DIKA Doll discussion

Jan 6, 2010

1. Thank you so much for the advice! :) I'll just use some masking tape/plastic bags to bind up the loose elastic while I'm spraying MSC after I get the arms off - Wu was strung with some incredibly thick elastic, it's a real challenge to get anything loose! When I took his foot off, the elastic didn't immediately snap up through his leg like it does with my Hound.

2. Hey all, couple of questions --

Anyone have a 70cm XueHua? I'd love to see him, blank or faceup-ed, straight-on and all angles.

Anyone care to comment on the 70cm 3-piece torso posability? And the posability of the doll overall?

Thanks!

3. Anyone know if the 70cm heads will fit on the 65cm (1/3 scale) boy bodies?

4. @Rabbit-moon you have him too? Pictures anywhere??? I have never seen another one! I love his little teeth too!

5. Hi Molliebean! Yes, I have a Vampire Ruber in normal yellow. But, Im a bad owner. I love this guy, but I've only taken one picture of him. I still need to get him a body.

He borrowed a DollFamily-A 63cm boy body in this picture. Just a note: The resin match was not good. HappyHouse warned me that DollFamily's resin colors can vary from batch to batch. This body came out a dark yellow. Dikadoll resin is lighter, and actually closer to Volks normal.

6. I'm interested in pictures of XueHua and Warren. Hoping some will come along... :3

7. Maple Squad XueHua, I can provide :3

Here is my new boy's box opening thread or you could visit my flickr to see more pictures of him.

I must say, I love the 3-part torso's "clicking" posing system. Haven't played with it too much yet, but it shows wonderful potential.

Even though he lacks a faceup (soon! He's shipping out next week for one), I love XueHua's face, especially his profile.

8. Ooh, thank you so much, mikasomah!

I saw his pictures in the links you posted, and he looks super poseable. :D
The clicking joint torso is interesting too. Is he really heavy?

9. Not a problem ;) I like sharing my dollies.

He is quite amusing to pose, and doesn't have the tendency to fall into 'girly' poses - my friend's AOD body does this all the time and it bothers me so!

The clicking is wonderful! Each piece has a few "clicks" forward and backwards, giving him a lovely range of motion. And to attest to their balance, I was showing my mother, and clicked him all the way over into a bowing position, both pieces clicked as far as they would go, and he stood like a rock with no supports. I was thoroughly impressed, and I'm disappointed in myself for not snapping a picture.

I cannot even fathom the 5 piece torso. I can't decide if it would make for heavenly posing, or if it would be too much of a good thing and wonk out the posability.

As for how heavy he is - he definitely has some weight to him. He is no where near EID level, but he's pretty solid. I'd guess he's about 3-4 pounds? Don't hold me to that, I'm really bad at guessing weights. XD

10. I'm very new to dolls and ordered my first doll from dika doll. (rabbit girl). Now i'm wondering if someone bought her and can show me some pictures of her with a custom face-up and maybe with different hair (not the pink one). I hope i can ask all my questions i have :) Does someone know if dollmore's dresses etc. fits the dika doll body (60 cm) + head? And what eye size do i need for her? I'm just very confused about the size i need for shoes, outfits, eyes and wigs.

I have already seen this entry about her http://angeldolls.co.uk/blog/?p=750 and this was one of the reason why i decided to buy her :)

11. So, I saw the Monika mold today and I'm sorely, sorely tempted! Does anyone else have this gorgeous girl? Any tips/critiques of the 1/4 size dikadoll bodies?

12. This thread is so quiet! D:

But hopefully, someone can answer this question - what size eyes do your 73cm boys have? My Xue Hua came with beautiful 16mm blue eyes, but there are obvious gaps at the sides of his eyes where the whites don't reach...Anyone else have this problem?

13. I have another question. I received my first doll from dikadoll but i do not know how to change the hands, feet and eyes. Is there a instruction? I have the 60 cm rabbit girl.

14. Hey, vervain. I'd be happy to help you, but I worry about going off-topic. DoA has tutorials on how to change the limbs, as well as replacing eyes. Just use the Search feature up top. If you still have problems, feel free to send me a Private Message and I will help you as best I can. :) And congratulations on your rabbit girl!

15. hello dear, do you mean the eye socket is long and narrow?

16. Oh, thank you for posting him Rabbit-moon!!! He is gorgeous! Can't tell too much about his body in the pic, so he looks good to me!

17. It's very long width wise, not narrow like the Zura sculpt. I've decided to get some custom Captured in Glass eyes, with 18mm size whites and 16mm size irises. Hopefully they work better. :)

18. Has anyone here seen the latest 70cm Dikadoll sculpt? He's called "Summer." I fell head over heels in love when I stumbled across him over Labor Day weekend -- the new sculpt was released September 1. I decided this guy will make the perfect mate for the girl doll I ordered earlier. So, I'm on another waiting list now, and the order won't go out until the end of the month. Sigh! Anyway, if you want to see a quiet, attractive male that your girls will fight over, check him out! Link text.

19. Lsesstudio - I know what you mean! I have been eyeing the Autumn sculpt since they have been released with much contemplation. Love the photo set style for these guys too. :3

20. Thank you so much for posting this!! I was also having trouble until I read your post. =)

21. I was having so much trouble with the headcap at first too! I thought it was the strongest magnet in the world, until... xD

I got my Lola early this year, but I've been away, so I wasn't able to do anything with her until now... and I just stayed up all night giving her a faceup! ^.^ (Bear with me, it's only my third time doing a faceup ._.)

She's in the pure white skin (which, by the way, matches very nicely with Bobobie/Resinsoul white... it's paper white!) and she's going to be an icy little snow rabbit ;)

22. Oh, I love her faceup - you did a great job! She's nicely done and elegant, can't wait to see her fully dressed and wigged. : )

23. Oh, thank you very much! :D I think that part will take a bit more time... dolly layaways eating up all the funds! xD

24. It happens when the doll has very much long width eye socket^^b
I don't have Zura, but I have a Bluefairy Kyle who has the same problem...the official eye size is 14mm...but the eye socket width is long, and it's half close eyes, you can not put 14mm or 16mm glasses/acrylic eyes tight ...
finally, I use Soom silicon eyes 16mm. It's soft and flexible to fill the eye socket

25. Sorry but this is me again :) I wonder if someone can tell me how flexible the female 1/3 body is? I mean... I have the body but it is my first doll and i wonder if all bodies feel the same. Would you say the dikadoll body is the most flexible one or is there a another one that is more flexible? I'm just unhappy with the sitting pose. Everytime i try to use the sitting pose, it looks like she can not really sit well. I thought the body of bjd doll is more smooth but maybe it is just a visual trick, because of the smooth look. For me the body is very "restive" :/

26. I know someone has a Murong because I've seen some awesome pics, but does anyone have Batian? I am all about that face - he's great :D I want both those boys, & DikaDoll Lin as well :D

27. here is some batian's pics

28. Hi hi,

I was wondering what you guys thought of Dikadoll's 70cm guy bodies. I like two of their newer boys, but I'm really not sold on the body design. I'm more interested in hearing about the 3-joint torso than the 5-joint, but either is OK. It might end up being a moot point, since I'm considering a gray or tan boy, but I thought I'd ask anyway.

What do you think of the quality of the dolls in general?
How flexible are the 70cm bodies? Do they need a lot of work (sueding and wiring) to get them to hold poses or are they really solid right out of the box?
Do they come with sanded seams?

Anyone have a pic of one of the 70s with a 60cm girl? I'd like to see a comparison.

Thanks in advance.

29. I had a 3-joint 70 body(For my IOS doll), I think the quality is good. The body is a little bit slim and is easy tohold poses.
If you like Muscle body, you may not like Dika's 70cm body.

30. Kymera - I posted this earlier, but here's what I think of the 3-piece torso posing:

"He is quite amusing to pose, and doesn't have the tendency to fall into 'girly' poses - my friend's AOD body does this all the time and it bothers me so!

I was thoroughly impressed, and I'm disappointed in myself for not snapping a picture."

I found today that with shoes it's a little more here or there with posing, some shoes help, some kill the balance, as is usual.

At first, I thought the 3-piece torso was weird and would wonk out the posing ability, but since I got my boy in a trade I thought I would sell the Dikadoll body and buy a different company, but I absolutely love it now. The only thing I would have to complain about is that its very difficult to restring his arms, and most of the chest piece is solid so it's hard to maneuver the string inside it.

Quality wise, the resin is quite thick, and has a nice weight to it. The feel is very nice, not as 'toothy' as other companies. The detail, especially on the hands and abs, is quite nice. It also comes with nice thick elastic, not wimpy skinny stringing. And I can't find any seams on him, but if it was sanded, I can't tell where, which is good.

The only drawback aesthetically is that the body does tend to look lean, as the proportions are very long height wise. But I think that it works for my character, so I guess it depends on your preferences.

Hope that helps! And because he's finally complete, here's a (somewhat crappy) picture of Hayden, my Xue Hua:

31. Does anyone have "70CM大叔【迟】"? http://www.dkdoll.com/productsen.asp?id=132 I can't read Chinese so I don't know what his name is. Their pictures aren't very helpful in telling what the doll looks like at different angles, let alone what he looks like beyond a face-shot. And there's no price. Is he sold out? I'd like to get better pictures of him. He's on ebay so I could buy him there if not directly from DK.

32. Hi Fin...
left hand corner - select English button....
I found this:
http://www.dkdoll.com/productsen.asp?id=131

He appears to be called K77. He uses the 70cm body.

Also catas' news thread annocement has him listed as Chi:
http://www.denofangels.com/forums/s...doll-Summer-Event-new-1-4-girl-Monica-Release!

Hope this helps

33. I'm curious, has anyone ordered the 70cm Autumn or Summer and have any owner photos to share? I am really taken with Autumn, but I'm still so torn on the body sculpt. I really wish the heads could be ordered separately.

34. They might release the heads separately in the future. I haven't heard anything that says they won't be sold separately.

35. I am glad that there is a thread of these beautiful dolls!! (I was sure there was one :) ) I am thinking of buying a 70 cm Senior Wu. I do not know if I should buy him with or without the body that has 5 parts in the chest. Or with the normal body (3 parts in the chest). Does annybody has that luxery problem too? I think I must go for the more parts. On the pictures(of their website) you see how they poses.

36. I have the same problem. I have already a DikaDoll Girl. Now i decided to buy Autumn (not now but maybe later) with the 5 part body. But i think the more parts it has, the more you can pose your doll. I think the 30+ is worth.

37. I think it is worth it. But I am not going to buy the jointed hands. So now I have to save.. Hope I can buy him for chistmas.

38. My wife said she read somewhere he's called "Chi," but I'd like to see some full body pictures and can't find any. I was hoping someone here owned him, but I guess not! I might have to take a gamble. His expression is so angsty in their preview, though the doll without its faceup looks just sleepy. Oh, I'm just not sure..

39. A lot of a character can be seen in face ups...they may have chosen that style of face up to show his versitility. If you were to purchase him you could request that face up. Just ask an agent that's what they are there for

You have a choice of two bodies:
3-part torso body
5-part torso body

They are more slender than others in the same height range. Similar with Dollzone 70cm bodies which means those are the clothes they can wear.

Hope this helps

40. My DikaDoll dealer told me that a custom face-up is not possible. ?

41. Isn't the one in the pics the default?

42. Yes, I saw those too. I just wanted to see this specific doll with more poses and shots, like most other sites show. I'm starting to think that what I first saw as a furrowed brow (angst!) is actually the shadow of his bangs on his eyebrows. I thought he was making a super frowny face and that's what attracted me to him. Now I am not so sure..

43. Yes it is but before I have bought her, I asked for a custom face-up (this summer), made by dikadoll. And my plan is to buy a male doll from dikadoll in the near future. Just wondering because in the info it says that dikadoll accept custom face-ups ^.^

44. I had just finished designing what I hoped my next doll to look like when I saw the 70cm Mu Rong.
He is absolutely perfect for what I wanted, like they had seen my picture and then just materialized him.
Now to start saving up*_*.

45. Hi, I was wondering if anyone bought any of the 73cm boys on Alice Collections? Any review or whatsoever? :3

46. I might be buying a Shall from Alice Collections.. If they do the Christmas event. :3

47. Noobish question- where does one find the prices for Dikadolls? I was looking at the bodies and the hands and the only way I could figure is if you email them as you would to order. Is there a price list or other US dealers who list prices?

48. Just passing through to spam my Ruber Vampire..Omg...I love this guy so much!:aheartbea
[IMG]

49. I am looking for pictures of DikaDoll Autumn that aren't company photos.

50. I have a question for those of you with the 70cm dolls. How tall are they? Since what the company says isn't always the actual measurement, as I've discovered. I'm hoping to take advantage of the winter promotion they've got going on. :)

51. I haven't been able to find any either. ;_; I'm wondering if he hasn't been out long enough yet for owner photos to show up?

52. tangled-threads The 70 cm boys measure at about 73cm when all is said and done. :)

53. Awesome, thanks so much. Trying to get the right height differences when putting characters into doll form can be so tricky.

54. I'm pretty sure that's the case. I think Autumn and Summer were released around late August or so.

55. Don't I know it XD Dika boys are really lanky, but it works with certain characters, I think. My boy rocks its well, IMHO.

Picture Reference! (sorry for its phone-level crappiness and dorm room clutter in the background...)

56. Thanks for the picture. :) I have either 4 or 5 characters I'm trying to recreate in doll form. The tallest is supposed to be about 7' tall (he's a one handed, red haired elf) and I'm leaning toward either Summer or MuRong v.2, I think. He needs to be on the lanky side as well. Now to just casually mention to my partner that hey, I want to put a doll on layaway, is that okay.

57. I just fell in love with Autumn! I hope there are some owner pics around soon!
Does anybody know if they plan to sell just his head sometime in the future? I'd like to hybrid him so he's not QUITE so tall. :)

58. Can someone post a picture of one of the 73 cm boys next to a 58 cm girl?

59. Hey guys, I haven't seen a lot of Dikadoll around. And I notice that the company offers tan skin for all of their dolls. The problem is they don't show the actual pictures of those tan dolls, does anyone have them?

Also, I think Jinse is an interesting sculpt. But after searching for him everywhere, I couldn't find any owner's picture of him. I can only find the company's pictures. Does anyone have him as well? If you don't mind showing him off, I would really appreciate it. :) Thanks a bunch.

BTW, I think DikaDoll made some very nice sculpts, I hope the company will gain more popularity in the future.

60. Aw, and here I was hoping to find owner pics of Autumn but it looks like no one has him yet! XD I've been eying him for awhile now too. I wish he was a tad shorter (like regular 70cm) but I'd deal with the extra couple of cm. Since they are so skinny he would be a lot easier to clothe than my broad SSDF is.
