Does anyone have Paola Reina dolls

Jul 4, 2022

    1. I had never heard of them until I bought a YOSD outfit on Etsy which said it also fits Paola Reina dolls. I looked for them and they are super cute.
I don't know if I will get one for myself, but my sister in law admired my BJD YOSDs, but I don't want to spent over $100 for a doll for her. The Paola Reina I looked at was $50, which I would spend on a gift for her.
I found a Paola Reina which looks exactly like my sister in law did when she was a child, so I'm thinking of maybe getting her one for Christmas.

What can someone tell me about them?

    2. I have two of them, both were fairly cheap off amazon because they came either nude or in a very simple little set of pjs.
They smell of vanilla which is quite pleasant.

    3. I have been tempted by them, to customize their faces, as I feel they are pretty cute. I am not a fan of child dolls however, and it seems their "official" USA retailer has them for four times their retail in Spain. However, getting them directly from there would cost an arm and a leg due to shipping, so I have been able to keep myself from getting one. I have always been a bit hesitant to import stuff from Europe due to shipping/delivery issues close friends of mine have gone through, so I was kind of excited when I found a dealer here in the USA, but a bit turned off when I saw what they want to offer them for. If I could find just their heads or knew they could be rebodied onto more mature bodies, I would be in huge trouble -- I just really want to repaint one (it's kind of frustrating, because that's how I hoard dolls I don't actually "need/want"). 4. I was looking for my next doll type to get in to and I was looking at Paola Reina dolls. I was planning on getting it repainted and getting an articulated body. I wanted one or more because a lot of doll seamstresses make clothes and shoes for the size and accessories for common play dolls would work so they would be easy to shop for.

Darak-i makes bodies and parts, Raccoon Doll makes bodies, parts, and even same size “friends” that are really cute too. While I was still planning I remembered bjd and I realized a custom Paola Reina would be comparable in price to bjd so I went with bjd and I’m glad I did.

@Enzyme, I’ve never seen just the heads for sale, at least through a US source so I guess you’d have to buy the regular body with the doll and change the body. I can’t imagine how many of the basic bodies have been thrown away or are laying around in storage from people who have customized them.

    5. Oh I will add, if you go the amazon uk route, be aware that the seller doesn't make it clear what's "just clothing" and what's a doll. If the picture is of a nude doll then it's just the doll but do read the reviews and all info carefully for anything else.

    6. PaolkaStore - Etsy
This Etsy shop sells them for the non-inflated prices and only charges $10.40 for shipping per doll. The ones wearing just undies are around $42.

    7. I have several of these dolls (all custom dolls). I got them just because they were a cheaper option to the Effner Little Darling dolls (which I really wanted) and the awesome clothing that many etsy sellers make. I love the size. None of mine are on the articulated body though so I can't give any info on those. The faces are darling and the clothes are fantastic with a very wide range of prices to fit any budget. Here's just a few

    8. That's what I thought, I don't feel these are designed to be customized or modified in that way. They are more likely than not, intended for children (much like Disney's Animator's Dolls), with a certain level of "customizability." Without the rebodying and repainting parts, that are what I mostly do with most of the toys I customize, outside of BJD (except for dolls that have decent level of articulation, or decent/to-my-taste proportions). I like their faces, but not their bodies. If they were a bit more like "collectors" pieces, or like the Disney's Animators, I would look into getting one just to own one (w/out unboxing nor customizing). However, I think they don't come in "fancy" boxes, by default from what I have seen on eBay. I can live without them, unless I do see a head-only option somewhere, from a legit source. (:

    9. I agree, I see them like American Girl Wellie Wishers, definitely a play line doll.

    10. I ordered one doll directly from Spanish Amazon a while ago. I like her, she is a cutie. They are definitely play dolls, well made up to good standards. When buying make sure you are buying the doll, not the clothes - look at shipping weight, if it is too light, it is a clothes set, not a dressed doll. Mine was wearing undies, it came in a clear bag. I love her.

    11. Hi, everyone! I'm sure that these are familiar to some of our European friends but I've just recently discovered the Paola Reina brand and am absolutely smitten. :D

They have a variety of sizes (ranging from 21 to 60 cm) but I only own the 12"/32 cm Las Amigas line so far.

Here's my tiny crew of kiddos. I love their faces and inset eyes. :)

A fair word of warning that these dolls come smelling strongly of vanilla! It's not unpleasant but if you have sensory issues, I suggest that you buy secondhand or skip this brand.

I was able to find these dolls for sale on Etsy, where I imported two full dolls from Poland and a nude doll that came from in the US. The two full dolls (the curly haired girls above) were definitely the scent-iest but the girl I bought "loose" doesn't smell like vanilla much at all.

I only have the unarticulated line of Las Amigas though I know that there is a line with joints.

I haven't been able to find measurements for the Las Amigas dolls but I might just take them myself to figure out if they can share with any BJDs.

    13. Oh wow! That's so cool. I'll have to keep those in mind.

Thanks for the links! It's amazing that these dolls have this kind of international following.

    14. Oh yes I am a huge fan of paola reina dolls to my mind they are the best of all commercial type dolls sold on stores and sturdy as nothing else , I have 2 soy tu , 7 las reinas and 10 amigas and plan for more according to spare money of course I'm enamored they are both cute and quality dolls , kids love them too and I swear even after the harshest play one can just brush the hair and everything looks just fine!!!

    15. I am from Greece and they are in stores here , I have plenty of each size I can guarantee they worth every penny and are the cutest childlike dolls ever, perfect non toxic material ,sturdy with thick hair amazing clothes and recently they got articulation even in amigas size , personally I am a hardcore fan!!! I mean only littlefees can compare in cuteness in my mind. If you find a way to buy them don't hesitate hope they'll soon be more available outside europe too. Only one thing beware of some chinese imitations on ebay/aliexpress etc cause as you guested it some people made recasts of them of lower quality , the originals are made in Spain if they are made in china they are copies.

    16. I have several Las Amigas and they are a great size to knit and sew for, but the earlier ones only had five joints. The newer articulated versions are better for posing and photographing. I'm in Australia and I bought mine directly from PR. The shipping from Spain was much cheaper than I expected.
BTW The names on the PR site for International outlets are distributors not retailers.

    17. Yes, I have the early dolls then, I guess. I haven't been able to find pics of the newer dolls' articulation. What joints do they have?

    18. There are a large number of them on Ebay, plus there are a few doll shops in the US that carry them. If you do a search I'm sure you would be able to find one - I know Samantha's doll shop carries them I think the shop in in Wisconsin, but not sure about the location

    19. The new ones are referred to on the PR website as articulated and have additional joints at the elbows and knees. :)
