Do Dolls Dream Marionette Line

@Mademoiselle Grymms Oh I have no doubt they’re worth the price tag. I’ve read the quality is brilliant from a number of people. It’s just figuring out from our finances if I *should* order. I wonder if the EUR to NZD is likely to get worse or better in the future… was thinking about layaway maybe changes total cost if the exchange rate changes. I’m no good at money forecast.

Initially I was all in on Ursula, but am really liking Clementine too. I actually have two characters in mind anyway. It’s just who to get now as I would only get one.

There’s the Walrus for my Alice in Wonderland crew. I was wanting to genderbend them and make them a Selkie. Thinking of Woodland Echo and doing lighter pink skin markings like the walrus get. Vitiligo like constellations. I liked Ursula for this because of her teeth. Buuut…

Second character is the Lion. And Ursula is cat!! Caramel forrest. Heterochromia, one yellow one blue eye, big mane of hair, kinda fancast of Catra from She-ra and the Princesses of Power.

So then I was like… maybe Selkie is Clementine? I dunno. I feel like I need the resin colour photos for the new sculpts.

 

Hi friends. I have a question. I saw that the new preorder will be available in late March, and the website has some of the available face sculpts listed.
I was hoping to get Aurelia, and Margaret as an extra head. However, I saw that Margaret isn’t available for this preorder. Does anyone know if her sculpt is still available? Is it just that she isn’t listed this time, or has that sculpt been discontinued?
Any insight or knowledge would be greatly appreciated!

 

@fairyscrolls - It is unlikely that Margaret is discontinued - usually DoDollsDream will say if that is the case!

But she does rotate the available heads per preorder (probably to keep things simpler) so Margaret probably just isn't available this time, but may be on the list next time. The Teacup sculpts seem to rotate quite a lot, for example, with the most popular (such as Ursie) being available for most preorders, but those seemingly less popular (such as Marie) not appearing as often.

I recommend asking DoDollsDream if you have any questions - all the communication I've had with her has been lovely!

Back in her last Miss Marionette release, I had to cancel because of a financial emergency and wasn't able to get my original order. I contacted her recently about something and discovered that she HAD my original order by a stroke of extreme luck! I was so happy I bought her and thought I'd be satisfied with that and could avoid the new pre order.


...but then she released the head sculpts 2 days later and I'm struggling I just want all the Do Dolls Dream. Ursie and the elf Clementine Lily are so beautiful. Urara too! I'm not safe

 

@Littlebirdzoom - I know exactly what you mean! I want all the sculpts, even if it might take me a little bit to collect them.

 

I'm in such a toss up between Clementine Lily and Lullaby Clementine! Guess I could always get both heads, but I typically don't like having floating heads.

Though currently I think I'm leaning towards Lullaby Clementine, since I'm dreaming about an ethereal elf character.

 

You are very welcome! I can imagine that she needs to rotate the available heads because there are so many of them now. And from the customer's perspective, maybe it makes choosing only one or two easier? (or not ) (I struggled a lot to choose last time!)

 

I’m struggling with this one—I thought it was going to be easy to just grab Ursula, but now I’m really taking a shine to Lullaby Clementine. And then there’s the matter of resin colours. I almost hope they offer WS so that I can get a really vampiric looking little lady. Or a shade of grey again. Or we get really crazy and try something like blue.

 

@Chameleon - I remember asking earlier if the near-pure-white color (called "Milky Sugar") that was available for the Teacups recently would be available this time and I was told it would be. So you probably could have a WS vampire! The greys are also lovely, though.

The lovely thing about WS is if you ever want it to be any other colour, it has the least fighting undertones when you dye it. I totally don’t have a dye addiction here, no not at all.

if money stopped existing, I’d do a WS lullaby clementine and a grey Ursula, but either way the price of these dolls being what it is, they’re definitely sharing a body.

 

Ahhh, I was so excited to see that preorder is coming soon! I've been saving up for ages, and when Ursa was revealed I was just taken away. I really like somewhat anthro dolls, turns out! That grumpy kitty face has stolen my heart. Looking forward to the resin reveal so I can start scheming.

 

They're by no means finished but here's a pic of my two elf Charlotta. I want to get a new wig and eyes for my pale rose girl and I'm still waiting on things to complete their outfits.

I'm so tempted to join the next preorder

I really love both my girls but there are just a couple of things that bug me. First off the magnetic feet come off really easily on both of them. And secondly taking their heads off is really difficult. They are strung very tight, which I actually like, but instead of an S hook it's a ring. The ring then meets with the tiniest of gaps but when pulling at the ring to get the head on and off it opens wider and whatever I use to pull the ring either gets trapped or slips through the gap. Does anyone else have this problem and figured out a way round it?

I lifted and pulled my girl's ring to get her head off and didn't have too much of an issue, but I see what you mean. The rings are not thick enough or strong enough to support the weight from the elastic properly and I think she could consider a thicker ring. Since it's shaped like the bottom of an S hook, I wonder if it can just be replaced with one? Or you could turn the ring so the gap isn't at the very top, but ultimately I think it needs to be replaced with something a little stronger. I'll probably end up using a pair of pliers to pull it back up on her. Babe you tried pliers?

For the feet, I have to use a good amount of force to get mine's feet off, but then again I'm only pulling. I haven't tried her in shoes yet or had her standing too much, but I haven't noticed any issues on my end. Maybe someone else can chime in with that.

I absolutely adore my new girl. I'm a little frustrated with this resin though. I thought people liked this particular caster, but I've had her for less than a week and I'm playing with her like normal. Gently. And there's about a billion resin rubs and scratches all over her now. As well as some very strangely picked up darker streaks from??? nothing??. Looks like just the way it's rubbing? I don't know if it's the nature of the green, but she looks beat up and I've been so nice to her. I wonder if I should spray her with a matte coat or something.

 

@Littlebirdzoom I've noticed a few scratches on my woodland echo Charlotta but not my pale rose one.

I'm really annoyed that I didn't buy the heel feet when I ordered my girls. I asked the other week if I could order heel feet when she opens the next preorder and it was a firm no, not without ordering a doll. Very frustrating that I can't ever have heel feet for either of my girls especially when heel feet are usually included with dolls or easy to buy separately from other doll companies.

Also, does anyone have any suggestions of what flat shoes will fit? I've only found one seller who makes shoes and they're a bit out of my price range.

 

Yeah and she used to allow some orders for separate parts way back. I wonder if it's more of a casting contract thing or something? I honestly wish we didn't have to buy sets at all. Most other companies either include heel feet or let you choose which pieces you want to buy here and there. Not to mention after dividing the cost, each pair of hands or feet is about $46~ each which is

As I expected, I'm totally priced out of the pearl resin. I adore these dolls, but $1500 for a blank doll is not something I'm willing to do. I'm also very worried about it becoming yellow I asked DDD if her resin had UV protectant and she said yes, but I'm just so so worried regardless. So I think I'll stick to getting Whiny Angel Clementine Lilly... now I just need to choose which xD I hope Urara comes back. She's a dream for me, but I just can't this time around. In a perfect world I'd have enough funding for like 4 of them. All the resin colors and head choices this round are right up my alley.

 

I missed out on the previous preorder so I'm hoping to get Charlotta but it's really hard to choose a resin tone

in a perfect world, I get Ursula in Milky Sugar, with the extra hands and feet, so that I can give her body to Zilvriia, and put the Ursula head on a dollstown elf, and/or a maskcat doll body. And then I get… probably lullaby Clementine, but possibly Lullaby Lily in radioactive cupcakes, with the beast hands and feet. I’d love to do an eye scar over the half closed eye, but I also know I’m a revolving door collector, and it might be hard to resell. I might just decide I don’t care and go with them anyway. I 100% know who the character would be, in this case, and I adore them.

We shall see how well my will to not blow all my money holds out. Radioactive cupcakes is such a wonderful colour (and a glorious name) that I just can’t resist.

Her on a Maskcat body sounds so cool actually! I LOVE Maskcat bodies! I'm not a fan of hybridding my dolls, but when I got my first Miss Marionette in the mail recently I was sooo in love with the body I wanted to pop some of my other doll's heads on it just to see. So I understand your dilemma lol!

Radioactive Cupcake is such a fun name. I think I'm settled on the Whiny Angel resin (who also has a fun name) with Lullaby Clementine Lilly. I think. Maybe

 

God, I love whiny angel—it’s almost like Dollzone’s moon white and/or dollshe’s light gray, both of which I’ve gotten for characters lol. If it’s around again, I’d be tempted to get the twins another sibling. I’ve already drafted my email for the pair of them, after getting a look at what my tax return is going to be this year—Zilvriia needs to be shorter than her current body, and I’d love for her to be as flexible as these girls. It’s also gonna be funny—she’s a cheap head (impl zona) on the most expensive possible body. The height difference between her and her wife (it’s a political marriage, for now!) is gonna be great—she’ll be ~55cm, and Nira (fifth motif hybrid) stands between 68-70cm

 

Well, I talked myself out of getting 2, somewhat successfully! I decided I could get the second one as a spare head, and then dye them the colour of radioactive cupcakes, on a spare body, and save some serious cash. We’ll see if my resolve on that holds until Saturday, when we have to send our orders in! Hopefully the two types of resin take colour similarly, and it’s not overly complicated to get them the same colour!!

EDIT: I didn't talk myself into a darned thing.... I just ordered two girls. My wallet is gonna hurt for this, but it's so worth it.

 

After an email exchange earlier this week, I should finally be able to get my first DDD gal - a Miss Ao in lavender. I've had the hideous luck that every past time I've wanted to order, I've had sudden onset tooth problems that need my dolls funds. But now I will have one, with luck! My plan is to make her into a sweet and eerie ghost girl.

 

I really wish dodollsdream could provide the option for additional head in different color writing to see if anyone wants to do a colour swap? I am deciding between angelic pink/ghostly moon and want to swap the additional head for milky sugar/pale rose. Or if you don’t want an additional head I can pay 300 euros for a milky sugar or pale rose head + split shipping to the US too.

 

I've finally finished one of my Charlottas. Just waiting for her sister to return from getting a face up.

 

Oh she looks stunning! Good thing I did not see her before ordering or I would have started musing all over again.

I wanted to say “Hi” & share that I ordered an Aurelia! I am so glad I finally did! I missed last years preorder for Miss Marionettes as I could not decide on the colour until the preorder closed ( plus I guess I was a bit intimidated by the price tag.) Bit of a shame, as I really badly want the Lulleby Aurelia head, which was not an option this time.

Anyway I have now ordered an Aurelia in woodland echo and honestly, I am just glad I made a decision and will get that gorgeous sculpt home!

So, who else has ordered and what did you get?

 

@kelpie thanks very much. My other Charlotta is in woodland echo and it's a really beautiful colour, I really don't think you'll be disappointed! Aurelia is so a beautiful sculpt!! Do you have any plans for her?

 

I have 2 girls on order (I can hardly believe I pulled that off!!) and one of the bodies is going to be a sparkly rainbow nightmare elf, with a head I already have (impldoll zona)—my beloved DnD character, Zilvriia. She’s in WS, and has so many wigs, because her changing her hair often is a character thing for her.

The Ursula head I’m getting with that body is going on a Dollmore body, and getting an iplehouse outfit I really want to put on someone, and the long blonde wig that comes with Dollzone’s Light—she’s going to be Fem Hamlet, but also a vampire, because I’ve had vampire Ophelia for a couple years, and she needs her horrible brooding (ex?)partner. She’s getting androgynous early 2000’s goth makeup. Yes, I am addicted to weirdass Shakespeare adaptations—ask me what I’ve done to Paradise Lost sometime, even if it’s not Shakespeare.

last, my lullaby Lily in radioactive cupcakes is a siren ex-pirate, who lives in a plane of hell, and has The Worst Relationship with a son of that plane’s lord. They keep fighting each other, but neither of them is capable of dying permanently, so it’s all good fun. The lullaby head was integral, because I’m going to do a really cool eye scar that was actually not from her partner—another demon got her, and he immediately came to her defence. Tentatively, her name is Tamora, but I’m not sold on it. I have a pirate outfit that I want to put her in.

 

I hope you will post photos! I would like to see her very much! Do you have a theme or story for your two in mind?

Thanks for assuring me about the resin colour, I was not sure of it at all and so tempted by all the great shades to pick from!

My Aurelia is supposed to be a forrest fantasy character. Think Pan’s Labyrinth - a bit more brightly coloured probably. That’s why I went for a more ‘natural shade’ resin colour.

 

Can someone help me with the caramel forest color? Because of the name I assume it is quite yellowish undertoned, but from a lot of the Instagram pictures it doesn't look yellowish.
(The thing is I have a teacup girl in wonder cookie and it is quite olive undertoned instead of reddish, which it looked like from pictures. So I have become sceptical of how well she captures the actual colors.)

Also pale rose is probably a very pale ns?

 

@kelpie I'll definitely post pics when I get her back from her face up. I have a theme I guess my other Charlotta is dressed the same but in black and pink. But that's it really with regards to theme and no story or even names .

Yeah it took me ages to decide on a colour last year! I do not regret the woodland echo but I sometimes wish I didn't play it safe with the pale rose and went with something more adventurous.

Oh I think Aurelia is perfect for a character like that!

@Pyoko can't help with caramel forest but pale rose is a normal skin. If you want pics of pale rose let me know. I can compare it with iplehouse and SartoriaJ resin.

@Pyoko - It is definitely challenging to figure out colors based on line photos - I sympathize!

I have a Miss Marionette in Caramel Forest and I feel like the color is pitched very nicely between yellow undertones and red undertones.

This might help - Caramel Forest isn't in the photo, but the "Nostalgic Biscuit" color was pretty similar as I recall (I don't have that doll now). I still have the Bimong and Fairyland samples, so if it would help to have a photo of them with a Caramel Forest part, I can try to take one for you.

I don't have many tans myself though, artist heads in soom tawny, harucasting light tan and withdoll honey brown. (if maybe you have one of those to compare to)

@Pyoko I completely forgot I have a fairyland faceplate in normal skin.

They are very close in colour but pale rose is lighter than fairyland normal.

What I personally like a lot about fairyland ns is that it's not as super pale as a lot of the ns options of other companies. From the picture it looks like marionette pale rose is lighter than it, but not that "almost white" ns so many companies seem to do. Looks nice

 

@Pyoko - I'll try to take some photos of Caramel Forest with the other examples tomorrow! I'm afraid I don't have any resins from the other companies you mentioned, but I can at least try to take some photos in natural life and that might be helpful.

Here are some photos! It is really hard to capture the colors correctly, but I did my best.

Some "in person" observations:

Caramel Forest is a beautiful pale tan. The resin isn't super saturated and also has a matte appearance - it isn't shiny at all. Monitors make a huge difference in how colors look online, but I do think that in DoDollsDream's photos the color usually looks redder than it actually is.

Maskcatdoll Tan is (I believe) meant to be close to Volks Sunlight Tan. Caramel Forest is close to it, but is less saturated and slightly more yellow/olive.

Caramel Forest is close to the old Dollshe Copper Oriental (Caramel Forest is just slightly more yellow/olive).

It is also close to Merrydollround's Cookie color (Cookie is a tiny bit darker and redder). (but note that my Olathe head is from quite a few years ago).

Fairyland Tan and Bimong's New Tan are MUCH redder than Caramel Forest. Fairyland Tan is also a bit darker.

Has anyone received their order summary/deposit request yet? I got the confirmation email the day I sent in the form, and another confirmation after I sent in a request to add a head, but no order summary just yet!

 

We were just wondering about this as well! No order summaries/deposit requests over here either (waiting on 2)

 

I was just thinking about asking this! Still waiting on my order summary to come in as well. I'm wondering if maybe she just received a high volume of orders.

 

When I ordered last year it took a few days (possiblely a week if my memory serves me correctly) to receive the order summary and deposit request.

 

In retrospect, I think there was that kind of lag time on my first order from them as well, now that you mention it. It’s reassuring that none of us have order summaries yet—I ordered like 20 minutes after orders opened, so I expect if she goes chronologically, I’ll get my order fairly soon!!

We got ours yesterday, too! I'm so excited.

 

I just got mine. Hoooooly that was a heck of a deposit, for two dolls, and almost all of the option parts. It’s paid now, but ouch.

 

The deposit is what kept me away from two haha. Time to eat ramen and read by candlelight for a month Did you get the feral parts? I wanted those pointy toes so bad, but I only wanted the toes so I couldn't justify the whole set this time.

 

Yeppppp that deposit was almost as much as some people’s orders—I got the feral parts in radioactive cupcakes, because my Awful Siren needed claws for sure.

 

I ordered an Urara in Caramel Forest, and any kept it basic so the deposit wasn’t so bad. Where do y’all plan on getting clothes for your Miss Marionette ladies? I love all the pictures on DoDollsDream’s instagram, but I’m not sure where to get things. Do they wear standard SD clothes?

 

My summary came in yesterday! I don't know how it compared in speed to anyone else's, but I did both put down a larger deposit and ask for colour mockups.

@siteblock To my knowledge, they fit regular SD fine. She's a bit shorter in the leg, and the waist is smaller, but overall? Okay. Which suits me fine, since my girl will be spending much of her time in kimono.

 

I just wanted to chime in to express my jealousy for all who made an order I'll have to sit this one out.
I hope that next time around I'll finally get my Miss Ao.

And have you all seen the new „fashion show“ post? Makes it even harder to decide! They all look fab!

 

Kalcia makes clothes for these dolls. And some Feeple60 clothes fit. With regards to shoes, I only have the flat feet and haven't found anything that fits yet unless you don't mind spending over a 100usd on a pair.
