I decided to go ahead and send in a request for a Lullaby Ao in Caramel Forest. It's the same color I ordered last time, but my other dolls (all three of them) have pale skin and this light tan is such a versatile color. It's a little scary trying this size again and spending this amount of money, but I'm excited too! I enjoy seeing every new thing that DoDollsDream comes up with and I want to support her artistry.

@My-eVe - Ooo, a masculine DoDollsDream doll? That would be really fun to see! Probably not for me as a collector (I'm more drawn to the clothing and other accessories available for the girls), but I'm sure that the artist behind DoDollsDream would do something amazing with the idea. She really is so nice to talk to - I've had some questions in the past, and always received a lovely response. I asked her about a new 1/4 line, for example, and she said it was in progress!

 

It's wonderful to see comparison photos of the Marionette girls! I really love the shape of their bodies. That's something I would love to see more in the BJD world.

 

I left it until the last day of the preorder, but I decided to jump in and get a Lullaby Miss Ao in Songbird Garden (the pale green). I love the elegance and posability of the bodies, plus the big elf ears on Lullaby Miss Ao (though I want to make mine a goblin girl ). I don't have any fantasy colours in my doll collection yet, so this is pretty exciting. Now to settle in for the wait!

These photos were the ones that put me over the edge - I just couldn't stop thinking about them. (I love the styling and creativity the maker showcases with these dolls and how they feature other creators so much.)

 

@Rhian - that photo set is so appealing! I also kept going back to the photos and videos of her blank in this color. It makes her look like a precious jade statue. Very tempting indeed!

I ended up choosing Caramel Forest for my Lullaby Miss Ao because I do better with more natural skin tones, but I'm looking forward to seeing more green girls around.

A goblin girl sounds like a great idea for the ears! Personally, I've always avoided elf ears in the past, but I couldn't resist the rest of the face this time. Maybe she'll be an ode to my cats or perhaps just a normal human who happens to have large ears. I'm not sure yet X)

 

@StellaMarigold Caramel forest is a really lovely colour - I honestly had a really hard time choosing the resin colour as well as a head (Charlotta and Margaret were also on my list). Looking forward to seeing your Lullaby Miss Ao as well!

 

@Rhian Maybe it's weird but the name of the different color helped to choose. I love every colors, they're sooooo wonderful but the reason I definitly choose "Strawberry Mousse" is the name. It's sounds like a little french dessert hahaha

I’ve already named her .. Chihiro

I’m hoping to get a face-up from Paulianne and some eyes as well. Not sure of what colour scheme to go with though? Any suggestions?

 

Congrats on chihiro!!! It’s hard to pick a colour scheme because almost anything would look good with that gorgeous purple!

 

@Marvel - Charlotta in Dancing Flowers will be so pretty! Honestly, I don't think you can go wrong with any pastel color. Purples and pinks and even pale greens and blues would look lovely in her eyes or wig. I'm also a big fan of white hair (I think white eyelashes would be stunning with that purple resin).

Maybe there is a flower you'd like to use as inspiration (because of the "Dancing Flowers" name)? Or maybe you could look at the eyes Paulianne has made previously and find a pair you really like (that she might be able to make again in a similar design for you) and plan a concept around them? Or you could possibly take a blank photo of Charlotta into one of those makeup or hair-styling apps and see if you get any ideas from them (I do something similar, but I use Photoshop and paint ideas for wigs, clothes, etc.).

Hello, I've just discovered DoA and I have asked the artist about the size. Here are the responses.

"About sizing - SD10 and SD13 size clothes fit well (especially tops, skirts and dresses - for pants make sure they are stretchy ^^)
SDGr will work if the waist is loose or also elastic, Miss Marionettes have 18cm waist, and SDGr girls 16,5cm ^^"

"I recommend SD16 heels for Miss Marionette tiptoe feet. Most will fit. However, if you prefer sandals or would like the shoe to fit 100% perfectly, I recommend https://www.instagram.com/ursisarna/
She can make custom-designed heels for Miss Marionette."

What are some of the differences between the Marionette line and the Miss Marionette line that you all find that you appreciate, and some of the differences that you're not so fond of.
I know they are different lines, and I am curious about opinions.

Personally, while I like them both, I am more fond of the Miss Marionette line. I appreciate that they have curvier bodies and the head size does seem to be a little more consistent with the overall design of the dolls as compared to their predecessors.
Also, do we know if the Marionette line is still being sold, or is the Miss Marionette line the only SD line from the company still available?

Personnally I don't mind if they are put together.....just not separating two threads with so few people. Btw, it's true that Malgorzata has been too occupied with only two doll lines.

Still waiting for my Magaret, first batch arrived at the beginning of September but now my doll still has no updates

 

Yeah I'm also waiting on my Lullaby Aurelia and actually hopped on the forum to check if there was a waiting thread for this line (couldn't find one tho except this thread?) since I also haven't heared anything since I ordered in may. When I saw that the first batch arrived in september I was also expecting an update since I had paid in full plus just ordered the nude doll. So was getting scared I might have missed the shipping mail from her haha.

It does give me some comfort knowing I'm not the only one with no updates yet, so I don't have to worry and think something went wrong. Here's to hoping we get an update soon tho! Seriously can't wait to get her since the body's and faces are so beautifully sculpted by Do Dolls Dream.

 

I paid on layaway, but bought my doll on day 1 of the preorder, and I haven’t heard anything about shipping yet either! I’m very excited to do her faceup and find out who she’s going to be!

 

I paid on layaway too and finished last month. I emailed and asked her a few weeks ago if she had an estimate on shipping and she said October/November.

I've still got the shipping to pay, I ordered two dolls, not really sure what to expect with that cost wise. Anyone who has ordered before remember what they paid?

 

I just got my email to pay the shipping on my Charlotta on Friday, so hopefully this means everyone else will get theirs soon! I paid 74 EUR to the US.

Furthermore I did message DoDollsDream just to be sure and she replied that packing an shipping continues until january, so that did put my worry to rest even further. Yes that might mean some longer waiting time, but well the dolls are worth it.

I also heared their resin is of astounding quality, can't wait to feel it (this sounds creepy, sorry don't mean it creepy).

 

i just received the email that my lullaby charlotta has been shipped!! she was painted by paulianne dolls as well. i paid a total of 78 euros to ship to the US

I think she’s still waiting on some of the colors to come in. I believe only pale rose, caramel forest and woodland echo have arrived. So that might be causing a delay in shipping for sure.

I purchased a Charlotta w/Lullaby Elf Charlotta extra head in Fading Whisper. I can't wait for her to get here.

 

I'm curious to see pictures of Miss Marionettes once you receive them. I did not sign up for this year's PO but I'm considering Charlotta or Miss Ao if there will be a future release.

 

There's going to be a new preorder for them (plus some new heads) in late January/early February 2025! If you look on Instagram you can find a lot of owner photos (many of them are tagged in DoDollsDream's own account) - in case that helps.

Here's one next to a Maskcat doll (Ronia) - I know you have a Maskcat girl @lutke , so you might find this helpful. They are very close in size: most of the difference is in the legs, although the hands/feet/head are slightly smaller as well.

I absolutely love Maskcat doll's posing, and Miss Marionette measures up very well. The DoDollsDream resin has a bit of texture to it (it feels lovely), making it less slippery/silky than Maskcat, so posing feels a bit tighter rather than as fluid, but the joints work perfectly and hold poses like a rock. Maskcat still has the best elbows (they are just so beautifully smooth to turn) and better wrist/ankle mobility and her legs are more posable due to Miss M's rounder thighs and calves, but the shoulder and neck joints Miss M has are so expressive (I wish every doll had them!).

The Miss Marionette here is Margaret. I ended up selling her (kind of by accident haha - I wanted to sell the head and that turned into a whole-doll sale). But I'm waiting for a Lullaby Ao now in the same color. We'll see if she stays!

Aw I think that would be too early for me, since I'm going to take a little break from resin after this year's last doll. I'm planning the next one in late 2025. Maybe I'll keep an eye on the marketplace.

I just got the shipping notification for my gal (she’s in pale rose, so this makes sense!) €78 to Canada as well—ouch.

it also might be a while before I see her, because there’s talk of rotating strikes in CanPost. I might have figured out who I want her to be though!

 

Congratulations !!! I haven't heard from her since mid-October but she's actually quite nice to respond to sorts of things like estimated delivery time. I suppose dolls with translucent skins would be delivered later since they may have higher default rates.

 

My Charlotta arrived earlier this week! I think she's probably the nicest doll I've owned, and poses perfectly right out of the box. I'm looking forward to the next preorder already!

They're simply so gorgeous and I can't wait for the early 2025 opening... Ursa looks so cute! I'm endlessly excited at the prospect of more catgirls, as per the norm.

Here they are. No face ups yet, they won't be getting them till the new year. I only have the swimsuit, sarong combo that fits but I want fantasy outfits, not exactly sure what tho. I think my woodland echo Charlotta will be getting a brown mohair wig and they're both keeping the eyes they have in.

I really wanted to be much further along with outfits and wigs ect but as always I'm not .

I wanted to let everyone know that I purchased some items from Etsy for the SMD Pear shaped body and they fit my Miss Marionette body quite well. Admittedly, it's only 2 pairs of socks (one below knee, one above knee) and a pair of athletic shorts, but the shorts fit over her ample backside quite nicely and stay in place. Edited to add - I was able to measure earlier than anticipated. Here are the measurements!

C1 - 17.5cm
C2 - 12cm
C3 - 14cm (more like 13.8, but very close to 14cm)
D1 - 8cm
D2 - 16cm

For D1 and D2 I measured right at the mobility thigh line to the middle of the knee cap and then from the middle of the knee cap to the heels. For the C measurements, I measured at the widest point of the section (thigh, calf, knee).

I hope this helps and the socks turn out beautifully!

 

It's always difficult for me to tell what her resin looks like IRL and this helps so much. I absolutely love that pale rose resin. I debated on it last time and am hoping she brings it back for this round. It's so soft and pretty

 

I definitely think Pale Rose will be back! It’s kind of their “ns” shade, so it’s likely to stick around! Granted, I’ve been wrong before, so take what I’m saying with a grain of salt!!

very excited to eventually do a faceup on my pale rose girl. I’m 90% sure I know who she is. Another doll swiped the character she was supposed to be, so I’ve taken some time to learn who she is supposed to be now.

Yeah, I know what you mean! I think in person the woodland echo is a much darker and richer brown, I like it even more than I did in the promo pics.

Ah that's so great, I think I want a woodland echo now, during last preorder, I thought it would be too light according to the photo and finally not buying it.

 

Not sure if you're familiar with iplehouse skin tones but woodland echo is a few shades darker than their light brown skin.

Hello everyone! I’m a little late but my Charlotta arrived on the 15th! Sadly I’m on mobile so I can’t share photos of her on here. She’s absolutely amazing and I love her so much

I’ve sent her to Bunny Face-Up for an artist’s choice, and have a wig coming from Taobao that I’m really excited for. I still need eyes, as the 16mm pair I have are a little too big, so I’m going to try 14mm instead. I also have a purple outfit set from Taobao that fits her beautifully, except the tights

Hopefully I’ll figure out a way to share her on here but for now I just wanted to share my excitement ~

 

I’m looking forward to the March preorder although not sure if one will come home yet. NZD is essentially half a EUR at the moment which makes any SD orders but particularly these eye wateringly expensive. Our household has budget for personal spending but the cap is less than a potential order so I’d be ‘borrowing’ into next year’s budget. (Luckily my partner is flexible with this if we do have the funds on hand. Although it does mean doll would likely be nude/hairless unless I already own things that fit for a year) Especially since I’d want to make the most of the order getting extra hands, head and fantasy parts if offered. Will have to crunch numbers when it comes up. But in the meantime I live vicariously through other owners pics and DDD instagram.

 

My lullaby Aurelia in grey also came in last monday! She was absolutly wortel the wait, the bluesharp frey resin is even more pretty in real life, so deep. This doll really blows me away. Always been fan of peakswoods but these Miss Marionette aurelia is on a complete other level, the sculpting is so pronounced and detailed! And the weight of the doll is also so nice and heavy, she really became my favorite doll right away. The only problem i have is that she is so beautifull already without a face up and clothes (and even a wig, since her ears are also so well sculpted) that I almost want to keep her this way haha. All tho i did try a wig and dress on her and that also looks pretty. Will post some pictures this evening, even tho the pictures I have don't do her justice. It probably wont be her final dress, was maybe thinking about a more open styled dress so her body is better visable. And more of a dreamy misty vibe. Really dont know what I will do for the face up tho, i had something in mind a few months ago, but that dissapeared a bit from my head.

@Buzzibee the doll is absulutly worth the price plus like I stated personally the dolls already look so beautifull naked so maybe these dolls are actually maybe the best dolls to have naked for a year ;p which doll were you eyeballing?

 

I’m also looking at the march preorder! I ended up rehoming my Charlotta, as another doll snapped up her character, but I now have my eyes on Ursula—I’m a sucker for vampire teeth. I’m definitely keeping my eyes out for what fantasy colours they have next order!
