Do you have a blog or website JUST for dolls?

Mar 9, 2013

    1. If so, what sort of blog is it? Is it strictly photography? A "project" blog? A diary about BJDs? A blog usedd solely to RP your dolls? Maybe a blog dedicated to storylines you've given your dolls? I'm curious, because although I don't have one, some threads get locked because they're more suited to dolly blogs... and I figured hey, maybe it seems other people are doing this?! It seems like a neat idea to me. So who is doing it, and what is your doll blog about?

    2. Yep, I do ^_^ Its mostly a place to put my projects and also my stories and photographs - it is, of course, styled very fittingly for these dolls: http://thebjdhotel.livejournal.com/. I think these blogs are really interesting and it's cool to watch people develop ideas for their dolls.

    3. yep i have one. http://shinigamishishi.livejournal.com

the blog is dedicated to my collections (BJDs, nendoroids and pullips dolls) but most of the entries I posted are about my BJDs =))

    4. I don't have a blog, but I have my own doll photography website.

    5. I have a tumblr for my doll stuff to keep it separated from my fandom stuff on my main tumblr account. The doll tumblr gets pictures, doll thoughts, rants, whatever doll related stuff I feel like posting about.

    6. I have my BJD blog, Dear Resin. Its a 'general' doll blog - I post photostories, hand-made doll clothes, meet photos, and random musings. I also have a BJD tumblr here, but I mostly use it to browse BJD photos and share my photos and new blog posts. :)

    7. Your blog is really nice!

I have a regular tumblr for all kinds of things that I occasionally post bjds on, but I'd love to make a blog just for that. Including all the things you mentioned.

    8. Please take care to avoid mentioning or linking to blogs that serve as shops as this is the same as any other kind of advertising sales and carries the same consequences: a warning for the first instance, and a 30 day suspension from the Marketplace for the second, longer suspensions or Marketplace bans may follow if advertising continues.

If you have any questions, please post in Ask the Moderators.

    9. Yes, I have one tumblr blog which is simply my own doll photos with a mixed bag of quotations that I find inspiring or amusing, and appropriate for the photos. I occasionally interject a personal note, but it is not a diary-type blog.
The link is in my signature.

    10. I've got one linked in my sig that I'm just started to get into updating again.

    11. I have a blog for my dolls...I use it to have a place to vent or rant about what I've messed up or tried to do...WIP photos, pretty photos, new dolls, dolls I like or might want......the usual stuff. I also have a link in my sig.
I like having the BJD blog to keep the doll stuff separate from my art on DA...that way people who don't want to read about it don't have too!

    12. Thanks MicroRNA! You should make a blog! Its nice to document and share the things you do with your doll.

    13. Yes I do! Mostly a place to relate all doll thoughts/happenings to, because I don't have much in the way of friends sharing the hobby. I keep meaning to add profiles of my various dolls, but that has yet to happen.

    14. I think I should probably do this. I kinda feel like if I don't I'll end up getting one somebody's nerves.

I'm an aspiring illustrator and most of the people who follow my blogs probably don't care about my dolls and doll-related rants, they just want to see my drawings. Conversely, anyone who wants to follow me because they happen to like my dolls probably don't care too much for my scribbles and pseudo-intellectual musings.

It IS a bit difficult though, because up until now, my dolls represented my characters so sometimes I feel like there's an overlap of interests there - sometimes I feel like I should post drawings to go with the dolls, sometimes the dolls really belong with drawings.

.... Also I'm just terrible with managing more than a few things at once. I think one of the blogs (probably the doll blog) would get neglected pretty frequently. It seems... easier to just dump everything into one random thought space. But I probably should start learning how to manage multiple things at once. ><

    15. GalaxyShi and I share a doll site that is mostly a blog (with an added gallery). We just sort of post whatever we feel like to it now, so long as it is doll related. TBH we don't update it very often <_<

(It's the banner link in my sig)

    16. I have a group blog for bjd girls. I feel like there's so many boy BJD's out there that we have yet to see so many of the beautiful girls people have to offer :)

    17. I finally converted my website to primarily doll things. It was headed that way for a long time. As for a blog... that part of it is still floating around.

    18. I am planning to open a Blogspot blog when I've got my first doll. ^^

    19. Indeed I do! I even link it in my signature. Not a BJD specific blog, but a general doll blog that I also talk BJD in. I've been at it since late 2003 :D

    20. Well, mine is a combination of stuff about dolls and clothing that I make for dolls, so a bit of a mixed bag. Just started it when I got my first BJD a week ago :)

      http://bjdbottega.blogspot.ca/

Actually not sure if I should have posted this link, because it's to a site where I sell things as well? If I'm out of line, I apologize; Mods please feel free to delete this post.

    21. I have a website with a gallery of all my dolls. Not only with BJD. It's great when I'm away from home, I can visit the website and enjoy my dolls :)

So I show processes there, projects, patterns, just photos. Anything that has relation to my dolls.

    22. Kiind of. My tumblr is mostly my dolls, I made it for that purpose, but I occasionally reblog cute rat pictures, and other off topic-y things.

    23. Not yet, but I'm planning to create new blog...
      yes, just for doll

    24. No, but I thought about it. :I I barely have a blog though so I still have a lot to go. XD

    25. I actually created a Livejournal for my crew a while ago. Posted some photostories there. Here it is. It's actually pretty inactive though. Haha. Posting photos on a separate site got a little troublesome for me.

Recently I created this page for them. It's sort of an rp page where I rp as my dolls there. :)

    26. I have a Tumblr and you can make multiple blogs on one account, so I made a doll one. But.... really I don't understand how to use Tumblr very well, so I made a doll blog and have never used it. x_X I'd meant for it to just be a photo blog but maybe I'd prefer roleplay or random scenes like a photostory or something. I don't know, but it all sounds like a lot of fun!

    27. I have a Tumblr in my signature.
It's not very active right now but it definitely will be when I get my first doll.

    28. I have one. Mainly it's kinda a Photography/Stories/blog/Rp/Random things... That i do and have with my two. though i need to work on putting up more of the photos i have after editing some of them. though really right now it's just really as is.. http://shadesofasnowflake.tumblr.com/

    29. I actually just opened an official site. xD Had a Tumblr/Flickr/DA but nowhere to put my stories and stuff. I'm at Shadowed Force now. :)

    30. Mine is an actual website rather than a blog. I use it as an "RP" I suppose it's just all my character info.
I initially planned on making a scrapbook / storybook of my dolls but the website saves me money and time.

    31. I made a Tumblr to follow the life of Kadan and Chiisa, though it never grew popular... so I don't check it much anymore. I still post their new photos on it but that's all :/ link is in my signature.

    32. Not exactly just for dolls. But for Figures and stuff, dolls included. Sometimes tell stories other times just take pix of random outings (though they haven't been too often)

    33. I have a blog just for my bjd obsession, I tend to post photos, updates on my dolls and dolly/crafts projects, reviews, and the occasional rants though at the moment I'm having a bit of a backlog due to time contraint LOL! But there are quite a few changes and updates I have in mind and I'll be getting back to work on my blog soon enough! :XD: I'm also actually planning to have a dolly website too but that takes time to set up and until I clear my blog entries backlog I won't be working on the webby yet. But I'm definitely excited to get started! :XD:

    34. I don't have a general doll blog where I, as an owner, talk about dolls. However, one of my dolls has his own blog. There's a link in my signature to Tyler's blog. ;) (It's an in-character RP in case anyone's wondering)

    35. Folks, please remember that you shouldn't post links to your sites if the site also contains obvious for-pay-services pages or has links to your business endeavor pages. It's the determination of the mods that the intent of this thread is to ask about blogs/pages/sites that are involved with the owner's dolls, not about sites or pages that are concerned with what someone can do for other people's dolls.

If your site also advertises your for-pay-services for other people's dolls, it's coming too close to advertising outside the MP to post a link here.

    36. I would love to have a blog just for my lovely dolls, but I do it have time to invest in it. Perhaps in the future.

    37. Yes. I have a blog where I debut all of my latest characters and creations. I would post a link, but I'm afraid there may be some conflict of interest restrictions. It's a lot of fun and very inspiring to get feedback and be able to interact with my followers.

    38. I used to have one but I'm very lazy and I have a hard time keeping up with postings everyday. It's currently pretty much in forever hiatus.

    39. I dont writte blogs about BJDs, never tought in the posibility before :s

    40. I'm pretty new to the hobby (still waiting for my first boy) but I love the idea of doll RP blogs! Those would be really cool to read and probably a lot of fun to make.

    41. No, I have no blog for dolls, but probably I will sometime get it.

    42. I don't have one....but I think it's a great idea. :) Maybe I'll make one...if I find a good possibility.
If I'll do ... it will mostly be a photgraphy blog. But some projects I'm working on will be there too...
      Now I want to have one. ;_;
I have a normal website...but a blog seems to be the better possibility.

    43. Not yet, but I'm thinking of making one, with photographs/backstories etc.

I never even thought about doll RP blogs. I think that's an amazing idea. I wonder how one would get into that...

    44. I actually really want to make one but I'm not sure if I should do it on tumblr or blogspot or something

    45. Yes! I started one this year, since I just really wanted somewhere to vent, ramble, post pictures, designs/inspirations, sewing fails, box openings, reviews, faceups and all that kinda fun stuff XD It's not very interesting yet, but it keeps me busy (and I try to post something new every week!:))
      For anyone interested it's: http://mollycoddledolls.wordpress.com :3

    46. I do! It contains short entries about my current projects, pictures of my doll, and, for inspiration, pictures of other peoples' fantastic costumes/fashion and gorgeous dolls.

Slightly NSFW for nekkid dolls and language.

      http://troublesome-acronym.tumblr.com

And now I'm adding ALL ya'll tumblr people.

    47. I don't have a blog per-say. My Instagram is for my dolls: k0neko
I am in the process of making a flickr and wanting a decent camera!

    48. Come to think of it, I've been keeping a doll blog for a while now!

      http://thewizardinablizzard.blogspot.co.uk/

Its also pretty general; rants, pictures, etc.
I think they are a great idea, and in some cases, can even make the hobby a lot healthier. :)

    49. I just made a tumblr specifically for my dolls today actually. Mostly it's for myself to track my progress as I get back into the hobby.

    50. Not yet but maybe in future. First I need to put home in order that I can more concentrate in doll stuff. Blogging is fun but now I have only one place where I just but my thoughts and other stuff mix. Maybe one day.

    51. I have a blog only for my dolls

    52. I *just* started one so its really not ready for viewing but I want a place for photos primarily and also because most followers of my regular blog probably do not care at all about "doll talk"

I follow a TON of doll blogs. I'm kind of obsessed with them. And I'm a visual person so the more pretty photos the better :)

    53. Pastel Fish is my tumblog that's mainly for dolls and doll things like sewing, eyemaking, faceups... (and some art and randomness on occasion) so I don't know if it counts, but if you'd like to check it out you can! http://soenatte.tumblr.com/
