Resolved *dies* What do I do? -FINAL UPDATE! Received!-

Mar 15, 2006

1. So, I bought a Dollzone boy white skin Xi a few weeks ago. Here is the auction:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5665312416&sspagename=ADME:L:RTQ:US:1
As of yesterday, I still had not recieved him. So, I dropped the seller an email asking about him. She emailed me back saying that she mailed him one the 6th of march, and that he was delivered on the 9th. Apparently he was signed for by a T. Vincent? I don't know a T. Vincent! I'm a C. Jones. My husband is a J. Jones...No Vincents!
My question is...What in the name of the gods do I do? Obviously it went to the incorrect address, even though I made certain to give the seller the correct one. Someone has my doll! If they opened him up thats against the freaking law...Becuase I know for sure that it wasn't addressed to no T. Vincent.
I'm at a loss...Do I demand a refund? My month for a paypal refund is up on the 23rd. Do I demand a replacement doll? *dies* Man this sucks...

2. First, I would ask the seller to give you the address she sent the doll to. And, since it appears she received a confirmation of delivery, send you the number/link that corresponds to the confirmation. This will determine A) where your doll went and B) if it truly was delivered (not that we are questioning that, but it's always safe. Further, if your doll was delivered to the WRONG address, the seller is the one in error and should make attempts to contact the shipping service she used and/or the person who received the doll. However, if I were you, I would attempt to contact the person who received the doll as well.

My first task would be to try to track down the doll that was delivered and claim it.

If that does not work, you should work with the seller to determine how you would go about getting a replacement or refund. Assuming it was the seller's error that is.

3. I deffinately used the right address when I sent payment. I selected my current address from the drop down menu, not only that but I wrote it over again in the little comment box paypal provides. I did that JUST to make sure she used it. The zip code she gave me suggests she sent to to my old address in Hagerstown. How, I don't know, since I clearly made sure to have it sent to my new address. I emailed her back asking what address she shipped to. If she emails me back and says its the apt. I used to live in...What do I do? Do I go over there and knock on the door? Do I call the Landlord and talk to him? ...Cripes, this is rediculous...

4. I called the local PO here and they are investigating it. She said shes going to find out as much as they can until the seller gets back to me with the exact address they used. I hope this works out...u_u;;

5. You don;t happen to live in a block of flats, do you? Sometimes at our flats, the postman will ring all the doorbells until he gets an answer, and drop off packages with other people in the building- sometimes even ones that need signing for! Itโ€™s really annoying because he shouldnโ€™t do it, but is there any chance some-one else in your building might have your doll? :sweat

6. I would use the refund as a last resort, but definitely use it if you have to.

7. I used to, but not anymore. Now I live in one side of a duplex, so half a house. And our post man more often than not will insert the little pink slip into our mailbox instead of carrying a package to our door. Hes a lazy little buggar. I've caught him doing it twice.

8. I might now how it was sent to the wrong address - have you updated eBay itself with the right address? When I send payments through eBay's system, it gives the seller the address I have listed as my main address. I have the option of giving them an address when it links through to Paypal, but the address eBay gives is given much more priority.

• x 1
9. did you try looking in the phone book to see if there is a T. Vincent living around you?

i wish you luck in getting your boy

10. Unfortunatly, there are multiple places in eBay to update your address (at least last time I did it) as well as Paypal.

11. Well, that is what happened. I never updated my eBay address...I just always used the Paypal address. I always assumed Paypal would be just fine. I didn't even know eBay sent sellers an address. So what do I do now? I'm going to call the Post Office again tomorrow on my way to work, but what if they can't get ahold of the person that signed for my package? Isn't that illeagle? Especially if he/she opened it? *GOD FORBID* Should I wait? I only have until the 23rd to get a refund. And am I even entitled to it now? Is this my fault? This is absolutely horrid...

12. I would contact your old landlord and see if you can get some contact information for the tenant that is currently residing in your old place. That way you can get in touch with them, explain what happened in the mixup and maybe arrange for a pickup time or what not.

You might find that they signed for the package without even seeing who it was for. I know that a lot of times the postman at my old house would hold the package and not even show it to me until I signed for it. Meaning I didn't know if it was for me or not. And if that is the case than Mr./Ms. Vincent may not have even known that it wasn't for them.

13. Did you leave a forwarding address when you moved? If you did, your package may have been rerouted to your new address without actually being delivered to the old one. That does slow it down quite a bit.

I had the same problem with my first Ebay order, as I hadn't updated the address.

You should note that in most cases Paypal requires the order to be sent to the shipping address they have on file (usually the same as the billing address). This is to avoid fraud and protects you, so that someone doesn't charge to your account and have the goods sent to themselves.

Also, not all Ebay sellers read the notes attached to Paypal, I've found.

14. I did indeed leave a forwarding address...But it seems that the T. Vincent person still signed for my package...

15. Well if a big package came to my door needing to be signed for, I'd probably sign for it anyway, cause I was confused O_o;; You should check the phone book and try to call them. Tell them the package is yours and if you're close enough, can stop by with ID to pick it up. Maybe they'll agree? I'm sure they wouldn't have a problem giving it to you if you can prove it's yours.

16. I did the EXACT same thing when I moved to VA. I updated my Paypal address, but not my eBay address, and some things I had bought went to my old address. Luckily, my old address is my boyfriend's mom's house, so she just held the items for me.

It seems you're taking all the right steps to get your package back, and I would have signed for something, too, if it had come to my door.

"You might find that they signed for the package without even seeing who it was for. I know that a lot of times the postman at my old house would hold the package and not even show it to me until I signed for it."

This has happened to me, too. They really ought to show the package before asking for a signature.

17. Well in the end I should think it is the POs fault for letting somebody who is not you sign for something. So you should be able to file a claim with them and get your money back. After all there was extra money spend to make sure it got to the right person and then it didn't!

18. Keep a close eye on your Paypal deadline and, if you don't have your doll, do file a claim just to get your foot in the door. I'm sorry, Seller, I know it's not your fault either, but the problem is that when dealing with the shipping SNAFUs, the sender is usually the one with all the power. Usually, the sender is the one who has to initiate the search, the sender is the one who has to file an insurance claim, and the sender is the one who gets the money back if the item just can't be retrieved and the insurance is paid out.

In the meantime, keep in contact with your seller, and hopefully this can be worked out quickly.

19. Im having the same problem.
I checked the tracking site today, and it told me my delivery had been recieved at 9:10 this morning.
One problem...I dont have it. Or a peice of card saying 'We tried but you wern't home...' or anything.

Im freaking out...hopefully when I call my local dispatch office tomorrow Ill sort things out, but it kinda bites that I should have my dolls with me right now...

20. Does it say on the tracking site that someone has signed for the package? It should show a digital signature if so! I thought it was strange when it said they had tried to deliver my package because I didn't get a card through the door either - turns out they were trying to deliver to my neighbour! :sweat

I hope everything gets sorted out for you both! :atremblin

21. I have a few days until my Paypal deadline. I called the PO again today and they said I should go over there and see if they will give him back. If not, let them know, because keeping my poor boy would be against the law. I really don't want to go over there...I'm nervous. What if they are douche bags? >.<

On a lighter note, the seller said shes sending me some extra stuff for meh boy. *shrug* Hopefully I can get this settled tomorrow and won't have to file a refund...

22. I'de say go over there and ask. My old CH Jun Azrael was delivered to the wrong house. I went over to retrieve him, the worst I got was the guy asking for ID so he could make sure I was the person who the box was addressed to.

What do you have to lose? If he says he doesnt have it, tell them the post office recommended you go retrieve your package, and the tracking provided said it would be here. The end. If they argue, call the police and get the package back by force. You paid for it, it is rightfully yours, regardless of who signed for it,

23. Exactly. You really don't have anything to lose. Just think of having your doll after all of this trouble and being able to hug it and love it, and not having to get a refund and being bummed out. I think it's well worth it.

Whatever you decide to do, good luck <3

24. I'm sure the people will be a lot nicer than you think, generally things turn out for the better! I am an optimist! Actually, I probably would have been over there the moment I knew where he was asking for my package XD Who cares if they think you're nuts, it's your mail and you have every right to it <3<3<3

25. Yup i agree with GoddessVirge, be optimistic about this.
Something like this has happened to me as well with a registered article. I live in a block of flats and it's dangerously common that the post off card (to collect the article) gets delivered to the wrong box. But what happened to me was not only did it get delivered to the wrong box but the person who found it in the box, realising it wasn't the correct address, just threw the card onto the FLOOR instead of putting it back into my letterbox!!! The nerve!! >< grr

But anyway, Luckily i had some nice retirees living in the lower flats who go walking everyday, saw the card and kept it in a safe place until i came over to collect it. I was sooo relieved.. ><

I think for a doll of that price, you should chase it up till the end? it's quite expensive. ><
I noticed that it was from Shanghai China, and being asian myself, sometimes their english is not very good? They may have gotten it wrong ><

All the best in watever you do, and if you need advice we are always here for you =)

26. No offense, but I wouldn't have waited this long to go to my old apartment and get my doll back. @_@ The moment I found out that the zipcode was the old address, I would have been over there knocking on the door. It's possible that the guy still has the package, hoping you'll come looking for it since he wouldn't have your new address (if he's a normal, nice guy).

And if he threw it out, then he's legally responsible for it, anyways. o.o;

27. No offense taken. I just found out about this on the 15th. I had no idea. I thought the seller hadn't shipped him yet. I'm going over there today. Would have gone sooner, but a girls gotta work. During the day I have my son to look after, and I work 3-11pm. If this person is shady, I'd rather not have my baby there. And by the time I get home, its midnight. I wouldn't want someone at my door at midnight...So I waited for my first day off. And I'm going over there when my husband gets back from his errands.

28. No, I understand. ^_^ I'm just really possessive over my dollies, I guess. XD

29. Toccyn - if you are nervous about going by yourself you can usually call your local pd, explaind the situation, make sure to mention the $ of what the people have so the police take you seriously and in a lot of cases they will ask an officer to accompany you np.

30. Definitely, or even if you have a friend that could go with you. You don't have to go by yourself.

31. Well, I went and they weren't home! >.< I called the PO again and relayed my plight to them AGAIN...And they said call back tomorrow and talk to a certain person. Boy howdy this is beginning to become a pain in my ass crack.

If the package cannot be claimed by me, should I refund through Paypal, or the PO? The PO obviously didn't bother to put my forwarding address on the package...So thats their fault...But then the seller didn't pay attention to my Paypal mailing address.

I have until the 23rd to get this resolved. Just don't know what to do.

32. It depends if you would rather have your money back, or have your doll faster. If you go through the PO, you'll get your package as soon as they fix their mistake. If you go trhough paypal, you'll get your money and have to buy your doll again.

33. I say go through the PO. THEY WILL FIX THE PROBLEM. I had my Black Camine delivered to the wrong address and then RETURNED to sender because the house was empty (you can plainly see its an empty house). The post office didnt put down the mail forwarding sticker and that is THEIR FAULT. The seller is partially responsible, but it is also your responsibility for not changing your ebay address.

Call tomorrow and go by again. Leave them a note that they have your package and you are looking for it, to please call you to arrange a time for pick up.

34. Yes, I think this is what I'm going to do. I'm going to call tomorrow like they advised, then stop by my old place again. If they aren't there, I'm heading directly over to the Post Office.

35. I think in the end the PO was the most responsible. I mean what is the point in needing a signature for something if they don't even check to see who is signing.

36. Ok...I called the Post office again this morning. Yesterday I was advised to talk to Michelle, so I did. She informed me that they went over to my old apartment yesterday in attempts to retrieve my package. The person living there stated that she'd never recieved any packages. Either shes not giving it back, or actually didn't get it...Who knows?

Heres the best part...Apparently, after interviewing the post man who delivered it she found out that upon walking up to their apartment, he saw that his/her door was ajar. Instead of knocking, he signed for the package himself and put it INSIDE their apartment, on their desk. She also told me that said post man has now been terminated. Wow.

So, she advised me to call the 1-800 number for the main United States Postal Service, and explain my plight to them. I did so, and all I need now is for the eBay seller to file an 'inquiry for disputed information' at her local Post Office in China, and the USPS will refund me my money.

I emailed the seller this morning and hopefully we can have this all worked out before the 23rd. Otherwise I will have to file the refund claim with Paypal. Which I may do just in case.

So...Thats whats become of my poor boy. Forever lost in the abyss...Or possibly living in my old apartment...What a pain in the ass crack. u_u;;

I do want to thank all of you for your advice, concerns, and well wishes. If it weren't for all of you, I'd probably still be wondering WTF to do! So thanks again guys! <3<3

37. Damn right that postman should have been fired. I hope everything works out and you at least get your money back T^T <3

38. Well I'm glad to hear that they fired that idiot. I can't believe the stupidity and nerve of some people!

I mean what gives HIM the right to sign for a package and then go into somebody else's house?! That is called "entering without breaking" last I learned from going to court from somebody doing that to our garage and that man is now in jail. I hate to be rude but I honestly hope that the PO sends this over to the police and has him locked up as well. What he did is not only illegal but it is morally disgusting. Ugh, the thought of a postal working just going into my home makes me ill. I'm going to go wretch for you now as this has turned MY stomach upside down.

I hope that you get your little lovely soon and that DZ is understanding to your situation.

39. Hmm, but if the post man put the package in the apartment, doesn't that mean that it's still there? Couldn't you go back and tell the current tenant this and ask her if she found any weird packages on her desk/somewhere in her house?

40. Well if the door was "ajar" as he states, anybody could have reached in and grabbed it. Or he could have just made that up and kept it. He doesn't exactly sound like the honest type after what he did....

Man I am starting to sound like a "know it all".... just that I WAS a postal worker at one point and I remember some of the scumballs that I worked with.

41. That's entirely true.. The postman COULD have the package, if the person who supposedly got it, says they didn't. Either way, if you don't get it, you'll get your money back.

42. Yeah, I haven't the slightest idea as to who has my package currently. Something tells me that maybe the person living in the apartment has it, but opened it and doesn't want to get in trouble for opening it. They probably still have him. I keep thinking hes sitting on his/her desk all naked and cold...T-T

43. If they left their door ajar, its entirely possible someone stole it.
Or the postman did not delive,r and lied about leaving it there to cover his tracks in the hope of keeping his job.
Ive known postmen to leave boxes on my porch without knocking. Unfortunately, my proch does not have a door, and my house is on a hill, so our front door is visible to EVERYONE around, from all angles. Im talking a seriously busy town centre, not a quiet street...

Maybe if you ask the person who lives there now again, and this time TELL her you KNOW he placed it on her desk, then she'l relent? Its still possible she doesnt have it.

Maybe he delivered it to next door if she didnt answer? Thats what my postie does now since I reported the last one for leaving it in broad feckin' daylight...posts it to my neighbour. Chances are the postman thought the neighbour would take it round when he'she realised it wasnt for them.

I hope you get your boy-this is all too awful for you!

44. Well, I've got great news! I received a knock on my door this afternoon, and low and behold - the woman I'd been talking to at the local PO (Michelle) was standing there. What did she have? A great big box addressed to me! She told me that the girl living in my old apartment, hadn't known she even had the package. Apparently her boyfriend found it, and put it somewhere in thier babies room, and she never noticed it. Michelle went out of her way to go and get it, and even personally delivered it to my door!

I thanked her over and over again. I just couldn't believe how out of her way she went to see that I got my package! *dances*

So, thanks everyone for all you advice and kind words! Much love to all of you! <3<3

45. Yay! Thats so fabulous!

46. OMG, that is the best ending EVER! :) I'm so happy you finally got him! And now he'll be super special to you - you've already had quite an adventure together. :3nodding:

Cheers!

47. I love it when people turn out not to be scum of the earth. Restores my faith in humanity. *hands Toccyn a delicate handkerchief to blot the glow from her forehead*

... and they lived happily ever after!! :)

Lisa

48. i just saw this for the first time, holy crap thank god it ended so well that is amazing!

so he is so cute right!! ;)

glad you got your doll!

49. I to am relieved to her that there still are good people in the world! k.

50. That's WONDERFUL news!!!! :) :D

51. Congratulations!!

I LOVE a happy ending - and there seem to be a few this week...

I'm so happy for you all....

52. Phew- I’m so glad you got your doll! And how lovely of the lady to bring it over for you! ^_^

Congrats on the (late) arrival!

53. Congratulations! Now we want to see pics! ^_^

54. That is so great that you finally got your boy. I'm kinda surprised it took that long though. If some random person came to my door asking about a package, I would probably take their name and number and ask anyone living with me at the time about it right away. I'm glad this turned out well, looks like a lot of people were rooting for you =)

55. Yeah, well this was a guy, lol. Okay, don't shoot, that was just my first thought. My ex would have forgotten to tell me until I tripped over the box, even if it was years later.

"Oh yeah honey, that showed up a couple years ago, I thought it was some silly thing you ordered for the nursery so I just tossed it in there."

:sneaky :apresent:

56. aww that story made me happy lol

57. Congrats!!!
