40โ€“49cm Dolls Dahl, my first doll in zbrush

Oct 10, 2022

    1. Really she's my first digital doll, and my second doll ever! The last image is her with most of her fingers done!

    2. I finished her sculpt; for now, I'm waiting a week before splitting her up as I was recommended so that I have time to sit and think if there is anything I want to change [IMG]

    4. Good for you, getting a hang of Zbrush to create a bjd! I really want to learn how to use it, but haven't had the time yet (plus I tried the free trial and it was hard!).

I think letting a sculpt sit for a while is a great idea. You can come back to it fresh!

I don't know if you were looking for comments, but one thing I would say is that you will probably want to see how her arms look straight/flat against her sides at some point. That way you can check to see if her arms are proportional in length to the body (typically the tips of the fingers reach the middle of the upper thigh, the elbow is about level with the waist, etc.). But that's just a tip in case it is helpful!

Good luck with the jointing process!

    5. Thanks! I'm definitely going to keep that in mind, I've been getting so much advice from so many sources on her; and I'm super grateful for all of it :D.
As far as doing it yourself goes, yeah it's a bit tough in the beginning, but so long as you have people around to answer questions you have at the time, it makes things so, so, so much easier! I have some people like that who've been able to help me out and I'm extremely grateful to them!

    6. Great to hear you have some friends to advise you! I imagine there are some useful videos on Youtube and such as well - they may not always be bjd-specific, but can help with things like booleans, etc. At least I hope they exist, since I hope to use them to learn myself in the future!

    7. Oh yeah there most certainly are!

    8. Okay so I was wrong about sizing shes going to more than likely be a 1/6th size doll, but I am getting closer to finishing her internal parts[IMG]

    9. I finally got her cut in half!

    10. Bravo! I was going to ask how the jointing was going!

I saw that you mentioned she might be 1/6 instead of being larger. But I suppose that's one of the beauties of 3D sculpting - you can change the size fairly easily from what I understand! So you might try her at a larger and a smaller size and see what you prefer!
