Sorry...I can't find any reference to this question anywhere. Many thanks for any help with this - I want to go spray my head!
I shake it lots.... mixes the dryer in with the other stuff.. seperates when sitting around. Just liek house paint..
I have a VAGUE feeling some cans of sprays say shake for one minute.... the rattling you hear when you shake is like little ball bearing things.. they put them in there just to mix the paint when you shake. I saw your other q's.. and I actually hold the head when i am spraying and I sort of wave that about while waving the can about too.. that way nothing gets over sprayed. I don t seem to get much on my hand that is holding the head. But then i dont care about getting dirty .. but I LOVE to get clean. And remember after you are finished to hold the can upside down and spray till just air comes out (takes maybe a second or so) - you dont want to clog the nozzle for next use.
I'm so glad you saw that other question! Thank you! And I had no idea about clearing the nozzle, so that's a big help. I've made a thing that holds the head while I turn it in my hand, so we'll see how that works. I'm also going to spray two pair of hands, and I haven't figured that out yet....guess I have to hang them from something. I'm going to give it about a 1/2 hour between coats to dry... Very exciting, all of this! My neighbors are going to get such a kick out of seeing me in a respirator, spraying a head! I have to wear one because I have such awful upper respiratory issues. Better safe than sorry! But I look insane in it!
When I used to airbrush composition bodies (very similar to ball jointed bodies) I used fine wire and made little hangers and hung them all out on a clothes airer - or a clothes line if you have one? Just need to bend the wire a bit like butchers hooks.. long enough and then you can hold the wire and easily hang it on something when you are done (without having to touch the body bits). Dont know if you can get the visual of that. Easier than finding chop stick or similar and something to poke them into.. like oasis floral aranging stuff. And the 'balls" of compostion bodies were seperate - so chop sticks no good for that. Looks pretty good all these body bits hanging on the line .. I usually did quite a few bodies at once as I used an airbrush to colour and spray can varnish sealer to finish.. and wasnt worth the cleaning etc doing just one. Have fun! I am going to do wigs tomorrow as I want my kids all presentable.. sick of them being just naked! Love to take some group photos but they need to be "ready". All I do is think about these BJD's these days. Like it 1am here and I and still thinking about solving all the little sewing or wigmaking or whatever problems!!! And I figure my Dreaming Shiwoo.. who is NOW called Stephan.. needs a body BADLY.. but no money .. but i also figure instead of biuying a body from Luts for 430.00.. I might get an El for $500 and they can share a body till I can afford another. that way I can have BOTH my boys for just an extra $70!
Now that's a great idea! Two for the price of one, really... I'm thinking I need a BW El, but it must wait...car repairs and Sakaki joining the family kind of killed my spending for awhile! I know what you mean...all I think about is working on my dolls...clothes for my dolls...wigs, shoes, toys, posing...it's endless! I really should be doing a job search! :>) Have you noticed that EVERY time you spray this stuff, you find a new and different tiny little filliment of hair or dust that showed up from somewhere? It's making me crazy! I had to dig out two pieces of whatever already, and I really only want to spray one more time (3rd), because even with the respirator I'm getting a headache from the stuff! One pair of hands ended up being coated with a whole clump of dirt! Where the heck did it come from?! I had to acetone them down and wash them. They'll have to wait for another day... GACK! This stuff is awful... Have to come up with a better strategy for this, I guess...
I do notice that - grrrrr! I think it must be airborn particles that land just after you spray, while the MSC is still wet. I usually scrape them out with a sharp scalpel after it's dry and make sure those area's get covered when I re-spray. Ofcourse when the dusted area has already been blushed... I just choose to ignore it, not worth scraping it out then. - Therese
hI~~~ I'm sorry if this question sounds extremely stupid, but are we supposed to spray MSC before or after the make up is applied? Are the Volks limited edition dolls already sprayed? Thank yoU~~^_^
Guest: both before and after. Also in between each stage/layer. LE dolls... no actually all dolls that come pre-painted should be sprayed by the company before they are sold and shipped. Usually only the face is sprayed, not the body. Volks offers spraying and sanding service at an additional fee when you buy a doll from them. - Therese
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG, EVERY time!! ...just one little thingy & and it's NEVERr on the back of the head, always where it can be seen  I have some needle point tweezers that I use to lightly scrape off any tiny particles that appear - works great!
