Alright, so as a knitter it is somewhat of a challenge to convert human patterns down to dolls. (same for crochet, but I'm not good at that) So here is one. What this is is a shawl knit in lace weight yarn with 2.5 size needles. The idea is to have all the cables facing inwards towards the center 'spine' and decreasing on the wrong side. This is about 127 stitches, the seven center stitches and 20 cables on either side. Going from right side, you would be cabling two stitches to the front. (Get extra needle, cable two stitches forward, purl one, knit two stitches on other needle, repeat) Then cabling back. (Purl one back, knit two stitches, then purl stitch.) after you start decreasing for the shawl it would get a bit weird. But basically you would be cabling just one stitch, or more so that it will always be slanting in. For the purl one back you would be making sure you always do the purl stitches back say for the first one, so you would be purl the first back, knitting one, then purl the stitch, and for the knit one it would be similar. Only cabling one to the front purling then knitting the cabled stitch. As I got to the end I started to decrease the center panel by one, by about one every three rounds. (so its a knit decrease not a purl decrease) After I finally got to three I just binded them off. I'm gonna try to write the pattern out, be aware this is like the first time I've ever written a pattern down. Cast on 127 stitches. Knit one purl one three rows. (This would end on a right side I hope, this is to give a good foundation for the cables.) Row 4. Cable two forward, purl One. knit two cabled stitches. Repeat 20 times. Purl One, knit five, purl one. Cable one BACK, knit two. Purl cabled stitch. Repeat till the end. Row 5. Slip stitch, knit one, pass slipped stitch over. Purl Purl stitches, and knit knit stitches till the last two stitches, purl 2 together. Row 6. Repeat cables till close to the center, you should have just two stitches left, cable ONE forward, purl, then knit cabled stitch. Do center stitches. Cable one stitch back, knit ONE, and purl cabled stitch. then Repeat cables. Row 7. Repeat row 5 Row 8. You are going to have ONE stitch left over after cables, so at center panel you take the purl stitch and work it into the cables and purl one of the cabled stitches to keep the center purls, or you can cable three front for the last and purl one stitch and then knit the stitches. It really just depends on what you want to do. Just try to keep the cables all tilting to the center. (I screwed this up royally myself so its okay if you mess up too!) For the cable back portion you can do the same, knitting three, and then purling or working in the purled stitch from the center. Then repeat these till the end decreasing the center pannel once you have three cables on each side. Once you only have two stitches with the decreased center, just knit the stitches and keep decreasing till three stitches remain. Bind off, and weave in ends. Now you have a shawl! (I'm sorry I'm not good at describing what to do.) This is for a 1/4 scale doll or 1/3? she's pretty big, and this works well for a nice shawl for her. I'll try to get some pictures up of it finished. Meanwhile here is another pattern using embroidery thread! Scarf: Done in moss stitch! knit on size 2 needles Cast on 10 stitches, knit one, (purl 1 knit 1 to last stitch) Next row, Purl 1( Knit 1 purl 1 to last stitch) Continue on till you have the length you want. Adding more thread to end of the row if you can if you need it. Bind off, weave in ends. This makes a scarf that will drape nicely for pictures! I'm going to be trying to make a sweater pattern, I've done a sweater already I need to redo it and get the pattern down since I screwed up putting it together. But I basically made the sweater in five parts. (two for the back, one for the front, and the sleeves.) This way it can have snaps/buttons be put on the back for easy put on, take off. (ive been trying to upload to imgur but my pictures are failing to upload DX)
Alright so I think I got the front worked out! This is all worked on the same needles and yarn as the shawl! Cast on 30 stitches Work in rib for a few rows to your liking. Now switch to stockinette stitches for length you need. (Measure from under arm to waist and knit to there) Once you get to the shoulder you are gonna need to shape the arm holes. I cast off four knit wise, knit to the end. The cast off four purlwise. Now you need to decrease every knit row for the arms. You are going to decrease at the beginning and end of knit rows. I decreased six stitches which is I decreased twice, purled a row, then decreased twice again, and once more. I knit a few more rows, now we get into neck shaping. You are going to need a little extra yarn for this. I had six stitches for each shoulder, the rest of the middle stitches need to be put on a extra needle. Knit some rows for the shoulder, decreasing at the end of the knit row till you have four stitches. You want to end in a knit row with this so you can pick up stitches from the neck. Do the other shoulder, ending in a purl row. Its your choice which side you want to take it from, but bind off the four shoulder stitches, keeping the last and then, take up the few stitches till you get to the middle stitches you haven't touched. Continue taking up stitches for the other shoulder and bind off those four stitches. Now knit a few rows of a ribbing, or bind off all these stitches. This is based on what KIND of sweater you want, a long neck, slouchy, or so on. You can take up stitches along the neck and immediately bind them off. This would make more a slouchy neck line. For a v-neck it is a bit more complicated. But you don't put the neck stitches on an extra needle and just decrease every knit row on the neckline till you have your shoulder stitches. This means halving the stitches you have left over, and knitting one side then the other. This should give you a v-neck, but you might want to pick up and bind off an extra stitch in the middle once you work the other side to make it look even. So here is the first part of the sweater, but basically what we are gonna do is this stuff only in halves for the back.
