Hello! This is my first post on here, sorry if I’m doing it wrong. How well would a Dikadoll head on a Loongsoul body work? Specifically their 68-70cm size. I love Dika’s head sculpts but not so much their body ones, and Loongsoul looks like they have similar enough measurements. My worry is that the neck is apparently 1cm smaller, will that affect the fit? Also, will the white skins resin match? I’ve combed through the threads but all the comparisons I’ve found were from 2017 at the latest, so I’m not sure if it’s up to date. I’ve never owned a BJD but am looking to buy one soon. Any help would be appreciated! (Also- if anyone has Dikadoll Alfred with his default faceup, I’d love to see photos!)
I don't have the specific hybrids you're talking about, but I have seen Dika/Loongoul hybrids before (It was Loongsoul head and Dika body). The sizes are comparable and they actually look pretty good together. You want to make sure that you get the closest resin colour match and just make sure the neck circumferences match. The Dika "pure white" is the closest to the Loongsoul "normal white" (sometimes called "Wall white" because... well, it's really, really white. Lifeless-ly white). If you get the Dika "white", you're looking at Loongsoul "rosy white" (or light rose). As far as the neck goes, if the neck is 1cm smaller than the neck hole, you can consider using a connector or sueding to make the fit better. But if the neck hole is 1cm smaller, you'll need to sand down the neck to fit. There will always be a little bit of a deviation from the officially listed measurements (due to the hand-finishing process), but the aberration shouldn't be more than 1-2mm. I hope this helps! Planning the first doll is always exciting! Good luck!
Good to hear that the size comparison works out well at least! Yes, I figured I’d have to do a little bit of sueding, unfortunately. I was just sitting here fingers crossed that I wouldn’t. I didn’t even consider Loongsoul’s pink resin as a match for Dika’s WS. That’s a whole new rabbithole to look into now. I want to avoid the pure white resin because it’s, like you said, a little lifeless. But glad to hear that there’s still a match that can be made between the two! Thank you so much, you really helped a lot! It really is exciting researching everything to finally get into a hobby I’ve been wanting to for years. Have a good one!
