Are there any dealers or resellers that sell current pre-order SWITCH wigs, and that do cheaper shipping for small items? The shipping costs when I try to order through the official website are higher than the price of the wig itself For reference, I'm located in Europe. But I'll take any international dealer recommendations if the shipping fees are ok-ish! Thanks very much in advance.
I think Dolce Luce has a deal with Faithz as a Switch dealer, but I don't know what the shipping is like since I think they're in the UK. Switch doesn't have many dealers other than Faithz and I think maybe Dolk?
If you're unable to find a dealer, I'd look into buying from Switch through a Korean shopping service. The benefits are: (a) you'll be buying off their Korean-facing store, where the prices are in Korean won (KRW). Some shopping services allow you to pay in your local currency, and currency conversion means that KRW->your local currency might be cheaper than USD->your local currency. (b) If you use the shopping service to buy from several different KR stores, they can consolidate your purchases into a single larger shipment, so that you're not paying individual shipping from each store. However, shopping services will charge fees for their service. I've been using a s.s. to buy BJD things from Korean stores, with a bit of planning I've been able to save money by paying in KRW instead of USD, and consolidating multiple store orders into single shipments. I recently used the s.s. to buy and ship a parcel of 5 wigs from 2 stores (including Switch). I saved around USD$12 in shipping vs. if I shipped those wigs separately from their stores -- and that's not counting my savings from not paying in USD (my local currency is very weak against USD right now). You'll have to do your own calculations to see whether you save money at all, but a s.s. is one alternative if you can't find a dealer. Also, Switch wigs are packaged in boxes, not plastic bags. The boxes take up more volume in a parcel, so I suspect that's why you're seeing higher shipping costs.
Re: shopping services/proxies - you can usually also ask them to remove some of the individual packaging to bring the shipping volume and price down but that risks with messing up certain styles of wigs of course. For some other types of items it's sometimes useful to keep it in mind as an option, for instance if you want to add a pair of shoes for your order or what not.
I've only ever used Korean Buddies. When I did a fee comparison between shopping services I think their fees were a bit higher than other sites, but they have extremely good customer service and response time, and let me pay my invoices in KRW through bank transfer (which lets me avoid PayPal and their exorbitant fees). They were also able to make enquiries on Q&A boards on my behalf.
