Dearmine Dear Pet (1/6 size) Orange Pekoe Rey

Jan 31, 2018

    1. I've been trying and failing at NOT buying more dolls... I resisted the original sale of this Dearmine kitty... but his cut face, with the open smile, kept calling me. Dearmine still sells him, but only in white skin now. The Canaria skin was limited and I slightly preferred it. Several agents were still selling him. I first tried Dolk... but they discovered that they didn't have the Canaria (yellow/tan) skin for sale after all. Then I tried FaithZ. They had him from a show, but without the little ivory boots, but I figured I might as well get him!

I did a layaway. FaithZ was very easy to work with. The box arrived yesterday in great shape.

Inside the shipper was some paper packing and under that were some cards for codenoir and some other bjd-related companies---
      [IMG]

And a package with the fullset clothes and wig for Dearmine Rey--
      [IMG]

Under that was the doll box, wrapped in plastic with the name of the doll written on it--
      [IMG]

In the doll box-- pillow, and under that, package with eyes, wrapped ears, wrapped tail, elastic, eye-putty; and the doll--
      [IMG]

Doll was bubble wrapped around the body. Head had strips of foam wrap around the head over a plastic face protector (removed in this picture), and strips under that to protect the faceup--
      [IMG]

All magnets are already placed. Head is a face-plate (actually, nearly whole head-plate) style with good fit--
      [IMG]

Stringing on legs goes through hips from leg to leg... it makes the legs want to stay in a position close together, which makes it a bit difficult to make Rey stand. There's a thigh joint with a sort of locking mechanism, which is quite nice, actually (keeps the leg from sliding all around-- I haven't seen that before). I'll have to see how it works in practice! The knees lock, too, but in a more typical way. Joints seem to hold position well, aside from stringing keeping the legs together...

The head/faceplate stays put very well (takes some effort to get it off). Seeing the inner mouth in there was a surprise! --But makes sense with the open mouth (I have very few open mouth dolls).

Finished nicely--no obvious seams or sanding. Nice smooth resin without being shiny. Faceup is very well done, with clean paint strokes and soft blushing. Fit of ears to head, really tight. Ears won't easily fall off. Eye wells easily fit eyes. I often don't use default eyes, but for some reason I've usually loved and used all the ones from Dearmine. I love these blue/aqua eyes. They are perfect!
He sits well, although because he's a little top-heavy, he still wants to tip backwards a bit.

Fur wig is sewn to fit his head, with no cuts to accommodate human ears. It's a pretty wild, slightly curling wig... I like it! The ears stick on nicely over the material of the wig and feel very secure.

The outfit came with a little card saying to put the shorts/skirt on with the fastening in the back. Nice of them to do that!

Outfit had pink collar with ties... I put it on, but I didn't know where the big bow with pin should go without going to check the official photos... so I put it on the neck. Checked later and it's supposed to go above the tail on the back of the coat. Oh, well!--

    2. CONTINUED--

Wild wig... I wonder if I should try and tame it a bit or leave it?

This morning I tried the bow above the tail... it's cute, but seem a shame to put it on his back where most people don't see it. And weird tail, eh? Not sure what sort of magical creature has those... I thought a fox, but the painting seems sort of orange tabby. Hmmm.--
      [IMG]

      He's a cutey for sure!

I'll have to see how I can get a hold of a pair of Dearmine boots for him, I'll try DDE. I asked Dearmine, but they only EMS everything, even clothes, so usually the only time I order Dearmine clothes (which are adorable--and well-made), is when I've got a doll on order, too. His outfit fits him well--had to squeeze his paws through the sleeves... but it worked.

I've got a ton of Dearmine Dolls now:

      Dear Lover Cocoa Dune
      Dear Lover Million Rose Heather
      Dear Lover Nocturn
      Dear Pet Nekomata Roy
      Picasso Bean
      Cocoa Bean
      Lupy

      and now--
      Dear Pet Orange Pekoe Rey

Agh! I am SUCH a bad doll-hoarder! (Of course all but 2 are tinies... and they don't count, right??? Or at least that's what I keep telling myself...)

But I really love Dearmine dolls!

      Thanks for looking!!! :kitty2

    3. aww...he really is cute! Congrats :)

    4. So cute! I totally understand why you caved and had to get him! I like the wig untamed - looks like he's been on adventures, running around and getting into trouble :P

    5. From the DM FAQ, he's a nekomata. Same as Roy.

I couldn't resist snagging him either.

    6. It was that happy face that got me!

He definitely looks like trouble... sweet, funny trouble, maybe! :kitty1

Thanks!!! I was trying to find Dearmine's "what kind of animals" FAQ, but couldn't... I'll have to go look again. I'm not really up on nekomata, but just googled... so now the double-tail makes sense! My Roy doesn't have the double tail... now I'm wondering if he even came with a tail! (That's what happens when you have too many dolls! Plus, I got Roy second-hand, so who knows if he came with a tail or not...?). Nekomata are supposedly kind of evil and a lot of trouble. I guess these guys are the cute, funny version! :kitty2

    7. @april, here's the link to the FAQ page. They don't seem to update it anymore but you can see the older white version of Rey in the photos.

faq - Introduce Dearmine's animal friends / Dearmineの動物紹介

I looked at a couple Roy product pages and he has the same double tail as Rey.

I don't think DM really does the evil thing much.

I should post a photo of my Rey in the DP thread.

    8. Thanks for the link. I was looking through the Dearmine site for that, but I guess I just missed it.

I tend to forget about what animals are which, anyway. I have a DL Heather which is listed as a Fox... but I never can see her as a fox... She seems like another cat to me.

They say, "Nekomata -- Cat but different from cat!" :kitty1 (I guess it's the double-tails? )

(I've got to say that it's often difficult to tell different Dearmine critters apart... unless it's more obvious--like the axolotl or the goat/ram horns.)

Yeah... Dearmine isn't into the evil! (unless it's super-cute evil that doesn't look one bit evil!) :whee:

Yes, you should post your Rey! :3nodding:

    9. Yeah I have trouble with some of them too. Doesn't really matter, they're still cute.

I posted a photo of my Rey.

    10. Oh, I saw him!!! Very cute! I love the violet eyes in him, too. Were those Dearmine eyes?

    11. Thanks. The eyes are from CandyKittensEmporium. Most of my DM dolls bigger than the beans have eyes from there. I just generally don't care for high dome glass eyes.

    12. BTW, if you want the legs to pose a wire threaded into both upper legs through the waist does wonders to allow them to not have their legs always snap together.

    13. Wires are a great idea, thanks! My other Dear Pet is the old body... I think this is the first time I've had a doll strung from leg to hip to leg before. Interesting... but kind of weird...

    14. Wow! The inner mouth there is the weirdest thing. I never really thought about it when I looked at him on the site, but if you'd asked me I would have assumed it was a piece held in with eye putty. (That is the standard, right?)

Of course, this way it isn't a tiny piece that could go missing if you had to open him up for some reason.

    15. Oh my goodness! What a little cutie! :love:D:fangirl:

      Congrats on getting him! :thumbup

    16. Oh my gosh!! He's adorable! :D I was considering getting him as well, but I decided on a Dorothy instead. Congrats on your new doll!
