DOLL LEAVES 1/3 girls Discussion thread

I really like the faces of them but I'm really not sure about the outfits. I'm glad they are coming out with larger girls . I'm waiting on my 44cm from them, she should be her monday!

I'm tempted to get one of the 1/3 girls but I'm having to watch my money.

 

I'm on the fence about their big girls. While I have loved all their sculpts these aren't doing much for me. I think it might help to see them without faceups but for now I'll wait for future sculpts.

Doll Leaves are beautiful, and I'm really curious about the 1/3 girls. I like girl dolls best, and the Doll Leaves girls have beautiful faces.

I think their dolls are elegant. Their express way for the dolls are all elegant, especially the girls.

I am absolutely in love with Daphne. Will she be this year's Christmas/Anniversary/Birthday gift? I think she may be.

 

Bailey is so awesome! I usually don't like dolls with teeth but for some reason...with their awesome face up...She is just amazing!

Well, I am in love with Bailey too. She looks like my idea of Alice in Wonderland. I also like Noir..so think I will be purchasing soon. Trying to decide if I choose DL face-up. I love their Bailey face-up but always afraid that the face-up on my doll might not be quite as shown in photos. I purchased Vivian and had the face-up done by Jay Searle. So I am not sure what to do...
Think I have posted Vivian before but here she is again: I adore her! oops not 1/3 size..but an idea of face-ups.

 

Hi everyone. I recently stumbled by accident on a link to doll leaves and saw their new girl Baily. I am quite taken by her, especially with that default face up. It's just beautiful. I never purchased any doll leaves dolls before so this is a new area to me. All of my SD girls are SOOM with big hips and big boobs and therefore most clothes wouldn't fit (their 65 cm, btw). So I have a few questions for those who are willing to answer...
Are they single or double jointed?
What do you think of the poseability? What issues have aroused, etc
Do they fit into SD13 clothes or are they hard to clothe?
What is your favorite skin tone by them and why.
What wig size do they seem to fit the best?
Lastly, I really love the default face up of Baily but normally do face ups myself. How is the quality of doll leaves face ups? Do you find them to match the promo pictures?

I'm sorry for al the questions but I really like to research my dolls before I buy.

 

lol looks like I'm not the only one who has fallen for Bailey's squee worthy face will probably be ordering her in the next few days. Oh I do have a question about the white skin is it like paper white or more a cream white?

 

I second this. I love WS but when it's a CW. I decided to take the plunge and order her too even without all questions answered. I emailed the company to request skin tone comparison shot as I have to decide quickly what skin tone to choose!

 

Ok so I heard back from doll leaves. I uploaded the picture they sent me of WS versus NS and I was told by Somone here on DOA that it is a more creamy white than a paper white. Also, Bailey & Noir promo pics are in NS. Here's their pic they sent:

 

well I took the plunge and started a layaway for bailey in ws and the noir had in ns I'm going to name Bailey Misery and Noir Nyx now to sit back and wait for my income tax check so I can pay off the layaway early and get all of her stuff together before she gets here

 

I just received Bailey & the Noir head today. I hope others read that the heads are 23cm - very very large. Bailey’s body is slight of figure (like Vivian - which I love) but when you place the large head on this slight of figure (and I was shipped large breast - I think - instead of small breast ordered) it is badly out of proportion. I know that some collectors rather like that look but unfortunately I am not one such collector. Just thought I would post photo so you can decide for yourself. We all see dolls differently so it may just be me!

 

To be fair to Doll Leaves, this doll does look much better dressed. I emailed them about the incorrect bust size and they will send me the correct size bust. Their answer was prompt and helpful - also apologetic (much better than some of the more popular/established BJD companies I have had to deal with). Here are some photos of her dressed:

 

I am inlove with Bailey! But my only worry is that the body seems like unproportion.

Do you guys know what body(hybrid) will fit on Bailey? I'm planning to order a head.

 

I think the head would look better on a 62cm body. I will try to put it on that size body and take a photo for you. The head is large so will need wider shoulders to make it look in right proportions. Will try to get to that today but have dentist appointment so...maybe.

 

I think I like Bailey, but I wish there were more owner pictures of her.

I didn't understand... is the doll pictured above a Bailey or a Noir? It doesn't look the same as the Bailey in the company pictures to me.

Thanks for showing your pics of Bailey. What do you think of the body and how poseable is it? I've ordered a Noir head on a female body. I hope that it works ok. I showed everyone Noir and they all thought he made a better girl than a boy, so we shall see when 'she' arrives.

 

I lean toward toward Noir as well. I believe he is prettier as a girl.

I just made my second layaway payment, so hopefully not much longer to wait. I just hope that the face up is as good as the ones on the Doll Leaves website. I have nothing ready for this one, as I want to have a fairy like doll, and need to see it in the flesh before I start to think of costumes etc

I'm really interested in seeing Bailey on a different body, resin color comparisons would help too. I'm thinking about getting her but the head-body proportion looks a little weird to me.

 

I'm a little dissapointed with the face up so far. I've seen two different owner pictures and they are not quite the same. I didn't see any glitter in either as well. I know each face up varies, I do face ups myself. I fell in love with their promo face up but I hope I'm not dissapointed when my girl comes in. I would have done it myself, otherwise.

I'm a little nervous of how big her head is in proportion but I beleive once she is dressed and has a wig it won't look so big. I will have to hide the collar bone cause it looks so odd next to her face exposed but I really loved her sculpt so I got her awhile back on layaway. Hopefully noir will look good as a girl cause I plan making him a female sculpt.

I'm still really excited about her coming in. I really hope I'm not dissapointed. This was my first time deviating from my normal doll companies and buying a doll with little to no previous owner pics!

 

Does anyone own Vanessa? :> Even as a dealer I haven't actually seen one of her in person yet! I'd love some photos of her. She seems very cute.

 

say hello to my new girl Kurau she is a doll leaves Bailey, i have just finished her face up to day, it is ashame you can't see her teeth in these shots x she is my fifth face up so she is not amazing but i am quite happy with her. i might paint afew more feathers on her left cheek but i have not made my mind up yet?

oh RavenLunaloo Kurau originally came with offical face up but for some reason i was not in love with it like the one in the offical photos ^~^ i am not sure why? yet my other two dolls and noir's head was way better the the offical photos.. i soo need to take some photos of noir head i think i might buy a doll love's body for him because the resin in a good match.

Goldendiamonds I already said in your BO thread I love what you've done, she is stunning. I'd love to see your Noir. What body is your Bailey on as her head doesn't look as disproportionate as it looks on other owner pics?

 

I just replied to your post on the photo thread too. I have a feeling I may end up taking it off too. Too bad as it was slightly expensive. I asked this on the other thread but in case you don't check there....is she WS? She looks it. If so, what do you think of the WS? I ordered her in WS and I hope I won't hate it.

Do you find her head too big for the body as other people mentioned? She doesn't look bad in your photos. I ordered during the event so I am getting a noir head. I'm going to put a girl face up on it and see what I think of it lol. The sculpt was pretty and had a lot of potential. I can't wait to blush those ears!

Oh, you said you took the official face up off? Do you have the box opening pics or a pic of her before with the official face up?

This is also my first 60 cm girl. I only have Supergem girls they wear like sd17 clothes. Do you know of bailey wears sd13 clothing? Does she fit sd10?? I've been browsing the MP but not sure what size she wears
And I just want to thank you for posting the pictures. Since seeing and hearing about the head too big and also worrying about WS I thought I made a big mistake and have been so worried but your girl looks wonderful. I can't wait to see bailey in person

Thank you so much Ishtar, my Kurau is on a standard doll leaves body and yes her head is massive but it looks better when she is dress up. i will post more photos of her in a couple of days standing and next to my other 1/3 dolllove girl and a few of my Noir

Yes she is in white skin colour because i really hate yellow/natural skin colour, i just love the resin of doll leaves doll it is so pretty ^-^

My Kurau is on a standard doll leaves body and yes her head is massive but it looks better when she is dress up. i can post photos next to another doll i own if you like to see the difference between them. i do think the arms are very skinny aswell . sorry i do not have any photos of official face up because i had to take it off right away... i really didn't like it at all

oh she fits most standard 60cm girl outfits SD13 i mostly buy mine from doll-love because they are super cheap and are beautifully made. i also i buy them from Etsy ... not sure on SD17 or SD10 never tried them on a 1/3 dolls?

Here are a few photos of my other dolls from Doll leaves below in white skin.. i have to say they are slim bjd but they are sooo cute.. they remind me much of Ringdoll bodies. But the SD doll leave heads are alot big on the bodies then their 1/4 MSD models. i hope that makes sense, if you have any more questions please feel free to ask away.

 

You have been a great help, goldendiamonds, thanks so much! I really love WS dolls too. Most of mine are WS but I was afraid Doll Leaves would be too paper white but the look is quite breathe taking. Athena is gorgeous. I love her little ears! I won't mind the big head so much when she is dressed and with a wig. Most companies do have bigger heads anyway. I can't wait to see more photos of your kurau as she is quite lovely and I can't wait to see what you will do with your Noir head.
Oh, and I don't think you answered but if you don't mind what wig is your Karau wearing? I love multi color wigs. She looks amazing in it. It looked wonderfully made

i recommend using a wig caps because i find 8-9" wigs fit better with one and it stops staining ^-^

The faceup is done by my friend Baiqi, Thanks very much for making such a wonderful faceup .
About her proportion, in my own opinion, the head is not that large. I think it is perfect and it is into my taste.

They make some original dolls. Bailey is lovely, i love her mouth, if only her eyes were a bit smaller.
Before seing their site, i thank that i would never buy a 1/4, but now i think i will buy two of them (Royal and Maya).

 

For my personal tastes Bailey's head is too large ( or maybe just too wide? ) I prefer a more realistic proportion, but She's still a really cute sculpt

I hope you guys don't mind if I join in! I just put the lovely new Aurora girl on layaway because I was just blown away by her beautiful face! I am hoping I will like the body also. Everyone's photos look so lovely. This will be my first SD! I only have MSDs at the moment.
