vita Magica Izel The Dragon-Demon). They're small enough (and light enough) to easily fit in my purse even with protective pillows (both are 30cm) and I've never taken them to any meets so yea for first public viewing. They're also very rare so perhaps people will enjoy seeing them in person.

I would've liked to have brought Finden (B&G Afra) and Braithwyn (Soom Chalco head on FL body) but they are 62cm & 65cm respectively and heavy af after surprisingly little time hefting them around.

    14. I'm so excited! I really debated who to bring, but since I'm flying in from BC, I thought it would be safest to bring Maura, my SOOM Human Sammi, who I bought at anime north a number of years ago!

    15. Oooh - I love SOOM Dolls! I just looked up Sammi, and she's adorable! She's a perfect little travel doll.
