DearMine Doll Dear Shine Line

Nov 23, 2012

1. I hate to say it, but I am disappointed. I am not a fan of solid torsos at all and have already passed on other cat anthros due to lack of jointing. Also, side from the minor tweek to the back of the calf to make it more feline looking, it like the Lover line is simply a basic female body.

I really wish they would make them more cat-ish like they did with the male lover bodies. I love the hands and feet they gave to the guys, and I wish they offered something like it for the ladies. I want a catgirl, not a girl with a cat head.

That aside, I will still be keeping an eye on Dearshine and this thread. I want to see what people do with their kitties when they get home, and perhaps they will grow on me like Elfdoll's Catsy did. I think I would have a whole clowder of them if they had not gone to using the solid torsos for them. :sweat

2. The new body is pretty much what I expected, but I'm surprised by lack of waist or bust joint. Generally, I do not mind a solid torso - it gives the body nice, clean lines - as long as the doll is able to sit straight without issues. Some bodies with solid torsos tend to lean back a lot, which makes them unstable. Judging by the pictures, this body seems to be a good sitter, but I suppose we'll know for sure when owner reviews come in. In the case of an anthro, though, I do wish to have some mobility in the torso area in order to facilitate lounging positions - my most favorite for the cat anthros!

As tempting as the 10% off event is, I'm going to pass on this version of Diana. I'd love to add her to my collection one day, but in a different full-set. Also, perhaps with time, Dear Mine will release a "mobility" version of this body, which would have a jointed torso.

3. Same here. No solid torso for me >.< pretty as she is though, I'll have to pass on her this time around ...

4. Hehe, I guess for me, just call me an "early adopter" then. I was also surprised at at least the lack of under-bust joint that the Dear Lover girls have and was really hoping for something similar there as that lockable bust joint in the Dear Lover girls is just brilliant. However, aesthetically I don't mind this body and would love to see my girl, Catherine, in one piece.^^

5. Hmm... if they do a mobility version...
Oh, gosh... I have a concept rolling around in my head involving using my two little resin anthro cats as the good and bad conscious for a Diana... oh the photo stories I could tell!

Lol, if this keeps up my wallet may end up doomed after all. :sweat

6. Hehehe, Tonboko, I have to admit I have thought of doing something similar there too but more with my MSDs / Dear Lovers and my Tiny Pet dolls ^^ Mind you, it would be just as cute with Dear Pets / Zuzus etc and a bigger Dear Shine doll =^-^=

7. Oh my, Diana is adorable in the basic edition! She seems more cutesy than the head releases, but I like both! thankfully, for my wallet I'm not in love with the fullset...Her face up is beautiful but I would feel bad to wipe it, since it's too fairytale-y and generally...too much, for the character I have in mind.

I was actually very disappointed in the body, I had honestly expected a bust joint. But...Then I thought of my Dear Lover girl and realized - Hey, I never use that joint anyway....So I think, once I've figured out how that tail works, I will get Diana a body :)

I saw someone mention a pipos tail that worked like that...could anyone elaborate for me, show me how they work or explain a bit more? I know I'm supposed to understand the pictures on Dear Mine but I can't figure out if I can pull the taill off, without having everything collapse. I would ask Dear Mime, but I'm not so good with words and I'm afraid my question would be lost in translation ):
Thanks !

8. Hi PotatoMash :kitty2
Yes, that was me. I am just guessing here from Dearmine's pictures but it looks a lot like the Dearshine tail looks like it attaches very much like the Pipos Pi Cat tails. They have a seperate resin hookiside the torso that the tail elastic hooks on to so it's not connected at all to the rest of the body's stringing.
Here's a link to Pipos' Manual that might help explain what I mean
http://www.piposland.com/board/view.php?board_name=DREAMBOARD18&choose2=&choose1=&pagenow=4&CB=&ID=4

9. Aaaahh! Now I understand. The Dear Mine instructions weren't that good, I'd probably figure it out, but I would like to know if I could pull the tail off before I bought the body. I'm leaning more and more towards her original body, even though I'm not too fond of solid torsos...but I won't find out before I have it :D

10. My 2 part Layaway for the new DS body has been set up and 1st payment made, so now comes the waiting game again ^^

11. Well, I'm attempting to buy a body for my Diana, high heels and shoes for her, but I have yet to have a layaway page put up for her :) Once I've made my first payment though, the waiting game begins for me too :D

12. Congrats then too, PotatoMash! :kitty1 Being Monday, hopefully Dearmine will set your Layaway page up for you today. I also got my girl the heel parts and pumps too as I have SD16 size heel shoes and boots I am hoping will be a good fit for those lovely heel feet and I love Dearmine's sculpted shoes too.

13. Hmmm, I still haven't gotten a response from Dear Mine ): I can see there's one view on some other questions made after mine on the Q/A Board, but don't know whether it's the poster who read them or not. I just want to pay off my body in a hurry, lol. I recently recieved my first Dear Lover and I adore her tail, from the looks of it, Diana's is even longer compared to her body, can't wait to put it into weird positions :D

Guh, I'm generally excited for my first SD, I've ordered her clothes and shoes already, that I hope will fit her...Since the sculptor/s (??) from infiniti doll are on dear mine too, I bought some shoes for SD16 girls, that explicitely said they'd fit infiniti dolls too, so I'm hoping they'll be a perfect fit.

14. Hopefully Dearmine have gotten back to you by now, PotatoMash. I am hoping to pay off my Diana body quickly too as I would love to finally have a body for Catherine. I already have a collection of SD clothes for her I am hoping will fit so it will be interesting to see how and if they do. Although Catherine won't be my 1st SD she will be the first I have had for a while and I am looking forward to having a bigger girl around again. :kitty2

15. I've made the first payment for my Dear Mine body, and I'll be able to pay off the rest by the 1st, so I'm pretty excited :D I had a dream last night where I'd recieved the body for Diana, but she was only 2 inches taller than my Dear Lovers so I was disappointed...Then I woke up, found out I didn't have the body and was even more disappointed, lol.
I hope she fits in the outfits I've bought her though, since Dear Mine now writes that she's 55cm with the head and not 60 like before...Even if she doesn't, at least she won't be bald, lol :D

16. Congrats, PotatoMash! Glad your Layaway page was finally set up for you :kitty2

Ah, I hadn't seen that about the size myself, so only 55cm! I had been assuming she was 58-60cm based on the size body her head was supposedly originally designed for according to Dearmine. I must have skimmed straight over the measurements side of things :doh Yes, that will make fitting interesting then. Her hip and waist measurement are not unlike Volks SD16 measurements...only major issue with fit then being that she's 7cm shorter altogether and with a smaller bust...and bust wise she is closer to a Volks SD13 standard size, just with that tiny 16.5cm waist compared to 19.2 for a sd13 female body. I'm guessing as long as you are ok with looser fit dresses or elastic waisted skirts then it shouldn't be a problem but tops and pants might be interesting to get just right, especially if you are after anything fitting.

17. Just completed my twins's alter-ego kitty self ^^ please meet my playful queens (both Diana.F with SDGR body)

18. They are gorgeous, yagamijo! :)

19. Oh wow, yagamijo, what a gorgeous pair of Queens they are too! Congratulations on doing such a lovely job with them both :aheartbea

20. Oh my.. they are so adorable! Congratulations! Best work, yagamijo ! :o

21. Holy f-Oh dear...They are a beautiful yagamijo, truly! I love the clenched fist on cat anthros, makes it look like a little paw lol. Makes me so excited to get the body for my head, it's stuck in customs, but hopefully I'll be able to pick her up soon. Coincidentally, my things from taobao have been one day ahead, so I'll have clothes and wig for her too when I get the body :D

22. Is anyone ordering the new DS Ophelia? I just love her soft look.

23. So, I indeed could not resist, and Ophelia is ordered. I've gotten the measurements for her body from the site, but the foot measurements aren't there that I can find. Can anyone tell me what size her feet are? If they are anything like the DearLover girls, the feet are small and narrow. I've ordered both flat/heel options for her.

24. Deb, you lucky thing, I would have loved to order her and hope she'll be back in a basic form later on. For me, no more dolls until after Christmas / January now...to many birthdays and Christmas gifts etc to plan, and I have plenty of new arrivals to play with at the moment.

As for me, according to Dearmine, Catherine's Body will be on the way in the next couple of weeks so I will finally have my gorgeous Diana in one piece! :kitty1

In the mean time, Catherine's claimed another wig as her own. This pic was also posted on Dearmine's facebook page and was also one of my entries in the Makoeyes V3 photo contest:-

25. Yay! Wow, your Catherine is gorgeous! I love that colorful wig on her and those Makoeyes are amazing. I can't wait to see her completed. I'm sort of peeved about the Halloween promotion, as I started my Ophelia order prior to the promotion, but I've asked them if there is any way I can squeeze in for the discount. It's quite a hefty sum.

26. Thank you :kitty2
Fingers crossed they allow the discount then as otherwise I am sure you're kicking yourself for getting your order in just before it started!

27. *kicks self* Just heard back from Dearmine. It has to be made in one full payment, no layaway, and purchased during the sale only. Dang! Oh well, that's the way it goes.

28. Sorry to hear you missed out there then :( At least ou still have your gorgeous Ophelia to look forward to, though, one way or another though :)

29. Agh, sistercuervo, I feel your pain D: I wanted to ask if I could pay the rest of my DL Heather on the discount, but saw your answer on the Q/A And figured it was a lost cause. On the other hand, I'm sort of thrilled you're getting Ofelia, I want her so bad too, but there is no way that's going to happen, she's just so beautiful really, hope you'll post lots of her when you get her. I'll measure my DS's foot tomorrow and tell the exact measurements, I'd wager their feet are the same size, just with toes instead of cat-toes lol. My girl, Diana's feet are quite small though, so I think it's gonna be a hassle finding shoes, like it is for DL's D: (In my opinion at least, maybe I'm just bad at it lol)

A picture of Diana to top it off! She looks so dainty in this one :D

30. Sorry for the huge delay, but I'm back with my Dear Mine measurements!

The Dear Shine foot is 6cm long, both high heels and flat feet :)

31. Excellent, thank you, PotatoMash I really appreciate your measuring her for me. Have you had any luck finding shoes other than the ones she came with?
I've asked Dearmine if they will be making ears for her. I would love to have some pretty ears like the ones on your Diana! :D

32. Wow, 6cm ...that's tiny. Possibly some MSD footwear could do the trick? I know 2079 Realms MSD footwear is designed with an inner length randing from 6 to 6.7cm. These ones are an example right on 6cm inner length, and there are quite a few places I've seen these:- http://2079realms.com/207902013mbjd-shoes-4-msd-p-1509.html

Alices' Collections resells 2079 Realms so, if you're not looking to buy in bulk, there are several pairs of their MSD size footwear that should be a good fit by the looks of the inner dimensions.

I would definitely go for some other optional ears too, so I could blush different ones to go with different wigs / outfits. I love Catherine's ears but moss green blushing and an Apricot rose will not exactly go with everything. As it is, I've been tweaking the blushing on her ears just a bit to allow for a bit more versatility.

33. Sistercuervo - I tried mashing Diana's foot into a pair of MSD Shoes I have, that are way too big for dear lover feet. They're too small, but by half a centimeter, so I think she'd be able to fit int 6.5-6.7 cm shoes :)

Jenkat - I must admit I looked in the SQ lab 60 thread, hoping someone had a navi girl, but saw you mentioning that you wanted optional hands for the dear shine body :D You must report back to us when you find out whether they fit or not :D

34. Hooray! Catherine now finally has her new body finally as of today!!! :D Almost a year, but finally she is now in one piece :aheartbea Sadly probably no time for pics until tomorrow, but I am just so happy to finally be able to have here all together <3

Sistercuervo, I was just looking at those the other day on Dollmore's site because they look gorgeous and I'd love something in that sort of style for Catherine. I'm particularly partial to the mint ones myself ^^ Dollmore MSD shoes tend to be on the much larger msd size as Kid Dollmore dolls have 6cm feet, so they could well be perfect! It's definitely tempting to try.
I sadly now have 2 gorgeous pairs of 7cm inner length SD footwear that sadly won't be able to fit Catherine now :( I was really hoping they would. :doh

@ PotatoMash, I most definitely will! I am looking forward to trying them out, along with the SQ-Labs reindeer antlers & noses :kitty1

:aheartbea Oooo, looks like I spoke a little too soon on the footwear side of things. Couldn't help myself, had to go and play a bit with some shoes and clothes.:sweat
Whereas the Angell-Studio SD sized pumps I was saving for Catherine were sadly much too big, the C'est la Seduction boots I had were muuuuch more forgiving, and ended up being just perfect :D This is the pair, in the lovely champagne / tan colour pictured at the top, that I have for Catherine:- http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=17718817225
As they're made with a softer vinyl they have a good bit of stretch to them so mould around those Dearshine Kitty calves perfectly. It the laces are tightened right up they basically fit the leg beautifully and being more forgiving like most pairs of boots you don't even notice any extra length in the foot part. They make just the perfect thigh-high / over knee boot on the Dearshine body! Now I can't wait to take pics of her as dressed in her boots and her lovely soft white Mori style dress she looks so elegant. :kitty1

Potatomash, a question for you...did you find the Dearshine body was a much brighter / more orange-y yellow than your Diana Rose head? I'm trying to figure out whether it's just that my Diana's resin has mellowed that much in the last year or whether it is a slightly different colour...which can happen from resin batch to resin batch, especially after a year, I can understand. I really don't mind, with resin aging over time it should be less and less noticeable, it's really not that dramatic to begin with, but I'm just curious as to what you found?

35. OOOh! Love those boots, JenKat! I can hardly wait to see them on Catherine. They really are fantastic. I've never ordered through TaoBao by myself, but they make me tempted. I have a bunch of cute boots/shoes in SD size I want to try for Ophelia.

36. Sistercuervo, if you're ever more than tempted then I can recommend a couple of good Taobao agents / shopping services that can make things a little easier.

And here she is, my gorgeous Lady Catherine! I can't explain how happy it makes me having her finally all in one piece! She is better than I could have imagined ^^

http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5482/11112734444_624efe3535_c.jpg

I've posted several more pics in my Flikr account (see link in my Signature below) if you want to take a look.

37. She really is gorgeous. Is the resin a good match head/body? It looks perfect to me.
I'll PM you re: the taobao info
Deb

38. Gah, Jenkat, she's so cute, saw her on tumblr! It's actually quite ironic, because I was looking at those exact boots when I shopped for my Diana, on taobao, but thought, "Aw no, with the cat calves, she won't fit x.x!" But it's great to know she does, I think I might get a pair of them myself!
I'm so envious of your furniture, she looks fabulous in that couch!

Regarding the resin tone, I did notice there was a bit of a difference on my Diana head, compared to her body. It wasn't anything the camera caught, and I think her body has mellowed to match it better now, but there a tiny difference. I'd say it was a 90% Match, or maybe 95%.

39. Woo! Ophelia is shipping! I got her EMS# this morning, so photos soon.
There's someone on ebay with some boots that are almost identical to yours, JenKat Were the ones you ordered in SD size? Naturally I didn't save the link :doh

40. Belle, my Ophelia, has arrived
[IMG]
The Dollmore MSD sized shoes did not fit, drat it. I should have been more patient. So close, but they just barely miss going on her feet. I did find one pair of SD shoes, I think!, that fit. Ankle boots. I'm wondering now if maybe Madame Alexander's Cissy shoes might not fit her. I'm going to locate a pair and try.
EDIT: Nope, Cissy shoes are not a go, either. Maybe Tonner American Model? They are 72mm.

41. Thought I'd pop in and share my Diana hybrid ^^ She's a F.rose head in fine normal on an Impldoll Model body in real skin. (The resin doesn't match well, I wouldn't recommend it to others with this Diana head ^^)

42. Very pretty! From here, it looks like a fairly good match. I love your Diane's face and especially her beautiful ears! I was hoping to get some optional ears for Belle.

43. By any chance, has anyone ever put a 70 cm doll beside a Diana and seen what they look like together? Do the proportions work side by side, etc?

44. I used to have a Dollshe boy and a Lishe together. I could show you a pic, I think.
The proportions are about the same and they did look pretty good together. He was so tall and lanky, she looked petite and cute with him.
I don't know if that helps or not.

45. It sort of does, thank you.

46. Oh wow, I haven't popped by this thread for a while. Bit of catching up to do here ^^

Damasquerade, I love your girl's eyes, they suit her beautifully! Are they Souldoll Bling eyes? Or are they possibly Pabol or other similar anime acrylics (Pabol make the stock Volks & SQ-lab sell from what I understand).
I wanted light green eyes for my Diana too to match her moss green blushing so bought Mako AM-21s http://makoeyes.com/shop/step1.php?number=227&b_code=B20111022113722 assuming they'd be just right / subtle sage green but they ended up being soft teal blue...lovely colour, but not what I was after.

sistercuervo, Belle is gorgeous! I hope you'll post more pics of her soon as I'd love to see more :kitty1
I have a question for you with regards to the Dear Shine body...are you having knee buckling / kicky leg trouble too? I was trying to pose Catherine for photos yesterday and she just did not want to stand at all, until I used a 1/4 scale doll chair as a doll stand (I need to find a good 1/3 scale doll stand, I think, and to do a bit of sueding as well)

Here's one of the photos that did work out:-

47. Catherine is stunning in violets & pink, JenKat You take such wonderful photos.
Belle is a bit tricky and I did notice that kicky thing happening on her, too, so it must just be the they way they are. She's lots easier than my Limwha girl, who is a real rat fink to pose. ;D
It's like wrestling with an octopus. The one piece torso really helps, I think. Limwha has all those torso joints and she flopss & kicks.

48. Awww, Thanks sistercuervo ^◡‿◡^ You're too kind :kitty2
Yes, I do have to admit the one-piece torso at least means one less part to have a life-of-its-own :P There's a big local craft fair coming up in early March that usually has a big doll presence (hopefully still does as they're been taken on by a new events co-ordinator this year) so I'm hoping I might find a good stand there, which should help with some of the kickiness issues hopefully.
And I'm jealous, I'd love a Limhwa girl (Dreaming Half Elf is one of my grail dolls)! I see you have a gorgeous Luna - at 57 cm do you mind if I ask what a her proportions are like compared to Belle?

49. Very similar, although Limwha's head is considerably larger. I'll post a couple of others in the photo thread so we don't get into trouble:
This is the third Limwha I've had and they are beautiful, but..that arched back just snaps like crazy, then her knees pop loose. Be prepared if you get one.

50. sistercuervo, I could swear I responded to your post yesterday but it seems I didn't :? Silly me probably hit "preview post" and forgot to hit "submit" :sweat

Thank you so much for the comparison pic, that's wonderful! Wow, so very similar proportions there by the looks of things, despite your Luna being a little larger. The hips and shoulders are particularly similar in proportion along with the shape of the thigh by the looks of things, even if the Dearmine body is a little more rounded / smoothed out and simplified, which just seems to be one of the main characteristics of Dearmine's style. Both beautiful girls in their own right there :)

51. I agree, Jen & thanks. I must say, DS fits better into standard SD13 clothes, whereas the Limwha is quite large in the chest, making things that are fitted too small (Dollheart, for example) She also has a large bottom and finding jeans can be difficult. I don't mind DS's stylized body, although I just adore the Limwha hands. They're so pretty. I forgot to mention, she's regular resin, not French. The Mono Limho I had was lemony after no time in the FRench.

52. Just a quick warning to anyone with Dear Shine girls on the cat girl / Diana body to be very very careful when hooking and unhooking your girls' tails as the hook point at the base of the tail is very delicate. When I was changing Catherine recently I went to remove her tail and sadly this tail joint point snapped as I went to do so. Sadly I fear it was only a matter of time before this happened as the hook point was very very fine and delicate, hence why I would suggest to anyone else with one of the cat girl bodies to be very very careful with it.
For the time being I have left Catherine without a tail and don't plan on buying a replacement as I fear it would also have the same problem. I am considering trying a metal jewelry post in place of the fine resin one that has broken on the tail end, or even a steel dressmaking pin to give a more secure base for an s-hook to latch onto but I haven't been able to bring myself to try it yet.
Has anyone else with the Dear Shine cat girl body had any tail trouble?

53. Oh dear! I'd be tempted to replace it with a magnet, although it'd have to be a strong one to hold her giant tail in place, I reckon. I thought they were hooked into place for some reason, like the Pipos cat tails.

54. Wow, that's too bad about the tail! Did you contact Dear Mine to let them know this is an issue, JenKat? I imaging they would like to know to avoid this in the future.

55. They do hook into place but not in the same way that the Pipos Pi cats do...there is a seperate tail nub / base that is hooked into the body much in this same way, but then the main body of the tail hooks on to that. This makes this larger portion of the tail easier to unhook / remove for changing clothes, or at least should. This 2 part tail is more in the style of Pipos' R.Pi, M.Pi and Option Part Large tails, only that the tail base nub is threaded directly into the boll body rather than magnetically attached.
I'd be tempted to try the magnet option but I am afraid that would also be problematic after past experience with Pipos' M.Pi and Option Part Large Tails ie. the strength of rare earth magnets might just be enough to hold the tails in place without moving it but with a larger, heavier resin tail + gravity, posing the tail is almost impossible as any movement and the tail tends to want to fall off. Hence, why I'd want to try look for another hooked option first.

I haven't as of yet but I will message them as it is definitely worth their knowing it's a possible problem or something worth looking at.

56. I thought I should add a couple of pics to show what happened to Catherine's tail damage and better illustrate what I was planning and have done as a fix (currently waiting for epoxy glue to properly so I can test and show you how things went).

Firstly, the break (this is the pic I sent to Dearmine for their own record):-

Now, as for what I have done to the tail, here's some links to my Pipos Cheshire's foot / ankle joint with metal pin threaded through:-
http://i915.photobucket.com/albums/ac354/nekoparadisedolls/PiposCheshireFoot_1_zps1f402b37.jpg
http://i915.photobucket.com/albums/ac354/nekoparadisedolls/PiposCheshireFoot_2_zpsb2495806.jpg

Basically, a hole has been drilled through from one side of the top of the ankle joint and partially into the other side, just big enough to thread a stainless steel pin through and glue it in place. This then makes a much sturdier s-hook attachment point in a tiny or delicate joint part than a very thin tube / tiny bridge of resin.

I'll post up some more pics soon when I'm done with my tail fix for Catherine and will let you know how things went ^^

57. Oh, now I see what you meant. That does make a ton of sense. You could easily cover the metal dot on the outside with a tiny spot of epoxy or some such. I had to check out the tail assembly on my Cheshire. I surely do hope it never comes off, as it appears to have a similar resin bar inside. I do wish his tail was magnetic.

58. The good thing abouth the Pipos Cheshire tail is that the tail can be easily unhooked from inside the body (and only hooks on with elastic / no s-hooks) by lifting the torso joint for this purpose. You sadly can't do this with the Dearshine body due to its completely fused torso. Hence, the tail hooks on to a tail stub outside the body via an s-hook.This could be a really great reason for a hip joint in the Dearshine body though, to do something similar to the Cheshire / Pipos Pi cat body.
I also wish Pipos would do the same with the RPi and M.Pi kitties as an option. Magnetic tails are great in tinies or for kitties with very lightweight tails (like the Dear Lover cats & foxes) but the heavier and longer the tail the harder they fall when magnets fail.
On a side note, I would love to see Dearmine do a lovely poseable jointed tail for some of their bigger (Dear Lover / Dearshine) cats as I love the jointed Pipos Pi cat tail I have on Mr Scraachee, my Cheshire...so fun to pose.
