None of my Bjd's wear shoes! I was just wondering if anyone else felt the same about shoes? I have dolls with tights and bare feet and thin k they look so cute and natural! Relaxed and at home I guess you could say Iv'e tried to make them as I love the crafting part of owning BJD's
My dolls are wearing sock or tabi in my room, but if I take them outside or for photos, they will wear shoes.
Sometimes, it depends on the situation. If they are leaving the house, they better have shoes on! When they're at home, they may or may not wear shoes. I would prefer they not wear shoes as we have a no-shoes-on-inside-the-house rule in our home...but sometimes dollies get away with it!
Only 3 out of 11 wear shoes and that's only because they were perfect for them. I prefer my dolls shoe-less honestly. They are all creatures (fae folk) and would thus not really wear shoes. They don't need them. I'm considering taking the shoes away from the ones that do have them :B I often find doll shoes to look wrong and out of proportion. Companies are getting better at making them look more in scale by adding more details and making them less clunky, but in general I'm not thrilled by shoes. Which is weird, because I love me some shoes for myself. Also, two of my dolls have hooves.
My doll wears socks most of the time, I only put her in shoes when going out or for photos since it makes her easier to pose
Two don't. One just doesn't. She is an elf but she's also a harpist and is always seated. I think she looks relaxed and free without shoes. The other has no shoes because I can't find any to fit him. He has slim little feet.
My dolls almost always wear shoes! I love buying cute shoes for my doll when I've got the spare cash, so of course they wear them!
It varies. My PP doesn't even own shoes because the choices are limited. I intend to fix that soon. My PKF is always in his shoes. My 70cm guy was in shoes all the time while wearing his temp outfit. I had to get him PJs and don't have a proper "outdoors" outfit for him, so he's now barefoot until I get the rest of his clothes. My incoming girl will be in shoes most of the time.
Only my EID wears shoes and she is wearing the ones I made for her. All my dolls are fae folk so they sit around barefoot a lot.
Mostly yes, but not always at home, and Heath hates shoes so he's normally barefoot. Xerxes is a pet, so no shoes for him! Though that would be funny...
For me, it mostly depends on the character and whether or not they would wear shoes (I have a couple who don't due to fantasy parts and one who just doesn't like shoes, lol). I am also really picky about shoes on my dolls. I don't like it when the shoes look to big & clunky on my guys so I'm reluctant to spend money on them unless it's the perfect shoe for them.
I suppose it's half and half for me. Most of my fantasy creatures don't wear shoes, while my humans do. If they are just lounging around I tend to take their shoes off anyways though. I find that some BJD shoes look clunky as some of the other members have stated and that bugs me. I have three pairs of nice BJD shoes that just look slightly off when they are worn. I feel like it's even more noticeable in person than in pictures.
He does wear shoes for photos, because I've found it slightly easier to pose him but I only got him recently so is still early days.
I have sort of a doll shoe problem. I have about 20 dolls and each of them has about three pairs of shoes... but a few of them have more than that. I like the idea of a barefoot doll, but if I did that I'd have no excuse for owning all this footwear.
Lol Definitely! I have three pairs of shoes for each and since they're guys, it'll be all they need. But of course, in the house, shoes off!
My boy wears shoes all the time uvu I just thought that he looks perfect with shoes rather than without one XD Well he mostly wears a prince outfit or a military outfit so his whole outfit requires shoes for the perfect something~!
Some do, and some don't. Based on the sheer quantity of miniature shoes in this house, the little brats ought to be wearing multiple pairs all day, every day!
Mine generally only wear socks or go barefoot, though then again mine doesn’t much care for pants either…
I LOVE doll shoes! Boots, particularly. They just are so cool to me. So yes, my dolls wear shoes. I think boots were one of the first things for dolls that I bought!
That made me giggle. Thank you Shoes are probably the last thing I think of, just because it's so hard to find a pair that will fit and that I like. So, when my new girls get here they'll be bare foot for a bit, with maybe some socks if it's cold.
Sieglinde wears shoes because her ankle joins are very smooth , thus with her shoes she is easier to stand. Freyr wears shoes cause they are part of his costume, but I kinda like him beter without shoes
Most of my dolls wear shoes all the time. I suppose it's part of the outfit and I have a hard time picturing them going barefooted. It's so not like them But the kids (LTF's) have the tendancy to go barefooted more frequently then the rest.
All of my dolls are bare foot at home. Sometimes they wear socks. I put shoes only when I take them out. And the main reason is their safety.
I have at least one pair of shoes for each of my dolls except one, because she has a unique size and can't share and I haven't found anything I like for her yet. My dolls usually wear their shoes because I think their outfits look more complete that way, but I'm also less likely to lose them, too!
If they have human like feet, they probably wear shoes. Fantasy feet and mermaid tail excluded. My zuzu delf doesn't always wear shoes, because I blushed his paws and those are incredidably cute, so he wears open toed/open heeled socks sometimes. I don't like it when they are barefoot when they have human feet. I don't know why really, since we too have a no-shoe-in-the-house-policy. xD
Some of mine wear shoes, some not. 7 of 20 doesn't wear shoes 3 of them have hooves/paws and shoes wouldn't fit in any way. Then two smaller dolls are barefoot, I don't find any shoes I like for them and I kind of like them barefoot. And from the two left one is barefoot because he doesn't wear any shoes on purpose (doesn't fit his character or style) and the last one doesn't have some because I can't decide for a fitting style for him :/ but his robe is long enough to cover his feet. Maybe some of them will have shoes in the near future, I already made 3 pairs myself because I didn't found any the way I needed them.
Hmm I was just about to say that yeah most of them do, but I just realised that more DON'T wear shoes than DO. Wow, that's a revelation to myself, epic fail there... I have 2 anthro dogs who obviously don't and one hooved boy who again obviously doesn't. My two tinies don't either because one is a water spirit technically and the other is supposed to be very young so shoes aren't necessary. My only MSD also doesn't because again he's part water spirit/sprite and part Elf, shoes just aren't part of his nature. My current biggest boy also doesn't, because again it's mainly a cultural thing and he's very earthy and also a shapeshifter, he really prefers not to wear shoes. I actually only have 3 dolls that wear shoes... I need to rectify this... XD
My gang wear shoes more often than I do (which is only-when-I-have-to), but it depends on the situations and the outfit - they're mostly inhabitants of a Victorian-style nursery so shoes are appropriate to most of their outfits and situations, even the beach (http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f...meet Harlech May2013/IMG_0195_zpsc2ad5a49.jpg), although one of the "younger" members of the family is renown for losing at least one, if not both, of her shoes at every opportunity. Teddy
I haven't gotten my doll yet, but I doubt I'll get her shoes anytime soon. The shoes all look like they would make the feet look so huge...like a Kingdom Hearts Character.
My doll currently doesn't wear any shoes, just socks, but that's mainly because I never bothered buying her any as I see no point to yet. If I were to start taking her out and about I would then probably buy her some, but staying indoors I think she looks more comfortable(?)/natural in just socks.
LOL, I wear those! I have made slippers myself, but slippers don't look good with every style. :p Allthough, I am now highly tempted to make my msd boy wear fuzzy slippers xD
Rini wears shoes and she loves them to bits. Mind you it's a pain in the but to find nice ones that she likes.
My girls only wear shoes if I'm taking them somewhere or for photos otherwise they just wear socks or go barefoot when they're just sitting around. I think the slippers idea is really cute though, I might just do that!
As a guy, I'm generally satisfied with few shoes for myself; i.e. Work boots, Sneakers, Dress shoes, & sandals. ...but doll shoes consume a large portion of my BJD hobby resources. They make or break the final presentation of the whole. And I wish the shoe makers would provide more low to flat styles that most women choose to wear. So the dolls wear shoes unless they're attired in kimonos or swimsuits...and that wouldn't be the case if I could find the right footwear!
I have an obsession with doll shoes my wallet wishes otherwise.... So yes, the dolls here wear shoes.
Not all of my dolls wearing shoes. They are often a bit expensive and so I buy wigs or beautiful outfits for them instead of shoes.
I prefer bare feet, or shoeless with stockings. I think her feet are really cute (especially heel feet), and they just look like big doofy boats with shoes on. Seriously, why are all MSD shoes so big? Like. They are ALL too big. I have never even seen a pair that would come close to fitting the size doll they were supposedly made for, they're all a good 1cm too long. Even Iple shoes are too big for my Iple girl... Just... I don't even. Why :/
Haha, I wasn't going to reply to this thread since my boy's only current outfit is the company fullset, which includes shoes, and he wears it all the time, so yeah. But then I saw this post and I giggled a bit... I've actually been looking at several different shoes, and I found that my doll's foot length pretty much dictates he can't wear anything shorter than 6.5cm long shoes, which is kind of limiting. So I'm having exactly the opposite problem. X)
Oh I see! P: That's a first that I've encountered for MSDs. Hope you can find him some that fit c: I guess that's a bonus of fullsets, at least! It looks like my new DC guy is probably going to be shoeless too... He has an unusual foot size that's a little small for most SD girl shoes, and I feel like most boy shoes would look too big on his spindly wisp of a body. Sighhh it never ends.
All of my dolls wear shoes. Though there are times where I will take they're shoes off and then am to lazy to put them back on, so they stay bare footed till I stop being lazy.
If they're being stored, no, coz they stain. If I'm taking photos, then it depends on the setting. I do currently have 2 of my boys wearing some new boots to stretch them out.
My Sapphira has no shoes, sadly....but it's ok because I do prefer them naturally barefoot unless I'm posing them and they won't stand without them. However, when we remodeled our home they ended up wearing their outfits and shoes so they wouldn't get lost in the chaos! Nothing worse than losing/ misplacing expensive bjd clothes. >_< ESPECIALLY one shoe.
sometimes the shoe stain the resin, so i put light colored shoes, if not, i left them barefoot. kinda cute i guess! but i do left them with socks. kinda like they're not 'outside'. but inside home~
Yep, my dolls all wear shoes. It's a part of the full presentation (along with accessories). I even have slippers for when they wear a robe or pajamas.
I like their feet. They are so pretty. I haven't received my first one yet but I already know that she will be shoeless. She will wear ankle bracelets and probably I'll figure out a way to make barefoot sandals work. Eventually I'm gonna get a doll chateau doll and I want to make her a ballet dancer so I'll be on the search for ballet slippers when that time comes.
Some do, some don't. I'm still very much in the beginnings of the process of getting everyone outfitted out. My MSD's clothing and shoe needs are fairly well covered because I had a fair amount of stuff from other non BJD dolls that fit them pretty well. My SD's were not so lucky. I do have some basic sneakers and one pair of girly dress shoes for my SD girls that fit but my SD boys and girls are severely lacking in shoes, clothes in general, at the moment as I have not gotten to much in regards to their wardrobe needs as yet. I've a lot going on in real life. My Dad has had a rough year. He was involved in a bad accident in the Spring, he fell and hurt his head, and he's had some other rather serious health issues come up since besides. He's pretty much deaf now and half blind besides and now he may be very ill with something related to his lungs. It's been a sad mess of a year thus far, shrug. He's become more and more dependent upon me taking care of him over the last year or so and I've been so busy taking care of him that I just haven't gotten to doing as much with the dolls as I'd like to do. I haven't been feeling great myself besides for most of the year. Autoimmune disease. It's really been kicking my behind and Summer in particular it always makes me feel like heck. I don't like major heat. When I first started collecting BJD's I had this idea of maybe getting 2 or 3. I meant to outfit them all out within a few months and call it a day. But not quite a year and a half later I'm clearly in the throes of BJD addiction, laugh. I'm up to almost a dozen dolls, albeit inexpensive and mostly used ones, and I've done about 1/4 of what I plan to do with them all. Shoes are at the bottom of my list actually. I have way too much to do yet to worry about bare feet. I still have to get them all faced up, make clothing for the SD's, get 2 of the boys wigs, finish off paying for bodies for one boy and one girl and lastly find a replacement MSD head for my Miro boy body. To be fair most of them are wigged and have eyes now and are strung properly and most of my MSD's have their outfits chosen. But I still have tons of face ups to do and clothes to make before I'll even get to the shoes. It's never a really organized thing though outfitting my dolls. I do end up deviating from my plans sometimes, buying something I see and like and think I can use for later. So they might very well have shoes before I ever get the rest done, who knows?
