Do you kiss your dolls?

I am a serial doll smoocher. Do not let me hold your cute doll if you do not want it smooched.

 

Haha I've been known to give a little smooch in the head every now and again. Sometimes they just look so good you have to do it! When the faceup is complete, the outfit is better than you invisioned, and not a hair out of place on the wig??

 

This is a fun topic I don't kiss them at all (I think my cat needs too many top of head kisses for there to be any left over) but I do pat them on top of the head sometimes which I find very satisfying

 

Sometimes! Since I use chapstick often, I only kiss their heads directly when I haven't put any on. Usually I would have to already be handling them, which isn't too often as I just keep them on display on a shelf. Most of the time, however, I'll kiss my fingers and then lightly pat their heads for an indirect kiss

 

I tend to pat them and praise them. All my kissed go into my cats, who I am sure would rather have me kiss the dolls haha

Yes! I kiss their little foreheads, pat the top of their heads, brush their cheeks, hold their little hands, give them big hugs... I am such a cuddler LOL.

 

I don't personally do that, I am not a physically affectionate person. The only ones I've ever kissed and huged are my cats, and I still do so of course. I never liked touching other people nor being touched by others. I don't like holding my plastics toys for prolonged periods of time. I am a germaphobe, so kissing them would be gross to me, and I would have to wipe them with stuff that would more than likely ruin the paint. I just never felt that need nor desire to do so.


I don't see it as weird that other people want to do so, I have read people being physically affectionate to their dolls quite often. I just happen to be a huge weirdo. (:

 

I don't handle my dolls all that much at the moment, I'm too busy finishing all their customization and clothes. And all my dolls at the moment are 45cm so I'm not sure if I'll ever kiss them, I feel like there's not enough head space lol. But I can see myself eventually kissing one of the larger dolls I'm getting.

 

I do! But only if I'm not wearing lipstick/gloss/balm, and only on top of the head, not directly on the resin. They also get lots of cuddles and hugs.

I do! I kiss them on the cheek mostly, but sometimes I try to kiss their tiny noses. I like just holding them too. I've put a lot of work into them, and they're gonna get snuggled!

Gosh, no way. (Why would I ever want to kiss plastic toys? ) I don't hug my dolls either - the thought never even crossed my mind until someone mentioned it in the BJD Discord server I was in. I found it such a strange notion that I polled the server... and was astonished to find that quite a few people indeed hug their dolls! I'm not a cuddly type at all, so that may be why.

I do like touching my dolls' heads though, and changing their poses a little bit whenever I walk past. And contemplating their faces. I can lose hours just staring into their eyes and faces.

 

I am more likely to blow them kisses than actually put my lips on them... though depending on which wig Vince is in, he's suffered the odd smooch.

I hug them mostly like my plushies, but an occasional kiss in the top of the head every full moon or something

 

I just like to hold them on my lap, pat their heads and hold their hands! A kiss seems a bit too dirty/oily ? to me. Maybe if their wig isn't specially styled I could see a kiss on the top of the head, so long as there's no lip balm lol

 

I honestly cannot recall a time i've kissed any of my bjds but I have smooched a reborn doll or two on the cheek. I don't think it's strange if people choose to do so or not to do so.

I'm not much of a smoocher but I do pat them! My favorite thing to do have them hold my hand (or really just a finger) while they sit on my desk while I'm working at it.

 

I have never thought of kissing my dolls before. I usually wear creams or chapstick as my skin is very dry so I avoid any contact with my face.
I hold their hands and style their hair as a sign of affection.

 

I do like to hold their hands and occasionally I stroke their cheek very gently, but I don’t kiss them (I talk to them, and apologise if I am changing their clothes!)

 

Yes! Especially the little child ones, they are just so darn cute! I like to kiss the tops of their little heads, poke their little noses, and give them hugs. I also give them little toys to hold. The bigger ones, I just kind of pet their heads, they are older and don't need as much cuddles and attention.

 

I love giving my dolls a little kiss on the head, they are so cute and lovely it is a necessity!

What a fun question . I occasionally stroke my dolls' hair on top of their head, but don't give kisses. I can understand why other people do it though. Some of them are so cute, aren't they

Kisses, head pats, cuddles, hugs and even nose boops my dolls get them all. Sometimes I see them sitting so cute I just stop and sigh with contentment then boop their noses asking how they could be so cute!

 

one time while putting one of my dolls back on the shelf after changing her clothes I spontaneously gave her a hug and kissed the top of her head. but, I don't regularly kiss or hug my dolls. I was feeling a lot of stress at the time, and just needed to give my doll a hug.

When I bump into them or make them fall, yes, I do kiss them on the top of their heads But it's very rare.

I've smooched the tops of their heads, on their wigs. Not all of them, though. Only some of them, when I'm feeling particularly sentimental about them.

My first boy didn't have shoes for the first few months I had him, and when I first put shoes on him, I smooched the soles of his cute little feet. I still think Volks SD13 boys have the nicest shaped feet.

I don’t do it with all of my dolls, just with the one that I love the most.
However, I do not do it often, it is something I do rarely as I do not hold my dolls often.

 

It's something I've never really thought about doing myself, but I wouldn't consider it strange. Personally, I don't tend to show affection towards my resin crew. They show it enough amongst themselves to compensate for it.

In general, I'm not really a physically affectionate person. Like others, my cat is an exception. Cats just seem to have that affect on people, don't they?

 

Totally. Kisses in the hair, pats, hugs, nose boops... the whole catalog of affection. That kind of thing is my love language so it's only natural that I do it to my dolls, to which I tend to form a strong bond (I get very attached to my most personal belongings). I always wash my hand before holding them so I think it should be safe for the resin.

 

I wouldn't recommend it, because urethane/polyurethane is vulnerable to weak acids such as body fluids. If you do, make sure your lips are very dry and clean it off quickly.

I don't kiss them, but I hug them sometimes.

 

I kiss them on their little heads (I try to aim for the wig), their hands, and sometimes their little feet. I also will pick out a couch buddy if I'm having a bad week (that chronic illness life).

 

Guilty and hugs, but I don't make contact. I more or less kiss their wig. I'm already weird, and I might as well keep the ball rolling.

I've always kissed and gently handled all my toys and childhood dolls. i can't imagine it being any different when my first girl comes home! Her wig will always be mussed from my kisses.

 

It’s not THAT weak though. Honestly even if you slobbered all over your doll it’s not gonna dissolve(not the face up though) Unless the doll was made with poor quality, like a recast.

@Karabee This is true, one kiss won't affect that much. It's more of a cumulative thing. That's why urethane isn't used in medical devices, or why if you leave a urethane part outside and it rains, the acid in the rain could leave a little pitting on the surface of the part. You can avoid the cumulative damage by just being slightly extra cautious.

No. I don't see them as real, or imagine them to be anything but expensive art. I display them to admire their esthetics. Kissing them would make me feel quite weirded out as an adult. But that's me.

No. Kissing resin productions is kinda weird to me.

 

I definitely have and probably will continue to kiss my dolls! It’s kinda a comfort thing at this point Also they’re so nice to hug!
