ordering my too and bee without faceups did not stress me out yesterday but it was bothering me today (just for a few minutes) then i looked around the forum and i see quite a few faceup changes here and there so i stopped worrying. i guess what bothers me is that if i do the makeup and seal it, doesn't whatever i have to use to unseal it harm the resin at all? if i don't seal it, won't it rub off easily? the price of these dolls makes me really worried about permanently messing one up.... which i've done before on some of my other dolls... particularly with their hair as none of my other dolls have had removable wigs. i guess i need reassurance that i won't destroy a doll by changing her makeup now and then. and why do you call it face up?
ive redone faceups several times.. but if you use acetone you just be sure to wash the head with some soapy water to make sure all the acetone is off before you seal the resin. I've seen people who have reodne it 5+ times, and they had no problems..
Me, I can't leave them alone! I need to change their looks, including face-ups. I'm happy, but want to try something else Then again, this is one strong reason why I fell in love with bjds, you can do that kind of stuff. Seems like the perfect choice for you too. So, don't worry, you can do that. And yes, if you don't seal your face-up, it might come off if rubbed.
Faceup is the term used by Japanese doll owners, so we've borrowed it ^^ Hence the reason why it doesn't quite makes sense, lol. ~Megan
I've redone my MSD's face many times, every time without a base coat of sellant or a sealant on top. I've never had a problem with staining, and if you don't take your doll outside a lot you don't really have to worry about it rubbing off too much. I did some blushing with chalk pastels that eventually would rub off as I played with her, but I'd just reapply it like makeup ^^;
I've changed Kyan's makeup several times in the short time I've had her...her lips have been fire-engine red and pink and right now are more natural. I haven't been sealing it, either. No problems. AZ
do you have to detach the head to wash off the makeup or can you just use a damp face cloth? i shouldn't be getting so excited about this... i fear i have a LONG wait as i just ordered my too and bee yesterday! UGH!
I've never taken her head off...yet. I use nail polish remover, cos I do gloss her lips with clear nail polish. Then I kind of wash her face with a damp wash cloth. AZ
I redo Cayenne's faceup a lot... {scene in Doll and Hobby store in which I'm talking to that nice lady that works there} Lady: [something about how some girl who visits the store changes her doll's face-up a lot] Me: Yeah, I change my doll's face a lot too...but she's had this one for a couple months or so, I think... My Mom: Sweetie, you've only had the doll for 4 weeks. Me: I have no concept of the passage of time....
Lewis has not been home a month and I've given him faceups twice.. I use chalk pastels, watercolour pencils and watercolour which is easy to remove compared to acrylics, and to get the coating and gloss off nail polish remover is enough for me. ^^ I take his head off (poor fella has to sit around with a pen stuck in the elastic for a day or so) and rinse it thoroughly under the tap several times between wiping with nail polish remover and after I'm done cleaning. Unsealed faceups should stay on all right unless you play with them a lot. ^^ And I guess you don't have to take the head off unless you're going to spray sealant on.
I redid Ashling's face like crazy after I wiped off the one he came with, only because I was dissatisfied with how he looked. Luckily, it was fun to paint him, so I didn't mind doing it every other night or so. :3;; Zoi no Miko eventually redid his face for me, and I couldn't be happier. I have no thoughts of changing his face anymore.
the only problems I've has with redoing Ghaleon or Andesha's faces, and I paint them a LOT, is that sometimes their faces get really slick from the acetone. Then I just use a very fine grade of sandpaper to "rough" the skin again. I typically only seal a face up if I really really really like it. Which... I think I've only really really really liked two face ups I've done and they're the current ones!
i redo faceups ALOT! like more than 100+ times..lol ok maybe just 50 or so...either i'm not satisfied, satisfied but the make up fades or i just wanna try new things. My syo still looks good tho. i guess it's ok to do alot of face ups...X_X
