[Adopted] Doll Chateau Youth Dolls Part 2

Sep 21, 2013

    1. Hello Everyone:
Since the thread for Doll Chateau Youth dolls was locked I decided to start another thread. I would love to continue our discussions on these wonderful dolls.

    2. Yay I'm glad you started this thread again! I kind of wanted too but since I only own bodies I didn't know if I should.

I feel like the knees on mine have suddenly stopped working XD I wired them, and now I'm planning on kipping....I wonder if I restrung him looser somehow when I took him apart....

    3. Oh wow, second thread already?
I'm only halfway through my layaway to get my boy Christina and the wait is killing me! I originally wanted the body for my zaoll luv boy, but I wasn't sure it would work. But I think Christina would be a wonderful boy as well.

vampireangel: do the extra joints make it difficult for your boy to stand? Is that why you are going to kip them?

    4. Well, I don't think it's his ankles, I think it's his knees....when I first got him he stood for about an hour unaided, I didn't have any trouble with him at all. Now he just buckles at the knees and won't do anything....which is odd since he's less top-heavy than he was originally heh heh. Which is why I thought maybe I didn't get the tension right or something when I unstrung him to mod off the boobs.

The extra joints have a lock, and seem to be pretty stable. Plus he's in boots. They're not great, which might be part of the problem. I need to switch them out with with one of the other Kara Klums.

FYI for those who might care, Dollmore Model F shoes are too narrow for these feets. I think they'd be long enough, but I couldn't get them in all the way. Adam shoes seem to be ok, they're mostly wider, and the same length as the Model F.

And lol I almost died waiting for mine too! Mostly because I had the head ready and really wanted that body to get here!
Wasn't too bad a wait for me - three months almost to the day - but I think mine got tossed in an earlier order because it was the only body ordered around that time. No one else in my order got anything.

    5. Woot! Second thread. Here's a pix from the other thread showing my hybrid Supia/DC. No extra joints, I think her head is to big for this body and with the extra neck joint she looks like a balloon.

VampireAngel13, I think he may be too loose in the legs. Try tightening him up a bit. Oh, and yeah, more pix. I love your boy!

    6. I don't think she looks too bad! Just really delicate. I love her ears >3<

Yeah I think he's too loose. I'm not sure what happened, since he was fine last week! I played with him too much lol

      I can do pix!

    7. Wheee, new thread!
      enigmadoll
, I think she's neat... the proportions could work in a fantasy-type way, I think. And damn, that's a gorgeous head. Muriel is totally on my wishlist now.
VampireAngel13, he is super cool! I love the skeleton faceup.
It's a new thread so I must spam this arty picture of Sybil (NS-Y Stacy) :)

    8. Guuuhhh, I'm so jealous of you guys and your new bodies! I love my Ever just the way she is, though.

wildwoodflower, your girl is so spunky! And her necklace, wow!

Anywho, here's some spam for the new thread...

    9. :D She's so pretty!! I love her outfit!

Yeah, Ever is fabulous as is!
Besides as fun as they are, I'm having a hell of time finding shoes that will fit this massive-footed guy D: Everything is too small!!

I have to try all the boots on. Something has to work. I just know the only ones that will fit will be the ones my other WS Kara Klum is wearing, and I bought those specifically for him. And they weren't cheap.... D:
I can't imagine trying to find girl shoes for these feet!

    10. I think someone uber talented needs to start making shoes for this body and selling them. Shoes and clothes.

VampireAngel13: he is really cool and the body is perfect for that face-up.

As far as shoes for her (I still don't have a name for her) I gave up. Nothing fits her. I have some DM boots that work but not for a fairy type look. No girly shoes for her...

wildwoodflower: I love your Sybil. Did you make her outfit? (sorry if you've answered this already, I'm just too lazy to look in the other thread)

pinkandyellow: your girl is darling. Too cute!

    11. Seriously! I have a few DM boots, so far I've only tried on the one pair, and they're the only shoes I've gotten on him. Another pair my Adams wear that aren't from DM aren't working. I may have to gather all the Dollmore shoes.
Though I have two pairs of Model F high-heeled boots, and they're too narrow D:
And, as if feet aren't enough of a problem, some of them won't close over the ankles XDDDD

    12. Hello Everyone: Yep! Clothes are a problem with these beauties. Nothing on the market fits them very well. But, be be honest I like designing and sewing clothes for these dolls. I do like Doll Chateau without shoes though. The feet are such a work of art I hate to cover them with shoes :)

I have been working on my " Peacock Empress". AKA "Christina" I got the helmet completed this weekend. I really enjoyed being creative with her sculpt.
I thought I would spam a few pictures of my Helmet work.

    13. I thought to pop in and make a comment on the wonderful Supia/ DC hybrid. I am wondering whats the headsize and neck size on the Supia since it looks big enough for a large doll. It really does work well I must say.

    14. Uguuu! Enigmadoll I fell in love with Muriel as soon as I saw her and I didn't think I'd get her because of the body but I think it works amazingly! O_______O!!! Oh the hybrid possibilities... I have three heads I want. Thinking about getting them all eventually, trying them out on the DC body and then decide which to keep. I want Zaoll Luv, Souldoll Madalyn, Elfdoll Sian and Muriel <3 I have serious doubts the eelfdoll heads would fit since they are rather big? Luv seems to have the right size to fit the regular youth body and perhaps the Y-03 version too. Luv is my dream girl. Oh god, how will I manage all this and still afford Dolores. HYPERACTIVE PANIC!

I had that exact same problem. Out of the box she stood really well and steady but it didn't take long before the strings didn't seem to want to hold her weight. The knees are build a little unsteady but I managed to fix it! :D

I got help from my friend to tighten her strings like.. a loooot. Then I hot glued all her leg joints properly and finally wired her. Now she stands so steady I can just put her on the floor and walk away without fear of her falling over :3 Still a pain to balance her to stand that way but once it's done there are no problems at all. Tight stringing, wire and hot glue. Recepie for steady Christinas and Staceys!

    15. I think Elfdoll heads got bigger as time went on. My roommate has a Lydia and her head is not huge, but later sculpts seem giant to me! Plus they got a little more realistic, and large realistic heads seem more bobble for some reason....but Luv should be great on this body! I put my (ex) Ramie head on a DM Adam body and it was perfect, since I have an Adam head on the Y-03 I don't see why Zaoll should be different. Face size is about the same. I'd like to see it.

I don't normally like to suede knees, but I think it's going to have to happen with this guy! I kipped him (I hate kips, why did I even bother?!) and I don't think it helped much. Just going to have to buckle down and tighten!! That'll be my attempt for tonight. Last night was useless kips and shoes. He's wearing these now, which makes me think anything that can fit the Adam feet will work. Too bad these are my most expensive shoes D:
      Not buying more....

But it's good to know that he can go back to standing with a little work! My second set of photos were a pain, he had to lean in every one of them.

And enmi I would love to see more pics of Wray. She's about my favorite doll ever I think....

    16. I cannot believe how stunning your job is Mascan :drool the helmet is awesome and i love so much the sparkling paint you've used, it's a very detailed job! :thumbup
I love the hybrids possibilities too, don't get me wrong Stacey and Christina are both incredible molds, but as the body has this pretty unique easthetic it's normal to try something different than DC heads ;)
As for the shoes: well DC youth feet are huge, guess depends from jointed toefingers, so imo they can just wear flat shoes such boots and in big size.

    17. Fush, honestly Supia girls are hit and miss as far as size. I think Muriel is the widest head. She really does have chipmunk cheeks. She fits my Peakswood body, (my Rosy head looked perfect on it), but doesn't really work with Volks. Personally, I think Supia heads are too small for the Supia bodies, the neck is too thick (which makes Volks heads looks really nice on them except for the resin color difference). I think Muriel would look really nice on a DC adult body, just guessing though.

Thank you enmi! I still feel unsure about her but a face-up will probably help. And I'm seconding VampireAngel13's request. Wray really is awesome!

I hear you about the panic. I thought this doll would be my last one, LOL. No. I desperately want a Dolores head. He is too expressive to not get him. So I guess I'll panic with you because I also want another youth body, and I really want Stacy, plus Agatha. Oh dear... my poor wallet. I said no more dolls after Christina. I lied.

For those who are wondering about the pink skin tone, it's a really pretty soft pink, and depending on the light it looks like a creamy white. I love this color.

Manscan, I've been sewing for her also, which is fun, and I'm thinking of making her some shoes. Sandals with little beads, Roman style, so her toes can be seen :)

    18. Great job Mascan, you did a pretty good job with the paint, i love so much all the shimmering!:D

    19. I really wanted to work on my Christina today and tomorrow. I have to get out the airbrushes and start with her body blushing. The weather here is terrible. It has rained for 3 days straight and many areas are flooded.
So much for going outside and airbrushing my Christina

    20. Making sandals does sound fun! I may have to look into that. Great idea

    21. Awesoome. I'm working on a lot of art commissions and making custom monster high dolls to sell. That will give me plenty of money to get both Dolores and at least a Luv head to begin with. They'll be in the same kind of world and setting as Wray and I just have these awesome cool ideas for photo stories! O__O

And here are more Wray pics! So happy you want to see more of her! I upload now and then on flickr ^.^

    22. I love the idea of all these joints, but if I were to get one of these lovelies with the extra joints and then they won't stand without some major workings.....it would be hopeless since I am losing my arm strength to pull. Won't get hubby to do it he is too heavy handed:shudder

    23. My Stacy stood without too much work--you have to get the ankle joints at the right angle, but she stands OK, though not rock-steady like the Adult body.

enigmadoll: Thanks! Yep, I did make the outfit... she wore it to an anime con as Alice in Wonderland :)

enmi: I love Wray so much! I have Eun-A and Vivian from Elfdoll, and they both make OK hybrids... Eun-A looks better because she's a slightly smaller head. I'm currently traveling without my dollies, but I can try to get a picture in a few weeks, when I get back. Stacy and Eun-A definitely wear the same size wig.

    24. Yay!! She's so fabulous!! Seriously my favorite doll on DOA! :D

Aw I wouldn't call it major...And the pieces aren't that small or fragile, I doubt a heavy hand would hurt them. I hold them down on the floor with my feet to restring >.<
Which I did last night! All of 20 minutes....and it only took that long because I tried to untie that stupid knot....then I just tied a new one below it, so now he gots two knots in his torso XD

      But look! Success!!
      And uber-fast desk photo....

Weight on one foot with one knee bent! (my favorite position!)
I think I might have sueded over the torso lock lol it's hard to keep him slouching now! Might have to pull that out...

    25. Well even flip-flop style could be a possible chance, imo would be a great style for DC girls! :)

    26. Sounds like an awful weather Mascan  anyway i will wait for update from you hun!

    27. I love your guy so much VampireAngel13! :DHe is my favorite DC doll! More spam please! I really do love him!!

    28. He's not really a DC doll, so I feel bad about spamming him too much here *hides*
He's just on the body (which is the most fabulous part about him!)

    29. Ah I see, he does look wonderful, and I can see myself re-stringing one if I got one. I just can't bend my knees that well (missing some cartilage in both from surgeries) but I know I can manage, thanks for the idea.

    30. Moar Wray!

      Wray by bittersweetenmi, on Flickr

She's wearing the leather jacked I made but it doesn't really show with the photos cropped this way >_> I should really photograph her more often. It's just that daylight disappears so fast and then everything looks grainy and blegh. I still have lots of outfits and props I want to make her. I have a huge cowl-scarf in the making but knitting isn't my area... I have a friend helping out anyway :3

    31. I really adore Wray. Her styling really is wonderful.

    32. I have a question.... what size are the youth girl feet on the body with the extra joints? I've been reading that the boys feet are big and fit the dollmore model F shoes but I have no idea about the girls. MoC has them listed as 14cm O.o lol. I'm going to be getting this body for my DZ Louis floating head eventually so I need to know ^^ Thanks to whoever can help me out :D

    33. Hey Raven, they're 8.5cm. :) Here's a photo I took a while back as evidence.

Doll Chateau Y-03 Girl Body Foot Size 8.5cm by t4124, on Flickr

I just received my new DC Y-03 body and noticed they've made a slight change to the thumbs. :) Here's a photo with a first-run body on the right (stubby thumb) and the new one on the left (long thumb).

The older short thumb is a little better at gripping things, and seems to be proportioned more realistically.

The new long thumb matches the overall elongated look of the body.

    34. I had a mini meetup at my place today and got a reference pic of Wray next to my friends Dollzone Annie. They actually fit quite nicely together. The proportions make them look like sisters a bit /^-^)/ <3

    35. Thank you very much!

    36. I had this photo in the old thread, but here's Stacy (er, Stacy's feet) wearing some 70cm-boy boots from Blueblooddoll. They fit her pretty well, and there's room for at least thin socks. She stood in them quite well too--the boot helped stabilize her ankle joint.

    37. I'm I'm toying with the idea of getting the y-03 body (insure of head yet) to go with my dollshe Bernard. This may be a long shot but if someone has a dollshe and a girl with the y-03 body could you put them next to each other and take a picture? I was thinking since both are tall and lanky they may be a decent fit together...

    38. I don't have a picture, alas, but I posed my Stacy with a Dollshe Saint at a meetup, and I thought it looked nice. They have similar sized heads, and with Stacy's neck-extender taken out, she was the right height to snuggle against his shoulder.

    39. Yay!! More Wray! I do love her <3

I found Dollmore Adam\SD shoes to be a good fit, but the two Model F shoes I have didn't work...too narrow. They were High-heeled shoes though, so the regular ones might work fine.

lookame were you looking for a head comparison, or just height? I have a hound, but no DC heads. Just Dollmore XD
      I can do height\body though!

    40. I was hoping for a head and height comparison but a height comparison is fine too. I have a volks iris who was supposed to be his mate but her head is so large compared to Isaacs that I can't do it :/ I find the lankiness in both bodies to be ideal for each other so now I just need the height and such. To be honest though I'm not sure I'm sold on the head sculpts so idk well see.

    41. Ugh, why doesn't doll chateau just sell the extra parts? I really want the girl's jointed hands for my boy because the size would be perfect and I don't really want to but a doll body just to harvest them. Does anyone know how large the boys feet are and if they require a massive shoe size too?

    42. Hi everybody.. I bought 2 Girls from Doll Chateau , lately. First Stacy but I sold her very soon, and then, Christina, who arrived few days ago at my home!
I was currently thinking to sell her as well to collect some money, but then, I tried taking some pics of her and I just fell in love with her face (I ordered a custom face up for her and I must say DC made a beautiful work!) so I'm a but confused right now.
I was thinking to keep her head and maybe try to find a normal adult body (not the newer version with joints, cause I've understood I don't like them)
anyways, still no name for her.. more I look at her, more I'm sure to keep this head.. too much personality in one sculpt :D

Hope to see more of all your beauties, keep on spamming cause you have all beautiful dolls!
      cheers

    43. YESSSSSSSS, I went to Ldoll this weekend and came home with a Doll Chateau Stacy.

I had hoped to get it in white skin, because I need the body for a white skin head, but when I saw the normal pink in person I realized how pale it is and decided I could make it work.
I am ecstatic with this body. She might need some hot glue sueding though, because the resin is so smooth :B

I will post some pics of the hybrid I am making in the Doll Chateau body switch request thread.

    44. Congratulations Snow! I am curious to see what kind of character and customization you have in mind for her!
Please spam her once you finish her look!
      :D

In the meanwhile, I'm under Christina's spell and I am decided to keep her ! I mean, with this body.. I got off the extra joints and now it's much better for my tastes.
      I love the semi-articulated hands!

A bit of Ophelia Autumn (still decidind if this is her name for real!) Spam!

    45. Just in case anyone's curious about the way the sizes fit together, Ever spent some time today with thinkingstar's 70 cm boy. (Apparently they've been having a sort of casual time-traveling romantic thing, like the Doctor and River, but less obnoxious). Hopefully we'll getsome standing pictures soon -- it's so cute when her arms are around his neck, omg. They're so nice and long that they reach very well, even though her head only comes up to his chest.

      Introducing...Elle! by TinyJewelsShop, on Flickr

Hello thread! I just recieved my DC Christina and I am totally in love! Her name is Elle.

      The wonderful:
      -Her faceup is so beautiful!
-The body poses really, really well. I find that the extra joints add an unusual level of fluidity to her poses, very interesting to experiment with. Her hip joint is amazingly flexible and holds poses very well. She is well strung and has good stability.
-The carving on her body and helmets is very deep and lovely looking.
-Hands and feet have the perfect amount of jointing.
-Her wig is SO SOFT and beautiful. And it's the perfect color.

      The disappointing:
-Body blushing is oversimplfied and too pink in my opinion.
-Her helmets do not stay put together. The magnets are not strong enough. They also do not stay securely on her head since there are no magnets to attach to her head (unlike her headcap). This is such a careless design flaw. I am going to try adding magnets or something to fix this.
-The top of her neck carving/collar is not painted like in stock photos. It looks weird. I am going to try blushing it to match once I get the proper colors. It also has random mistake splotches of paint, as does her chin and arm.
-The stock outfit and jewelry do not compliment her body carvings thematically, in my opinion.
-She did not come with extra wefts of hair to hot glue into her head for wearing with the helmet as shown in the pictures at Mint on Card. This is disappointing because I love her wig and am not sure where to get extra wefts. I was able to stuff it (barely) into her head enough to get her helmet on, but it falls off and is not a good long-term solution. Maybe I can find an extra of her stock wig on the marketplace?
-At first her helmets wouldn't go on her head at all. I saw some people in the last thread had this problem too. I was able to fix this by molding the points on the bottom side of the helmet using heat. I did this with both the blank and the painted helmet and it did not affect the blushing at all. It was quite easy and took about 3 minutes. Let me know if someone wants a tutorial.

For me the wonderful far outweighs the disappointing, most of which I can hopefully fix somehow. I'll keep you all posted!

    47. Hi there. I was hoping you could be able to help me? I am currently considering buying a Doll Chateau Hubery, but I can't decide what resincolour to pick. I have tried to find reference photos on google, but I have had no luck. Does anyone of you know where I might be able to find a photo comparing the three resin colours? Or perhaps one of you have something that shows 2 or more resin colours together?

I would be grateful for any kind of help you can give me. Thank you! :)

    48. Hi Kahdrill- this is a photo from Denver Doll Emporium. It might help you decide. Personally, I think the pink resin looks a lot paler in person. My Bella and Pierre are both pink and they don't look *that* pink to me. But resin does tend to differ batch to batch.

    49. Kahdrill - I send you a PM with another picture like that.

I have these 3 colours and you should know that all of them will mellow in a year. The pink won't be that pink - and the yellow will darken a little. The white will yellow too.

    50. Thank you so much! This will give me a starting point at least, even though images can't really tell how the resin looks in "normal lighting conditions". Thank you for your quick responses, and I will be sure to drop by here again when I have something on the way :)
I am hoping DC will hold a Christmas Event, so I will (probably) wait until December before ordering.

    51. They just announced their Autumn event, which is......Uniforms! Strange, but true. Unfortunately since I've already ordered my Christina I guess that means I'll be paying full price....

    52. I am curious about this. Do you think this will replace the Christmas event they have had previously? Or are they likely to have a Christmas event as well?

    53. From the number of DC customers who are holding out for the xmas event I would think that they'll have that as well. Last year it was with a new doll so this uniform thing seems more like a "back to school" special for the fall. Perhaps it's also a way for them to test the waters of offering more clothing for their dolls which is a revenue stream that they have been missing out on in the past. I'm hoping for fancier clothes along the line of their fullset fashions for sale separately.

    54. I caught a glimpse of the last few posts of the old thread before this one :)
I'm absolutely astounded at how beautiful and unique everyone's dolls are ^O^ it makes me smile so much seeing each persons own creativity shine through like that <33

wanted to share a glimpse of Lilith :)

Siigh ~ I would LOOVE for DC to offer clothing for the dolls ! I'm in the middle of commissioning a bunch but I can't help being nervous that they wont fit :/

    55. Yes, those priestly uniforms they're offering are nice but I think they would do very well offering more clothing along the lines of their fullset clothing. At least the uniforms aren't too expensive at $70.

    56. Where are they offering those outfits o.o? I literally can't find annnythinng on their site//"DC outfit" page o.o??

    57. You can see the pictures here on the news part of the forum!

    58. I saw the pictures posted at Denver Doll Emporium
