      Did you participate in the big DoA birthday swap last year? I did, and it was some of the best fun I’ve had in my whole doggie life! I had so much fun, I thought I’d give it a whirl this year too!

      This year, we’re going to be having a Shadow Swap! The theme is “Keeping the Nighttime Shadows at Bay!” In other words, nighttime can be scary…Your swap partner needs some gifts to make nighttime a good time! You can make, buy, piece together, or otherwise construct a present for your swap partner’s doll that is something unique or normal, pyjamas or teddy bears or doll scale closet monster weapons. Be creative!

      How to Play:

      1. Choose a doll to participate. You may choose only one doll of your own to play.
      2. While registration is open, fill out this form (SIGN UP CLOSED). Please do not PM me with this information; I'm just one little dog and my PM box will get much too full.
      3. You will receive a PM from me, Truffle, with information about your swap partner.
      4. By August 16, please get your swap present into the mail.
      5. When you receive your present, please post a picture of your doll enjoying his or her new gift to the thread I post. Don’t worry; I’ll link it here. http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showthread.php?464239-Gallery-for-Shadow-Swap


      Rules:

      :chocoberryAll DoA members who wish to participate must have Marketplace access and be in good standing. Forum staff may also participate.

      :chocoheartPlease play nicely and make sure that no one is empty handed. If you don’t think you’ll have time to complete the game, do not sign up. I don’t want any unhappy dolls because someone was too irresponsible to send out their gift. If you do not send out your gift, you will receive negative feedback and be barred from other DoA contests and events in the future. I was a very sad pup last year to find out some people did not play fair.

      :truffleThis is an international swap, meaning that anyone from any country may join. This also means that you may receive a partner in any country. You may not request a swap partner in your own country. You get who you get! If you are unwilling to mail items to another country, please don’t sign up.

      :whitetruffleGive a gift that you would like to receive. When I say ‘unique,’ I don’t mean ‘junk.’ Please keep in mind quality and scale when choosing the perfect present. Try to think in the $10-$15 range. If members send out substantially lower priced gifts, they may also receive negative feedback. Please don’t send an envelope with dollar store barrettes.

      :chocoberryDon’t forget to include something that says who you are! And when you receive your gift, make sure you say ‘thank you’ in a PM.

      Timeline:


      July 13-17: Member sign up! Entries received after July 17 will be disregarded.

      July 18-20: You’ll be assigned your swap partner. Please be patient! It’s tough to type with these little paws!

      August 16: Happy Birthday, Den of Angels! This is the deadline to have your shadow gift mailed to your swap partner.

    4. Truffle, will like sized-dolls be matched in the swap? For example, if I enter an SD size doll, will my swap partner also be an SD size doll, or is it totally random?

    5. It would be a lot of work for me to make sure everyone had like-sized dolls for swap, especially if we have as many entries as we did last year. I will try, but I can't promise, so it would be best to assume that it's random.

    30. As soon as you have your gift ready for your swap partner, you can send it off! I know that some swappers will be getting international friends, so if we want everyone to have a gift in August, it's probably best to get stuff in the mail as soon as it's ready, rather than waiting until the last minute.

    45. no they are differnt people.. at least last year they were.. example person A got person B, but person B has to send a gift to person G and person G sends a gift to person Y, and person Y sends a gift to person A...

      so really you have no idea whom your getting your gift from, the only sure thing is whom -your- senting to...

      anyway i have ideas! which i hope they like! luckly i got the same size as i have dolls of so it should be easy! but i also feel i need to do something simalar as i did last year since well i have this special place and it has all this really cool stuff..

    47. Yup! To clarify, Arlais got it just right. The only thing you know is the name of the person you're sending a gift to. The person sending to you is a mystery! MYSTERY! (I love mysteries! Like, I'm already wondering what my owners are getting me for my birthday...)

    51. Woohoo! I am looking forward to all the reveal pictures. I've already gotten the information and have started crafting. There will be very little buying, just supply type stuff. I hope my swap partner loves her stuff. Her doll's personality is pretty entertaining, actually, so it wasn't hard coming up with overlap between that and the theme. :)

There wasn't a whole lot of information about what type of items my swap partner's dollie would like, so did a little stalking of my swap partner's posts here. ^^; But now I have a much better idea of what style of item to make and what colors to use! <3 Feeling alot better about it now. :) Although the fit might be a little big since I don't have a dollie that size & gender. >.<

    59. I didn't mean the price. I mean the amount. 1, 2, 3, or 20? What if I send 1 thing worth $150? ^^ What if I send 10 things worth $15? Is that allowed? Or do we have limits? Sorry, a newbie question since this is my first swap. ^^ I'm going to make the items myself. Do I price them myself?

    60. The price given is just a guideline. If you want to go over, that's your choice. The price range is the total for all things sent. :) If you're making them yourself, you value them yourself and I'm sure you'll figure out if they're a good match.
