Doll Family H Mini Dolls Discussion

Aug 18, 2022

    1. I don't have a Rika, but I ordered a Nan Xing with the new muscle body to turn him into Adrien Agreste from Miraculous Ladybug. I absolutely love him, but I made the mistake of assuming he wouldn't have the same tiny feet problem that Minifees and my 1/4 Myou Doll have. My dolls will forever be shoeless. :...( As for clothes, I'm pulling together a TaoBao order, which I'm debating if I'll order it through Bhindr or New Clover Singing.

I feel like I never hear about Doll Family H. Are they not popular, or are DFH owners just quiet?

    2. I have a Yue Jian, although I have made him trade heads with a Dream Valley girl. Yue Jian is a beautiful sculpt, but in the end the face looked too small/delicate on the muscle body.
I am delighted with him though. The facee makes a very pretty girl, and the body is both very handsome and very nice to pose. I had never noticed that the feet were difficult to find shoes for? Everything I've tried so far worked for me (but I mostly used boots, so maybe they're more forgiving)

And I think df-h are somewhat popular on instagram? I've seen a few over there. And the bodies are often discussed for hybriding, I think?

    3. I'm looking into get my second doll, and so far I'm leaning toward family-h. I own Fei of AOD. I'm looking for a doll with a tan body. I just wanted to hear why you like them. I want a girl. I want to model her after an OC of mine. my frist doll is also model after an OC of a comic I hope I can publish one day. they're best friends so it's important I have both. I know this must seem really nerdy.

    4. I don't know that I can speak to female DFHs, as I only have the one male, but he's sturdy, and his face and hands are uniquely expressive. I got a second pair of hands in pink to go with his Myou Doll female counterpart so she could have expressive hands, too. Their newer, more mature female 1/4 body looks like it has a thicker trunk than a lot of other companies (like Myou Doll, Dream Valley, or Minifee), and I like that about it. Their bodies are not cookie cutter thin.

    5. One the first things I noticed was the hands, right after their amazing faces. I think if I ever got a male doll it would come from Family H. one of the models has a chin like the guy I like. the faces up look so good. I think if I buy I'm going to get a blank head because I want an exact face up for the doll.

    6. Saw a few days ago on Clover Singing's twitter that Doll Family H seems to be discontinuing their 1/4 anime style dolls! (The other dealers like Alice's Collections don't seem to have announced this yet.)

I just ordered a Riq on a boy body as I had been planning on getting one eventually... and now I really need to grab him!

    7. Oh no, that sucks. I guess they're also discontinuing the bodies? I've been thinking it would be fun one to hybrid something with, I just don't know what exactly yet. Anyway, thanks for the heads up! + the sale ends already 13. day so anybody thinking of grabbing one better act quick! :o

    8. I just order Chino with a girl version II body. she's on lay away at acbjd.com. I'm excited she's going to be my second BJD. I got her in tan.

    9. I love the pumpkin heads, I wanna make a pair of twins out of them. :love
I like that they work with both yosd and msd, though I think I’ll be putting them on the slim bodies.

    10. I just got a df-h male 1/4 doll. Does anyone have one of their 1/4 males? What clothing do they fit?

      • x 2
    11. I don’t have any df-h dolls yet but a good place to start is Alice’s Collection, they put the measurement brackets of what their clothes will fit in their description; not a lot of other places will do that, I find.
A good rule of thumb, also, is comparing your doll’s measurements with the measurements of other dolls and seeing if there’s a doll(s) with similar measurements. You may find that there’s a more commonly owned doll than yours with similar measurements (like a yosd fitting Barbie clothes).
Hope this helps, at least until someone else can chime in with more specific knowledge!:sweat

    12. Ah the chubby 44cm bodies are really cute, I’m surprised the discontinuation info (and the discount) hasn’t been announced yet on other dealer websites, if it’s being discontinued so soon.

    13. And just thought of seeing if Doll Family H has a Weibo account and found the official announcement there.

They are discontinuing their 1/6 dolls, big 1/6 dolls (big baby?) and (1/4?) chubby bodies after 13 November 2022 and the discount starts on 7 November.

    14. Oh I believe you, I was just commenting on my surprise that other dealers (like Alice’s collection) haven’t announced this yet. But todays the 7th, so hopefully they’ll be offering the discounts soon. I wanna grab one before they’re gone but technically I’ve already spent what I can afford at the moment, I have multiple orders already on layaway.
That discount will allow me to at least get a chubby body and maybe some hands on layaway, so I don’t miss out. Looks like the discount will put the chubby 44cm body at $220, versus the $300 standard price. Not bad!

    15. Ah, it's not that I thought you were doubting me. XD

I also thought it was odd that no other dealer has announced it yet and that there was nothing on Doll Family H's website, Twitter or even Taobao when I last checked earlier today.

I was curious to see where Clover-Singing got this news from and wanted to find the official announcement.

    16. Oh good! I’ve had that misunderstanding before so now I like to cover my bases. :sweat
At least we know it’s official now. I’m going to have to amend my plans from pumpkin head twins to pumpkin head triplets. I’m personally not a fan of the anime look for my own dolls but I do love the chubby msd body! And it’s 44cm, just like the slim 1/4 bodies I was already planning with.

    17. Alice's has finally updated their site with news of the discontinuation! (They say it started on 7 Nov, but I'm pretty sure they only updated the site with this news today as I've been checking their site every day.)

Doll Family-H Small Dolls Discontinuation Event (2022.11.07- 2022.11.13):
      * 44cm Chubby, 38cm Chubby, 26cm Dolls: 25% off.
      * These 3 lines dolls/bodies/hands will be discontinued after event.

    18. Yeah, I’m definitely grabbing the chubby 44cm and a few pairs of hands. It’s so cute and chubby and I want to grab it before it’s gone.

    19. The discontinuation makes me want to get a Pai Si.... but not sure what concept I want to go with for clothes/wigs.

    20. I too am getting a boy Riq before he goes. I was so tempted to stay small by the discontinuation but TBH it's so hard to find chubby male MSD bodies that I decided better to go big.

    21. Pai Si is pretty cute. If I had to get one anime style doll it would probably be Pai Si 2, the smile is a little more pronounced (and mischievous, which is adorable to me).

    22. Riq’s cute! Not to discourage you from him but if you’re looking for a smaller body, they’re also discontinuing their chubby 1/6 line, and they offer both male and female bodies for that size as well. As this is a mini discussion thread I don’t know if I can post a link here, but there are smaller options available from them if that’s your preference.

    23. I do like the styling for Pai Si 2 more than the first version.

Maybe I will just use the mischievous magician's assistant vibe as my jumping off point.

Now to decide how many option hands I want....

    24. The discontinuation also made me want to get a Li Qiu. Those who have experience buying extra hands, do you think it's possible to request different hands (for example: left hand type 1, right hand type 2)?

    25. Which male body did you get? I have the muscle body, and was pleasently surprised to find standard MSD boy clothes seem to work. Shoes are another story, though.

    26. Rounded body. I think that's type 2?

    27. @Neela Originally I was going to get myself the small Rulala but when the discontinuation was announced I realized it'd be much harder to find a boy body in 1/4 scale that is chubby. I like the aesthetics of the MSD body too, it's more cartoony and exaggerated.

    28. That’s true, and I agree! I grabbed one for the same reason.

    29. Ok, question, are Yue Jian and Nan Xing the same sculpt?? If so, I'm assuming the separate names are just to differentiate the fullest. Are there any other companies that have marketed the same sculpt as two completely different characters?

    30. They aren’t, I don’t think. Maybe there’s just small differences to the sculpts, imperceptible in the company photos? Or if I’m wrong, it doesn’t have anything to do with the full sets, or they’d probably just do an A or B option. I’ve seen companies do that before, more commonly with just faceups but also with entire full sets. Or they’ll release another version, like they’ve released the Halloween version of Yue Jian.
