Discussion Dollzone Pets - Cat and Sheep

I'm a Capricorn born in the Year of the Sheep/Goat, so I'm really happy DZ stepped up to make these. It means I don't have to wait another...what is it, 7 years, for another Sheep year to come around...and hope Elfdoll or someone does a zodiac animal that year. Plus, I could always add horns to the little guy's head and make him a goat kid! Too bad about the other two being OT--the elephant was weirdly intriguing--but the cat and sheep are definitely the cutest of the four. My Baha is going to be thrilled to have someone smaller than her to boss around. I sense that her army of minions may be starting to assemble...

Do you know yet, Moggie, if the outfits will also be available separately, or will they only be sold as fullsets? Can I assume they'll be in the same skintones as the foxes and rabbits?

 

(Ssshh! I like the elephant best, even if it is OT.) The Egyptian cat is very cute too.

 

I just got the notification on these last night and they are all cute in their own way. I really want the elphant. But the sheep in the dark clothing is very cool. Way to go DZ.

The sheep's face is so cute! I love his droopy eyes....but I really wish he had hooved hands and feet instead of human hands and feet.

 

According to Featherfall, they will be sold by themselves, which means you don't have to buy another doll to get them.

It makes good sense to me. Personally, I think the sheep looks a lot like the DZ fox, which is considered on-topic. The cat also seems to resemble several other on-topic cat dolls. The elephant, however, looks like it could be a porcelain figurine, and the dog doesn't even look like a dog, let alone like an ABJD. These are just my guesses, of course!

 

The dog had the most 'asian' look. Very classic china look. But whatever.

I love the Elephant and will have to pick one up eventually. The sheep reminds me of something but I can't remember. It's from a cartoon somewhere.

I can't decide whether I love the sheep or the OT elephant best. ;o; They're all really adorable! But sheep the first's fullset cracks me up - it's irresistably evil. XD

 

Faceup and clothes can make a big difference.

 

The OT dog reminds me of a sharpey (SP?).

I think its wierd if two are off topic and they are all made by the same doll company and are all pretty similar in body type. Kind of wierd if we can't even mention the elephant. Its just like the cat and sheep only with a different head.

I suspect that's why it was ruled out. Dolls which looks like porcelain figures don't fit in with the Asian BJD aesthetic, regardless of whether they fit the Asian figures in general aesthetic.

I'm totally creating an alternate world for Ödi and Aliz, and eventually Eliza will travel and visit.... and anyways, the more animals to populate my little world, the better I don't care if certain molds are OT, they'll totally be on topic in my little world ^_^ and to my understanding, OT dolls are still allowed in photos where on topic dolls are the focus

Oh, so it's OK to talk about the sheep here now then? Yes, I too have fallen under the spell of MAGIC SHEEP. He's just so adorably dorky. I hope he doesn't want to sacrifice some humans to get back at us for all the ritual slaughter of lambs in history

The sheep on picture number 2 is making me smile. He is wonderful....

 

Are they availlable for a long period of time or is it just a time thing... I don't see it anywhere that they are limited but.... you never know. Better be safe than sorry.

 

OK I'm still totally clueless about the Magic Sheep fullset. The nude sheep + the magicians outfit as offered on Featherfall seems to be significantly less than the price of the fullset, so what else are you getting with the fullset? The star faceup on your sheep? Does he have any more faceup than just that? I can't tell from the picture at all ????
I also can't figure out why some vendors like Dolls and Friends are only offering some but not all of the fullsets. And Junkyspot who's a Dollzone rep doesn't seem to have them up at all??

Can anyone shed any light on this?

 

They just went on sale yesterday.... so. completely random guess, but maybe not everyone has found out what kind of stock will be available yet? that doesn't really make sense though....

 

I don't see dollzone offering them, or maybe I'm just blind.

bunny - I think he has more than just the star. His lips and eyes are painted as well.

 

The full sets come with glass eyes, makeup and outfits.
I ordered the full set sheep and the pierrot elephant.

OK, so is there anybody in North America selling the Magic Sheep fullset? I really don't want to have to pay 45 dollars shipping to get one from far away. I asked Featherfall some questions last night because they're running the free shipping special and I could add another doll to the order if need be to reach the limit, but I haven't heard back yet.

 

I saw then on Ebay but I don't know if the seller is in the usa.

Thanks Geri, but all that comes up on there for me is Moggies. I ordered a bunch of small MSD things from him just now, that he is the only one who sells, but the doll would be way high shipping on top of everything else, because I think he ships from Australia...but if he is the ONLY one offering the magic sheep fullset then I guess I will have to go for that.

 

as a Chinese who had lived in China for 20 years I should point out the outfit of the dog is classic Janpanese style

 

Don't e-mail them but post on their forum, each time I posted on their forum I got an answer. But I did mail them a couple of times and never got an answer, maybe my mail got lost but they will reply in their forum.

 

Does anyone know how soon these will be ready to ship? I pre-ordered a full-set one (ot), and am wondering how soon I will have to choke up the balance. lol

 

Actually, its the other way around. Forums we only check every few days, while we reply manically to email all day. Ace, I actually replied to all your emails myself, so you should check your junk settings.


Re the 'Magic' Sheep-

I'm Jewish. I'm Featherfall's Owner. When DZ decided they wanted to release a Dark Magician /kinda demonic looking version of the sheep and plaster the Jewish Star of David on it ( despite my protest and attempts to explain why its horribly inappropriate) we decided not to carry it.

The Sheep you can get, the clothes you can get. We will not be carrying their Magician sheep fullset.

As for other agents - well, each company / agent decides which ones they will carry, and the reasons. There's also been backlash on several mailing lists about the star ( making some wary of carrying it) and as a couple of the pets were considered off- topic here, that might've put others off from carrying them. Not sure.

So, hope that answers that. No, we will not be changing our minds in this.

I'll admit that I did wonder if the Magic Sheep fullset was being sold less widely because the symbol was found inappropriate by some stores or in some markets (although I'll also admit I did not recognize the symbol for what it was right off and mistook it for a pagan symbol) so I appreciate your addressing the issue head-on. I may end up buying the plain sheep from you anyway, I am still deciding what I want to do.

 

They must have just added it as I was on there two nights ago checking the total for a different item layaway, and they only had the other sheep fullset listed at that time. Thanks for letting me know.

 

I really like the sheep actually, there's something about it's face that just gives it a very alien? look.. It's awesome.

My guess is that Dollzone doesn't understand that religious symbolism on a demonic sheep could be offensive to some people. I'm not getting the sheep (my little guy is ot), but if I did, I would remove the star.
