That is incredible! I wonder If I could do it for my tiny bjd. It seems like it would be difficult in 1/12 scale. This is really helpful.
wonderful... i'll try this next week! i have so many watercolour-brushes at home, and i wanted some lashes for my doll so bad... awesome opportunity to save money and make the lashes you always wanted for you BJD =)
wow i never thought of doing it this way! thanks for translating, i'm definitely going to try it out!
WOOOOW!!!!! This is so creative!!!! I would never of thought of this! Thank you for sharing!*rushes to go and make some eyelashes*
couldn't wait to try it by myself... and it is wonderful!!! made some lashes for my little girl sunday evening.... the first i made where perfect and then i had to make 4 more... and then they matched perfect together... i will put a photo in here later... here are the photos of her =) http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showthread.php?476821-Selfmade-lashes-for-Celèste
Ah! This is so innovative. I wonder whether anyone has made some really nice soft, white lashes of the white-bristled paintbrushes? Must try one day. Thank you!
Thank you for sharing. Even something as simple as gluing only a part at a time is a BIG hint. Your eyelashes look super.
I.....This is fantastic! I never would have thought of this!!! I clicked on the link figuring it would be a how to on drawing/painting them on...not like REAL ones!
Just wanted to say I tried it today with an old brush I had and it worked like a charm! Thanks for sharing!
Great tutorial and great timing! I managed to store my doll with the face cover on skewed and it crushed his lashes! Now I can make him some new ones instead of trying to straighten out the crushed ones!
Has any one had any success with this? any pics/tips? I had trouble getting the lashes on the tape nicely and failed miserably.
Hmm, is the tape you're using pretty sticky? For something like this, I'd opt for the name-brand tapes. The pics show the person using the shiny clear tape, so I'm not sure if using the satin/transparent tape would work, also.
a lot of people seem to say that, but if it's an old brush or a brush that just needs a little thinning anyway then its just another way to recycle. Also the brush is still totally usable if you only make one pair.
Im just making Wig for my doll from kanekalon so i will try this tutorial on kanekalon as i am curious how well it will work
Kanekalon is a bit thicker than natural fibers so just be careful with the density (amount) you use if you want to keep it natural looking.
See, and I have lots of old brushes laying around that I've not been able to throw out because it seemed wasteful. Any bought eyelashes I've had at all have been not to my liking and I think I NEED to try this. None of the pictures anybody's posted have shown up, though... Can anybody post ones they have from trying?
Ooo, what a neat idea! I think it looks super pretty before they painted them black, personally, but that really gives people a lot of options for customizing. Thanks for the translation!
This is probably one of the most clever things I've seen done as far as eyelashes are concerned! Great tutorial, thank you bunches!!!!
Thank you for posting this! I've been trying to find natural looking human lashes to use but those don't seem to exist anywhere :X
I used this tutorial for the eyelashes in my first BJD, it worked out pretty well! There was a step in the original tute that I was a little confused about (seeing as I'm new to the whole faceup thing, first time doing this) so I came up with a quick simple way to make a re-useable template for the tape....all details in the blog for those who are interested The brush issue was a non-issue as I used an old brush from a $2 pack of 5. Also, i heated up my tool to curl the lashes with a hot air gun, but as noted by a few before me, take care not to work on the bristles with too hot a tool or it might singe! Thanks so much again for the translation, tute and ideas!
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I never did know what to do with the spare brushes I didn't use (coming from those cheap $2 for 5 packs) and now I've found a use for them. Can't wait for my boys to get home so I can make them some lashes! >w<
*bookmarks and subscribes* This will be wonderful for my doll, that way I dont have to wait for shipping, nor do I have to pay outlandish prices. Thanks so much for this tutorial!
Awesome tutorial, thank you very much! As a hairdresser I will put in my 2 pennies - if you take a natural bristle brush you may decide to dye it with a permanent haircolor or bleach it prior to making eyelashes.
This is cute but where is everyone finding such expensive lashes? E.L.F. sells amazing lashes for 1.00 xD
