I'm sorry to post this but I bought an Impldoll Iris from a UK seller called marsim_93 on 16th May. Their feedback is positive but they haven't bought or sold anything on eBay for over a year. The doll has been listed for a long time. I did a buy it now but since then there has been no contact from the seller and no sign that the item has been posted. I am wondering if they know that the item has sold. It seems a bit odd that they have had no ebay transactions for over a year. Does anyone know who they are or how I could contact them? I can get my money back from eBay but I would rather have the doll.
So, it's been three days since you purchased the doll? Honestly, I'd say that's a little soon to worry. I buy on ebay regularly. It's quite normal to have no contact from the seller and to wait a few days before it's posted. Ebay sends notifications and emails when an item is sold. So, I'm sure they'll know it's sold. I also don't find it odd that their feedback has nothing recent. I often forget to leave feedback for things on ebay and I often don't have feedback left either. I think people are more inclined to leave feedback when it's negative. Or they might not use ebay much. I'd give it a bit longer.
@Loganberry thank you. I'm sure you're right. I was just worried not to hear anything. I hope the seller is ok. I did send them a message and got no response, but I know that's not atypical either. I just hope they haven't disappeared into the wide blue yonder!
Hopefully you'll get a reply soon! It is annoying when sellers don't reply. I know it can be worrying, especially if it's expensive or something you really want. I don't know about you but I feel like ebay has changed so much just lately. This probably isn't relevant to your issue But it just feels like a very different place now. I really hope you get your doll soon and you love her!
i would give them seven days, or look now into what ebay says is okay to cancel. Like it youre able to cancel with ebay agreeing after 2 weeks or something then id just have to do that and send another message saying that due to lack of contact you will be cancelling (thats when you cancel) and that if they are around they can reply to contact you back to do a potential re-sale of the doll. honestly it is a bit odd to me that they wont reply, but likely hopefully they do see it quickly. how they see their notifications kinda depends on what they have, i know some of my ebay messages ended up in junk at times, but luckily im on mine frequently. Good luck but i would check out what the timeframe of being able to cancel with ebay stepping in is a good next step to have in your pocket. Otherwise, if you just cancel, the seller also has to approve it and if they are MIA then they cant ship/approve.
@Loganberry I think eBay has changed! They keep changing the rules and it's having some weird results. I rarely find much legit BJD stuff there. @onee-chan-taichou I will do. I think eBay says I can report it missing after 23rd May. But I was hoping to give the seller a heads up. C'est la vie!
The seller should have their shipping policies listed either in their profile on in the listing itself, just like in the Marketplace here. But it just sold on Friday. Post offices aren't open on Sundays in most places, and some aren't open Saturdays either. And it's likely they didn't see the sale until after they were closed Friday assuming they have a day job. Even if it's been listed for a while, they'd still need some time to get the doll packaged and shipping labels sorted. Ebay won't tell you it's shipped if they don't use ebay's system to create a shipping label (I know i often don't when I sell something). They'd have to load the tracking number in manually, which as far as I'm aware, doesn't send an alert to the buyer. It's a little odd they didn't reply to your message, but 3 days over a weekend really isn't a time frame i'd worry that they're scamming you. Ebay will send them reminders that the item has sold and needs to be shipped after 3 business days passed the time the item sold (or the number of days they gave in their listing as their shipping time have passed), and again after a week if they still haven't marked it as shipped.
I sell things from ot hobbies on ebay every now and then, and I agree with the points @quilleth made. From my experience as a seller, I have 3 business days (ie weekends not included) to send any sold items. Ebay sales can be pretty sporadic, especially with how high the fees are for sellers, but if the seller doesn't give you a tracking number by a week after you've bought the item, I'd contact ebay about it and open a dispute
@quilleth you're right that they might not use eBay's shipping method. They don't have any policies listed, presumably because they're a private seller. And you're absolutely right about the eBay reminders, I'd forgotten those! @castironteapot slightly OT question about eBay fees - they recently stopped charging insertion fees for private sellers but are they massive if you sell as a business? As mentioned, I am pretty sure this is a private seller, like me. I don't think it's a scam or anything, more like the seller went off and forgot! But it's good to hear reassurance from other eBay sellers.
It's also possible they went through some of their things, found a doll, then decided to list on eBay, then forgot they listed it. I sell on eBay every few years or so, and had an item I thought auto-expired, but it had been renewing for ages when someone reached out with an offer (I could not find said item and let them know, then removed the listing). It's possible their eBay is attached to an email they don't check frequently, so they may have not seen the item sold nor your message.
@thakyuki I'm sure that's right. I was worried that they might have forgotten about the listing because as you said, eBay will keep relisting them unless you stop them. It's too easy to forget stuff as well
@glass_mountain I don't know about business sellers, but as a private seller, I was still charged a 12.18% transaction fee plus Australian GST (goods and services tax, 10%) on something I sold last week. It winds up being pretty hefty, so I only really use ebay for things that I haven't been able to sell elsewhere, and know I'll only get pocket change for them
@castironteapot that's a pretty massive charge. For some reason in the UK they stopped charging insertion fees and final value fees. Though there are other less visible charges, like a "buyer premium". Ouch!
You could get in contact with eBay customer service and see if they have an alternative contact (phone, other email) for the seller on file - I would wait for at least a week for that but maybe worth pursuing as a last straw.
@cobaltconduct that's a good idea! I don't think I can report the doll missing until May 23rd, so I will try to contact customer service then.
