    3. @K-2! I'm always amazed by how expressive your girls look in these photostories. I love how lifelike Kizuna looks when she sneaks towards the poor sleeping Cheeto and flips the pillow over. It's strange how I can almost imagine these dolls moving by themselves and having a life of their own, although now that I think about it, that would be too freaky...

@MrFjmg2003 Panchita looks as gorgeous as ever. I love the outfits she wears and how they're always colourful and full of patterns :D

The apparel sets appear to have changed a little again - the plain white logoless tee is far more useful in my eyes and the necklace has interested me since it first appeared :)
I see the tea versions of Mirai and Kizuna are now up on the Smart Doll site (Finally! - now I don't have to decide between getting Mirai or a tan girl!) and Twilight has a sales page ready to go! Wonder when cocoa Moonlight will appear, I really like the photos I've seen of her so far. I'm going to pick up a tea or cocoa skin girl this year (let's face it - it'll be both in the end ) since it'll make them distinctly different from my semi-white Dollfie Dream girl, plus more skin tones is the best thing about Smart Doll for me.
There's a whole load of new clothes up too that I love, but damn, still can't quite make myself shell out for them :|

    4. I'm so easily pleased lol :whee: Got a reply from Danny on a couple of comments I made on his site and it really made my evening haha. Can't wait to see more of the new boy on Tuesday... He still didn't tell me what his name was though :wiggle Hey i took a chance and asked ;)

    5. Any news on the Spike Spegal Smart Doll?

    6. Just that the release will be released sometime this year. He's still in the prototype stage as far as I'm aware.

    7. Thanks! Smart Dolls are amazing for posing, almost as good as the 50cm Obitsu. It really makes it very easy to make them come to life.

My girls have some Smart Doll clothes. They are a bit on the pricey side, but the quality and fit is amazing.

    8. I have 2 smart dolls a Crimson and a Mirai. I can not wait for spike to be released!!

    9. I think this year is going to be an exciting year for smart doll! So many new sculpts and new characters! Seems like alot of people are especially excited for moonlight and all the new male dolls!

I'm going to finally get a make doll this year! Waiting to see what lelouch looks like, but if not I'm definately definitely getting one his other new boys! They look great!

    10. I've seen a lot of people say that the clothes are brilliantly made. I think once I actually have a Smart Doll, it'll be easier to persuade myself to pick up some of the clothes. Not sure if I'm going to get the basic camisole or apparel set yet since I can't say I'm particularly fussed with the corduroys or the loafers, but I'm going to make sure she has a complete outfit at the very least. Roll on March!

2017 is definitely looking interesting for Smart Doll! Can't wait to see the new sculpts once people start posting photos of them, and although male dolls aren't really for me, the new boys look pretty good. I'm hoping that Moonlight hasn't changed too much from her prototype photos - I liked Twilight when I saw the first pictures of her, but now I'm not so sure :huh?:

I'm going to wait until March as Mirai should be discounted then - I'm hoping that includes her tan version too - and then I will finally own a Smart Doll. Because I've been procrastinating for at least a year and I don't want to waste yet more time just thinking about getting one. Turns out it IS possible to have too much choice...

The Mirais help me out with therapy every so often, and, as kids play much rougher than I do, things tend to slip around. I had to attach one arm, redo Mirai #1's eyes several time, and put wigs back on countless times. Mirai #2's wig is a little unstyled now, but they're relatively fixed up.
But what's that, you say? Why are you talking about Mirai #1 and Mirai #2? When did you get a second one? You can find that out right here!

    12. omg i just found this thread!!! i thought smartdolls were a banned topic on this forum website?

I have 2 beautiful girls Asuna (Mirai) and Kizuna I love them so much!!! I think i want them all!!!

    13. Technically yes, Smart Dolls are off topic on DoA. But this topic is in the Brigadoon forum for Off-Topic Chat: This mysterious and elusive forum appears during special events! Posts made here do not count toward your post count. Keep it classy, normal DoA rules apply.
Brigadoon can be dissolved at any moment. So enjoy it while it lasts.

    14. So has there been anything said about pocket dolls or nano dolls? I had a full size smartdoll but couldn't bond sadly, I hope though to enjoy the nanodoll.

    15. I heard they were put on hold to work in the licensed dolls. That was disappointing. I love these dolls, but they are too big for me. I've been holding out for the small ones.

    16. Guess I'll put my money towards a MSD then ;-; pity. But he gotta do what makes the money.

    17. Great photostory @aliasmedalis! How you've shown the transfer is really clever. And Tea Mirai looks so adorable :D - not that she wasn't before!
Agh, it makes me even more impatient for March to come around! Super tempted to give in and order her now, but I'll kick myself if/when she gets discounted. At least February is the shortest month!

    18. My Kizuna celebrated her first birthday on Feb 1st. Time sure flies!

    19. I have Ivory, Kizuna and Julia is on Layaway. I also have a small fortune in clothes, lol
      [IMG]

    20. I hear that! I pretty sure I've spent more on doll clothes than on my personal wardrobe over the past 10 years. My Kizuna and Chitose are seeing to that.

    21. I don't have any Smart doll, maybe one day... I really like Chitose :)

    22. Now I feel like having one

    23. @K-2! Those Dollmore boots look VERY nice on Chitose; I love how they make the Smart Doll legs look even longer than they already are. I'm kind of surprised Kizuna didn't nab them for herself actually! Oh and come April, I will be fully expecting an easter-themed photostory featuring bunny suits! :XD:

Oh, aaand... my first Smart Doll is officially on her way! :whee:
I was browsing Mandarake last week and found an Ebony with the original blue jeans/green t-shirt apparel set and some of the extra hand parts (she's missing the default wig but that isn't a problem). She cost me less than a new camisole-only Ebony would have done, and the shipping was cheaper too, so the money saved can go towards some clothing instead :)
She's currently stuck in customs at the moment, so i'm hoping she'll get here some time next week.

    25. Well, it was a good try I suppose!

Only a couple of hours in customs? Wow, I could only dream of such speed! :XD: Luckily UK customs seems to be on top of things at the moment, and the delivery company remembered to tell me that I have fees to pay, so Ebony should be delivered tomorrow.
Now I just have to hope that she actually DOES get delivered and that I don't need to start phoning up Parcelforce to find out what has gone wrong this time.

    26. I have Kizuna. She's my first vinil doll and i' m surprised of her posability. Amazing!

    27. Me too! The posing is so smooth and they stand sturdy!
I only wish they had more move-ability on their thighs and legs... They sit a bit awkwardly, and I would love to be able to have them sit with their legs at a higher angle than their butts.
But it is the same ol' looks or pose-ability doll-issue.

    28. Turns out my concern was unneeded; Ebony arrived as expected :3nodding: I'd share a photo, only my internet speed is fairly awful at the moment and I can't get anything to upload properly

I'm also surprised and very pleased by how poseable the Smart Doll body is, although I wish the legs were able to bend more at the hips and knees too. The telescopic stand is a pretty nifty feature (I might try rigging something like it up for my Dollfie Dream) and wow, how much do I love those swiveling wrists! Not being able to position the hands properly on my DD is one of the things that drives me crazy, but posing Smart Doll hands is a dream! All in all it's a very impressive body. :D
The Tea vinyl is a gorgeous colour. A little darker than I expected but lovely nonetheless. It makes me think about trying to dye or paint a DD head to match it. It also makes me want a girl in the Cocoa skin too!
I do have to admit though, that I'm not totally taken with the head; it's not the 'flatness' of the features that bothers me, it's the size of the head's upper half that does. I left Ebony's headcap off when I put the wig on to help reduce the height of it. For some wigs I may need to stuff the inside of her head :XD:

I expect my next Smart Doll will be Moonlight, whenever she makes an appearance. Unless I decide to make a hybrid using the body first - it is a wonderful body!

    29. SCORE!

    30. So am i! And if the awkwardness in sitting could be fixed by shoulder (make her sitting round-shouldered) but when i try to stand her stright, i'd wish her legs 2 mm moving back more. I'm still not ready to mod her body. But at all smartdolls are wonderful

      @Zaliayn, congrats!!!

      My girl

    31. @El_grimuar your Kizuna looks gorgeous, and I love her cardigan!

Had a wig delivery this morning and Ebony helped herself to one - it was supposed to be for another doll (of course) but it suits her so much that she gets to keep it. And it also cures the problem I was having with her head size too, so I had no need to worry about that either! These girls take care of themselves it seems! Took her outside earlier to take a few photos of the snazzy new wig. She seems to like it!:

    32. @Zaliayn , wig suits your Ebony just perfect! Much better than black wig.
@K-2! , i have only Kizuna, but you're right, this is the best name for her. So foxy)))

    33. @El_grimuar, your Kizuna looks great in this cardigan!

@Zaliayn, I love this red wig on Ebony! Both color and style suit her really well.

I tried to rename my Kizuna - believe me, I really did. She was "Maya" and "Kaya" for a short time, but she never accepted these names. At some points I just gave up and she's just "Kiz" since then.

I was absent in this thread for a long time, so I'd like to share my latest favourite picture of Kiz :)

    34. Wow! What a shot - dinamic and expressive! Your Kiz is amazing!

    35. Now I really don't mean this to be disparaging, as these are lovely dolls, but can someone explain for me what differentiates them from Obitsu or Dolfie Dream?
I think the one advantage I can see so far that would tempt me if they were my collection style is the option of skin tones other than "super pale" and "even more pale".

    36. The big thing is that the Smart Dolls, Dollfie Dreams, Obitsus, and soon to enter the vinyl arena Granado are all different brands designed and manufactured by different companies. Like different manufacturers in any field, each can have a different approach to solving the problem. The "problem" in this case being creating a vinyl BJD body. You could pick any companies that make resin dolls and ask the same questions.

The simple answer is that each doll type has different designs for both the exterior skins and the internal skeletons. Each manufacturer approaches their design with different goals and different ways of achieving them. If you look at all three companies' dolls each has a different esthetic. Looking deeper you will see each doll has differences in the internal skeleton and how they make their joints. The combination of the skeleton/joint design and how the skin parts interact with that skeleton yields slightly different ranges of motion. Another difference (which you pointed out) is the different skin tones available. Each brand has a different range of body sizes. These brands also have other differences which can lead you to choose one over another.

It's like choosing a car. Any car will get you from point A to point B, but each brand will have different models, different styles, different performance specifications, different options, and of course a different price. It's up to you to decide which feature gives which brand an advantage in your mind over the others.

    38. Thank you ^^ The best part of it is that I really haven't planned it to look like this - it was Kiz herself who decided on this shot ;)

    39. Omg!!! I don't know what to do! I found a black mark on Kizuna's body! I'm so upset... i dont understerstand how it could happen, but anywhere it's too late to look for history. What to do? How to remove? Sand paper or what? Sorry for phone photo

    40. First off, don't blame yourself. Unfortunately stains on vinyl is the way of things. While some items/colors will be obvious stain makers, it can be difficult to predict exactly which garments will stain. It is possible that one of the components of a dye may be responsible. It could be an airborne containment that settled on the doll or something left on the doll from handling. In any case vinyl owners have come to accept staining as the inevitable. The important thing is to know what to do.

First you can try conventional cleaning, some light detergent (like dish soap) and a magic eraser. A little bit of scrubbing can sometimes clear a surface stain, but most of the time stains go deeper than just the surface and need some special treatment. I would also avoid sanding as the sanded area can have a different finished appearance than the surrounding unsanded area. Also the stain may have penetrated deeper than it is advisable to sand.

While there are numerous home remedies used to remove stains in vinyl and resin (yes, resin will stain too. Resin isn't as porous as vinyl so it stains much slower), I cannot recommend any of them. The products used in these home remedies were not made for cleaning vinyl and while less expensive the results can vary, sometimes doing more harm than good.

For stain removal on vinyl I recommend Remove-Zits by Twin Pines of Maine. Remove-Zits was formulated by a patent holding chemical engineer specifically for removing stains from vinyl and plastic dolls and action figures. Remove-Zits (and some home remedies) has active ingredients that lose potency with time. When you order Remove-Zit a fresh batch is made for your order and dated so there are no concerns over how long the product has been sitting on the self. I have been using Remove-Zits and its companion product Formula 9-1-1 for almost 10 years and have gone through 4 containers of it, successfully removing some nasty stains (and a couple really large ones) without suffering any damage to my dolls. It is more expensive than home remedies but is worth every penny. While you're at their site look through their other products just to keep in mind other possible problem solvers. I would also recommend purchasing some Formula 9-1-1, which is a very good cleaner for surface dirt and grime as well as removing the slight stickiness Remove-Zit can sometimes leave.

    41. Thank for so informative and helpful answer! I' m newbie in handling with vinil dolls and this accident was an unpleasant surprise for me. But if you say that this is used to usually happen, then.. will work with what we have.
I tried to wash doll with soap unsuccessfully. And i thought about sand paper because i saw it in stock in shop.smartdoll.jp. but now i'll try remedie you recommended. Thank you very much!

    42. I don't have, and it really doesn't interest me.
Maybe one day I would have one for sewing?

    43. I can tell you this, they are very nice to sew for!

    44. For sewing, for knitting, for playing they are perfect))))

    45. And for taking photos of, and all of the other things enjoyed in this hobby ^^

Reminds me I need to take pix of my Haruka (what I named my Eiji) now that he has his new wig.
I also need to order him Crimson eyes soon, so he can be finished.

    47. Oo cool! I was wondering how people liked the Smart Doll line~ I fell in love with it over a year ago, just haven't pulled together the funds yet. The new Twilight line is the one I have my eyes on~!

    48. @K-2! Very funny story)) congrats about chitose!

    49. I have been a lurker in this thread and recently sold my Smart Dolls which I almost instantly regretted. I kept some clothes like the white and blue jeans that cost a fortune haha. Anyway I decided it was silly to be depressed every time I saw one and I have ordered Julia! She should be here this week. I'm so excited to have one of the girls again!
