For me it would be ATS studio, They have such gorgeous boys!! I hope to own one, they just released Auriga, he's absolutely beautiful, wish I could get him, but working on other dolls at the moment.
I've recently started looking at DollZone, Dream Valley, and Doll Leaves. They're pretty different than my usual aesthetic but I've got a character in my brain that I just can't shake.
I've known about Migidoll for years, but lately I've just decided to start hoarding their sculpts. I like how they're more realistic than a lot of companies out there, but not that hyper realistic "I thought that was a real person!" look.
Probably dream valley! My latest doll was from them and I was impressed with the engineering and sculpting so would like more. I have another one on layaway, I’ll be happy once he’s paid off though I might not keep him
SWITCH! Received my first SWITCH boy recently, and everything is near perfection -- the body sculpt is very detailed and gorgeous, the resin tone is gorgeous, and the artist faceup is immaculate. So it goes without saying, the quality is really impressive, which may be a result of them developing in a purposeful manner, and not expanding too quickly despite the demand.
My love of the classic line of Bluefairy Tinyfairy led me down the rabbit hole of searching for Angel Region's earliest version of Little Fair's (as they shared the same body and initially had/have the same artist/sculptor). I recently acquired a Ren in need of faceup and a Present Smile half closed eyes Ren with the priest outfit and rosary. I would love to find one of the 58cm line Fair Kai, too. I love to search for older dolls and this is right up my alley of having very limited information and vey few surviving picture links for reference (also how frustrating is it to use the wayback machine and have nothing come up ) my slow progress only spurs me on and I hope to find more info and more dolls.
Coral Reef Dolls has caught my eye recently. I love their unique fantasy style and am kind of tempted by their new clock girl Ling.
@namika : I agree, they have some very cool and unique sculpts. I'm very interested to see how they evolve. One company I've recently became re-invested in is Souldoll. I joined the hobby in 2007, and Souldoll was around but I didn't have a ton of interest in many of their sculpts. I had one Souldoll boy in my collection, and for roughly 10+ years didn't buy anything else besides clothes from them. Then in 2020, they released a pair of Zenith boys that I instantly fell for and that made me very interested in their recent dolls (especially their Concept Art Dolls). Now I think I have around 14 of their sculpts~ I just fell in love with the company out of nowhere! Interestingly enough, I now would like to acquire some older sculpts I slept on. Crazy how dolls you known about for ages can get you super excited again!
There is quite a few I liked since searching for a sculpt for my character I want to shell, I would say companies like Migidoll, Luts, Switch, Loong Soul, ect...similar companies like that.... perhaps between Migidoll and Switch because I've been looking at dolls from them more recently
The first doll company I fell in love with and recently caught my eye again is Blue fairy. A few months ago, I sold all the tiny fairy-sized dolls, but I'm worried that I fell in love with them again. I'll think a lot about it until I buy it again, but it’s true that I recently fell love with Blue fairy.
Oh, and another company that's grabbed my attention recently is DollSN. They have actually been around for quite a while it seems but has mainly flown under the radar for most collectors. I guess their face sculpts are pretty standard but I think some of them are really cute. Their bodies are also rather basic, but they are solid standers and very affordable. They are great for beginners! (Though I'm not one! XD) The quality of their faceups is fantastic, especially their limited faceups. You can also get them as fullsets, and the clothes and wigs that come with them are quite high-quality. They have an international site and an Etsy store. Shipping for dolls is free on their Etsy store! They ship via K-Packet which is slower than EMS but does have tracking. And the tracking info you get is basically the same as EMS (if I remember correctly). If you want EMS, you have to buy from their international site. On thing to note is that they ship with very minimal packaging, if you buy from their Etsy at least, and my 1/4 doll was placed inside a drawstring bag in a small box in the fetal position, yet she managed to arrive in perfect condition. I bought two of their dolls a while back during a sale on Etsy and am currently waiting for one more! They ship very quickly! For my first order, they shipped my dolls separately as K-Packet shipping has size restrictions. One doll was shipped in less than a month and the other was shipped in a little more than a month. Their customer service is also great and they respond very quickly to messages on Etsy.
Over 2021-2022, I've become something of a Myoudoll fan. Their sculpts are cute and pretty versatile, their bodies have nice posability, their faceups are nice (nice enough I paid for one, when I pretty much always get blank dolls), and they have interesting fullsets (Macarena has a gorgeous fullset, and Dietrich's dress looks like something I'd expect from fairyland, not a "low price" chinese company). Add to that a nice variety in sizes (classic SD/MSD/YOSD, but also mature tinies and big babies and anime style doll) and it's hard for me to not want them all.
Oh, Peakswoods. I have been aware of them for a long time, but only recently kind of re-discovered them. I now have a Dotty Muse, who I am utterly in love with, and a vampire Red head on order that I hope will be here quickly!
Coral Reef. I've only collected smaller dolls so far with 1/4 being the largest so far, and I am still starting out collecting in general. Earlier this year I was looking to buy my first larger doll (68-72cm), maybe LoongSoul or Telesthesia and Dragon. I wanted to try a larger size because I love detailed, opulent outfits and more mature head sculpts, so I thought I should try a big doll. But lately everything Coral Reef is putting out is catching my interest. I did cave and order some of their unique accessories. I'll have to hold off on dolly purchases for a bit of time, but I am really smitten by their cute 1/6 sculpts... so far from the larger dolls I was considering. I also love Dream Valley's inventiveness, and I have to keep asking myself whether I want to save up for a larger humanoid doll or if I want to collect all of their tinies. Super tempting. A month ago the answer was clear, but now I'm conflicted. I also am intrigued by their giraffe centaurs, but I don't know if I want to own one... I do want to see one irl, though. And I have a soft-spot for all of their fox related sculpts. And Soom has long been in the back of my mind. Admiring so many of those head sculpts drew me into the hobby in the first place. ❤️
This year it’s definitely been Lillycat for me. I have one at home and three more on order. They’re so delicate and pretty.
I've fallen back in love with Luts. I used to really only like their fantasy sculpts, but now I'm seeing their regular sculpts in a whole new light.
I've become a fan of Dream in the last couple years. I have two MSDs and a pet doll from them so far, and also want one of their tinies.
Kanadoll. She started up while I was on my very long doll hiatus, so her sculpts are new to me. To my eye, Kanadoll is in the similar aesthetic family as Migidoll, Crobidoll, Switch, LLT, Little Monica, and Granado. I like many Migidoll sculpts and Crobidoll's Lance (and only Lance), but for some reason I'm not a fan of any of the others, even though I've tried to like them. Then Kana's sculpts really, really grabbed my eye. Mars has gone straight onto my wishlist (he's perfect to shell a character), and I'm also keeping tabs on Eden and Saeryun, though I'm not as fond of Adrian who seems to be the most popular/released. Kana somehow hits the sweet spot for me that other studios missed. I'm watching all her socials now!
Morolab2 and Dollsn for me! I love the sculpt I just received from Morolab2 and I'm eyeing a dollsn boy for my doll family
Fairyland. I just missed the opportunity to buy Pukifee since I entered the hobby a short time before they stopped selling them. Now that I have two that I bought second hand I completely understand the love for them!
LUTS absolutely *-* I've always had them on my watchlist and checked their new releases out frequently. But it took quite some time for me to really "fall for them" and now I'm utterly obsessed! I received my first 65cm boy from them just 3 weeks ago and I'm already about to purchase a new one ♡
Fairyland has been a mainstay for me since 2009 lol i also admire some luts sculpts and SOOM (if i only had the room for those big boys QAQ) and uh Dust of Dolls but man those are pricey
I just discovered Irrealdolls and am now obsessed with their Nur sculpt amongst others. I really hope they do another preorder for him, and also release more MSD sized dolls.
Coral Reef is a company I discovered this year and have totally fallen in love with all their sculpts. Sadly I missed the first two girls they released, but I was able to get the rest I wanted!
Lately I've become more and more interested in Crobidoll. I just recently brought home a Crobidoll Thor and I've got a Crobidoll Kyul head on the way I've always liked their dolls in general, but as of recent I've recently been falling for their sculpts.
It's also Crobidoll for me! I love those stylized ski-jump noses and big eyes. I still haven't played the otome game Nameless (which centers around Crobidoll) but I imagine it'll be hard to resist once I do.
Two very different companies, but Doll Chateau and Fairyland. I had always thought Doll Chateaus Doll were a bit odd, and would never strike that cord, but I've been searching for a doll to shell and OC and I fell in love with quite a few sculpts from them while browsing. I ended up putting their new version of Julianne on layaway, oops. As for Fairyland was on the opposite side of the spectrum, I had always seen their sculpts as plain, but again while browsing for a shell, I've fallen in love with them, and even come to like their bodies, as I wasn't a huge fan of them before. I'm a bit of a sucker for larger, upturned eyes so I guess it makes sense.
I just started looking at bjd sculpts and I’ve honestly ended up liking a lot of the Gem of Doll and Dream Valley sculpts. I also have been preferring MSD sizes and those two have MSD sculpts that can look a little older instead of looking like teenagers or kids which is what I prefer because I’m trying to customize my dolls to look like some of my original characters.
I’ve fallen big time for DoDollsDream’s Swan Song Petite Marionette and hope to own one some day through the second-hand market (I unfortunately couldn’t make their last pre-order) I also very much hope to get some Twigling girls one day! I love their unusual faces and their bodies are so beautifully sculpted.
Sartoriaj, I truly love the majority of the new sculps they release. My personal aesthetic is that I want the dolls to look photorealistic, and they do it for me.
Doll Chateau. I always liked one of their pet dolls, and a couple head sculpts caught my eye, but their proportions were too strange and unattractive to me… This year, however, I have slowly fallen head over heels in love with their dolls, proportions and all. I especially like the carving and tattoos they do for some of them. They are just so gorgeous!
LLT The bodies of their dolls are so lithe and graceful. Pointe feet and everything just accentuate the physique of a dancer. I love them so much
Absolutely Dream Valley (points at signature). There’s a huge (and growing!) portion of my doll collection that is from Dream Valley. Every time they have a new release, my wallet runs and hides in fear.
Peak's Woods. I adore their style and their intricate face ups. Majority of my dolly wishlist seems to be composed of their dolls.
For me, it's Y.Cen Doll! I've fallen for all of these boys but only have room for one, so Chi Ye it is!
VOLKS!!! I had absolutely no interest in them when I first started the hobby, I KNEW I would never own one ever... Fast forward a few years later and I have a couple of them now. Rapunzel was the first that I just fell in love with. I just love how they look with custom faceups.
Lillycat and Pasha Pasha, I love the styles of both of them! Lillycat for the soft look and pasha pasha for the high articulation and attention to detail.
I own a MYOU mature, and I can definitely say I love their sculpts. I need a Teresa, Dietrich and a Chelsea. Gothic style girls in black or white for the win.
I’ve grown to appreciate loongsoul a bit more. I’ve always been curious but I’ve never went to do a deep dive. O man they have very nice sculpts their fantasy dragon boys and cang jue chef kiss.
ANother Secret dolls, really love their body sculpts! As for head sculpts, Prime Frame has been releasing really attractive ones. Before PF I was really into the ones release by Lemoon. I realise I'd always tend to gravitate towards the Korean BJDs brands.
I fell in love with MYou last year. The beauty and quality are top notch, while the prices are very moderate, especially if there's a sale. I just got my DZ LE Michelle after only 3 months. She's wonderful! This year, I've ordered 2 Dolllzone msds. I never used to like their dolls, but after 17 years in the hobby, I suddenly wanted the cute Penny, and had to have the strange vampire doll "The Hanged Man". I usually get my weird dolls from DC, but not this time. Here's a new to me doll company that I'll have to keep checking -- as if I need more dolls!
Lately I've been obsessed with Vings (Dollvings) and Bimong Art. I actually fell in love with their body sculpts first, though both artisans make beautiful head sculpts. I see no end of attractive BJD heads out there, but I'm seldom impressed by bodies - there just don't seem to be many bodies that have beauty/appearance that match my tastes, AND ball joint engineering that looks well made and poses well. When I laid eyes on Vings' 68cm boy and Bimong's Narae and Narin, I knew immediately I was looking at extraordinary doll bodies. I've ordered Bimong 68cm Narin fusion, and am waiting for Vings to reopen preorders so I can order Seira on the 68cm body. I look forward to having those dolls in my hands eventually... kinda want those bodies a little bit more than I want the heads!
Huajing is my current obsession; the resin is beautiful as are the sculpts, and I have been really pleased with the company face ups. They pose nicely, the only limitations being range of head motion and the slightly jerky torso. But having bought from a few different doll companies in this price range, I like them the best by far.
I've gotten into MYOU recently. I really like their Big Baby sculpts, and I have a tiny of theirs on the way.
Recently discovered ShouShou. Their stuff is really cute, but I can never seem to find anything in stock. Might be a very long time before I can get CoCo or Niko, if ever
Recently I’m interested in Withdoll. I have purchased Lupin from them but I haven’t received it yet. Lupin’s official display photo looks just gorgeous and I’m so excited to have him
I re-fell in love with Dollfie Dreams again and the amazing head faceups I've seen. They were originally what got me into the hobby. I'm realizing they were really the type of doll I was after all those years ago. I just couldn't afford them nearly 10 years ago.
I find I like Little Rebel dolls lately... The Mini-Namu sculpt looks like it would be good for shelling an OC of mine
If last spring counts as recently, then Little Monica. I used to have LM doll back in the day and last spring I went to their website out of nostalgia and fell in love all over again. Too bad they closed down last Autumn, it was really sad day for me… but I got my faves thankfully. I hope someday LM comes back, but at least the second hand market of LM is still existing.
Coral Reef is fast becoming a danger company for me. I haven't bought one yet, but oh my goodness, One looks so good. Although, I'm still waiting for my dream doll - a 70 to 75 cm mature female doll. It's okay. I can wait. My wallet can definitely wait.
