Doll Family H Discussion

Apr 7, 2010

    1. They used to be artists working as a single company, but they split up very early on. Thus they are both Doll Family, but they have diverged and even the resin is not alike.

    2. They began as the same company but at some point split into two companies, each keeping the Doll Family name.

    3. Oh thank you! That explains their similarities!

    4. I finally have the funds to be able to pick up Qing Lang but Alice said they stopped doing face-ups. A is still doing them, so I'm hoping H will again eventually... Did they ever make a statement about it?

    5. You might try Legend. They have their own artists. It might not be an official faceup but it's not expensive.

    6. How beautiful!!!

      Newbie here. What is Legend?

    7. I was asking DollFamily-H / DF-H about color matching for a friend, and they sent me their color chart of matches they have on hand.
Thought it might be useful to share!

    8. THANK YOU for this :D

    9. Awesome, thank you!

    10. That's so helpful, thank you.
I am sad to see there isn't a Volks normal :( or DD normal, Luts normal..
I think they quite reduced their matching service?

      • x 1
    11. This is just what they have on hand! I think you can still send in parts to get a custom match done!

    12. I plan to finally buy the DFH 68cm boy body vers2.
Any opinions on choosing the 2 part or 3 part torso?
As for the jointed hands; I assume the 70cm ones will work better than the 1/3 ones? I don't like it when the hands look too big.
Maybe someone uses the jointed hands and could show me them with the body?

      • x 1
    13. I think it depends on if you like a waist joint or not primarily

    14. I have the 70cm hands on the 68cm body and they look perfect/are the ones recommended for that body! :)

    15. I saw on IG you were planning to swap to a different body, can I ask why? I'm considering the DFH78 and was curious if it was the size, lack of clothing, or something about the body itself (quality, pose ability, etc).

    16. Mostly because of the size. The character has to be the middle size of the group, but he is the tallest. I also had some issues with bottom part of the clothing - all the pants are quite short. However I like the body itself and plan to leave it for Mori9s head (Octans).

    17. Thank you! That's what I was hoping to hear.

    18. I’m working on a hybrid project and have recently fallen in love with this 1/4 male body from DF-H; my question is - do any of you know if Iplehouse has a resin color that matches any of the DF-H colors? I’m not too picky about which one, I just want it to be close

    19. The update I'm sure you've all been waiting for about my 68cm man and his un-interchangeable interchangeable jj -

The part is engineered to be held in with a magnet but pulled straight out on a tab. It is very secure and cannot be removed at any other angle. The correct angle and torque cannot be achieved with the, um, relaxed part that comes installed by default while the legs are socketed. To remove it, I had to pull the legs out of the sockets - this gave me enough room to get my fingers in there and pull it out.

      Anyway. We're good now lol.

    20. My Qing Lang arrived.
      Qing Lang

I'm honestly a bit surprised with how smitten I am with him haha.
I planned to share his body with another head that I have, but the resin match was less than I hoped for so that's off the chart.
Gonna try to make a wig for him this week. I'm so curious who he will become <3

    21. Qing Lang is such a cutie! I absolutely love his sleepy-eyed expression.
I have a head in Luts White I'm trying to hybrid with a DFH body, and I'm wondering if anyone knows the closest match? I know the company sometimes does color matching, but I don't know where else I can purchase them beyond Alice's Collections.

      • x 1
    22. Alice's collections can order custom colors for you if you email and ask! DF-H has luts white on hand, so you don't even need to send in a headcap!

    23. I’m not sure if this has been asked already, I tried looking for it but I couldn’t find anything.

I want to hybrid my Tan Feeple60 head onto their Ver.II 58cm body, but I don’t know if they will still color match with FL Tan.

Does anyone know if they will match with FL colors or if this hybrid would even work?

    24. @BirdieBurrito I have a tan DFH body coming in this week and I have a Fairyland tan from 2019, I can take a quick photo once it's here if that works for you? The bodies are both 1/4 so I can't test fit for the sizes though.

      • x 2
    25. @karlyl Yes!! That would be awesome, thank you!!

    26. @BirdieBurrito I completely forgot to get these to you, here they are now!

Fairlyand tan 2019 is more brown, less orange than DFH tan 2024.

    27. Is this a compatable hybrid? The FL neck circumfrence is 8.4cm, and the DFH circumfrence is 9.3cm
Anyone got a fairyline/feeple 60 head they could test this hyrbid with?

    28. I think a 9.3cm body would be ok, the male Feeple60 neck circumference is 9cm so I don’t think .3cm bigger would be too bad.

I don’t have a DFH body to try my heads on, but I have pictures of F60 Sircca and Lunnula on a Coral Reef SD body. They’re not my pictures, but I’ll be getting this body for my F60 Sircca.

    29. does anyone have a head thats 23.5cm or close on a 62cm boy body? does it look bobble headed? if anyone has any photos id also super duper appreciate it :abow:

    30. I have a doll head that's about 22cm circumference, but it has a 13.5cm max neck. So, it's more meant for larger dolls.
Usually 70cm male dolls have a 10.5cm neck. I DO have a 70cm doll that will fit up to 12.2 cm neck and a Dollzone 75. I never tried the head on either. And, I could try it on those, if you're considering a 75cm doll.
And, the further away you are from the intended body, you have to also start considering the shoulder size.

It might be hard for anyone to give advice about this because you did not mention the intended head size for the body and did not mention the neck size of either. I haven't done a hybrid, yet. So, forgive me for not having the proper experience to answer thoroughly.

      • x 1
    31. Ah no that was my mistake! >< The head's original body fits on a 10cm or 11cm neck. Shoulder size is 14cm which is why I was wondering if anyone had a head similar in size to mine on a 13cm shoulder, to see if that 1cm difference would be something that would bug me or not.

    32. I think i read somewhere that the V2 68 cm body is actually closer to 66cm. Can anyone confirm if this is true?

    33. @quilleth Maybe it depends on the head you have on the body but I would say mines is 68cm.

    34. I figured it might be something like that. Thanks!

    35. Does anyone have any comparisons of DF-H’s dark chocolate resin tone with other tans?

      • x 1
    36. [IMG] Left is dika doll tan, middle is doll family H Chocolate, and right is impldoll tan.

    37. thank you so much!

    38. I got my DF-H 68cm slim female body today. I had requested a color match for Soom Normal through NCS (not sure if it matches as I don't have anything to compare to). It is quite a bit lighter than the Imploll real skin head I wanted to hybrid it with. The head (Impldoll Sicily) also doesn't fit on the body, as the body's elastic around the s-hook is too thick to go up into the head opening.

I was considering sculpting this character's head anyway, so I might just do that because of the above factors. At first glance it seems like a good match for ResiOne's "cream white" color, although I didn't do a side-by-side comparison.

I really like the body's engineering. The sculpting kinda looks a little different than in the pictures, maybe just because the breasts and girl bits are sculpted sort of weirdly imo and those parts are censored in the promo photos. But the posing is amazing and the joint engineering is very good. I normally don't prefer the look of the "hidden" ball joints, but this body is an exception and they look good even with the joint flexed, whereas I feel like they usually don't. They also included a massive duffel bag for storage, which I appreciate.

She'll be packed away until after I move in a week, so I'll revisit the project later.

(not a great photo but here was a quick color comparison photo in case anyone is interested. This is Impldoll real from last year before they updated their color chart)

    39. @Seaweed That's quite strange, it indeed looks a bit pale. I have ordered from them directly before they stopped offering custom colours as default options before and have a body from them in Soom tan, which matched an artist head I got in Soom tan almost perfectly. Soom NS is also a pretty common resin colour that bjd artists match to, and it's supposed to be pretty close to Loongsoul NS and Switch NS. It could be that DF-H did get it off this time or Impldoll made theirs too saturated, but perhaps it couldn't hurt to double check with NCS about this.

    40. I currently have my MDR Fang paired with Doll Family H's 58cm girl body (very good match due to how MDR's 'strawberry' resin mellowed, it's a good pairing with DF-H's normal yellow). Incidentally, I found her default flat feet rather small, she wasn't quite fitting most 1/3rd girl shoes - turns out she fits in shoes made for DD and Smart Dolls.

If you've got one of these girls, there is a lovely crafter in the USA making shoes that fit her here.

    41. Ooh thanks for the tip, that’s good to know, I have that body (well my doll does and at my age believe me I wish mine looked that good) and so far only really tried boots on it so I didn’t realise conventional shoes may be a problem.

    43. How well does DF-H resin match up with Iplehouse Normal?

      • x 1
    44. Iplehouse is more peach in my experience.

    45. does anyone happen to know how well DF-H/DF-A tan resin matches with soom tawny? i have an artist head which is supposed to be in soom tawny and i wanna know if a DF-H body might work. thank you :)

      • x 1
    46. “Soom tawny” is really not reliably match-able. It’s a lighting tan shade, but even actual Soom tawny, cast by Soom is highly variable. Without knowing the artist that made your head specifically and what they are classifying as Soom Tawny, there isn’t really a way to answer that accurately. I have multiple batches of “tawny” resin from Soom, and the match between them is pretty terrible, one is cooler toned and browner, and the other is warmer toned and oranger.

      • x 2
    47. It seems like more and more companies are using Soom Tawny like it’s a stable and standard resin color, but I agree that my two Idealian tawnies are completely different colors. I usually adjust skin color while doing a faceup so not that big a deal for me but for those without that ability, I feel your pain!

    48. Hi all, I’m not sure if there’s a list anywhere. I’m trying to find a list of all the 1/3 size dolls that DF-H discontinued. If anyone can point me in the right direction, I’ll be eternally grateful!

    49. You can try looking at dealer sites like Acbjd, Legenddoll etc. in the Wayback machine. There you can see what selection has been offered in the past :)
