I don't know about any secondhand markets that are that consistent, just because they probably haven't been around long enough yet.

Fabric Friends and Dolls is an official dealer but they would prob only have new ones, I've seen a few Smart Dolls pop up for sale on Instagram now and then but you have to be careful with those kinds of places. I think your best bet for now would be to join DollDreaming and put up a Want to Buy threadpost.

 

Thank you both for your input! ^-^ I do check Mandarake daily but Smartdoll sales are so sparse on there and the guys are even rarer ×_× I will check out DollDreaming though! I might get lucky someday >w<

 

My first ever larger doll was a Mirai Cortex. I have the clear version too but I’ve been too lazy to buy the skeleton yet. I like that it’s fairly light and easy to work with. Plus putting it together was pretty fun. I can see how it does feel less sturdy than a vinyl doll though. Overall I’m very happy with her even with her seams.

It's large and active and there are often dolls for sale there.
The men are rare but they do show up. Good luck.

I don't notice it at all, to be honest. IMO, it blends better with the cinnamon than the milk.

For me I have an the ability to see more colors than normal people and it is very noticeable to me, but I kept going back to her so I ended up buying her. I still need one of the boy's but one thing at a time.

There is a Smart doll group on face book that has a few members who have and they are already showing off the mixed random parts.

They are arriving... Seems mostly regular stuff (as i kinda expected).

From what i've seen on fb/group, it's all very regular stuff. Combined with the dhl-shipping (free shipping now at 70000yen)and the customs fee (calculated by dhl-europe) i'm not buying anything ftm.

 

Lol sorry I meant I’ll check out the fb group. I bought them since I was ordering some other stuff already and I have a cortex I thought it might be cool to get some vinyl pieces for. Even if it’s normal stuff that’s cool with me.

I just purchased a smart doll journey (alternate)! I’m so excited~ The dolls seem really lovely. I initially wasn’t so much into this style of doll, but the more I see it the more I like it

Does anyone happen to know how shipping is for the dolls as of late? I heard things are shipping by DHL now as Japan Post is really backed up ;;

I went on a bit of a spree and purchased a DDS sailor moon too. It’s only been a few months into the hobby and I’ve purchased four dolls total (two resin, two vinyl). I should probably stop as it’s not good for my wallet, haha

 

I've had two items ship from china (also backed up) with dhl and they both arrived within two weeks. Relatively fast for everything being delayed.

 

For the smartdoll DHL to the US I got mine in today. So super fast.

 

Appearantly with DHL it's only a couple of days ;-)

Omg they’re beautiful! I was originally going to buy a Kanata but found I ultimately preferred Journey’s face. Though, I would have bought them both if I could afford it! I got my doll an outfit and shoes as well so I can’t wait to receive her~

A few days would be great! It seems DHL ships fast! Unfortunately by DDS Sailor Moon seems to be stuck at Japan Post in posting/collection

My Smart Doll Melody that just came last week got here in like... a day and a half 0.0 I got shipping notification one morning and she was delivered the following evening by DHL. Oddly, for the first time ever (being in the USA) I had to pay a customs charge. Not super pleased about that.

 

Oh no ;; Tbh I can wait my only worry is happening to the box or worse yet the doll ! And ofc I am terrified of my package getting lost...I should have waited but I was so excited TT

Customs charge? Oh my that is very weird...I do hear the charges also depend on the state but that’s bit concerning ;; Was it terribly expensive? My sister actually went ahead and bought me Kanata once I told her of my interest in Smart Dolls (she is the sweetest) but I’d feel so bad if she had to pay customs charges too ;; Tho in any case congrats on your doll~ I’m glad to hear the shipping is really fast tho haha

 

I ordered more than just the doll (some shoes and wigs and all) which made it more expensive. It ended up being about $58. If I had gotten just the doll it may have skirted under the threshold and not had a tax, but I can't be sure.

 

Wauw... I would be happy with that amount. Sadly it's way more for Europe/Belgium. Most of the times i paid around $140, now i hear higher numbers (using dhl) >_<

 

DHL. oh, that's the difference although it shouldn't matter what company. we still don't pay tax on toys. I wonder why SmD chose them? is EMS not available from Jpn? I just had a package shipped from S. Korea. I've been warned its slow.
A year or so ago, I received a doll via dhl. no customs tax confusing.

 

hello everyone! i’m finally joining this thread after a long time lurking. everyone’s dolls are so cute! i am seriously considering ordering a final boss grade cocoa cortex mirai.

does anyone here have cocoa cortex? what are your thoughts on it? also who has assembled the fbg kit? how did it go?

 

I don’t have the cocoa kit but I am currently doing a final boss grade kit. It’s not bad as long as you have the tools and follow along with one of the video how-tos. I think there are a few on YouTube including one by Danny. The most important part is just to make sure you don’t accidentally swap any of the pieces when putting it together lol. Otherwise you might have to try to take them apart again.

 

@Ssalerno04 that is good advice! thanks very much. i had seen danny choo’s video where he assembles one, but i will definitely look for some more how to videos!

 

I should probably contact them on that. Someone else also told me I shouldn't have to pay tax on a doll. As for the why, it's because Japan Post has been slow. Like, weeks long and then sometimes even ending up back at the store slow.

 

Got my girl! She’s absolutely lovely, though I admit I was a little intimidated by her size! It’s my first doll of this scale She came in two days, including the day she shipped, so she was super fast and I didn’t have to pay any customs fee luckily~

No movement from my DDS that was shipped via EMS though

 

She's lovely happy she got there fast ^^ feel free to post a picture when you are less intimated by her

 

Yesterday I did the final boss kit frame parts. Man some of those pieces are hard to click into place lol, but I can finally put my crystal girl together. If only her face up was finished.

i ordered mirai cocoa cortex (fbg) on monday night, and she’s scheduled to be here tomorrow! i’m so excited!

 

her face definitely is still in progress but I thought I’d put it on to celebrate the body coming together.

I don't typically "get along" with anime-style dolls. But I cannot stop thinking about the Courage in Tea color. Like...it's bad. Smartdolls are 100% not what my usual aesthetic is. I really wish that Layaway was an option.

 

You could keep an eye on Fabric Friends and Dolls to get Courage, they do layaway. I got my Lelouch through them

I was only into vinyl/smartdolls anime-dolls; typical resindolls (fairyland/luts/...) were not my cup of tea. But after buying many as birthdaygifts for the gf, i found a tiny boy (Lati Yellow SP) and bought him instantly

I think she was JUST listed today! I follow Smart Dolls now on Instagram and I had seen a little blurb about her early this morning. She's a cutie, but oh my gosh that's too much.

 

I DID IT!! It took me only several hours and finally just having my husband pick from them all. But..I did it.

 

@Angelesk congrats! courage is so cute! i just got my first smart doll too and i’m kind of obsessed with her! i got the elf ears for mine too and they are amazing!
