Reminder Discord - Image links expire in 24 hours!

The Moderation Team has noticed an increase in the number of members attempting to host images for their sales posts on Discord.

Members should be aware that there is a consistent issue preventing any images being hosted on Discord servers from displaying here. Changes made to Discord earlier this year is causing images linked to outside sites (hotlinking) to expire in 24 hours. This means that after 24 hours pass, your images will no longer work.

Hotlinking causes undue load on a site's bandwidth and is therefore usually discouraged and is forbidden on DoA.

Additionally, newer users of the internet may not be aware that there is also an issue with embedded images -- That is, when a site displays your image embedded in a specifically formatted display page, you cannot just take the url for that page from the top of the screen and try to use it as an image url.

It will include various formatted elements that are not compatible with third-party displaying using Image codes. Any dedicated image hosting site and any site that allows for sharing of images (not hotlinked) will have an option to capture the correct BBcodes around just the image itself.
