I personally think he's adorable, but I don't have a need for a scorpion right now, especially with the pile of unfinished dolls I need to get busy with

 

I recently bought a Mini Bella on the B-07 body. She's so tightly strung that she can't sit and when she stands she bends backwards. Before I try to restring her, are there any tricks to the way this body is strung, like separate strings for the torso and legs? I don't want to break her right out of the gate. Thanks much!

 

Sounds like she’s just been strung too tight. I’d try simply loosening her strings a bit if there’s enough elastic chord to do so. If not and you have to restring her, you can do either single strings in the neck or the double strings for both arms and legs in the neck. I have two of them and I just checked...I have one done each way, and they both feel pretty much identical. They seem to be done just the same as any larger BJD.

 

Hey guys! Question. Any suggestions on what clothing might fit Luna and Fiona's body? I have a Catherine too and she's far harder to fit for but I thought Luna and Fiona's bodies in terms of dresses may fit a popular fashion doll's clothes? But I wasn't sure if anyone had experience in that regard.

 

I have two Lunas and mine both wear Blythe dresses I find on Etsy. Depending on the dress, some sleeves may be a little short, but I love the look and there’s always plenty to choose from.

 

1. Your girl is absolutely precious. I love how her shoes are painted! This is very good knowledge. It makes me think Pullip clothes would fit well too based on the measurements. Same arm issue but if you do sleeveless items. It's very helpful, thank you!

 

Thanks @PoeticSoul. I'll have to open her up and see what's going on. I sure wish these dolls came with a stringing manual. A while back I restrung my little Ada using the extra belly so she could stand on 2 legs instead of 4. Turns out her antlers make her so top-heavy that all she can do is recline in a chair, so I made her a fishtail and now she's an antlered mermaid.

 

@PoeticSoul Follow up question for you, what size eyes does Luna take? I find conflicting information saying 14 and 16.

 

I wanted a certain woeful look in mine (they’re forgotten toys) so I went with 12mm. But I think 14mm would work just fine. I would be concerned that 16mm would be too big to fit in the small space inside their head.

 

I finally got up the nerve to restring my Mini Bella. I'm amazed at how thick her string is. I've seen thinner strings used on bigger dolls, so I wonder if the extra-fat string is one reason she is so tight. I didn't have another on hand so I had to reuse what she came with, but I removed the extra joints and short resin segments in her arms and legs to ease the tension on the existing string. She'll get another restring when I find some thinner elastic.

Howdy all! I've been wanting to add Ada to my collection for some years now and I wanted to know how everyone likes her poseability as a human all these years later? I love having double jointed dolls and I think it's time for me to start looking for one to add!

 

I'm sorry if this has been asked before but does anyone know what wig size the 10cm Ants use (please)? I can't find it on Alice's, BJDiva's, or DC's website, I'm about to get the blank versions of Eco for myself and Ela for my sister and I want to be able to get wig/s for them without doing a potentially expensive trial-and-error. Please and thank you

 

What do y'all think the likelihood of Dora containing sculpted genitals is? I see on her page, her deer groin and human groin are censored, but they are not on Noah. I hope she's blank, but if she were, it's rather odd they would censor her like that. Then again, one of Noah's pictures has his belly button censored.

 

Hi everyone! I recently ordered a DC ant in the rerelease and was wondering if anyone knew what size eyes and wigs they take? Would be super grateful for any information I can get.

 

Do you know what size they are? I think they may be a 1/12 or 1/8 size, cuz they look like a similar size to my scorpio doll, so they can probably take 8-10 mm eyes (10 makes them a bit more inhuman and shows more iris) if you know what general size they are you can look up wig size for them!

Oh I absolutely love the swap was the face a factory face up? It is a bit of a shame that you couldnt get the color match, but they look so good regardless!

@Lillytail That would make them 1/12, not 1/8 (an easy way to remember is that 1/6 is 30cm so 1/12 would be half that). Not that companies use the whole scale thing accurately of course!

I just measured my ant for you, the eyes are 8mm, and the head is 3.5 inches (so a 3-4 wig). I will say that the ears will make a wig quite difficult, you might need to make your own custom wig in order to have something that stays on.

 

No problem! I took a second look around and doll legend says they use 6mm eyes (so you could still use 8mm/10mm if you wanted! I use up to 12 mm on my doll with 8mm eyes) but I cant find any head measurements you may be able to find the wig they use in the fullest and track it down for sizing, but your best option may be to wait unfortunately :c

Do you have a wig for your ant? I've been trying to make a wig for my scorpio doll, but his horns and ears make it difficult (and I'm not great at it :c) I've been considering buying but I'm not sure if itll work. If you did make your wig what did you use? I keep trying yarn but it never looks right for some reason

No, and I won't have a wig for my ant either. Actually, my ant doesn't even have ears any more! I've heavily modified it, I wanted it to be more ant-like so I removed the ears and breasts. I'll be making new hands for it, and in terms of coverings, it has an outfit made out of fake petals. Sorry I can't help with ideas for actual wigs, the thought of giving the insect dolls hair has honestly never crossed my mind!

 

It's cool! I was just wondering because I dont always see people with strange doll head/sculpts with wigs. I honestly love that idea so much. Making her more ant like sounds like such a good move. What are you thinking about doing for the hands? Will they still have fingers or will you being doing the psuedo-hook/claws that ants have?

From my instagram, this is the prototype print to check fit, the final will be printed in resin. I wanted something that kept with the feet look, but I also added a thumb just so the hands could still have a bit of expression. They are really tiny and really cute!

 

Oh those are lovely! You did such a good job with that model! I think adding the thumb was definitely the way to go, they get across hand while being super true to ants! They look tiny, I mean the ants were a 1/12 dolls right? Are you posting progress images of her on here?

 

@sketchmo Thank you! They are indeed tiny! 7.5mm across on at the widest point. Generally I'll stick to Instagram to post modding progress, or maybe make some kind of modding megapost on here at some point.

Once I've had her hands printed in resin and I'm satisfied I won't want to do any more subtractive mods, she'll be getting dyed purple.

Does anyone know if the b-body-06 was discontinued or something? It's not in the discontinued section on the DC site, but I can't find it on any of the authorized seller sites like dolk or alice's collections.

Just got my Julianne! She's actually a little bigger than I expected, and I can't say that's disappointing to me. Now I need to decide for sure what I want to do with her look... She was a slight impulse buy, but having her in hand, I don't have any regrets!

Hello all! For the Mini Bella - a 4/5 or a 5/6 wig? Her head measurement seems to be right in the middle and was wondering what’s better. Thanks!

 

I recommend a 4-5 wig.
I initially ordered a 5-6 mohair wig, but it was so big and could easily tuck the ears deep into the wig cap.

looking at the image that the linked post provided. pants might be short.
shorts fit around the hips for me.
i got a blythe blouse for my mini bella, but the arms are a tad short even after i removed the wrist/ankle joints.
some blythe overall shorts with a barbie shirt fit around the butt, but the front/torso area is a bit short, but it worked out the straps were adjustable. nonadjustable straps wouldn't work.

Does anyone know of any brand or seller that makes leggings, tights, hose, stockings, pants, or underwear that fits Mini Bella? I wasn't aware she came with a skirt and no undergarments. My ideal thing would be black and white striped tights that don't cover the toes.

Also, is anyone else disappointed that Mini Bella didn't come with the gear choker, the wind-up key on the back, or the anklets shown in every single picture of her on the DC site? The key aesthetic was part of the reason I got her (I wasn't expecting an actual wind-up doll but I loved the appearance of one), now I need to find a way to do my own and I guess glue it to the back of her clothes.

 

I don't have mini Bella, but you can sometimes find "steampunk" key and gear parts at craft stores. Usually in the scrapbooking or jewelry sections.

 

A while back I ordered some clothes for Miss Puff, my Madeline, and... misplaced them. While looking for something else last week, though, I found them again! (Isn't that how it always goes?) So she finally gets some clothes that suit her:



I still need to find a new S-Hook for her foot that's tied on for now (she came to me with half her leg missing, including the hook), and remember to check her eye size so I can get those ordered. She's meant to be a tribute to a childhood pet, who had heterochromic eyes, so I have to order two pairs for her, meaning I'd better have the size right...

 

Had her out again to help someone out with identifying markings on her, so here's Miss Puff again. Eventually I'll have things together to order another batch of eyes and get hers handled so I can move on her blushing.

 

@vicemage Miss Puff is certainly very glamorous in that outfit. I’m really looking forward to seeing how she looks with her heterochromic eyes and a faceup. She’s certainly a lovely project!

 

Does anyone have ideas for theming my Ada? I want to get her customized but I don't really have an good idea of what would look good with the body type of an Ada.
I was thinking of either a:

• clown harlequin theme with diamond pattern horns
• a purple and blue galaxy theme with possible astrological signs in gold
• a wood nymph theme with bark skin and moss hanging on the horns.

if anyone has Ada's they would like to show I would love inspiration! And any and all suggestions are very appreciated.

I found a dc mini bella secondhand!! The seller (i assume from estate sales? he has a bunch of random stuff) didn't recognize the sculpt, I think because the additional joints had been removed. I can't contain my excitement right now!!!

Hey! Can we talk about the new Tanya and Kyra dolls!? I feel like I’m the only one who thinks they are super awesome and a big deal Its partly because they brought back a body that they previously discontinued; and I’ve been searching for it! Zora was literally a grail that I thought I would never get because they discontinued that body. Although the Zora head sculpt has not returned, I really love the Tanya head and it comes on the same body. So I feel like I’m getting my grail. But I honestly feel like I’m the only one excited about them haha. Is anyone else getting one of these girls??
