Did you know there's a BJD manga?

May 18, 2017

    1. It's called Amane Gymnasium! I recently read it and it's really great! There's only one chapter so far though, so there's not a lot of story yet.

    3. I'll definitely have a read of that when I get the chance.

It would be remiss of me not to mention Rozen Maiden, for those that have not heard of it. That has an anime as well, and that's what got me into Pullips and later BJDs.

    4. :fangirl: yes I have seen it. I was so happy then I have stumbled upon it. Mangaka showed the process of sculpting, which I liked, too.

    8. Wow, I didn't know about this! Thanks so much for sharing! I wish there are more stories and games (like Nameless) about BJDs! That'd be so intriguing! :XD:

    9. Thanks for sharing! I love these types of stories, but the only one I knew of was the one on the Junky spot page and that stop updating years ago..

    10. Usamaru Furuya is one of my favorite manga artists so I am already on top of this.
He actually is a BJD owner, he has a Volks Reisner and I think? one other. At least that's all I've seen in his pics.

(Manga artist Shinichi Sakamoto, author of Innocent, has a few BJDs as well.)

    11. Awesome! What a cool coincidence!

I had the same problem, but I think it's just the site. I would just reload it until all the images showed. That helped me.

I LOVE Chobits! Watched the anime and read the manga v(^-^)

Same! However, I didn't know he had a BJD until I saw a photo recently! I love this style! It's more realistic. Reminds me of Itou Junji too!

I just started watching! I didn't expect to laugh this much! XD I like how she instructs him to hold her lol

    12. Have you ever read/seen any of CLAMP's other work? A lot of their stuff references their other works. Chi pops up in Tsubasa Chronicle a couple of times :)

    13. Thanks for sharing! I'll definitely have to check it out :) I haven't got into a manga series in a while. I think I'll really enjoy the art style of this one!

    14. There's Rozen Maiden too which I just got into and it seems pretty good so far. It was originally a manga and the original anime is apperiantly hard to find because I haven't found anywhere to watch it yet ;_;

    15. No, I haven't actually but I suspect I'll be starting soon!

I found the dub and sub on animestreams!

    17. There was an online manga-style webcomic I found via Doll a Day when it was still active. I wish I could remember the name...

The artist didn't draw the characters in a BJD style, but had online BJD photo stories that they posted of their shelled characters along with the regular comic chapters.

The story involved a guy who was sort of a science experiment into integrating technology with human beings. He had some sort of power related to accessing the internet with his mind. Then there was another character whose younger ginger haired sister was/had been (can't remember) used for a similar experiment and had some sort of psychic ability (?).

There was another artist who had wanted to start a BJD band, almost like the Vocaloid concept, but instead of holograms, the physical version of the singer was represented by a BJD. I'm not sure that idea ever got it's feet off the ground, but it was an interesting concept.

    20. Wow sounds like potentially great ideas! I hope they were reached!

    21. A quick Moderation note:

Please do not post images from or link to scanlation sites from DoA. DoA does not allow recast dolls, but we also do not allow any other bootleg merchandise which includes unauthorized scanlations.

    22. While it's not an anime specifically about dolls, BJDs do make a few appearances in アナザー (Another).

    23. I remember reading this manga!! Not long, but a really good read.

    24. Mistula definitely did more than 'get off the ground' - I think they had a hit ALBUM in the Phillipines :D
