I'm excited to hear about this new company RSDOLL! I love what I'm seeing from them so far and the spine bone system looks interesting. RSDOLL News Thread RSDOLL Website
I really am interested in the spine system and I love my dolls from Raurencio Studio! I am deciding which is my favorite head.
I am really loving that the RSDOLL RG Line is compatible with the Volks' SD17 in terms of clothing, shoes and wigs. I was also curious about the company especially since it is also owned and operated by the owner of Raurencio Studios. Racius tells me that RSDOLL is the commercial brand of Raurencio Studios. He is working closely with Crobidoll in the production of his new dolls. So the normal skin resin is the same as Crobi's with Volks' being more yellow.
Hi nancy! I have the RSDOLL web site pulled up as we speak taking a look at their boys. I'm aiming towards Evan and Daniel so far. They do have a promotion going on of getting a free random head for full doll purchases by July 5th. Not much time I know, but it took the Mods a few days to determine whether or not RSDOLLs were to be allowed on the forum.
Oh? I wonder whether this body is compatible with Raurencio Studio's older heads, then... I've always loved the Adonis head, but was never fond of the body that went with him. ^^ I'd love it if I could stick him on the RSDoll body, instead! It looks lovely~ That said, I'm also rather liking the heads that RSDoll have released here - Daniel, in particular. I'd be interested in seeing a blank shot of the head.
The original Raurencio Studio resin was very light. They might be using the Crobi resin now, but if you get an older Adonis head it might be lighter than the body. The neck on the new body is smaller according to their measurements. I would ask them about it.
Hi kirika! According to RSDOLL on their Q & A the Raurencio Studio heads (Adonis was specifically mentioned) will not fit on the RSDOLL body. Racius is going to be redesigning the heads to match RSDOLL.
Hi, PacificBlue ^^ Hmm... I was expecting the neck to be smaller, but hoping the resin wouldn't be that much different. But they're redesigning the heads, eh? Might be worth waiting for, then. I'd prefer that to playing resin match, at any rate... *lazy, lazy* In the meantime, I think I'll toss around the idea of sliding a Daniel into my crew. I really like that ever-so-slight smile of his. XD
What does this new venture mean, exactly? Is Racius kind of re-"starting from scratch"? Bringing out a new body and only a couple of head sculpts (quite different from earlier style, as well)? Or is the older website still up as well? The spinal thing reminds me of the white plastic segmented doll frame strips we tried putting into Dollshe torsos to keep the tum from popping. This is so much more realistic-looking, though. There's a wonderful advanced mod opportunity there for someone --
Hi hobbywhelmed. See post #3 about the company. ^^ The spinal cord is quite nice indeed! And the thing is that it is included as part of the male body already and no need to buy separately. If you check out the news thread there should be a diagram on how it works or on their site as well.
PacificBlue - I saw your post, above. Wasn't sure what "commercial brand" meant - the name, or a new line of dolls with a separate identity from the older ones. I did find my link to the previous Raurencio Studio website and that appears to still be in operation, with some dolls still being sold. I saw the news thread earlier today and checked out the new website, which is where I noticed the new style of the heads available there.
The body is really nice and that new system sure sounds interesting. I really hope someone in my area will get one cos I'd love to take a closer look at one. Also, colour-wise. It might fit my two Minimee heads better than the Unidoll and Dragondoll bodies they're on right now.
Khell, speaking of minimee do you think if their normal skin resin matches minimee normal? I also thought the same thing immediately when seeing this new company by Racius XD
I'm not sure since there's no one, yet, who could do a comparison but I hope so. Unfortunately, the body's too small for the head that's currently on the Dragondoll body - I got that huge Uncle body for a reason. But maybe Racius will make a taller body later? I'd sure love to see resin comparison pics of the RSdoll body cos it loosk fabulous!
Rsdoll offers the chance to buy the special heads which will be released continuously at a discounted price to customer who buys a rsdoll. I posted the news in the Notice on our website
That is wonderful news! Is the new normal resin the same color that was used for for the ladies on the new lady body?
It's a great offer really! The Adonis and Marco heads are going to be resized to fit the new RSDOLL body. The features will stay the same though smaller. Also, those who buy an RSDoll can get Adonis and Marco at discounted price plus a free head. ^^ nancy: The resin color used now is the same one used by Crobidoll who is helping with the doll manufacturing.
The new ladies were produced after they started working with Crobidoll. I just wanted to be sure it is the same resin. If it is, I can post a comparison of the old and new resin. I asked on their Q&A board.
Another voice adding my awe and desire to the thread, this seems like a fantastic idea and I'm really excited someone has come up with this! I *may* have to go stalk the website now.. I don't think I'll be lucky enough to get myself a full doll for the event, but with tax time coming up soon this might be a good one to get to know a little better! Very impressive
We’re sorry but we don’t know what it means. We don’t work with Crobidoll to develop girl dolls, we don’t have such a plan^^; We just said our normal color is the same with Crobidoll’s one. Please correct it.
nancy: The girls on Raurencio's site is still the same resin as before. Only the new RSDOLL guys are the ones being done by Crobi.
I wonder if this spine system will work with other brands of dolls? I notice that it is listed separately. It is a great idea. Nice to see an actual new system being designed.
What difference would the spin part make? I am quite interested about it but it doesn't seem to show much difference compared to using the common elastic...? :/
Hello. We updated pictures of head part with makeup and head part without makeup in our website. We will update the news about new events in the notice board, so please refer to the board.
The spine bone system immediately had my attention as well! But, after having pondered it for a while... what are the vertebrae really there for? I mean, the movement of the torso must come from the metal rod that holds everything together, as far as I can see, it must be somewhat flexible. The vertebrae are put on the rod like beads on a string, and they have no visible connection among each other, as they would have in a working spine. So, are they for (a very cool) decoration only?^^ Anyway, I like their face molds as well! Well done.
The vertebrae are indeed decorative (and very cool! What a great idea.). The functional part is the anchored wire. It must be flexible, either a woven thing (they call it a "wick") or a soft wire like aluminum bonsai wire, since they show pictures of a good range of movement. What this setup does is prevent the stomach popping that happens with some dolls with a hip joint because of the strong tension and pull of the strings through the torso. Some bodies, like the old Dollshe, used to pop all the time. Later bodies, like Delf, had a raised area inside the pelvis that would prevent any full slide of the torso part. For Dolshe's, with no internal lips, some of us put a length of segmental doll frame (white, plastic, made of interlocking segments easily popped off but hell to put back together) sometimes used for cloth dolls. What this did was stabilize the whole torso (they had a separate chest piece too) and prevent too much motion and slide at the hip level. But since it was a much more rigid system, we lost the ability to do any really slouchy or angled movements of the torso. I have one of the first Raurencio male bodies, and they had no internal stoppers at the hips, and side-side torso movements are somewhat unstable (even more so than the earlier-made UD-r bodies by the same sculptor). I'm really interested to see this new system in owner-action. And the thought of a spine inside...
The first think I thought of seeing this spine is the internal structure of the Volks Dollfie Dreams. Not that is looks the same, the idea is similar. IMHO
I'm very excited about this new company, especially the spine-bone system! I did ask racius whether the Raurencio site was carrying on, and he said that it is. I ordered a Ralph head from Raurencio which is on its way - I wish I could put him on the RSDOLL body! It will be very interesting to see whether the two kinds of resin have a similar tone.
Hello, hobbywhelmed. It was surprised me that you have the doll made by me long time ago. They were many problems because the doll made long before, but you have been keeping the doll so I appreciate about that(Actually, the doll is a model emphasized on a realistic muscle description, for this reason the doll have imperfect joints.). I think that the spine bone system this time is imperfect, too. However I’ll make the better joints by continuing with consideration. And I have a plan that upgrade consistently to the people purchased my doll.
Hello, Mandagore. I appreciate your comment, and your thought was right on the mark! The spine bone system is just decoration as you mentioned. ^^ I were concerned about making the torso part of sculpt have variety poses. But the torso part linked by elastic string couldn’t always have a fixed pose because tension of string. So other doll designers, including me, used to make partly fixed joint in the way that hanging each other by making groove joints. I were worried about the way make a sculpt having more free action. And I tried linking a belly part by wire. And therefore I made the belly part like now. The wire in belly kept state how moved, so it helped making poses I wanted. However, it can’t bear to see the metal wire inside beautiful dolls made by me. Please imagine that our beloved dolls have just metal string inside. How ugly it is! I think that dolls have a beautiful appearance, should have a beautiful inner side. For this reason, I made the spine bone in part. Because the dolls made by me have human’s looks, I thought that it was cool having inner side similar to a human’s. Of course it has a lot of expense and effort to make the spine bone shape in invisible side like this. But I’ll gladly take the trouble for the people loved dolls made by me, and decided that didn’t take any additional cost. The point of spine bone system this time is a flexible wire, and you are correct. But I think decorating the wire is important part to a doll designer.
It's really cool to have a doll with a spine, even when you can't see it from the outside! And the body is really beautiful.
racius, I understand! Thanks for answering. You are right - your spine bones are very delicate and aesthetically pleasing, great work! They look so natural, at first I thought the pictures showed an anatomical model of the human spine, like the ones we used when I studied! ("For decoration" was never meant to be derogative, by the way. I just wondered how it works.) It is a pity you cannot see these little works of art anymore once the doll is fully strung!^^ Hobbywhelmed, oooooh yessss, I remember the doll armatures we put into the ole belly popping Dollshe boys, amongst other things^^ I still might have one or two of these things lying around in the doll room. A pity they never worked too well^^
It`ll hold the posings you make in place I think. On a doll without the spine, if trying to pose it to like sit with the back bending forward. You might have some trouble depending on how the doll is built. My SDF body tend to shoot back up if I try to bend it to much forward. I think it is brilliant with that spine. Allows the doll to keep the posing positions you want it to keep
Has anyone ordered these handsome guys yet?! I've just placed my order for Daniel! I really love the new body that RSDOLL has created and can't wait for my guy to come home.
Too bad we are on opposite sides of the country! We could have gotten them together if we lived close to each other!
Well, I'm hoping with the free head event that perhaps we get the other head we were looking at as well. Fingers crossed! It is too bad! It seems like all the doll people I would like to hang out with in the US are in California.
*lurking* I have decided that Evan is gorgeous and I might need one. >_>; Just, he'd be way too tall for the character, so I'll have to hunt down a shorter body...I wonder if Supia NS might be a semi-close match? Hrmmm~ *goes back to staring at Evan pics* -w-
I actually have a normal skin Supia at home. I would be glad to do some comparisons once I get my boy home from layaway.
Oh wow! You are sooo lucky! I wanted both him Tokyo Dollism Ver. Daniel as well. Will you be posting some pics or doing a review?
How wonderful! The Dollism dolls looked wonderful! The eyes can easily be replaced with glass! My Evan Oriental version should be home tomorrow!
Since I can post only one photo here I`ve taken a few and put them in the gallery for easier viewage: http://www.denofangels.com/forums/s...-Evan-Tokyo-Dollism-LE)&p=9342655#post9342655 Resin wise, I would say he`s a shade lighter than Volks
I just unwrapped Evan! He is lovely! Great face-up and the posing is great! I have only stood him once and he chose a very nice and natural pose! The resin is a really nice color! No time for pictures or comparisons tonight!
If I weren't so set on getting LLT's Ludwig (whenever he'll be released), I'd get one of these dolls. That spine-system looks so interesting! But unfortunately, I only got room for one more big doll, so ...
My Daniel is in! He's absolutely wonderful! Beautiful faceup and he stands right out of the box. Very smooth movement in his body and he slouches quite well. ^^ He is slightly lighter in coloring to Volks normal skin and abit lighter than Dollshe Oriental Skin. He's a bit more creamy colored and a touch bit yellower than both. Dollshe is a flatter color in comparison to Daniel. Both Dollshe and Volks would definitely work if you don't mind a slight color difference. Yes, thanks. I'm thinking about putting my LLT Roderich head's on the RS body which are a good match to Dollshe oriental, if I can't pick up two more purebodies before they are discontinued.
Here are a couple of pics taken in natural light. From left to right: Dollshe in Oriental Skin, RSDoll, Volks Pureskin Normal. All 3 dolls are new for 2012.
You're welcome Cloudedmind! No problem glass_mountain! The head attaches the usual way with the large S hook in the head. The string itself leads down into the neck and into "spinal cord."
