I haven't been around the forums in a while but with all this time to tinker with my dolls I've been doing some stuuuff. -w- In honor of that, have a Nanashi!



I put on his default wig since I feel like it's special now that the boys are nowhere to be found. In spite of being default as all get out, Nanashi still manages to have his own vibe...

@animemom keyleth is so cute! is she in the cinnamon skintone? and i’m pretty sure that we can’t make profiles for smart dolls on doa since they are off topic.

 

I kind of figured that was the case. Is there a thread where people are posting a profile type post with a photo of their Smart Doll on DOA?
She is cinnamon skin and I agree Kayleth is a great name.

 

I think pretty much your only option is to put it here.
I believe this to be the only SmD friendly thread on DoA.

Keyleth grabbed this adorable top and skirt from Elite Doll World. It was to go to my one resin girl, but Keyleth is taller and a big more curvy so she got it and my resin girl will get something else later.
I used one of my pour paintings as a backdrop. It's not the right direction, but until I do another one that is in right direction this will have to do as it's one of my biggest.

So, I, uh, just maybe ordered a Smart Doll. XD

I wish they still sold the XS busts as I had planned on making the doll male, but small bewbs will have to do.

 

He has given a 3d file (free) for the xs-bust. People are already trying with their own 3d printer so it's only a matter of time before they will be sold through the 'fanbase'.

 

Oh, I know. My main worry is that it won't be available in tea...not to mention, you're likely losing posability because it's hard unlike the vinyl version.

My tea Oceana was supposed to arrive on Friday, but missed her ride in Franklin Park, IL. So I resolved she would be here in Tues as holiday weekend and I read DHL doesn't deliver on Saturday. Then my doorbell rang and she was home.

Sadly the board I had them on to raise them up isn't long enough to get them farther apart for a better photo. But will try for better ones inside soon.

 

EDIT: I guess I had nothing to worry about, because the very next morning I got a text saying that the hands had already shipped! DHL is so fast!

Hi everyone!! This is my first time posting to this thread and my first girl will probably arrive sometime next week!!

I was able to adopt a Smart Doll Kanata (in milk) second-hand, and I really wanted to get hands for her!! Amazingly, they were restocked on the Smart Doll website yesterday, so I purchased all four hand packs in milk. I bought all four of them at once because I'm not sure how quickly they sell out and I know Danny wants to discontinue the milk skin tone (all of the milk girls are on sale right now!), so I wasn't sure if he was going to keep providing the optional parts in milk in the future, and I don't want mismatched cinnamon hands for Kanata.

I was super happy with my purchase, but an hour later I got an email saying something to the effect of, "Hey, you haven't ordered from us before! Did you mean to order this/ where did you get your Smart Doll from?" Like my purchase was suspicious to them? I answered that I got her second-hand and even provided pictures, but I'm sort of scared that they won't send the hand packs to me because, I don't know, it seems unusual to order so many and to not have ordered a doll too? I swear that I only want the hands for Kanata and I'm not going to use them for any nefarious purposes!! I like the extra expressiveness the hands give, and I've bought extra hand packs for my other dolls before, many at a time, without being questioned!

I guess what I'm asking is, do any of you have any experience ordering something from the Smart Doll site and then getting an email asking why you're buying something from them, or asking you where you received your girl if not from their site?

They seem to be sending those kinds of emails to people, whose email addresses are not in their system since before (unless it's for a full doll, I guess)... And Danny is not keen on secondhand purchases of his dolls, I seem to remember..??
I'd suggest you give this thread (or the post) a read - and hope it won't cause you any stress about your order. I'd like to say that I think you'll be fine, but honestly, it's seems so random

Thanks for the thread suggestion! I'll read it but it looks like I had nothing to worry about after all, because I woke up to a text from DHL saying that they were on their way with my order!! I am immensely relieved, but surprised by how swiftly this problem has been resolved, if Danny indeed dislikes the second-hand market!

 

I think they just are over protective in making sure that people know exactly what to expect with what they ordered. I’m excited for your new hands! I too was waiting for a milk restock of the heel feet because I was worried about it going away forever.

Does anyone happen to know some good places to get clothes for smart dolls? Aside from the smart doll website, that is~

 

you can get any clothes that fit standard DD clothes for them, I suggest mandarake!

 

I bought both my SmD girls from Fabric Friends and Dolls, the authorized dealer in the US. Iris (the owner) has always been great in helping with layaways and such, and and I love the lack of fretting over international commerce/shipping/fluctuating exchange rate, etc. Later I bought some hands, wigs, etc from SmartDoll in Japan, and had no problems at all, and no emails. I don't if SmD contacted Iris to see if I'd ordered from her, but I doubt it because DHL delivered the stuff 2-3 days after my orders.

 

I've heard that TTYA clothing fits them really well. I've seen a lot of praise for Dollgerie.

 

I buy a lot of clothes from Elite Doll World on Etsy as well as TTYA on etsy.

There will always be delays in production that we never hear about. Supply problems, quality control issues, manufacturing delays...
All we can do is sign up for the release announcement email and wait patiently.
I too am waiting for Singularity (anime style).

 

So.. it sucks that everything is done in preorders now and the e-mails are not working at least not for me and a few others. You might want to stalk the page in case.

OMG! I didn't realize there was a thread for Smart Doll and didn't think I'd be able to share her here. I purchased Dauntless (SemiReal style) from Fabric Friends and Dolls at the end of July. So far I've been able to dress her in dresses from Iplehouse in NYID and SID size, DollHearts in SD 10/13 and 1/3 size, and Dollmore SD/Youth Dollmore Eve size. (I can't swear that every outfit in these sizes will fit. A lot depends on the cut and style.) This is the Breathtaker set from Dollmore:

I'm having some trouble finding shoes. I have an old pair of shoes from LeekeWorld that must have been mis-sized because they never fit any doll I tried them on--until now. The trouble is, sparkly silver open toed shoes don't go with every outfit. I was also able to get her into shoes for Zaoll Luv. They're a little big but fit okay with socks or stockings.

 

Yeah, standard SD shoes tend to be big on them. I've had some luck with MSD boy shoes- my girls sometimes wear kid delf shoes (sneakers).

 

Thanks for the tip. I'll look at MSD boy shoes. The funny thing is that my Zaoll Luv shoes look like men's shoes. In fact, I bought them for my Iplehouse FID guys. Maybe some of my other MSD boy boots and shoes will fit.

next month I am on retired income so I did start a website to fill a bit of the lower income I get then
and since a few months I have a embroidery machine so I can make my designs for on shirts

Here's Dauntless in an outfit from Iplehouse. I think it was for nYID but I can't be sure. It's several years old. The sleeves are too big. I need to take a few stitches in the elastic to make them smaller.
