It looks more or less like the one in the picture. (I’m not quite sure how to insert images yet, so I just added the links down below. If enough people are interested, I might consider making a written tutorial. It doesn’t require any complicated tools—just some time and patience, and you can make it yourself. I’ve already successfully made three or four of these feather wigs. 885ecf0310b5912e3dd8f365aa48e6b — Postimages 28776eef324f86f926c8522937c67e1 — Postimages By the way, I just registered recently and still don’t know how to insert images, so I had to use image links for now. Could someone please show me how to insert images?
I think people would be interested - they are very unique! I'm not sure how to insert images from postimages. Maybe another user more familiar with that site does?
Hi there! Look here: /faq/how-do-i-add-an-image-to-a-post.59/ The faq (in the HELP menu above) is your friend. Also, the Newbieland subforum is a good place to ask, or to see if stuff has been asked and answered before. (It's in the COMMUNITY menu at the top of the site).
The wig is lovely! More tutorials are always great to see Sharing images from postimages is easy: you'll just need to click share and copy the "hotlink for forums" link into the text editor here and it will show up:
I would love a tutorial! Also if folks know where to buy feathers. I've bought various ones from AliExpress and also from a fabric store in person, but I don't think they're quite right. I'm hoping to make a white feather wig
OMG The white one is so gorgeous Yes, please make a tutorial on how to do them, I only seen one maker that can be commissioned for them I'm very interested to know how you make it stick together
@Serraphym - I recommend buying from Zucker Feather - I'm a retail Buyer for a living and our shop has been buying from them for decades. I've been planning on making a feather wig for one of my girls and was thinking of using either Goose Satinettes and/or Guinea Fowl Plumage and Rounds because I like the dotted pattern they have.
I would love a tutorial! Feather wigs are just lovely and I have always wanted to make one, just have no idea where ro even start.
I have made three feather wigs and they are so much fun! Your wigs are so gorgeous and styled nicely; I would love to see a tutorial and tips on making these.
How beautiful! Indeed a tutorial would be very appreciated, I'd love to give feather wigs a try one day
At the very least, I'd love to see more about that first wig; curling the feathers like that looks dazzling.
Hey, I’m bacl! Wow, I didn’t expect so many people to like it. Let me figure out how to insert pictures, and then I’ll make a detailed photo tutorial. Follow me so you can catch the updates! Trust me, it’s not that hard—most people can pick it up. [/QUOTE] Thank you! I’ll study it carefully, haha. The last time I made one was over ten years ago. I don’t have any goose feathers on hand now, so I can only demonstrate without real materials. But if you’re interested, you can try making one yourself! Materials & Tools: Small and medium goose feathers for practice; you can experiment with various types of feathers. (From memory, three small goose feathers are enough for a 1/3-scale wig.) Silicone wig cap Hot glue gun, scissors (Note: UHU glue and alcohol glue are not suitable for the method I’m describing!) Steps: Cut off the hollow roots of the goose feathers. For the lower layer, trim off the fluffy part. For the top layer, you can keep the fluffy part to cover seams. Run your fingernail along the feather shaft, pinch the feather tip, and let the feathers naturally curve toward the wig cap. Put the silicone wig cap on the head mold and secure it in place. Apply a thin layer of hot glue to the area where you’ll attach the feathers, then wait for it to dry. If it doesn’t stick well, peel it off and reapply. Apply glue to the feather roots and start attaching them in spirals, sticking 1–2 circles first. You can decide whether to use long or short feathers based on your needs. If short feathers don’t fit well, just trim them. Once the hot glue has dried, you can remove the feathers along with the silicone wig cap from the head mold. Then gently peel the feathers away from the wig cap — the feathers won’t fall off because the hot glue holds them securely. Thanks a lot! I think I’ve got it now. If anyone still needs a photo tutorial, I’ll be making another wig in the next couple of days and will attach the pictures then. I’ve got a few other tutorials too — once you’ve mastered this one, I’ll start a new tutorial thread. I’ve also got some tutorials on Roman curls, or I can show you how to sew kimonos. My grandma’s Japanese, so she showed me how to make traditional Japanese kimonos for dolls. If you’re interested, I’ll try to put together a tutorial that doesn’t need a big sewing machine, plus some clothing patterns. And if you run into any problems while making them, just ask me anytime! I really love chatting with everyone about all things BJD dolls, haha.
Oh my, the feather wigs are gorgeous! I would love to try to do one too, I hope you'll be able to do a tutorial with pictures
Sure, sure, I’ll send some process pics later. And if you manage to make it, don’t forget to show me your result This is Howl from Howl’s Moving Castle. I’ve already posted the tutorial, dear friends, so feel free to scroll down a bit. Actually, this was also a commission order I received, but I’m happy to share the tutorial so everyone can learn how to make it together. Hey guys, I’ve run into a new problem. I want to post some new tutorial videos, but I have no idea which section to put them in. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks a lot (Oh, and here’s a little share of my new Medusa diamond wig I just made)
You're amazing!! And you can add them to workshop and then Styling & Crafting or Tutorials section But I thank it just fine to use Styling & Crafting
What a cool idea, I have ducks so I could try using their feathers sometime. All process pics or info would be so welcome, it seems a lot of us are interested.
