DF (Doll Family) Tiny doll discussion thread

    1. Thank you so much kurogane! :XD:

    2. Why is the topic so far gone)) Let's raise it up) DF-H Ralph (My Kit)

    3. Wow! Master JuliaS, I don't think I've ever seen a DF-H Ralph before. He's very handsome for a tiny! :D

SteamWitch, your little guy is as cute as ever! :chibi

I can't help thinking he's up to some mischief.;)

    4. Has anyone here gotten the speacial offer head, Little Peach? I'm thinking about ordering a few as practice heads. I'm really interested in their tanned color. I also have triplets I some day wanna shell and might order 3 of that head as 'for now' shells of them.

      • x 1
    5. Oh my it's such a cute face! The price looks good too!

    6. So I bit the bullet and ordered 3 of the Little Peach heads from Alice's Collection. It didn't have an upcharge for tan, so I ordered all three in 'tanned' resin. Really can't beat $70 for 3 tan yosd heads. I plan on making them into my triplets who will start out with one shared body but eventually have their own. I might hybrid them later on as well.

Anyone know the waiting time for DFA?

      • x 1
    7. I ordered through BJDivas and got my tan mini in 5 months but it was a full doll. It might take less time since it's just heads.

      • x 2
    8. I got my 3 DFA little peach heads in about a month from order date to arrival! Got them in the "tanned" because I wanted a lighter tan color that I can blush to match to a darker tan body. Still deciding on what bodies I want for them but I'm planning a hybrid. :>
      [IMG]
Tanned is SUPER light, very much like a Caucasian person with a slight natural tan as opposed to a more ethnic looking tan.
I plopped one of my heads on my Pipos PO-11 body in NS to see how it'd look, and you can't really tell a resin color difference in photos:
And it looks even more of a match when dressed. xD

    9. ooo that head is cute ^.^
I've not posted in here... or most places really for a while. My little DF is going thru a bit of an identity crisis atm...
I think shes going to be a re-shell and slight character change of a doll I'm selling... I'm not sure about her wig, probs why we are hiding it under a hat even though its summer (logic ;) ) . So She will hopefully be Delilice, I just need to get a wig I'm happy with... I think ... I hate it when I'm unhappy with doll 'characters' *sighs*

    10. All these little ones are too cute! :chibi

    11. Thought I'd drop this here! I got a df-a bibi head second hand and decided to try hybriding her on a littlefee body. (I have an unboxing in this thread if anyone wants to see, hope this is ok to llink!)

the head needs a bit of blushing to match the creamy white resin of the body (not a bad problem to have imho) and there is a teensy bit of bulging around the neck (it's a difference of only .2cm), but it's not easily noticed.

I think a pretty darling hybrid... I might sand the neck hole just faintly to be larger someday but for now I'm terribly smitten by her. I can't wait to give her a faceup. :whee:

    12. Beedalee, she's very cute! :D

    13. She's so precious! :XD: I recently placed an order for a Bibi in grey resin. This makes me even more excited to receive mine.

    14. @Rabbit-moon @SteamWitch Thank you both so much!! :aheartbea
@mirrorcle_world oh my gosh, congratulations!! I would love to see other owner's Bibis. :DGrey resin sounds so fun, I had no idea DFA offered it!! Do you have plans for her?

      • x 1
    15. @Beedalee Thanks! Their grey resin, based on the company photos, is a really pretty light color. I can't wait to see it in person :) I'm actually going to make my Bibi a boy. I don't have his character fully developed yet.

    16. Hi everyone! I’ve been lurking here for awhile, trying to decide which doll to get. A few months ago I went for it and ordered a RouRou in dark tan and got little peach head in the same colour for free. I just finished paying the layaway and already got a shipping notice. So the girls should be here soon! <3 I’m super excited!!

    17. Congrats mirrorcle_world! Bibi is a darling sculpt. He will look awesome in grey resin! Looking forward to pictures when he arrives. :fangirl:

Congrats Kiki Happy! RouRou is such a sweet sculpt. :chibi

Wow! Great news that you already have a shipping notice! I'm really curious about her dark tan resin. I'm sure it's going to be beautiful! Please post pictures when she arrives. :D

    18. Anybody else eyeballing DF-H's new Xiao Chan? I lost interest in minis years ago but he is SO cute!!! :whee: 35cm though? They call him 1/5 scale. What the heck is he supposed to wear? I compared him to MNF boy measurements and it seems like MNF would be very baggy.

      • x 3
    19. I ordered the new DF-h Xiao Chan, 36cm boy ballet from AC. I don't know if he is meant to be here because he is 36cm tall. He is adorable and I want to see how he compares to my Granado ~32cm boys.

      • x 1
    20. SteamWitch l agree he is cute. I like the 35cm bjd's.

      • x 1
    21. Me! I wanted a more affordable ballet body, but the size is odd. I'm wondering how it would look with a MNF head since it's a couple cm shorter than a Moe body.

      • x 1
    22. @Bristol That is what I want to find out, which is another reason I ordered him.

      • x 2
    23. It says the head takes a 6-7 wig like the smaller head MNFs... Tempting. I did check last year's DF pink and white skin against FL's, but the FL's heads are darker. Gem of Doll's white is a perfect match with FL's white, but the body isn't what I'm looking for. :eusa_sile

    24. I haven't bought new BJDs for quite a while. (I missed some dolls I really wanted to have because companies discontinue their dolls and stuff...) But, now I'm considering buying a small one from DF-H while they have the event discount going on --- and while they have the sculpt in their selection at all!

However, I'm pretty baffled with their skin colour options; they have 8 different resin options to choose from!
I tried googling for colour compare pictures, but none of them include the imported resin colours, and the shades vary pretty wildly between the pictures. Though, I don't even know is there much of a colour difference between usual resin and imported resin.

I wouldn't be too happy if I accidentally got a doll that is darkish yellow, super pink, or pure white.
So... If anyone could make this clearer for me, I'd appreciate it!

    25. @Karl-Kai, I've only seen the normal pink in person, but IMO it's a workable match for Fairyland NS, if that helps at all! As @Bristol says, it's a bit paler, and a bit pinker, but not a garish shade in any way!

    26. i'm getting the body for a WM Anjue head from New Clover Singing. The head is SO SMALL it wears a 5-6 wig so i think it would be a perfect fit on the body, i also want to compare it to my MNFs though i'm stumped at what he's gonna wear. I talked to another doll owner and it seems clothes made for iplehouse kid, dollmore narsha and blue fairy jr might work. It'll prolly be a mix and match between slim mini and yo-sd stuff clothes wise.

    27. He looks like he's going to be a leggy nearly YoSD size. I thought my tiny collection was done but this one prompted me into buying one! Mine is going to be modded as a girl. I almost never get a factory faceup for a doll. I usually prefer to do them myself. But for this one? That face is just precious. I am super excited for my Tiny Dancer.
      PS
afterthought, accounting for shortages and shipping in these weird times we're still getting by in, I kind of expect this doll to arrive in Early December. She'll make a fun little winter holiday "surprise" from past me to future me. I might use the dimensions to make some elastic/loose outfit bits, something snowflakey and sparkly for her to wear and pose in snow, maybe do a bit of The Nutcracker Ballet and make a Clara gown and find a little Nutcracker toy for her.

    28. He is so crazy cute! I just go into mini's and I am eyeing that AC sale deadline like it's my job.

I've noticed that a few companies have a ~30cm doll line like Luts so maybe the category is slowly growing?

    29. I ordered the girl version. I do have have some 14" clothes/shoes l am going to try to see if they fit.

    30. My Xiao Chan body came in and he's darling. I'm modding him to work with LTF heads and am very happy with the result!
I posted a sorta box opening with some pix of him posing

As for clothing, this is the female head (I've decided the body is hermaphrodite, because it needs to double for both this head and a Shiwoo elf!) and the outfit I made for Morgaine's arrival is a nice fit, except for some extra room in chest. I just took a tuck in the back and it worked nicely. No pix yet.

    31. took a couple of quick pics to show Yrulani in the dress I mentioned next to LTF Wiishu. I find her frustrating to pose standing. Legs kick all over the place, but I'll figure something to stabilize her.
Sitting, with butts in the same distance from the edge so that hers drop naturally over the edge, Wiishu's calves hit the edge
      [IMG]
I think they'll be a lot of fun together. Funny, his head looks larger! He's wearing his lucky/magical robe (backwards for extra luck) because a dear friend is having major surgery.

    32. It's a beautiful body! Have you sueded yours? I have a habit of sueding almost all my dolls, but I know not everyone does things that way.

    33. I'm going to try kips in the hips and ankles. The other joints are quite solid. I've never actually sueded a doll, or used kips before the Granado guys appeared with them in key joints. My Fairyland dolls never needed them. Do you actually glue the suede into place? The resin is really smooth. Lovely feel, but not much friction in the joints. There's something about the hip joint that I'm trying to figure how to use. It's very sided. It's new to me, but I think, from the pictures, it's typical for the DF-H bodies. He/she poses so well otherwise, I think it might be at least partially user-stupidity. :D

    34. I like kips the best so far. I've used glued in suede, hot glue and moleskin as joint tightening methods and kips are best for me.

    35. @Vindalootoo Can you give us measurements of the pointe feet please?

    36. I can't find my metric measuring tape, but it was pretty closely 2inches along the top, toes to ball end and 1 3/8 inches toes to back of heel on the bottom, which translates to, what, 5cm and 3.5cm? Width at widest point is 3/4in or 2cm. Her ankle measures 1/2 in or about 1.3cm across. Does that help?

    37. Has anyone tried minifee high heel shoes on their 1/5 bjd's high heeled feet yet?

    38. My Xiao Chan arrived today. He is a cutie. Not sure what he will be.

    39. My status changed to shipping so hopefully mine will arrive before Christmas! @SteamWitch yours is adorable! I love that the faceup is true to the style in the promo images!

    40. As I am a super curious cat, I did try it out the tiny Granado head on Xiao Chan's body and after altering the shook I got these results. Galileo is the smallest of the tiny Granado heads. The body is comparable, but the neck is bigger around but seems with the bigger heads or with a little modification it might actually work.

    41. @SteamWitch

How do You like posing of this new dfh body?

How does its torso joint work? Is it good at crouching? Or is it like a shelve joint?

      TIA

    42. Hey @Swampruler Sorry I didn't get back to you earlier. He poses really well. I have the two joint boy and he has 6 notches to slouch forward and he can backbend two notches. He can cross his legs very well. He sits upright just fine.
He can't crouch as the Granado tiny boys can.

I haven't tried on his ballet feet yet, too many things going on around here.

    43. Thank You.

    44. My Xiao Chan arrived Dec 22! I'm not 100% sure I got the Pink skin and not the White, but their pink is pretty pale anyway. I'll keep her. Mine's a Her. I haven't tried her ballet feet yet, (a current doll project is a holiday gift for someone and I'm sewing on that) but Clara will get more attention once I am done with that. The day she got here I did pop her wig and eyes in, and she got a cute little rehearsal top and short-shorts things I need to add the ruffles to. I wanna make her some cute legwarmers too. She'll have her Practice clothes for everyday wear and Special outfits for photoshoots. She is named after Clara from The Nutcracker Ballet, and I want to make her a dress to dance the role.

My DFH Pukki arrived today! She is so sweet, and I'm very impressed with the posing on her <3 I was struggling to find any pictures of her sculpt except the ones on the store page, which only show her in blue, so she was a lovely surprise.
She's in pink, and I was a bit worried she would be too pink, but she is a really nice colour!

    46. Now that I have seen your Pukki... I want a DF-H.

Does anyone have a Pukka or Kiki I can see? Can't believe how few 'real life' DF photos there are in the world and I need to see more to pick one!

    47. I just got a shipping notice for my DF-A BiBi twins, I’m wondering how good they’ll pose.

    48. I just got my Pukka in today! I ordered on layaway from Acbjd

Hi to this thread! I got a Zhi Ling 2nd hand earlier last year and put a Pukka on layaway to be a mini/child version of my dollshe saint.
Little Cal arrived today and i cannot wait to start working on him. I also got some extra hands!
I'd for sure love to get more of these lovely sculpts.

    50. My DF-A BiBi twins arrived yesterday. I am loving their sculpting, body, and posing.

Here's a pic of them standing on one foot together. The one in the brown dress (left) is Amethyst and the one in the blue dress is Rose. Rose needs better shoes, as the soles are curved so getting her to stand on one foot is a difficult task.

    51. Oh thank you! I can't wait to see what you do with him ^^

    53. I'm considering getting a Xiao Chan. I wonder if it'll have similar proportions to my Narsha, from the measurements it seems just a little slimmer.

What do you think of the sale? Is it a good moment to order now? I heard they had another sale last year. I'm also wondering if I should get it with all spare parts or start with just the doll, it's a little intimidating to place a big order.

      • x 1
    54. I don't know the history of the company and sales, but the one last year was the introductory sale. I think it was 15%? So 12% isn't bad. As for feet and hands...only you can say whether or not you'd use them. They do have a really nice system for holding the s-hook while you change them, so it's almost as easy as magnetic hands. The quality of the resin and engineering make it well worth even the full price, IMO.

I'm having some character issues with this doll +.+ After some wig trying and outfit swapping and eye changing I feel like I'm close, she does have some fairy wings too, but I need to fiddle with some magnets. All i need some is a name and back story... how hard can it be xD sorry about all the mess around her, I just wanted to sit her on a tiny pillow while I checked Email and such, and she just looked so cute!

Everyone's dolls are so cute, even the blank ones! I always think it says a lot about a sculpt if its lovely even when blank :)
