40–49cm Dolls Dearmine Arthur Obsidian is here!

What a nice way to end the week! I was watching the mail carrier out the window when he came, and was about to open the door to go to the mailbox when he knocked to get a signature; I think I startled him by opening it immediately, lol. Here's a box opening, not as thorough as my last one but I had to go to class after. I'll probably do a more detailed review at some point.

Also, my character for this doll is a woman, so that's why I'm using 'she' pronouns for Arthur.

The box is super cute, I especially like all the cat designs on it.


Didn't take a picture of the inside of the box still packed, but right on top were the baggies with the fullset outfit, extra elastic/random eyes/putty, cat parts, and the wig I ordered. The fullset wig (fur) was packed in the pillows with the doll.


(Those eyes are actually really cute, they have a gem in the middle. Don't think they go with this faceup though.)

Here's Arthur! Or, mine is named Sloane. Either way, here she is! The doll was packed between two of these pillows, and mummified in tons of bubble and foam wrap. I'm so happy I got the grey resin, it's beautiful. It's also interesting now to have two dolls and compare the resin "feel" between them. She's also strung looser than my other doll, which is its own learning curve... but I can get her to stand on those big honking feet on her own. (Makes me nervous though!)


Closer look at the gorgeous faceup with the ears and outfit on, as well as the separate wig and eyes I bought. The eye makeup is so pretty and graphic! No blushing though, but there is a subtle layer of shimmer all over which only kind of shows in this picture. The eyelashes are also brown, which is interesting with the black eyeliner, but it's not super noticeable in person. The wig (from Dearmine) is actually kind of a brownish black so that ends up working together.


And the full look! Well, minus the cape. The cape is super beautiful (forget to take a picture I guess, but it's fully lined and has metal appliques), but I couldn't figure out how they managed to get the harness on over it in the promo pics, haha. The harness is like a halter situation and took a lot of mental rotation to figure out... at least for me. Oh also, you can't see the tail but it's unblushed, while the ears came painted with the same shimmer the face has.

(Thousand yard stare... I'll battle with the eyes another day.)

Hope this is helpful to anyone else waiting for Arthur Obsidian! I love everything about this set - the doll, the outfit, the vibe. Bonus pictures in the next post.

Dearmine sent a cute little Christmas hat as well! It's so precious, but does not fit on either of my dolls.


... so it's gone to the cat, who mostly thinks it's a toy.


Finally, here's my little doll family now! At the last second I got worried they wouldn't look "right" together (scale-wise/style-wise) but in person they look perfect. Actually I need to stand them up not on stands, because I think Sloane (Arthur) is taller despite the same heights being listed; Rin (Aimerai Syou) is ever-so-slightly "hovering" on a saddle, which also has a thicker base.

Isn't it? I love how muzzle-y the face is.

I didn't get a picture of it, but I also think it's really cute that the calf is 'pointy' to look like a cat's leg. (This is from Dearmine's website)
