What a great idea..he's so creative! I need to try this with my old brushes. Thanks for translating & sharing.
Very good! I just don't like the fact you will destroy a paint brush... I am trying to think in other place to get the hair, maybe from dogs?
One of the reasons to use a brush is the hair is already pretrimmed and matching. Just a note, you could also use toupee tape which is a double sided tape, you can get it from a beauty supply, the popular brand name is Topstick. Here : http://www.vapon.com/topstick.htm
This is brilliant! Thank you so much! I've been looking for brown human false eyelashes in local stores and I can't find any. This is really helpful.
Hmm, I wonder if I could use my own hair for this instead of a paint brush. I'm always having to trim my bangs every month or so. Hahaha, sounds like a weird idea though.
wow , this is a great way to make your own doll eyelashes! comes in handy for those times your strap for cash hehe
Thank you for posting! Eyelashes are another bjd thing that have been confusing me a little, and this tutorial has definitely helped to straighten things up. I love how natural the eyelashes look!
Oh yes - I am going to try that. It seems so much easier that sending for lashes. I will try Alene's glue because I have been using that on other dolls with the help of a tooth pick and it works very good
This is awesome! I like how fluffy they look. The eyelashes I've put on before seem so thin and spidery. I wonder if you could use feathers the same way.. ooo.. I'm excited to experiment now!
wow this is a really great idea i'm defiantly going to try this when my girls come in. thanks for sharing~
wow this tutorial! thanks a lot! It looks a heap look better than those cheap doll eyelashes you get with blunt edges.
Posting in an old thread but. I'm still amazed by this! The only gripe i have is that using tape might deteriorate overtime, no? Or moisture might cause it to fall apart I think. Nevertheless this is a great tutorial for creating really natural wispy eyelashes. Kind of like getting those mink hair false eyelashes but BJD size!
This is a great tutorial; thanks so much! >U< The first time I tried to make my own set of eyelashes (using a waaaaaay too long set of eyelashes from DZ), it was a total flop. If I ever try to make my own, I'll definitely use this~
I am definitely trying this! However, I do think the poster that said that the tape might deteriorate over time has a point. Does anyone have any feedback on this method after a fair amount of time has gone by? In my experience, this kind of tape tends to get crumbly and yellow after several years.
I've done this with faux fur clippings when I wanted to match a wig perfectly. But I only did one piece of tape, then painted glue on the ends. Once that dried, I removed the tape and painted glue on the other side. Worked great for me. Unfortunately I decided I didn't like the wig color so they had to be removed.. XD But they held up very well for the 2 months I had used them.
Has anyone used this in application to shorten human lashes? ^___^ i think it would work, but I don't know! They are more sparse than paintbrush hairs
How we'll will this work on tiny bjd? I have Pukifee dolls and realPuki. I think this an awesome idea. Cheaper then buying the eyelashes.
I tried this and it worked great! It takes some patience for sure - and a stomach of steel to sacrifice even an old brush - but I couldn't be more pleased with the result! I made a paper template from each eye by cutting strips of paper (wider at one end than the other) and sliding them through each eye hole. I bent each one until they rested flat against the upper rim of the eyes and then used a pencil to mark the paper along the eyelid. I was surprised that each template came out a slightly different shape, but it helped to get just the right shape to cut the tape.
This is an excellent tutorial that I have surprisingly not seen o_o Makes me wonder if I should have no bought eyelashes and made my own instead... ah well! Thanks for sharing ^^
Thanks for sharing this tut. I love the idea of using up old stuff around the house and turning it into fun or newly useful things. For thicker and longer lashed do you think using a bigger brush would work, or should I just make two smaller ones and join them?
what a genius idea. It'll definitely come in handy in the future. Thank you so much for sharing with us!
This is awesome especially since you can get big fluffy brushes at craft stores for really cheap! Thanks a million!
This is BRILLIANT! I wonder if those lashes stay together, buy anyway this is awesome. Thank you so much! x
That's really great! I've been stressing out a little about eyelashes because even just applying them is difficult for me, so it's great to have a tutorial where I can make my own if I break a few pairs along the way.
Nobody has tried medical tape instead Scotch tape? Or perhaps some fabric to glue the fibres? I believe that would work better to avoid the falling of the new lashes? When my first dolly arrives I will try this tutorial!!
