Special Event DoA Birthday Swap!

    1. Who doesn’t like getting presents, whether it’s your birthday or not? But it’s better to give than to receive, right? So…wait. Am I giving or getting? I’m a puppy! This is confusing!

      Too many human adages…let’s just stick with what we have. Presents are good. You with me? You want some?

      We’re going to be having a Birthday Swap! That way you can give AND receive and maybe make some new friends while you’re at it. The theme is the swap is “Just What I’ve Always Wanted!” You can make, buy, piece together, or otherwise construct a present for your swap partner’s doll that is something very unique, maybe a little weird. Something so amazingly bizarre that they didn’t even know they wanted it!

      How to Play:


      1. Choose a doll to participate. You may choose only one doll of your own to play.
      2. Fill out this form! Please do not PM me with this information, I'm just one little dog and my PM box will get much too full.
      3. You will receive a PM from me, Truffle, with information about your swap partner
      4. By the appointed date, please get your birthday present into the mail.
      5. When you receive your present, please post a picture of your doll enjoying his or her new gift to the thread


      Rules:


      :chocoberry All DoA members who wish to participate must have Marketplace access and be in good standing. Forum staff may also participate.

      :chocoheart Please play nicely and make sure that no one is empty handed. If you don’t think you’ll have time to complete the game, do not sign up. I don’t want any unhappy dolls because someone was too irresponsible to send out their gift. If you do not send out your gift, you risk receiving negative feedback and being barred from other DoA contests and events.

      :truffle This is an International swap, meaning that anyone from any country may join. This also means that you may receive a partner in any country. You may not request a swap partner in your own country. You get who you get! If you are unwilling to mail items to another country, please don’t sign up.

      :whitetruffle Give a gift that you would like to receive. When I say ‘quirky,’ I don’t mean ‘junk.’ Please keep in mind quality and scale when choosing the perfect present. Try to think in the $10-$15 range.

      :chocoberry Don’t forget to include something that says who you are! And when you receive your gift, make sure you say ‘thank you’ in a PM.

      Timeline:


      July 1-9: Member sign up! Entries received after July 10 will be disregarded.

      July 10-15: You’ll be assigned your swap partner. Please be patient! It’s tough to type with these little paws!

      August 16: Happy Birthday, Den of Angels! This is the deadline to have your birthday present mailed to your swap partner.

    4. I would love to participate, but since I'm quite new I'm a bit nervous about this... is there any examples of gifts so I could get an idea of what is appropriate ? Maybe examples from a previous swap ? :sweat

    5. This is a first time thing, so there are no examples yet. :) We want swap partners to use their imaginations. For this one, looking for neat, unique things that would make cool birthday presents, always keeping in mind the scale (so no giant eraser sushi for Yo-SDs, for example). Funky hats, maybe, cool accessories, local specialities! The possibilities are endless!

    29. Maybe I missed this in the rules but, will our swap partner have the same size doll as we do? While I have most sized dolls, I don't have any tinies like pukipuki size or any dolls larger than a regular SD size, so there's no way I'd know what to do for say someone with an EID size doll or really a pukipuki for that matter because I don't have anyone here to use as a model or anything.

    30. There is no rule about who gets whom, though Truffle will try not to get anyone too mixed up. This isn't necessarily a clothing swap, remember; you can do props and other things that you could do from measurements.

    46. What a fun idea "Truffles"! I've just signed up too! :) In listing out the other dolls I have in my collection, I realized I've got a really wide range of sizes now...Volks SD13 Boy right down to FL Pukipuki! Can't wait to see who I'm matched with! :)

    47. When I mentioned my dolls I forgot my new commer. She won't be here until sometime in August but I will have a yo size doll as well. gosh I have just about every size if you count my daughters MSD. I guess they are like potato chips. One just aint enough.
