17. I re-sent the email, this time through my hotmail account ;)

:sweatSorry if this is a dumb question, but in this statement: "If you wish to become panellists for these panels or to register yourself for panels please pm or email me your name and em-mail adress."
Do you mean that if we don't register for these panels online, that we won't be able to attend, or will there still be walk-in attendees? *_*

18. No it's just for panelists anyone who has paid their Anime North con registration can come to the panels and events but if you want to do panels you have to be registered to Anime North first then register for free at Doll North but for panelwork only.

I also got to talk to someone about the vollunteers because the Panel guru of the con sent me a letter saying that vollunteers don't choose where they are sent to. I'm trying to clear that up with him .

19. whats the panel situation look like so far? I'd sign up for something but I'm already at 9 other panels and that's like russian roulette praying for a decent schedule already.

Any updates on the photopgraphy contest?

20. I'm still waiting for info from the AN head... will have to send another e-mail.
If you have already 9 panels don't go on another one! You have to enjoy the con too you know =) Maybe next year?

21. Acexkeikai: PM'ed you about Doll north and a panel ^_^ Already registered for AN so I'll r egister for the panels if you're okay with it ^_^

23. Yeah next year i will be all over the doll north stuff. It's just reg for normal panels was open earlier and i wanted to be sure to get on 5 for a refund. I'll keep an eye out on this thread for more updates since I'm really excited for a photo contest or any other sort of dolly contest

27. Oh yay! That's awesome to know this much in advance, thanks!!

...are there going to be any doll contests? OH, are there going to be doll sized hall awards? Hahahahaha! That would be so freakin' cute haha! ;)

28. Nnnnngh I am so clearing my AN schedule for marketplace goodness. <3

29. Unfortunatly because I couldn't get answers in time and the fact that we have to clear the room much earlier than expected on Saturday, we won't have a contest this year. :...( But I've learned from my mistake and we'll make a Photo contest next year but the contest will take place before the con.):aheartbea

Doll North is growing slowly but surely.

30. That's ok if there's no dolly contests, I'm just super happy to be making stuff for the marketplace!! (are we allowed to sell used stuff to, or just things we've made?)

Hrmm, since some of us are coming from pretty far and may have to pay extra if there's too much luggage, do you think it would be alright to start something like a Doll North Wanted/Selling discussion thread? Not a thread to neccessarily actually sell or buy things in, just kind of like a Doll North feeler thread/ bulletin board, some place to post what things you might be looking for or what things you were considering selling and see what other people are looking for. I just thought especially for things like dolls, furniture, bigger items that people may be looking for or selling but wouldn't want to add to their luggage if there wasn't any interest or things that people might have to save up for in advance. For example: "will anyone be selling size <blank> eyes in <blank style/materials> by <blank company> I've been looking for a long time" or "is anyone interested in a <blank type of furniture/prop> in <blank colour>".

I don't know, just an idea...

update: oh, I just thought of another example: the other day I saw that someone on LJ was asking if anyone at the convention would be doing face-ups. Then someone else replied that most face-up artists wouldn't be bringing there supplies to the con or might want to just enjoy the con. But maybe if an artist knew there'd be interest in advance, they could bring their stuff and set up a time at night or something.

31. I think whatever you want to sell if it's doll related. :)
It might be a good idea to make a thread like that... I am unsure where you would do it though?

32. Yeah I was also a bit confused where it would go since it's not really a marketplace thread, more of just a discussion or brain storm. Hrmm maybe just in the doll meet-up thread, ex: "Doll North '08- what are you thinking of trading/selling/looking for?" heehee

anyone else interested....?

33. I think it would be a good idea and to reply to the faceup question... We can't do real faceups at the con because MSC is toxic and therefore a health hazard.

I am asking Donn if he'll redo the Faceup presentation he did last year, he explains pretty much how he does it.

34. Donn's panel(s) last year was totally useful! I also don't think actually doing faceups is practical unless local artists wanted to take them home to do immediately. @___@ The materials and yes MSC are quite messy and need to be used in ventilated areas.

I'm excited we'll have the area for a couple hours for the market, so people will have time to try clothes/wigs/and eyes on their dolls. I didn't even think about bulky items, though. @____@ I imagine carriers and furniture would be quite a pain to lug either to or from the con.

35. Speaking of the marketplace:

Please do not e-mail me until I tell you to for reserving tables. I am still waiting for comfirmation on how many tables I can get. If I say we have 10 tables and we have only 8, it's not at all practical so please... don't e-mail me about reserving tables BEFORE I tell you to.

Thank you

36. I just found you. I need to read more - so far that weekend is free for me, sounds like a good time!!

Mary-Lee

37. So we only need to register for the convention Saturday and Sunday to be involved in the doll portion?

Mary-Lee

38. mary-lee, I think so. Saturday and Sunday are the major days for Doll North, though I'm not sure if it would be cheaper to get a three-day pass or not.

Ack, I need to check my schedule and make sure I'm not working Yaoi North when Donn does his panels! And I have to plan for my Doll North panels... ahhh, the joys of conventions. <3

39. Yes you can just register for 2 days but it"s more expensive than if you take 3 days

Saturday: 40$ and Sunday 35$ so you are better off with buying the whole 3 days 55$

Pre-reg finishes at that price on April 18th you can even go Thursday evening to get your pass if you pre-pay it:

http://www.animenorth.com/registration.php

40. Augh. Another year we won't be able to go, boo.... :( but, you know what? PM me with the details? Maybe we can send some prizes. ;)

41. Thank you! Mary-Lee

42. *peeks in* I'll be at AN this year, for my second time. >> << >>

Though, it's still up in the air as to whether or not I'll have my doll by then, or even be picking him (or them, depending on circumstances) from Divinity Doll that weekend.

Er.. just pointing out something on the pervious page with the tentative schedule... in the first section it says 12:30AM that people pack up their stuff... Do you mean 12:30PM since it'll be noon. 12AM is 2400hrs. Just wanted to clarify.

43. I'll have to be good and not try and get a doll from them hehe

44. Their dolls are pretty cute, and reasonably priced. I don't know if they've switched to the new resin yet, but I'm waiting on a Tan Er, but unfortunately Er and Ling on ther site are switched, so I unknowingly ordered the wrong one and found out a month later. Luckily the artist is still experimenting with the Tan resin to make it work right. So, supposedly they ordered both Ling and Er for me, and I've decided to purchase both of them if they're available.

So... I'll be broke, but I might poke around the market if I have a chance to get there. I never actually made it to the other hotel last year because I was attending other panels. I think I might bring a pair of rollerblades or a little scooter or something this year to make travel faster and less painful. ^^;

45. Is there a "DollNorth" livejournal group?

46. mmm no there isn't.. I know AN has one and also a Facebook.

47. Thanks for putting this up. It's very useful in deciding which day(s) to go (kind of wishing some things were Sunday  Cheaper price=more monies to spend on doll stuff).

Also, is it absolutely necessary to preregister? It's probably a good idea right?

48. Like a Isaid earleir pre-reg is cheaper and gives you more perks. =) like not having to do the long lines on Saturday and Sunday in order to get to the good stuff

49. Also, make sure you wear very comfy shoes and carry a little bit of snacks with you. Getting food can be difficult or expensive in teh area if you don't have a vehicle.

From the questions being asked, I assume this is the first time at a large con for some people, and I'm just giving my suggestions to make your overall experience better. :3

50. I looked one the AN site, you can only preregister for the full weekend yes? I can only go on Saturday (so please don't move the clothes/face-up panels ) When do you think I should get there so I can probably get into the Marketplace before it closes?

51. well I know the schedule isn't set in stone but for my part I wouldn't change a thing. But the scheduling guy for AN might change a few things around (I hope not) if there is a schedulling conflict.

52. Just wanted to pop in and say that I will likely be going all three days~ I will also be doing the Doll Photography panel with two others, softrockstar and tempura shrimp on DoA. Super excited! Just one more month~ ♥

53. Okay cool. :aheartbea How early do you think I should get there? I really don't want to miss the Marketplace.
Also, yay to bunnywink. I love your photography.

54. Tamya-Leigh; if the Marketplace is running from 10-12:30 and you want to shop I'd highly suggesting being there at 10. From the locals and other attendees I've been talking to, most of us will only have one of each item (whether it's extras or handmade items for AN). Even at doll meets popular items are gone right away if not put on hold ahead of time. Most people try to get their money's-worth out of conventions and will attend from opening to close.

55. Good News and bad news for the doll Market:

We will have tables but I won't have a definite number of tables before at least 2 weeks. (or maybe 3 it is AN after all) As soon as I know how many tables I can have I'll set up a reservation for them I probably will have to limit the table to one per person.

I'll post the info here as soon as I have a definite answer.

Also I have been thinking if people want to stay Sunday at 4 pm I would take suggestions for next year as well as people who wants to get more involved next year.

56. Gah, sorry I haven't been able to volunteer to help with anything.. I've been working 12 hour days 7 days a week for quite a while now so have absolutely no time at the moment! Sorry! I hope I can get my costume finished in time.. I will definitely be attending and am so excited for it! Everyone is going to do such a great job putting it all together!

57. Don't worry Juless, your Animaritime costume is a great back-up if you can't get your costume done! Everyone will understand how busy you are ;)

58. Mkay, thank you. I'll probably try to get there earlier just in case. Thanks so much for your help.

59. Is this its first year?

60. Wow I didn't know there was BJD events at Anime North, I'll have to check it out this year since I haven't been there for a few years now.
