Wait Times DHL Shipping wait times

Oct 31, 2010

    1. Thanks for dropping in:) I'm in the US, I'm expecting a package from Germany and it is being shipped via DHL. The sender is a member of DoA and not affiliated with any company. This has been a marketplace transaction. I have not before had any items shipped by DHL and I am curious about how long an expected wait time with them should be. My item was shipped around the 15th of October and I am hoping it will be arriving soon but I thought I'd ask about how long others have waited for items going a similar distance. I have tracking on my package and it does not say whether it has reached customs here or anything more than the item is in transit to the destination country. I'd love to hear from anyone in the US who has waited on a package via DHL from other countries. I'm just anxious to get my baby so I'm hoping to get some advice to calm my nerves;) Thanks so much for reading and if you can offer any insight I would be glad to hear it:D

    2. I bought a Volks doll and had it shipped DHL from Tokyo, it took about a five days to get here. It shouldn't be too much longer if it already cleared German customs. Good luck!

    3. Hi:D Thank you for commenting! How long ago was this and was your package shipped by a certain method of DHL? I'm not sure exactly whether my method was the least expensive or what so perhaps that might make the wait time longer for me.

Also, does anyone know whether the riots and strikes in France would affect mail travel from Germany as of two weeks ago? This may also be an issue for my package. I'm really nervous and would love to chat more about this..

    4. This was less than a month ago. So fairly recent. DE's post system is completely sepparate from FR's. So you shouldn't have to worry about the crazyness going on there right now. My package was just shipped with the standard method, no delivery date confirmation. That's probably the least expensive.

    5. Thank you again for your help and information. I'm hoping then that these two weeks passing might just be customs related. Its a curious thing to me that you had only waited 5 days to receive your dolls considering Japan is further away than Germany. I just wish my tracking would be a bit more detailed and explain where my baby is right now:(

    6. Out of curiosity, how are you tracking your package? I like to use Track-Trace when an item is still overseas. It usually gives the most information. Even flight numbers! Once it hits US soil I switch to USPS. Track-Trace always seems to stop tracking at that point.

    7. I am tracking my package at www.dhl.de and it tells me very little else besides my package is in transit to the destination country. When I put in my tracking number at the track and trace website it told me my item did not exist. I also attempted to track it with the USPS website and nothing came up. Am I doing something incorrectly?

    8. No you're not doing anything wrong. Those systems only work with packages inside thier own transit systems. USPS will not touch your package, it will be delivered by a DHL truck. Just like UPS. Try tracking it on DHL.com, mine was pretty up-to-date about where it was. Depending on where it was in germany it's probably going to go to their major hub (I would guess that being from Europe it would be Amsterdam). My package went from Japan, to Hong-Kong then all the way to Ohio. So it can sometimes go backwards to get to their main shipping hub.

    9. Thank you again for your help. I tried tracking it at DHL.com and it claims I have an invalid tracking number.. I've emailed them so I hope to hear back soon. I'm really beside myself.. This is very upsetting and I am only growing more anxious and frustrated. I just hate not knowing where it is and what's going on. I really hope someone at DHL can give me some solid information. I'll post here again if there is any news. For now I'm trying not to get more worked up but it is quite difficult. Thank you again for the continued support!

    10. The you can even contact the sender's parcel and inquire to him the correct tracking,i really hope that you will get sooner your parcel.

    11. Thank you so much, $abbatha! I did in fact receive my little one shortly after I wrote all of this and the sender was a gem the whole time:aheartbea I suppose it was one of those things where as soon as I started really freaking out things would fall into place^^; The mail man was too funny.. He knocked in time to the "shave and a haircut, two bits" song and I came running. Nearly knocked the poor guy down I was so excited:XD: It was frustrating that when I called the US DHL they couldn't help me and that I had no realistic way to speak to the German side of DHL. The wonderful seller I worked with promised to get to the bottom of things the next day but she didn't end up needing to at all:D I would definitely still recommend DHL as it is a great carrier but it can be frustrating when you're waiting for a package from overseas. Thank you so much again to all who posted here and for your advice!

    12. Lol I guess I should have mentioned that I'm German and would have been willing to help huh? I'm glad you got your little one! Language barriers can be a real bugger some times! Congrats!

    13. :XD::XD::XD: Yes, that would have been awesome! Ah well, I feel like this was a message to me from the universe.. It probably went something like: "Calm the heck down and have a little faith that things will work out." :D I'm glad you were here to help me though. Everyone really helped! Thank you so much! He is now on the way for a new faceup and a bit of other work. I'll have to make sure and show you when he comes home!
