Lost/Damaged Defective Volks boots- refund possible?

Sep 14, 2011

    1. I ordered a pair of boots from Volks last week, and received them yesterday. They zip up the front, and when I unzipped the first one to put it on my Elliot, the entire zipper popped off. I paid $55 for those boots and am a little ticked that they broke right out of the package :x. I've emailed Volks, and am taking pictures to send them, but I'd like to know how good they are about offering refunds for defective merchandise. Will I have to ship the boots back to them on my own dime? Or will they offer a replacement? If you've experienced this kind of situation with Volks, how was it resolved?
      Thanks!!

    2. Volks are not the greatest representing of customer service. I had defective boots from them too and they made me ship them back : < when other company would just send the replacement.

    3. Usually Volks will ask you to ship defective items back before they ship you a replacement. I think replacement is the only option but I can't be sure. I wouldn't hesitate to contact them and find out.

I think the boots you bought are a pair I also own, I haven't had any problems with the zipper so it might just be that you happened to get a wonky pair. Out of the 20+ pairs of shoes I have got from Volks I haven't had any serious defective issues. I had one pair of sneakers where the glued sole peeled up but that was an easy home repair.

      Good luck working this out~

    4. Damn you double post! :x

    5. I don't find it an unreasonable request or bad customer service to ask that the defective item be sent back - Volks are a responsible company and will want to see what the problem is, it could be a problem with other products they have and it is better for them to analyse this and find out than sell a lot of defective products unknowingly.

I think they offer replacement rather than refund, but the best course of action is to contact them straightaway.

    6. I've sent them pictures and will let you all know what they say. A replacement wouldn't be bad because I really love those boots! The metal zipper part just snapped in half and popped off the teeth on one of the boots, the other one is fine and feels sturdy. I think it was just a fluke.

    7. My experience is also that Volks replaces defective items in cases such as these, that they will probably ask you to return the faulty pair, but that they will also reimburse you for the shipping. Which any serious company will!

    8. Just got a reply from Volks. I'll be sending these boots back & getting a replacement pair. Volks will reimburse me for the cost of shipping. So yay :D!
