I gave the first doll away (to my parents. I guess you never get too old to want to give your parents stuff that you've done yourself...hehe). I made another for myself and found out that a tighter stringing made her pose a lot better. This should probably be an obvious fact, but I haven't tried to string a doll before making this myself, so I find out everything on the go. New and better Junku: And then I've tried to make her the faceup I've intended all along for this doll. She's supposed to be some kind of sweet, Tim Burton-esque zombie girl, but alas my faceup skills are limited so she looks more 80% porcelain doll and 20% kind-of-zombie-like... Well, I'll just have to try again. (it's my first time applying eye lashes on a doll...it shows I guess... I'll have to find some much smaller lashes as these were too long. I trimmed them down a bit, but now they just look like someone had a vicious battle with their mascara...) And lastly, I've been experimenting with adding colour to the resin. I've made the parts for a blue doll. I'll have to sand her down and string her to see how it works out. (I wish the sanding part was as fun as sculpting or casting...sigh...) Det last picture shows the colour as it looks in real life. THe colour is quite "massive", so it'll be interesting to see how it looks with a faceup and all.
The blue on her is pretty! I like blue dolls Also, sorry if youve said already and ive just missed it, but how tall is she?
FastFeet > Thanks. Glad you like the colour petitefilou > Thanks. And I'm not sure I ever mentioned her final height. It's 32 cm. Bruny > Thanks . Hehe, I may try to change her faceup into being just a tad less sweet.
I managed to finish my blue version of Junku, yay And I've found out that sanding coloured resin is no easy task. I did the rough sanding with a dremel and then sanded after by hand for smoothness (wet-sanded), but she's still got some small white marks here and there... well, guess I could make it better if I wasn't to lazy to do so right now I'm happy with how she's turned out, even though my faceup skills are still somewhat lacking and doing a faceup on a blue doll is even harder. Must practise more. The annoying dot between here eyes is a small impurity from the mold that has been captured inside the resin. Grrr... *shakes fist at impurity* (well, actually there are several of those all over her, but this one is more annoying because of the placement) Standing: Sitting: With some clothes, eyes and a wig. None of it is intended for her, but I haven't got her proper wig etc yet.
