Everything worked out PERFECTLY for me! I can make it out to the marketplace and the meet (my two favorite events!) without having to worry about them conflicting with the Nominoichi and two photoshoots I'm involved in. Awesome, awesome, awesome!! Sooooooo happy~ :whee:

22. The times work out well for me too XD
Im actually really interested in the Bjd Contest theme , i like how it fits in with the convention itself and its something familiar to a lot of people *__*

Haha Ill likely be around for quite a bit of this, and the market is at a time ill definately be able to pop in!

23. Ahhh!! So excited :) My twin sister Rea-Star (on coscom) and I will most likely be bringing our boy/girl twin dolls to Doll North this year :)
First time to Doll North ^^

24. You're going to love it! Last year was my first Doll North and it totally made my weekend! It was definitely one of the highlights of my con last year. Everyone is so nice and easy to get along with. Are you coming to the meet on Saunday? :kitty2

25. Woo looking forward to this again! It's definately a highlight of the con for me :3.

26. Man! Of all the years I can't make it!! ;A; This sounds like its gonna be bombshell, guys. Have fun!

27. I am so depressed...Uncanny Dreams is happening the same weekend here in the Seattle area, and while normally I might try to shoot across to Toronto, as I love AN, it's just not going to be possible this year....so sad! :(

.hlp

28. Aw man, why must I be moving out-of-province? This sounds so amazing and it'll be sad to miss it. :(

29. Out-of-towner who's coming into Toronto for the convention here. While this is my second Anime North, this is only my first Doll North. I didn't know it was there last year, and didn't have my doll with me anyway!

So please forgive me if I'm being silly, but just making sure. You do not have to have a separate ticket, correct? Just one for the convention itself in order to access the events for DN?

30. Chibi, if you have the pass for Anime North, you will have access to Doll north. :D Nothing extra is needed.

31. Laelen, awesome, thanks so much. ^^ I have some friends who are doll folks who'll be with me, and we were curious. Glad to have this info and looking forward to hitting this up!

32. Submitted my marketplace table request! :whee:

EDIT: I got in! I've already paid for my table through PayPal. Thanks so much, Sabrina!

33. So this is completely because I"m new to this whole thing, but where is the meet up taking place (or is there no set place yet?)? I won't be ready for the competitions and probably can't show up to the workshops (because of being staff other places), but I really want to try to make the meet up. *is such a noob *_**

34. Aw, that's all right! There are lots of events going on all weekend, but the official "meet-up" is on Sunday from 2:00pm-4:00pm in the Macintosh Room at the Sheraton Toronto Airport Hotel. Hope that clears things up! Looking forward to seeing you at the meet! :kitty2

35. Got it~! Thank you ^w^ I think there's another one on Saturday, but this one's a must go to over the weekend.

36. Hi Onna, I'm glad you're thinking about coming out to our event around your schedule. I know just how hard it can be to try to make that extra time to visit another event while working for AN.

The meet up on Sunday is the only meet up being held, I wanted to make sure that was cleared up in case some one comes looking for a meet up on Saturday, which is not part of our program. There is another opportunity for meet and greet with other doll hobbyists during the BJD 101 and Opening Ceremonies on Friday. Saturday is packed with a variety of events, regardless of the day you come I know there will be an event you'll enjoy :)

The Sunday meetup *may* be moving forward to 1:00PM, keep an eye on this thread for updates it will be confirmed by the end of this week. Looking forward to seeing you there :)

37. Oh man, I wish I had known about Anime North having a Doll North a lot sooner. I would have tried to save up for it a lot sooner. Maybe for 2012 I'll be able to go out there.

38. Wow! Looks like there is a lot planned this year!
Sadly I won't be able to make it this year, but I can't wait to see all the photos!
I hope I can make it for 2012 (and that this con will be happening!)

39. Actually, I think OnnaOtaku might be thinking of the one organized by Azulafan199 on Cosplay.com, which is taking place on Saturday at One beside the convention center (apple trees?). This is more of a cosplay-oriented dolly photoshoot though, rather then a meet I think.

But like you said SaturnRose, it's not part of the DollNorth official program :)

I'm thinking I like the meet inside the hotel though, since I'm a bit paranoid of having my dolls outside in sunlight.

Can't wait to finally get to Doll North~!

40. Yeah that's the one I'm thinking of ^^;

41. As far as I know, that Saturday meet is happening independently from official Doll North programming, but someone more official can correct me if I'm wrong.

42. Yes, the Saturday photoshoot is NOT part of DollNorth. It's just a fun photoshoot organized by Azulafan199.

I just wanted to mention it so that people don't think it was cancelled. But the official DollNorth meetup is on Sunday.

43. Sorry for the confusion every one, as Edtel said I was clarifying that Doll North events taking place in the Sheraton Hotel on Saturday will not include a meet up. I did not want to see anyone arrive at our event in the Sheraton on Saturday expecting a meet up, and be disappointed that it is not part of our scheduled events.

The BJD Photoshoot some have seen advertised is an unofficial informal photo shoot, like many of the cosplay theme photo shoots that take place (normally outdoors) at AN. Please contact Azulafan199 for details since she is the one organising the shoot, and it is not a part of the Doll North program for 2011.

44. The BJD photo shoot is a photoshoot and a meet up on the Sat and is not part of Doll North. It is part of Anime North's cosplay photo shoots and will be in the booklet that comes out under photo shoots. If any one wishes to come out on Sat just send me an email and I will add you to our list. We are giving away free BJD t-shirts to those who come out to the meet up.

I'm too looking forward to the Market place and the Sunday meet up .

45. I'm actually really excited for the Doll North Sunday Meet up, im debating who to bring to the meet up with me, Im going to have dolls through out the weekend, including at a few of the Doll North Events (and im super excited about the BJD Contest thinking about ideas and who to dress up). *o* I have to remember to bring my camera~

48. Thread Update:

I am very excited to announce the Prizes for Best in Show and Fan Favourite in the BJD Competition.

Best in Show
DHS Limited Edition 10cm Tiny BJD - Q-Baby Twinset donated by DreamHigh Studio
Fan Favourite
DHS 10cm Tiny BJD - Q-Baby donated by DreamHigh Studio

You can pre-register for the competition at any time, remember that any entry in any of our BJD Competition categories will qualify for Best In Show and Fan Favourite. Pre-Registration is not required, you may choose to sign up at Doll North anytime before the start of the Competition.

Please remember sign up is currently open for the BJD Face Up Workshop, we need at least 11 registrants in order to offer the shared pricing. If you are thinking about registering and won't have the funds available by May 8 please still contact me, I would be happy to work something out for you. :)

49. The faceup work shop sounds fun...though to be completely honest, as an artist myself, the price seems a bit high....everything else looks like loads of fun. I may have to bring a few of my new dolls to show off.

50. Hi Norths,

I'm glad to hear you are excited for this years Doll North. I would like to address your concerns about the cost of materials for the workshops, and also notify all attendees that any materials fee that are listed for work shops are the exact cost for supplies. The pricing for each work shop was determined based on the supply list provided to me by the individual running each workshop, no funds gathered will be rolled back into Doll North, the costs listed are strictly for the materials required at the workshop.

I worked with Armeleia to put together the materials for the face up workshop, none of these prices include shipping or customs, we are hoping for enough interest to qualify for free shipping. Armeleia is also generously picking up some of the required glosses for us, and helping us to save on shipping and customs charges.

For those interested this is how we have determined the shared pricing based on how many students the supplies could be shared between:
Detail Brush, and Set of 6 Assorted Brushes to keep (for one student, pricing based on bulk order for 12 students): $11
Kneaded Eraser to keep (for one student): $0.50
5 pots of acrylic paint (estimated pricing when shared between 10 students): $2.50
5 Pastels (estimated pricing when shared between 4 students): $6.25
Palette Paper (pack of 40 - some students may want more than one and we don't expect to have 40 students enrolled so this one is higher then a 'per piece' quote) $0.50
ZM Acrylic Thinner (estimated pricing shared between 10 students): $0.50
Volks Tamiya Gloss (estimated pricing shared between 10 students) $0.20
Volks Tamiya Thinner (estimated pricing shared between 10 students) $0.20
Mr. Super Clear (estimated pricing shared between 4 students) $3.50
TOTAL: $25.15

We've rounded up since all prices listed are the cost for shared materials, with no shipping costs added. Since some of the items break down to be used for sharing differently than others we also needed a little wiggle room to make up if we have an odd number sign up.

I hope this price break down sheds some light on the products being purchased, I trust Armeleia's advise on the brands and materials that we should order, and how many students can share each material. My personal big purchase for AN this year is going to be a full set of face up materials, it's something I've always wanted to learn to do and having some one as talented as Armeleia to guide me is an opportunity I don't want to miss out on :)

That being said we need more sign ups for the face up workshop, if any one has further concerns with the pricing break down, or are interested in attending, but need some more time to gather your funds please contact me privately by PM or email and I will do my best to accommodate you.

51. I'd like to announce that due to a generous donation of supplies we will no longer be charging for the T-Shirt Work Shop, you may still choose to bring your own 1/4 metre of fabric, or person sized T-shirt if you have a colour preference. Material colours available at the work shop will be limited.

52. That does break it down alot better, Thanks for the clear up! I was wondering if it would be possible to just buy a couple cans of MSC...I already have everything else :( I would love to be part of the class as well, if anything just to learn a few new tricks and techniques from another artist ^.^

53. WOW!!! I just wanted to say to say that Doll North sounds absolutely amazing! It's a shame that I cannot go, but I am one of the Mods that makes videos/helps to run BJD Addicts. I am soooo super excited that some of our videos will be used!!! I can't wait to hear about how the BJD Addicts panel (in particular) went!!!! Thank you so much for featuring us!! <3

54. Question: Can anyone specify 'peak time' for the shuttle? I'd like to come to the Doll Market, but will there be a shuttle headed there in that time frame or do I need to arrange another way to get there? (sorry if it's here some where and I've just overlooked it).

55. That actually sounds quite alright, we're planning to order more MSC then we need for the workshop in order to qualify for free shipping, I was going to sell it outright at Doll Market, but I'd be happy to set you up with a few cans if you wish. If you have all the supplies just bring what is listed to the workshop and you're welcome to join in. I'll send you a PM tomorrow to discuss the price of the MSC and add you to the list for the face up workshop :)

I'm really excited to be featuring BJD Addicts WrittenLullabye :D I think it's a really honest, and exposed type of documentary and I am hoping that it will help with comfort levels of our attendees making new friends at Doll North. BJD Addicts is also a great learning experience for any one new to the hobby, I think it does great work demystifying some of the assumptions that are made about doll hobbyists. I am currently building our playlist for BJD Addicts, I may send you a PM to get some advise on your personal favs. I'd like to have at least 1 or 2 videos for each prompt, and highlight many different contributors if I can :) I think you can expect a BIG influx of contributors after Doll North.

I will get in touch with a few of the AN executives for an answer on this one for you Etienne. I would definitely expect there to be shuttles running consistently from 9AM onwards Saturday morning, I may not recommend this option for our vendors. But, I will do my best to see if we can get a more detailed answer then what has been supplied on the Anime North website if I can. I'll update on this thread as soon as I know, thanks for your patience :)

56. Sweet ^.^ Cant wait to get your PM :) Thanks!

57. Updates made to Doll Vendors List:
Added Fairygirl, Retro Girl Blue and ·٠•●iules' Shop O' Goodies●•٠·*

More comprehensive details on the Anime North shuttle buses have been added:
Shuttle buses will be available during peak convention hours. The shuttle bus route is from the TCC to the Sheraton to the Doubletree then back to the TCC. Pick up for the buses will be at the front door of the hotels, and as near the Hall F entrance of the TCC as possible (there is normally a gathering of attendees waiting at this spot.) Buses will wait 4-5 minutes at each pick up spot before moving on. There will be two buses running the route on Saturday, and one on Friday and Sunday.
Shuttle bus hours of operation Friday 6PM to 11PM, Saturday 11AM to 11PM, and Sunday 11AM to 4PM

Registration for Face Up Workshop is now closed, you may still attend if you are able to bring the same supplies that we have included in our package. Limited spectator seats will be available off to the side for those who wish to watch, but not participate in the workshop.

58. SaturnRose - you mentioned possibly selling MSC. If you were to do so, I'd also be interested in buying some as well. Do you know about how much you'd be selling it for, and how many cans you'd have?

59. Hi Sahara,

We may end up having a few additional cans, an order was made today for MSC cans to cover the workshop as well as a few extras. I likely won't know until the con date if we will have additional, but I';ll do my best to update you as I go. Based on the shipping speed and interest we may also be able to order another set in before the con. I'll let you know how shipping from the seller we are trying out goes, I know getting MSC into Canada can be a bit of a pain, but I am hopeful that the seller Armeleia has recommend will work out for us. They have recent experience shipping MSC to Canada without issue so I'm hopeful this order comes in without any problems :)

60. I have a table at the Crafter's Corner this year, just drop by any time over the weekend and see my resin kids, I'm bringing and displaying mine and my sister's..and probably my friend will have her dolls in the display too :)

And maybe say hi to me too :sweat Hehe.

If things work out, I'll go to the doll meet up too~
